Did you know that we are in the middle of the worst bird flu outbreak ever recorded?  Millions upon millions of birds have been dying, and most people don’t even realize that such a nightmarish pestilence has been absolutely devastating North America and Europe.  But what people do know is that eggs, chicken and turkey just keep getting more expensive at the grocery store.  In fact, supplies are starting to get so tight that some experts are now talking about the potential for “shortages” during the holiday season.  Unfortunately, this epidemic isn’t going to go away any time soon.  If it was going to go away, it would have done so during the warm summer months.  Now the weather is starting to get colder again, and that means that it will be even easier for the bird flu to spread. Do you feel like global events are really starting to spiral out of control?  If so, you are definitely not alone.  There are times when history seems to be moving very slowly, and there are other times when history seems to be moving at a pace that is absolutely breathtaking.  At this moment, we are definitely in the latter.  The summer of 2022 was a relatively stable time, but now things have started to get really, really crazy.  Many of us are deeply concerned that the events that we are witnessing will only lead to tragedy, but we can’t do anything to stop them.  Global leaders continue to make incredibly reckless decisions that are likely to have extremely serious consequences, but they aren’t going to listen to people like us.  So we get to witness a slow-motion train wreck on a global scale take place right in front of our eyes, and there is nothing that we can do to prevent it from happening. Can you imagine clinging to a wall with all of your might for hours in order to avoid certain death?  There are a lot of people that live along the west coast of Florida that barely survived Hurricane Ian, and in this article you will hear some of their stories.  This wasn’t just another storm.  Hurricane Ian had maximum sustained winds of 155 mph, and that put it just 2 mph away from being a Category 5 storm.  But the worst part was the giant wall of water that the storm pushed ashore.  The storm surge caused so much damage that it is already being projected that Ian is the most costly natural disaster in all of U.S. history.  The state of Florida will never be the same after this, and we should all mourn for those that have lost their lives. Hurricane Ian will go down as one of the worst natural disasters in the history of the United States.  The utter devastation that we are witnessing in southwest Florida is difficult to comprehend, and it will literally take years for the region to recover.  When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, it was just a Category 3 storm.  Hurricane Ian was a very strong Category 4 storm when it finally made landfall, and it very nearly hit Category 5.  Some media outlets were reporting that Ian had maximum sustained winds of 150 mph, while others were reporting that Ian had maximum sustained winds of 155 mph.  In either case, it came really close to becoming a Category 5 storm. Something really strange just happened.  On Monday, large underwater “explosions” were detected in the precise areas of the sea where the Nord Stream pipeline system is now leaking.  In fact, the explosions were so large that they actually registered on the Richter scale.  If someone wanted to purposely damage the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, very large explosions would be needed because those pipelines are extremely thick.  So it appears that this was a deliberate act of sabotage, and that is what many European officials are now alleging.  But if that is the case, who was behind it? Could we actually see a Palestinian state be established within the next year or two?  Just this week, there have been some new developments that have been absolutely stunning.  For the first time in ages, both the president of the United States and the prime minister of Israel are openly calling for the creation of a Palestinian state.  But just a couple of years ago, it seemed like such a move was extremely unlikely.  Donald Trump was in the White House and Benjamin Netanyahu was the prime minister of Israel, and it was clear that a Palestinian state would not happen as long as either one of them was in power.  Now they are both gone, and everything has changed. If heavily armed intruders were trying to break through the door of your home, would you shoot them if they actually succeeded in getting inside?  Most westerners do not realize this, but that is actually how the Russians view the conflict in Ukraine.  They are entirely convinced that this is a life or death struggle with NATO, and almost nightly there is discussion about the possibility of nuclear war on television.  The Russians are deeply scared, and they truly believe that the future of their nation hangs in the balance.  In an existential fight for national survival, there are no limits.  The Russians will do whatever is necessary to ensure the survival of Russia, even if that means causing a global cataclysm. Have you noticed that people seem to be going completely nuts all around us?  Of course there have always been a few people with mental health issues in our society, but these days it seems like some sort of a collective insanity has descended upon our entire nation.  I was curious, and so I decided to look up the dictionary definition of “insanity”.  According to Merriam-Webster, the top definition is “a severely disordered state of the mind usually occurring as a specific disorder”.  When I read that, I thought that “a severely disordered state of the mind” sounds just about right.  Front the White House all the way down, we are witnessing things that we have never seen before.  Vast numbers of people in our society can’t seem to think straight, and that is a major problem.
