U.S. Anger At Israel Could Result In A UN Security Council Resolution Establishing A Palestinian State

Barack Obama talks on the phone with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel in the Oval Office - Public DomainThe Obama administration is absolutely furious with Israel. At the end of July, the U.S. State Department issued a scathing press statement in which it publicly rebuked the government for Israel for “settlement activity” in East Jerusalem which the Obama administration considers to be “corrosive to the cause of peace”. There has always been tension between the Netanyahu government and the Obama administration, but I don’t know if we have ever seen the State Department use such strong language to condemn Israeli activity. Unfortunately, the rapid deterioration of the relationship between the United States and Israel could have some very serious implications for the entire region in the months ahead. As you will see below, Newsweek is reporting that France is ready to make a renewed push for a UN Security Council resolution that would formally establish a Palestinian state, and this time around the Obama administration may be ready to go along with such a resolution.

The core issue that is causing so much contention between the United States and Israel right now is the expansion of housing in areas of East Jerusalem where Jewish people already live. The Netanyahu government doesn’t see anything wrong with this, but the Obama administration wants those areas of East Jerusalem to be handed over to the Palestinians as part of any peace deal. So the fact that more Jewish homes could be built on land that the Obama administration believes will soon belong to the Palestinians is making them very angry. The following is the entire press statement on this matter that was published on the official State Department website. I have bolded certain areas for emphasis…

We are deeply concerned by reports today that the Government of Israel has published tenders for 323 units in East Jerusalem settlements. This follows Monday’s announcement of plans for 770 units in the settlement of Gilo.

We strongly oppose settlement activity, which is corrosive to the cause of peace. These steps by Israeli authorities are the latest examples of what appears to be a steady acceleration of settlement activity that is systematically undermining the prospects for a two- state solution.

In just the past few weeks, we have seen reports of the advancement of plans for 531 units in Ma’ale Adumim, 19 in Har Homa, 120 in Ramot, and 30 in Pisgat Ze’ev; the advancement of a plan to retroactively legalize an outpost near Ramallah; and the issuance of tenders for 42 units in Kiryat Arba.

We are also concerned about recent increased demolitions of Palestinian structures in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which reportedly have left dozens of Palestinians homeless, including children.‎ More than 650 Palestinian structures have been demolished this year, with more Palestinian structures demolished in the West Bank and East Jerusalem thus far than in all of 2015.

As the recent Quartet Report highlighted, this is part of an ongoing process of land seizures, settlement expansion, legalizations of outposts, and denial of Palestinian development that risk entrenching a one-state reality of perpetual occupation and conflict. We remain troubled that Israel continues this pattern of provocative and counterproductive action, which raises serious questions about Israel’s ultimate commitment to a peaceful, negotiated settlement with the Palestinians.

But in Israel, they see things very differently. Thousands of Jewish people already lives in these areas, and the Netanyahu government has already stated that it has absolutely no intention of dividing the city of Jerusalem as part of any peace deal. Israeli authorities were quite alarmed by this recent State Department press statement, and the Jerusalem Post went so far as to accuse the State Department of essentially siding with Palestinian terrorists…

But above all, in fixating on settlements, the State Department is deliberately turning a blind eye to the mortal danger of Islamic terrorism and the hatred of Jews that permeates Palestinian society. In so doing, the department is in fact giving a green light to the Palestinian leadership, media and administrative bodies that openly incite, encourage and support terrorism, violence and boycotts against Israel.

By the same token, the State Department is giving sanction to the EU and its constituent member states, as well as to the UN and its specialized agencies to exacerbate their hostile policies against Israel. By their logic, if the US State Department takes such a slanted and hostile position, they can now exacerbate their own hostility toward Israel.

Something appears to be very, very wrong within the State Department.

Neither side is going to back down, and in the weeks ahead this may be the impetus that causes the Obama administration to finally do something that it has long considered doing. About this time last year, the French were ready to go ahead with a UN Security Council resolution that would have divided the land of Israel and set the parameters for a Palestinian state, but the Obama administration wouldn’t go along with it so the French backed down.

But now the French are ready to move forward again, and Newsweek is reporting that we may see something happen before the next U.S. president is sworn in…

The recent U.S. condemnation is anything but overstated; it is an indication of mounting global concern over the imminent extinction of the two state solution. In the next six months, until January 20, 2017, the window for saving it remains open, albeit narrowly.

In a courageous attempt to sustain the fumes of hope for the two state paradigm, the French government is driving an initiative to convene an international conference in 2016—a tent for organizing consensus toward a draft U.N. Security Council resolution to revive peace talks. If the conference can achieve the support of nine out of 15 Security Council members for its suggested draft-resolution, with the U.S. agreeing not to exercise its veto, the two state solution will be able to cling to its ninth life.

Barack Obama knows that he only has a few months left to make his mark in the Middle East, and a few months ago the Wall Street Journal reported that for the very first time the Obama administration was publicly admitting that a UN Security Council resolution that would divide the land of Israel was on the table…

The White House is working on plans for reviving long-stalled Middle East negotiations before President Barack Obama leaves office, including a possible United Nations Security Council resolution that would outline steps toward a deal between the Israelis and Palestinians, according to senior U.S. officials.

At this point, we don’t know if this will or will not happen by the time Obama leaves office.

But we do know that the French want this resolution to happen, and the only member of the Security Council that would be in a position to block it would be the United States.

So what will Obama do?

Only time will tell, but we will find out soon one way or the other, because Obama’s time in the White House is rapidly drawing to a close.

And our congress will do little, if anything other than vocally grouse.. this man child has already left his indelible mark on the middle east.. bathed in blood which his pro Islamist policies have caused to be shed. And he has the temerity to say that another person does not have the knowledge or experience to be president ??? He only has to look in the mirror to see someone who has been the greatest disaster to the middle east in our lifetimes. His arrogance is only exceeded by his duplicity which is only exceeded by his lack of substance. He will bring only more destruction.. He actually does seem like the first beast described in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ….

    • Chris Gerber

Obama is “an” Antichrist. a predecessor or precursor to the Actual Anitichrist to which you refer to in Revelations 6. There will be and have been many antichrists come and go. Hitler, Napoleon, Stalin, etc. Nationally, Obama holds the title as the worst U.S. President in the entire history of the U.S. imo. I am not the only one who thinks that either. You didn’t mention what he has done to the U.S. in addition to the Middle East.

  • barry oldwater

The O has probably payed attention that the almighty always causes something bad to happen every single time any country has tried to take land away from Israel, the angry thing is just a front to distract from the devious scheme, so look for any sanctions or UN rulings to hand over land after elections.

  • Kent Harris

Let us see we have had countless Islamic terrorists attacks here in the U.S. and France and for some reason we believe that God will stand on the sidelines and do nothing as we try to divide Jerusalem.

  • Jim Clark

Our noble French allies giving us the shaft again. We made a mistake landing in Normandy in 1944. We should have landed in Belgium or the Netherlands and let France suffer under the Nazis and their own puppet regime in Vichy for another year.

  • Rhialto the Marvellous

Big mistake, epic mistake. God has tried to warn us of the consequences of trying to divide Israel (see The Israel Omen).

The Bible makes it plain that Israel is not to be divided or cursed, but this generation thinks it knows better than the Holy Bible.
This is why I’m a prepper – because this atheistic, liberal, self-centered generation thumbs its nose at God.

  • VigilanteCaregiver

Israel is for the Israeli’s: they paid for the land back in the 1940’s. They’ve paid for the land over and over again – it’s theirs. The Jordanians and Egyptians that currently reside there need to go back to their own land again, be governed by their own governments, stop being called ‘Palestinians’ (which history records show was a name for Jewish settlers in the area), and stop being used by the Islamists as pawns and bullet fodder in a PR war.

    • Rhialto the Marvellous

Agree 100%, except that the land is not Israel’s because they paid for it, it’s theirs because God gave it to them.

If he changes his mind I’m sure he’ll let us know (not likely).

      • VigilanteCaregiver

        The Good Lord did that

      • watchmannonthewall

Actually, the Land belongs to God, which is why He has decreed the Jubilee year when each tribe receives back to its own allotment. He decreed this so those who inhabit the Land consistently recall they are really only caretakers of it and are thereby reminded of this every 50 years as they obey Him in returning the Land to each tribe, as divided.

The nations think that since the UN is the human entity that established Israel, they have the authority to do with the Land what they want. At the point they decide to divide the Land, God will step in and begin to make it quite clear that He is the final authority on what happens with His Land. If the U.S. allows its division, we will bear the brunt of His judgment first! Our founding fathers established this land as the place where God’s Word would be properly lived out! O how the mighty have fallen!

“For behold in those days and at that time, When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather ALL the nations, and bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I will enter into judgment with them there [the nations] on behalf of My people and My inheritance Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; and they have DIVIDED UP MY Land.” (Joel 3:1-2)

“Proclaim this among the nations: prepare a war; rouse the mighty men! Let all the soldiers draw near, let them come up [to Jerusalem]! Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, ‘I am a mighty man.'”

“Hasten and come all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves there. Bring down, O LORD, Thy mighty ones [the armies of heaven, Rev. 19:11-19].” “Let the nations be aroused and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge the nations. Put in the sickel, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread, for the winepress is full; the vats overflow, for their wickedness is great [a parallel passage to Rev. 14:17-20].”

“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the Day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. The sun and moon grow dark, and the stars lose their brightness. And the LORD roars from Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth tremble. (Joel 3:9-16a)

Our president is helping, whether he actually makes the move or not, by his threats, to set the stage for the game winning grand slam! Game over!

“But the LORD is a refuge for His people, and a stronghold to the sons of Israel. Then you will KNOW that I am the LORD YOUR God, dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. So Jerusalem will be holy and strangers will pass throgh it no more.” (Joel 3:16b-17)

and as the year of jubilee closes…tyhe September 30th “announcement”…falls right before the “feast of trumpets”…

          • watchmannonthewall

Lots of different calendars. I’m still trying to find one that appears to line up with scripture. Interesting to me that, depending on which group one is part of, one could have been celebrating a sabbatical year since 2014 all the way to, and including, 2017. We need to stay open to the leading of the Holy Spirit in this area. Possible no one has the right one yet! But always good to discuss to keep us on our toes! BTW- I am observing a sabbatical year this year.

          • iris

Could I ask which announcement is due Sept. 30th? Is this the date the French are referring to, as they hope to get backing from the UN (that won’t be hard to do) and for the U.S. to not veto their plan?

  • JB

This concerns me more than anything else. There’s no question the United States is well beyond “slouching towards Gomorrah” (Robert Bork); even Muslims can point to the extremity of our moral filth. The only thing that has stayed God’s judgment has been a promise He has made to Abraham: “those who bless you I will bless; those who curse you I will curse.” Our country has been blessed – not because of anything we have done – but because of His promise and His integrity. The moment our nation betrays our only historical ally in the ME and stabs Israel in the back – is when calamity will strike our shores.

It should make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up to realize bible prophesy speaks as if the US isn’t there – there’s no mention of it as a significant player on the world stage. God has also historically judged sexual sin with fire; couple that thought with what Russia and China (and North Korea for that matter) have been up to lately. All Christians should be on their knees in prayer!

    • Rhialto the Marvellous

JB, it does my heart good to see your wise words. Have you ever read “The Israel Omen” by David Brennan?

I believe that America may be mentioned at least a couple of times in the Word:
Rev 12:14 and perhaps Rev 14:8 and 18:2.
      What do you think?

    • Paul Benson

You have got some misunderstanding going on there. You are partly right but partly wrong. The USA was around and well blessed by God for 176 years before the nation of Israel was reborn. The Scripture says ‘righteousness exalts a nation’. That is why we came to be so blessed.

And the current lack of righteousness in our society is why we are currently under a progressive judgment of God. Not because of our treatment of Israel. This judgment will manifest on an increasing level as the call to repentance is ignored.
Here is an article I just did on this matter: Can Christians Change The Fate Of A Nation Under Judgment?

Will efforts to divide Israel affect the intensity of that judgment? Probably so. But the notion you presented as to why we were at one time a blessed nation, and now are not, is a little out of kilter. No offense intended.

      Paul Benson

  • Chris Gerber

What if Russia or China told the U.S. that we can’t build any more housing complexes in the U.S. and that any building of anything had to be approved by them? What would the U.S. do? Just sayin’.

    • Rhialto the Marvellous

Well, if the United States was being run by liberals then we would probably just acquiesce. Hopefully that won’t be the case.

  • michael malachi

no worries, we know what is going to happen. Whether Jerusalem is divided sooner or later, we must put our trust in Christ.

  • K

The U.S. has become an agent of evil. And should expect God to treat it, as an agent of evil.I think we have already seen the beginning of it. And since I expect them to put Hillary in, by any means necessary. It will only get a lot worse.

    • Rhialto the Marvellous

The whole world is an agent of evil, not just the US. God understands this and has reserved his wrath until the appointed time. Until then we are under the covenant of mercy and grace.

    • iris

I so agree, K. Thank the LORD, that it is all going so quickly now, and that it will only be temporary. Looking forward to His return, when all will become truly just, joyful, peaceful. Everything good is in Him and Him alone. May we look to Him as the darkness encroaches.

  • Tomer Devorah

It’s all a show. Everyone in Israel knows that no actual building has been going on under Bibi Netanyahu’s government.

    • Rhialto the Marvellous

Baloney. There have been many new housing units for Jews built in East Jerusalem during Netanyahu’s administration.

  • James Staten

I have said this often through the years. There is a Pastor R A Coombes, who went home to be with the Lord a little over three years ago, who wrote a book that became his life’s work. “America the Babylon”. Many consider it the classic in this area of bible study. If America is end time Mystery Babylon, one of her last acts will be basically throwing Israel under the bus? The Lord makes it very clear that He will grind to pieces anyone that comes against Jerusalem. You can watch Pastor Coombes’ presentation on you-tube given on the Prophecy Club in 1998. It is a 2 1/2 hour presentation. His major Scripture references are Jeremiah 50-51, Revelation 17-18, portions of Isaiah 13-18 and Isaiah 47. The many scholars I have read through the years almost to the man place this destruction taking place around Sept-Oct during the Jewish Feast Days. It has gotten to the point where Russia has been threatening us literally every day with nuclear destruction? Regardless if America is being described the Lord will open His arsenal from Heaven. 1st Corinthians 15:1-4

sooner or later those OF the world will act of their own rebellion and divide the land joel 3:2.
luke 21:22..all written will fulfill, it’s already a done deal then, but it’s no where the end or doom and gloom for israel nor for believers and israel will become believers when faith is granted to them (sin removed/sins washed away in Christ, romans 11:26-27, 1st john 1:7) so we can rejoice as everything written unfolds and unwraps to the completion and the return of Christ.
john 11:25-26, 1st john 2:17, those of Christ live forever those OF the world suffer what is called ‘doom and gloom’.
If those of the world don’t like doom and gloom that’s coming for them then they should flee with all contrite heart to Christ to escape the wrath and judgement of God, it’s why Christ was sent after all so any could have life.

Too late! For few, maybe, for the majority? Not! Having ears, they hear not; and having eyes, they see not!
It is really no different than the way many Jewish leaders had no idea they were actually participating in the spiritual, but real, Passover when Messiah was put to death. The signs were all around them and they had practiced the tradition for centuries, but they simply didn’t understand the real thing when it occurred. So to, today’s “church” and Americans!

But then again, if Jews may have a country, then so may Palestinians. Or anybody. Just recall July 4, 1776.

    1) US sides with France to broker a UNSC “deal” to create a Palestinian state.

    2) US sends troops, under the UN flag, to Israel to enforce Palestinian “deal”.

    3) US suffers yet another false flag attack.

    4) US has troops committed to Israel; calls on UNSC to send troops to support US in crisis.

    5) Gun confiscation begins and civil war ensues.

Congratulations, America. Obama has successfully done us in.
