We were told a long time ago that this was coming.  It is being reported that Nancy Pelosi will arrive in Taiwan on Tuesday, and the Chinese appear to be promising that there will be some sort of a military response.  What form that response will take has been the subject of much debate in recent days.  An article that was just posted on Zero Hedge does a great job of breaking down potential ways that China could strike back against Taiwan itself, but we should not completely rule out the possibility that the Chinese could select an American target to hit instead.  Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan is a direct challenge to China’s sovereignty over the island, and Chinese leaders are steaming mad right now.  They are going to do something that sends a very clear message, and once that happens the Biden administration will inevitably feel compelled to respond.  These are very dangerous times, because it won’t take much to spark a full-blown shooting war. Are we witnessing the start of some sort of a mass awakening in the western world?  For years, I have been writing about the extremely complex systems that are designed to shape and control what we think.  Today, the vast majority of the “news” and “entertainment” that most of us consume is controlled by just a very small handful of immensely powerful corporations.  And of course those corporations are ultimately owned and controlled by the elite of the world.  To a very large degree, the elite have been able to determine what we focus on, what we think about current events, and how we feel about the world around us.  For such a long time, most of the population would take whatever narratives that were pushed upon them by their corporate overlords as the gospel truth, and that always greatly frustrated me.  Fortunately, there are indications that times are changing. She is actually going to do it.  Nancy Pelosi is going to Taiwan, and she is going to take a bunch of other Congress critters with her.  The Chinese are absolutely furious, and they are promising to respond very strongly when it happens.  I really hope that the Chinese show some restraint, because one of the options being discussed is the implementation of a no-fly zone over Taiwan.  That would be an act of war, and the Biden administration would inevitably feel compelled to escalate matters even more.  If that happens, we will be off and running and nothing will ever be the same again. George Orwell once said that “war against a foreign country only happens when the moneyed classes think they are going to profit from it”, and he was right on target.  War is enormously profitable, but once the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan ended the military industrial complex needed a new cash cow.  So now we have the war in Ukraine, and we are being told that it could go on for years.  Life is good again for the big arms manufacturers, but it could be even better.  A war with China would cause military spending to soar to unprecedented heights that we have never been before, and we are getting closer to such a conflict with each passing day. We like to think of ourselves as the pinnacle of human existence, but the truth is that humans have been getting smaller, slower and dumber for quite a while.  So why is this happening?  Over time, human DNA has accumulated an enormous amount of deleterious mutations, and each new generation adds even more.  Our DNA is essentially an “instruction manual”, and these deleterious mutations are essentially “spelling mistakes” in that manual.  Eventually there will be so many mistakes that our “instruction manual” is simply not functional any longer, and that is a major problem.  What this means is that the clock is running down on the human race, and that is a reality that most people don’t want to face. Those that control our food supply wield an immense amount of power.  Small family farms have been integral to the success of the United States all throughout our history, but now such farms are being gobbled up at a staggering pace.  Corporate behemoths, foreign interests and eccentric billionaires are voraciously buying up farmland, and many consider this development to be extremely alarming.  The farming industry is being systematically consolidated, and a lot of people have pointed out that some of the new owners may not have our best interests at heart.  This needs to become a major political issue, because our national security is truly at risk. Thanks to the horrific drought which is absolutely devastating ranching in the Southwest, ranchers are now in “panic mode” and are selling off their cattle at an unprecedented rate.  In fact, some are choosing to sell off their entire herds because they feel like they don’t have any other options.  In recent days, seemingly endless lines of trailers waiting to drop off cattle for auction have gone viral all over social media.  Everybody is talking about how they have never seen anything like this before, and if the drought in the Southwest persists the lines could soon get even longer.  In the short-term, this is going to help to stabilize meat prices.  But in the long-term the size of the U.S. cattle herd will steadily become much smaller, and that has very serious implications for our ability to feed ourselves in 2023 and beyond. What do you think is going to happen when we get to a point where the world simply cannot produce any more oil than it is already producing?  It is often said that “energy is the economy”, and to a large degree that is true.  Very wealthy nations with large GDPs tend to use a great deal of energy, while very poor nations with small GDPs tend to use a lot less energy.  Just about every form of economic activity requires energy, and so those countries that have a high level of economic activity require more of it.  Of course we live at a time when the total population of the world has been steadily increasing and global demand for energy has soared to unprecedented heights.  Production has struggled to keep up with demand, and now it appears that we will soon reach a point where we are simply not able to produce enough for everyone.
