10 Mind-Blowing Facts About Hurricane Michael – The 3rd Most Powerful Hurricane Ever To Make Landfall In The U.S.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this.  Hurricane Michael was supposed to be a relatively minor storm as hurricanes go, but it just kept getting stronger and stronger as it approached the Florida panhandle.  And when it finally did make landfall, it was an absolutely monstrous storm with sustained maximum winds of 155 miles per hour.  If those winds had reached 157 miles per hour, it would have been a Category 5 storm.  It truly was a “lawnmower from the sky” that shredded just about everything it encountered as it slammed into a part of the country that was very ill-prepared for a storm of this magnitude.  Hundreds of thousands of people are already without power, and as you will see below, one major outlet is warning that “most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months”. Only 9 Percent Of Households In South Carolina And Only 3 Percent Of Households In North Carolina Have Flood Insurance

A lot of people are going to be financially ruined by Hurricane Florence.  As you will see below, only 9 percent of all homeowners in South Carolina have flood insurance, and up in North Carolina that figure drops to just 3 percent.  That means that well over 90 percent of the people that will be affected by this storm do not have any financial protection against flooding whatsoever.  Florence is expected to slowly churn over the region for the next several days, and it is being projected that this massive storm could dump up to 10 trillion gallons of water on the Carolinas.  Needless to say, that amount of water is going to do an extraordinary amount of damage, and thousands upon thousands of households are at risk of losing everything because they aren’t carrying insurance. It Is Now Being Projected That Florence Will Be The Most Expensive Hurricane To Ever Hit The United States

We all knew that Hurricane Florence was going to be bad, but now it is being projected that it will cause more economic damage than any other storm in all of U.S. history.  As you will see below, one firm is estimating that the total damage from Florence could cost “more than $170 billion”, and that would put it into first place by a substantial margin.  At this point, meteorologists are telling us that Florence may only be a Category 2 or a Category 3 storm by the time it makes landfall, but we need to remember that Hurricane Katrina was just a Category 3 storm when it hit New Orleans.  But what made Katrina so damaging was the fact that it was so large, and Florence is getting bigger in size with each passing day.  In addition, forecasters are also now telling us that Florence is expected to “stall” just off the east coast and could potentially linger there “for days”(Read More...)

Obama Campaigns In Vegas While Storm Victims Defecate In The Hallways And Rummage Through Garbage Dumpsters For Food

Will Hurricane Sandy turn out to be Obama’s Katrina?  When the storm first hit, the media was full of praise for the way that Barack Obama was handling the crisis.  But that was just based on the bold statements that Obama was making at the time.  If those statements are not backed up by actions, what good are they?  Obama has always been good with words.  Unfortunately, several days after the storm it has become apparent that the federal response to Hurricane Sandy has been absolutely nightmarish.  Large areas affected by the storm are still without power, and authorities now say that some power outages could persist until late November.  Due to the lack of power and widespread transportation disruptions, very few gas stations are open right now.  On Thursday, officials estimated that more than 80 percent of the gas stations in New Jersey were closed, and the lines at the stations that were still open were so long that some people had to wait for up to six hours for gasoline.  Meanwhile, people are running out of food and they are getting desperate.  There have been news reports that show hungry people rummaging through garbage dumpsters for food.  There have been other reports of people actually defecating in the hallways because they have nowhere else to go.  If you don’t believe this, just check out this video from NBC News.  So what is “President” Obama doing about all of this?  Well, after his 90 minute tour of the devastation that Hurricane Sandy caused, he jetted off to Las Vegas where he posed for pictures with Eva Longoria and did some last minute campaigning. How To Prepare For A Hurricane? Some Lessons That Preppers Can Learn From Hurricane Sandy

If you are just starting to prepare for Hurricane Sandy, the truth is that you are already too late.  Most of the essential supplies have already been stripped from store shelves.  If you don’t have an emergency generator, you might be without power for quite some time.  It is being estimated that up to 10 million people could lose power during this storm, and it is already being projected that some people may end up being without power for a week or more in the worst hit areas.  Hopefully you have already boarded up your windows.  They can be broken very easily during a hurricane, and you certainly don’t want to be dealing with a broken window during the worst moments of the storm.  Those that have prepared ahead of time are likely to be in good shape to ride this storm out, but sadly the reality is that most people have not prepared ahead of time.  Every time a major storm or natural disaster strikes, we always see the same thing happen.  Hordes of half-crazed people storm into the stores hoping to find the things that they need, and many of them end up leaving disappointed because what they were looking for has already sold out.  Thankfully, most of our “disasters” have typically only lasted a few days at most, but what will happen someday if a disaster ends up being permanent?  What if there is a disaster that is so bad someday that things never return to “normal”?  Would you and your family be able to survive on only the preparations that you have made so far? 55 Percent Of Americans Believe That The Government Will Take Care Of Them If Disaster Strikes

If a major emergency happened in the United States, do you have faith that the government would take care of you?  Amazingly, even after all of the examples to the contrary that we have seen in recent years, a solid majority of all Americans actually believe that the government will be there for them when things hit the fan.  According to a new survey conducted by the Adelphi University Center for Health Innovation, 55 percent of Americans believe that the authorities will come to their rescue when disaster strikes.  Sadly, most Americans still view the government as a “nanny state” that has both the capability and the willingness to take care of them from the cradle to the grave.  Most Americans still have faith that the government will come through for them when they need it the most.  But all we have to do is look back at what happened during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to realize what a crock of baloney that is.  Hurricane Katrina was a disaster that was limited to a relatively small geographic area, and yet we all saw how the response of the federal government was a complete and utter failure.  So what is going to happen someday if there is a nationwide disaster that stretches on for months or even years?  Do you really believe that the federal government will be there for you?
