Michael Snyder: 25 Things I Think That I Think About The Future Of America

Thinking Puzzle - Public DomainIs there hope for the future of America? Following the election of Donald Trump, such a question often evokes some extremely strong emotions from people. And even more surprising, it can turn people that are supposedly on the same side viciously against one another. Because of what I do, I spend an enormous amount of time on the Internet, and it greatly saddens me when I see people that should be working together attacking each other instead. No matter what your perspective may be, and no matter how right you think you are, the truth is that this nation is not going to have any hope for the future unless we start to learn how to love one another.

One of my all-time favorite sportswriters is Peter King, and in his Monday Morning Quarterback column he always has a section entitled “Ten Things I Think I Think”. I have always admired his writing style, and so I am taking some inspiration from him today as I share some thoughts about the future of our country. The following are 25 things I think that I think about the future of America…

#1 So many people that are supposed to be standing up for what is right are turning their guns on each other. A house that is divided will surely fall, and if we don’t figure out who are friends are we are going to get routed by an enemy that is coming against us in a thousand different directions.

#2 Love is supposed to be the distinguishing feature in all that we do. We are to love people as much as we can, for as long as we can and in as many ways that we can.

#3 Donald Trump is not America’s Lord and Savior. Donald Trump’s role is to be our lead blocker. In other words, it is up to him to keep the pressure off of the rest of us so that we can do the job that we are intended to do.

#4 So many people are so bitterly divided about what Donald Trump’s presidency will bring. Some believe that wonderful times are ahead, while others believe that things are about to get really bad. But no matter what you believe, we should all be praying for Trump, supporting Trump and hoping for the best for his presidency.

#5 If you are on the winning end, try to show grace to those that didn’t, because someday you may find yourself in that exact same position.

#6 Political change does not equal spiritual change.

#7 If someone spends more time pointing fingers at others than they do proclaiming the truth, that is a major red flag.

#8 One of the keys to life is forgiveness. So let us choose to forgive one another and to do what we can to work together to rebuild our once great nation.

#9 Many people seem to think that the war is over because Donald Trump won the election. But the truth is that the battles are just beginning.

#10 Calling people names rarely leads to anything good.

#11 Donald Trump cannot change a single heart. Only Jesus Christ can do that.

#12 If you feel hate for someone, you are on the wrong track.

#13 When you think that you know all the answers, it can be incredibly humbling when you finally realize that you really don’t.

#14 How much you love is far more important than how much you know.

#15 If the body of Christ in America cannot be united now, when will it ever be?

#16 Spiritual greatness does not come from winning arguments.

#17 The preaching of the gospel is far more important than any political agenda.

#18 All of the great revivalists throughout American history have preached against sin. If you are not preaching against sin, you are not preaching revival.

#19 A great move of God is coming. I have been relentlessly proclaiming this for years, often when it has been very unpopular to do so.

#20 Many are hoping for a great move of God instead of shaking. But the truth is that we should be thankful for the shaking that is coming because it will shake many into the Kingdom.

#21 The period of time just before the return of Jesus Christ will be the most chaotic in all of human history. Whether the events that Jesus describes in Matthew 24 and elsewhere are close at hand or not is certainly open for debate, but without a doubt those events are coming.

#22 God is raising up a Remnant in these last days. We know that this Remnant will exist because Revelation 12:17 and Revelation 14:12 tell us that it will. This Remnant will keep God’s commandments, it will bring in the greatest harvest of souls the world has ever seen, and it will move in the power of the Holy Spirit like we haven’t seen since the Book of Acts.

#23 Many people are quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14 these days, and Vice-President Mike Pence even had his hand on that portion of Scripture when he was inaugurated. But the promises in that verse are dependent on God’s people turning from their wicked ways…

14 if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Considering the fact that about two-thirds of all Christian men view pornography on a regular basis, we have a long way to go if we are to turn from our wicked ways.

#24 2 Chronicles 7:14 is part of a larger passage in which God has some very ominous warnings for those that will not keep His ways. In verses 19 and 20, God warns of great disaster if His people abandon His statutes and commandments…

19 But if the people turn aside and abandon My statutes and commandments that I have given to you, and you walk after and serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot them from My land that I have given to them; and the house that I have consecrated for My name, I will throw it from before Me and set it as a proverb and taunt among the peoples.

#25 There is always hope if we will turn from our wicked ways and will do the things that God has instructed us to do. There is hope for each of us individually, and there is hope for us as a nation. But without Jesus, we have no hope at all.

Excellent article and thoughts, Michael! I especially noted the the following two points:
#19 A great move of God is coming. I have been relentlessly proclaiming this for years, often when it has been very unpopular to do so.

I have no doubt these will be fulfilled on another “Pentecost” or Shavuot, just as the first two were, at Sinai and in Jerusalem, on the 50th (Jubilee) day! Those who are keeping the commandments of God are paying attention to His timing and preparing themselves for that eventual outpouring! In the meantime, we are preparing to meet the Bridegroom at His coming and encouraging others to come with us! The politics of today will pass, but His Word will never pass away!

People have been saying a “great move of God is coming” all of my life and MILLENNIA before. God must have forgot to make his great move. Or maybe he got bored with this universe and created another.

There was a great move in the 18th century. I encourage you to read the accounts of changed lives w
After Jonathan Edwards preached his famous sermon, “sinners in the hands of an angry God”, as well as George Whitfield, played a part in what became knownb as the Great Awakening

Not to forget the 2nd-Great Awakening esp with Charles Finney who stated that if America ever faulters or fails it will be the fault of her preachers.

The third message on October 13, 1973, the actual anniversary of the final visions and miracle of Fatima is as follows: “As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by my Son. Each day, recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests. The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, and bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their Confreres. The Church and altars will be vandalized. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

Maybe Catholics wouldn’t be so bad if your church didn’t murder so many millions of people for the past 2000 years.

      • Paul Patriot

Yeah, the error Gandhi made was he viewed roman catholics and other religious people ,(zealots) as Christians.

If he would have met Biblical Christians, like the early church (like the ones being killed by organized religion, (church)), that would have given him a different perspective of what a follower of Jesus Christ looks like.

      • Simon

I’m not a Catholic but for centuries Catholics were pretty busy preventing all of Islam from conquering Europe and the rest of the world. Sure, not everyone legally classified as ‘Catholic’ really was one and the Wolves crept in but where haven’t they?

As for Ghandi, he had the witness of the prophets, Christ and the early church and, to my knowledge, despised it. Plus he was a wife beater.

Legitimate criticism where it’s deserved but likewise commendation.

No human being is perfect. We all fall short in the eyes of God.
The greatest genocide in the history of the planet had to be the Great Flood from Noah’s time on the Earth. I call it genocide because that is exactly what it was.
Mistakes were made not just from Humans but from other species a little bit above us on the pay scale. One of which was the contamination of human beings with one of those other species. Species supposedly under the command of God. Well the mistake was erased. The hybrid species was eliminated. Noah and his family being the only survivors. Or were they?
Given a long life span, and we are talking a lifespan of approximately 800 to 900 plus years, humans went forth and produced an over abundance of humans on this planet. Probably somewhere in the range of 19 billion people according to some sources. Could have been more, could have been less. To destroy such a huge population of humans? Now that is a crime.
The genetic record of species on this planet tells a slightly different tale. We are talking about thousands if not millions of species that survived the flood. There is an entirely different record of survival in the Americas for instance. So there is a probability that there might have been more than one ark or more than the vision of the world by Noah’s people. His world consisted of a local area. I have no doubt that this vision of the world did indeed flood. That must have been one crowded boat to contain the number of land species on this planet.
I would not be surprised if in some local valley between the mountains even the great lizards like the dinosaurs may still exist. We have no knowledge that they do or don’t exist.
We do have a whole lot sea fossils buried in the soil even of the mountains around the world indicating at least one huge wave might have occurred. Some have speculated that a huge glacier broke loose and created a wave some 300-400 feet high at the South Pole.
The point is we do not really know if it was world wide or not.
We do know there are records all over the world of a great flood.
There is at least one other account of people on an ark.
One thing is certain. After Noah people lived much shorter lives.
That shorter life gene is world wide.
IF we were created rather than evolved in some natural way then someone really messed up big time. No other species on the planet has the number of genetic defects that humans have. I should know because I am one of those defective humans. I have an eye disease called lazy eye in which the vision of one eye is 20/400 and the other is about 20/18. It is common in my family lines. Instead of going cross-eyed our family rejects the vision of one eye in favor of the other one. It is correctable only if it is found before you are 10.
No other species has a double chromosome arrangement. The closest species on the planet to us all have 48 chromosomes. We have two chromosomes matching that are double sized. We also have 46 chromosomes instead of 48. That is definite evidence of manipulation by something other than evolving. So creation might be the answer. But by whom?
My point is we are a defective product. Meaning a lot of what is going on was planned by someone.
So if a massive genocide is planned again that might be the reason.
That the same humans are defective morally is no mistake on God’s part apparently. But I do think it is an addiction that is right in the genetic structure of mankind.
So how do we change deck of cards that is stacked against us?
The only answer I have is the one provided to us by Jesus Christ.
Forgiveness. Grace by the blood of Jesus.
We will be judged by the same meter by which we judge. And that is in proverbs. So it is universal to both Jews and Christians.
Donald Trump may bring us back from the brink of destruction. If he does it isn’t because Donald Trump is anything special. It is because he has chosen to put God first in his public life.
Mike Pence has a reputation for doing just that.
This administration had more prayers at the ceremony than any in history. That tells me they want to follow God in their leadership. I will back this man as long as he follows God in his direction and leadership of this country.
None of us are perfect. We are all defective. So whatever government we choose will also be defective in one way or another. When I was a leader locally in my craft union, I spent a lot of time asking God for answers and he led me to produce good things for my people.
I can only hope that our current elected leaders will spend a lot of time in prayer before they make decisions. If they do, then great things will occur.

    • TheFlood

Sounds like you want to believe the biblical record of the flood but can’t accept it at face value – there is much evidence to suggest you can trust the account, and God, completely.

Genocide implies an evil action but God’s actions are always just and in perfect measure – humanity worked hard for the flood as a judgment and it would have been an injustice on God’s part to do anything less than a global flood.

As for the animals on the ark, plenty of websites have answered this question very thoroughly – see any of Creation, Answers in Genesis, Centre For Scientific Creation. The bible doesn’t say or mean ‘species’, but ‘kinds’ of animals. For example, from two cat types, we get all the cats including lynx, puma, cheetah, lion, tiger, house cat, ocelot, etc. Most dog breeds have been produced by selective breeding in the last 300 years, demonstrating how far genetics can be pushed to produce variation in such a short time (Great Dane to poodle). The point is that hundreds of thousands of land species are reduce to 12-16 thousand kinds, few of which would be larger than a sheep. Factor in young animals over full grown mature ones and you will easily find the ark space you need to house even the dinosaurs (which history documents thoroughly as ‘dragons’ before the early 1800’s when the term ‘dinosaur’ was coined.)

Amen, only the blood of Jesus saves us. I also pray that Trump does much good in his presidency. Either way, God is just and eternally victorious.

Michael Savage, the talk radio host who ruthlessly bashes homeless people, won’t say Dylann Roof was a pharma druggie, said GMOs are safe to eat (total lie, watch Genetic Roulette), won’t talk about vaccines causing autism, etc.

    The future:

More incurable infections. Age of antibiotics is done.
    More drug addictions.
    More poverty and wealth inequity.
    More race conflict.
    More war.
More crime and domestic violence including terrorism.
    More disease especially diabetes.
    More venom on the internet.
    More political division and infighting.
More anti-Christian actions from many sources.
More sorry education at all levels.
More of the same like the past 50 years because people will not change.

Much of what you say is so.
However America was founded by Protestant Christ following believers. Then 150yrs later OUR nation and system of government was Providentially brought about prayerfully by the Founding peoples that had to protect Rights, hearth, home and family from absolute spiritual, economic and legal tyranny by the British Crown(with firearms); ie- the Lord had a purpose for this nation with repercussions for the entire world.
These were Godly manly men with great learning, wisdom, courage, Faith, discretionary wisdom and critical thinking skills.
Imagine America never existed- in viewing the long dark history of mankinds past = quite bleak I’d say.
Complaceny is always man’s enemy- esp spoiled generations living a blessed life-
    as habituated entitlement ~!
