Why Is Russia Building 5000 More Nuclear Bomb Shelters In Moscow By The End Of 2012?

Russia certainly seems to be in a hurry to prepare for something.  RT is reporting that 5,000 new nuclear bomb shelters will be constructed in the city of Moscow by the end of 2012.  Russian authorities believe that these new shelters are urgently needed because the current nuclear bomb shelters will only hold approximately half the population and are quite outdated.  In addition, there are apparently very few nuclear bomb shelters for those living outside the city center at this point.  Officials want virtually the entire population of Moscow to be able to reach a bomb shelter within a matter of minutes.  But in this era when the “Cold War” is supposed to be over, why are 5000 nuclear bomb shelters such an urgent necessity?

The following is an RT video news report about these new shelters….

But it isn’t just Russia that has been busy building bomb shelters.

A few years ago, Shanghai’s Civil Defense Office announced the completion of an absolutely massive underground shelter.  It was reported that the shelter covers an area of over 90,000 square meters and could accommodate up to 200,000 people at a time.

But that giant shelter is not even as big as the “Underground Great Wall” that was built during that 1960s and 1970s.  It is estimated that the “Underground Great Wall” contains 19 miles of tunnels and shelters and could hold up to 300,000 people.  It reportedly has a munitions warehouse, a hospital, a theater and even a library.

So what about the U.S. government?  Are they building any bomb shelters for us?

Basically, Americans are sitting ducks.  Whether it is a rogue nation launching a nuke or a full-out nuclear war, Americans literally have nowhere to go.  In the event of a nuclear attack, most of us would be lucky to have enough time to duck and cover and say our prayers.

The sad truth is that the U.S. government considers the threat of nuclear war to be a thing of the past.

For decades, an overwhelming nuclear arsenal has been our primary protection against nuclear attack, but thanks to the last several presidents our strategic nuclear arsenal has been mostly dismantled.

Today, the United States has only 5,113 nuclear warheads in its stockpile, which represents an 84 percent decline since a peak of approximately 31,255 in 1967.

But that isn’t far enough for Barack Obama.  Currently, Obama is working on a treaty under which the United States and Russia would only be allowed a maximum of 1,550 deployed warheads.

So with nuclear weapons rapidly spreading throughout the world, and with the U.S. only having a small fraction of the nukes that it used to have, doesn’t that make a nuclear strike against the United States more likely?

Of course, but because the mainstream media tells Americans that we don’t have to worry about nuclear war anymore most of them don’t even think about it.

But Russia is obviously taking a different approach.  Building 5000 bomb shelters in one city alone is a massive undertaking.  Obviously they feel like building all of these shelters is important for one reason or another.

So are they just being paranoid or are they several moves ahead of us?

This doesn’t seem to make sense to me. From my understanding, everything within 50 miles would be irradiated, and would remain so for a long period of time due to the half-life process. So that would mean that even if you survive, you would probably have to remain in the shelter for many years until the radiation dissipated to a reasonably safe level, and then you’d have a 50 mile walk to possibly get to an uncontaminated area.

You can than be moved to Sibir, for example

  • Civildefense

Civil defense is a cheap method of making your enemy think you are actually willing to use nuclear weapons. Nobody is under the delusion that there is a defense for nuclear war, apart from not having one in the first place.

You openly show that you are preparing for war so your enemy believes that you are willing to engage in it.

The shelters are to protect from the dollar bombs that are going to be raining down from Helicopter Ben.

  • A Dodgy Bloke

Why is Russia building 5000 atomic bomb shelters? Well they have to do something with all their stimulus. Anyway Barry will just wave his Nobel Peace Prize and everything will be allright.

  • A Dodgy Bloke

Oh I forgot to ask anybody at the G-20?

  • Dean Michael Jackson

As KGB Defector Anatoliy Golitsyn warned the West in 1962, the USSR/China and all other Communist nations had in 1960 signed on to a Long-Term Deception Strategy to defeat the West, which included, according to Golitsyn’s warning, the ‘collapse’ of the USSR; the peaceful folding of the Warsaw Pact; ‘independence’ of the East Bloc and other predictions that came true.

Golitsyn is the only defector (whether from the KGB or GRU) to have been on-target about future Soviet behavior, and is the only KGB/GRU defector who doesn’t do the lecture circuit as do the others. The reason why Golitsyn can’t make money off his amazing accuracy rate in predicting USSR behavior is because Golitsyn is the real deal; if he ventures outside, he’s dead.

Isn’t it interesting that the media/think tanks don’t want to touch Golitsyn, whose accuracy was near perfect, but do invite other KGB/GRU defectors to speak for a fee, even though those other defectors’ predictive capabilities turned out to be abysmal.

come on guys, do your homework! there were survivors that were 100 yards from ground zero in Nag and Heroshemia Japan in 1945,,,,,,,stay below ground and with filtered air for 14 days and all but the very closest will walk away with little damage as close as 1 mile from Ground Zero/

Knowledge and a bit of planning is key to survival

  • They are getting ready for solar flares from the sun in 2012.Fear is evident. With the sun’s 11-year solar cycle ramping up for its stormy maximum in 2012

  • The reality is much worse than just the implied threat from building these shelters. In reality there are several historical factors that are present today that indicate a great war is very near.

Historian Nial Ferguson points out that the three E’s of war present in the 20th century are now present: Empires in decline, economic volatility and ethnic conflict.

Ethnic conflict acts as a catalyst for war. In this case the ethnic conflict refers to a conflict between civilizations – the Israeli conflict with its neighbors. It turns out this conflict will soon explode into a war unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. It is likely to be so bad that only one side will survive. It will include chemical weapons exploding over Israeli cities. It will also likely include an Israeli nuclear response that will cause millions to die.

Remember, the Israeli conflict acts as a catalyst for a much bigger war involving America, Russia and China.

Russia has already given us a hint about its future actions. Russia has declared that it reserves the right to a preemptive nuclear strike to protect itself and its allies. It turns out that Syria is a Russian ally.

What would Russia do if Israel destroys Syria with nuclear weapons?

Niall Ferguson also points out that the signs present right before World War I are present today:

    1. Imperial overstretch.
    2. Powerful rivals.
    3. Weakened alliances.
    4. Terror supporting countries.
    5. Terrorist groups.

Historically, what happens to a world power when it starts to go into decline when powerful rivals are present? The last seven times this happened it resulted in war six times. So six out of seven times it results in war.

This implies that China will be gunning for America in the near future.

There are other historical factors that I can’t elaborate on, but show that America runs into a crisis every 80 to 100 years. The current crisis period started in 2005 and runs to 2025.

There is other analysis showing that the further you get from a major crisis like World War II, then the closer you are to the next one. Society does not move into the future in a linear manner.

Finally, there is Bible prophecy implying that Israel will destroy its neighbors soon (Amos 1). Also, a great friend of Israel will be destroyed in the spring following Israel’s act (Isaiah 18 and 17.) So we wait for Israel to destroy its neighbors, then we must leave the US before the following spring. Apparently, the attack on America by Russia and China will come as a complete surprise like a “thief in the night.”

When will all of this happen?

I expect the Israeli conflict to occur in the summer of 2011. That would put retaliation on America in the spring of 2012.

If the Israeli conflict does not occur in the summer of 2011, then I would look to the summer of 2012 or 2013.

Why is Russia building 5000 more nuclear bomb shelters?

    To store potatoes, perhaps?

  • Loki

Remember those black pyramid UFOs about a year ago over Moscow? Maybe we just think they are ‘nuclear bomb’ shelters.

  • ripvanwinkle

These shelters are not for bombs, they are for the coming cataclysm that may strike the earth in the near future. This would be the insane solar flares that are starting to have major effects on our magnetosphere and the earths electromagnetc field.

5000+ warheads Thats 10K warheads between Russia and the us. THAT’S 100 WAREHEADS PER STATE.
There is no 50 mile walk. There is nothing left.

We need to go out into the streets and scream NO MORE WAR!!!!

  • Rod

    Errr… I saw this around 6 months ago now…
Russia has falliout shelters, FEMA has 1/2 million coffins…
She’s ok – everything’s rosy in the world.
    heh yeah…

  • Stephanie

I enjoyed your post and will go look up those books and authors you mentioned.
Everyone preferred to hit the snooze button and loved to think that Russia was our friend and that they were gone – lol – but in reality the country is just waiting to bite us on our ass. Any country, that turns off the natural gas to another country during the coldest day of winter – which they did to all of Europe – is not your friend.
And rememeber, Russia is helping Venezuela with their new nuclear bomb building plant.

  • Stray Cat

Oh for crying out loud, people, the answer is OBVIOUS! They want a place to hide for when BHO comes visiting. “Hey, where is everybody?”

  • RealityBites

Perhaps the warmongers run Russia too.

Psychopath defense contractors are in every country and unless they are selling their death and destruction they aren’t happy.

Yeah)) as right now I see 5000 bombing shelter building))) I’m from Russia, and say that is not what this do not have to speak of, and you just go over the ears
Russia probably the most peaceful country, and not when the first no one did not attack, but if you attack us, these bombing shelter will not help, because the world will end on this and certainly for us and you for sure.

  • rod

@ Madmax2012, I dread to tell you this, but the myan calander did NOT include leap year, so if we are going by that, that would have happened a while back.

  • daz

Sorry to say but its been calculated to include leap years.

Maybe it scares them or they think it will be an advantage to have a lot of people alive after anything happens?

  • china zombie

remember when china owned america and then china lost their internet censorship and then all of china went buck wild?

  • Danganbeg

Russia needs the shelters because of the threat of american terrorism, there is no threat to america, so no need for them.

  • minutemanIII

Umm. I dont think that we are exactly sitting ducks.
Because we are free people we have our own responsibility for our own safety. Lots of folks in the us have their own shelter and simply dont need goverment to do and build everything for us…

5 feet of dirt and two weeks of food is enough to survive a nuclear attack.
