Earth In Travail: Hawaii Has Been Hit By More Than 12,000 Earthquakes Over The Last 30 Days

We haven’t seen anything like this since Hawaii first became a state back in 1959. Kilauea began erupting on May 3rd, and it hasn’t stopped rumbling yet. In fact, authorities are telling us that Hawaii has been struck by “over 12,000 earthquakes” during the last 30 days. That is an extraordinary amount of shaking, and many are now becoming concerned that fundamental physical changes are happening to the islands. It was once one of the greatest manufacturing cities in the entire world, and it once boasted the highest per capita income in the whole country. 50 years ago, thriving middle class neighborhoods peppered the city, but today it has become a rotting, decaying nightmare and a poster child for urban decay. The Department Of Homeland Security Plans To Compile A List Of All Bloggers, Journalists And “Social Media Influencers”

Many were hoping that once Barack Obama was out of office we would see less of this Big Brother surveillance nonsense, but instead it seems to be getting even worse.  In fact, the Department of Homeland Security has just announced that it intends to compile a comprehensive list of hundreds of thousands of “journalists, editors, correspondents, social media influencers, bloggers etc.”, and collect any “information that could be relevant” about them.  So if you have a website, an important blog or you are just very active on social media, the Department of Homeland Security is going to put you on a list and will start collecting information about you.  The DHS has already announced that it will hire a contractor to aid in monitoring media coverage, and they will definitely need plenty of help because it is going to be a very big job… (Read More...)

Sales Have Fallen For 26 Quarters In A Row And More Stores Are Closing – Is This The End Of The Line For Sears?

When sales have declined for 26 quarters in a row, you have got to know that your days are numbered.  Once upon a time, Sears was an unbeatable retail powerhouse.  It survived two world wars and the Great Depression, but thanks to competition from Amazon and other online retailers it may not even survive 2018.  On Thursday, shares of Sears fell to a depressingly low level of just $2.91 once news broke that the company was going to close dozens of more stores.  But to be fair, Sears doesn’t have a choice.  If you can believe it, Sears lost an astounding 424 million dollars during the first three months of 2018.  Frankly, I don’t even know how that is possible.  If all their employees did all day was flush one dollar bills down the toilet, I still don’t think that they could lose that kind of money.  This is a company that is being horrendously mismanaged, and as I have said so many times before, Sears is ultimately heading to zero. On The Brink: Israel Warns That The “Threshold Of War” Will Be Crossed If Hamas Doesn’t Stop Firing Rockets

Over the past 24 hours, Hamas and Islamic Jihad have fired approximately 70 rockets and mortars into Israel, and the IDF has responded by conducting at least 60 airstrikes in Gaza.  Even as I write this article, there are reports that the fighting has continued all through the night.  If the hostilities continue, we could very well see a full blown war erupt, and such a war could ultimately draw in the Palestinians in the West Bank, Hezbollah and more of Israel’s neighbors as well.  To say that things are tense in the region would be a major understatement.  On Tuesday, it was reported that there was a full moon over Jerusalem that was “almost red”, and some are taking that as an ominous sign.  This is also the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, and that certainly adds an extra dimension to the events that are unfolding right in front of our eyes.  This is the worst violence that we have seen between the Israelis and Hamas since 2014, and many are extremely concerned about what we may see next. The Church Of England Is Encouraging Gay, Lesbian And Transgender People To Become Priests

The Church of England has launched a diversity drive that is specifically encouraging gay, lesbian and transgender people to take “roles of leadership and service in the local church”.  This move is being greatly applauded by the LGBT community and is being very strongly criticized by conservatives.  At one time such action by the Church of England would have been unthinkable, but today this news is hardly being noticed.  The Church of England has worked very hard to be welcoming to the LGBT community in recent years, and this has created some very significant rifts within the denomination.  Other major Christian denominations are going through similar struggles, and ultimately we may be seeing the largest shift in Protestant thinking since the days of the Reformation.
