We Are Facing The Worst Water Crisis In U.S. History As Thousands Of Wells In The Southwest Go Dry

We all knew that this day was coming eventually.  At first dropping water levels in the Southwest were an annoyance, then they became a problem, and now they have become a crisis.  In fact, as you will see below, we are now potentially facing the worst water crisis in all of U.S. history if current trends continue.  For years, I have been warning that Dust Bowl conditions would return to the western half of the country, and now it has happened.  And for years, I have been warning of a looming water crisis, and now it is materializing right in front of our eyes.  Unfortunately, what we have experienced so far is just the tip of the iceberg because this crisis is still only in the very early chapters. The Scale Of The Nightmarish Crisis Currently Unfolding In Our Western States Is Being Compared To Hurricane Katrina

One of the worst natural disasters in the history of our country is unfolding right in front of our eyes.  In the entire history of the United States, we have never seen heat in the western third of the nation like we have in 2021.  In the entire history of the United States, we have never seen drought in the western third of the nation like we have in 2021.  Needless to say, countless numbers of farmers and ranchers are deeply suffering because of the heat and drought, and it is being projected that this is going to be one of the worst years for wildfires that we have ever experienced.  As you will see below, this crisis is being compared to Hurricane Katrina, but Hurricane Katrina only lasted for a few days.  The crisis that we are now facing has already stretched on for many months, and there is no end in sight. It Is So Dry In California That The Drinking Water Is Literally Starting To Taste Like Dirt

What would you do if the water coming out of your faucets tasted like dirt?  I know how crazy that sounds, but this is actually happening in the capital city of California right now.  Conditions are incredibly dry because of the endless megadrought in the region, and water levels have dropped to very low levels.  As a result, there is a much higher concentration of something called “geosmin” in the water than usual.  For those that are not familiar with “geosmin”, it is one of the organic compounds that makes soil smell the way that it does.  So at this moment, millions of California residents have water coming out of their taps that smells and tastes like dirt. Food Prices To Soar Higher As California Farmers Destroy Crops Because Dust Bowl Conditions Continue To Spread

What is happening in California right now is going to affect every man, woman and child in the entire country.  Today, California has 24.6 million acres of farmland, and the state produces more of our fruits and vegetables than anyone else by a very wide margin.  So if agricultural production is dramatically reduced because of the endless megadrought that currently has the state in a death grip, that is going to be a major problem for all of us.  If you visit the official U.S. Drought Monitor website, you will see that nearly all of California is experiencing either “extreme drought” or “exceptional drought” right now.  Things have been so hot and so dry for so long that Governor Gavin Newsom has decided to declare a “drought emergency” in more than two-thirds of the counties in the state… (Read More...)

What Will The Western Half Of The United States Look Like During “The Second Dust Bowl”?

Scientists have begun using the term “megadrought” to describe the multi-year drought that has been plaguing the western half of the country, and now we are being told that it looks like 2021 will be the worst year of this “megadrought” so far by a wide margin.  That is extremely troubling news, because major water reservoirs have already dropped to dangerously low levels, some farmers have been told that they will not be allowed to use any water at all this year, and the dust storms in the western U.S. are becoming so large that they can actually be seen from space.  This is a major national crisis, and it is only going to get worse. You Were Warned That Dust Bowl Conditions Would Return, And Now It Has Happened

The horrific drought that has much of the western half of the United States in a death grip has already surpassed what many scientists thought was possible.  Some areas of the Southwest went more than 200 straight days without any measurable rain last year, vegetation is disappearing at a frightening pace, and giant dust storms are becoming increasingly common.  For years, we have been warned that the droughts in the Southwest were getting worse.  For years, we have been warned that Dust Bowl conditions would return.  Now a nightmare scenario is upon us, and authorities are using the term “megadrought” to describe what is taking place… (Read More...)

Return Of The Dust Bowl? The “Megadrought” In The Southwest Is Really Starting To Escalate

Much of the southwestern portion of the United States has been gripped by a drought that never seems to end, and there is a tremendous amount of concern that patterns that we witnessed back during the Dust Bowl days of the 1930s may be starting to repeat.  In a previous article, I discussed the extreme heat that we have been seeing in the region lately.  Phoenix has never had more days in a year when the high temperature has hit at least 115 degrees, and other southwestern cities have been smashing records as well.  At the same time, precipitation levels have been very low, and the combination of these two factors is starting to cause some major problems. Floods And Drought Devastate Crops All Over The Planet – Could A Global Food Crisis Be Coming?

It looks like global food production could be well below expectations in 2019, and that could spell big trouble in the months ahead.  In recent weeks, I have written extensively about the problems that we have been experiencing here in the United States.  As many as a million calves were lost to the flooding that hit the state of Nebraska in March, farmers have planted less than half of the corn that is normally in the ground by this time of the year, and a lot of the crops that have been planted in the middle of the country are really struggling due to extremely wet soil.  But it isn’t just the United States that is facing a very troubling year.  Earlier today, one of my readers sent me an article entitled “Global food crisis ahead as extreme weather events devastate crops and fields around the world” which I would encourage everyone to read.  In that article, we are told that after the worst drought in 116 years Australia has actually been forced to import wheat.  And according to the Guardian, this is the first time in 12 years that this has happened… (Read More...)
