Unless Someone Gets To 1,237 Delegates, The Republican Convention Is Going To Be A Giant Mess

Republican Convention - Photo by William Beutler2016 is turning out to be the strangest election season that we have seen in decades, and it may soon get far stranger.  At this point, most people assume that Donald Trump is going to be the Republican nominee, and without a doubt he has had a tremendous amount of success.  But because most of the states so far have apportioned delegates proportionally, Trump only has 44.8 percent of the delegates that have been awarded up to this point.  So Trump is going to have to do significantly better through the rest of the process in order to get to the magic number of 1,237 delegates, especially since not all of the delegates are awarded through the primaries and caucuses.  As Real Clear Politics has detailed, every state “is awarded so-called ‘RNC delegates,’ who are party officials with automatic credentials to the convention“. During an appearance on Sirius XM’s “Breitbart News Daily” on Tuesday morning, Trump stated that the Turkish government “looks like they’re on the side of ISIS more or less based on the oil”. This makes Trump the first presidential candidate to tell the truth about this to the American people. By now, just about everyone knows that ISIS is using Turkey as a home base, and I have previously written about how Turkey is “training ISIS militants, funneling weapons to them, buying their oil, and tending to their wounded in Turkish hospitals”. But a major U.S. politician, especially one running for the White House, could get into really hot water for saying these kinds of things about our NATO ally. You see, the truth is that the American people are not supposed to know that Turkey is actually on the same side as ISIS and has been facilitating the sale of hundreds of millions of dollars of oil that has been stolen by ISIS. Earlier this week, an interview with Donald Trump on Fox & Friends made headlines all over the world.  During that interview, Trump stated that he was “absolutely thinking about” running for president in 2012.  But what didn’t get as much attention is why Donald Trump is so motivated to possibly run for president.  It turns out that Donald Trump is horrified by how China (and other nations as well) are absolutely taking advantage of the United States in global trade.  Trump put it this way during the interview: “China is just ripping this country like nobody has ever ripped us before.”  And you know what?  Donald Trump is absolutely right about this.  You see, China has been openly manipulating its currency for years and years so that their products are far cheaper than those produced in America.  This has put entire industries out of business in the United States.  Not only that, but China also openly subsidizes many of their industries, thus giving them a competitive advantage over U.S. businesses and our government does nothing about it.  In addition, China has exploited the fact that they allow their workers to be paid near slave labor wages to attract thousands upon thousands of factories and manufacturing facilities to their shores.  China dumps massive amounts of cheap goods on our shores while openly discriminating against many U.S. good and services.  This kind of unfair trade has enabled the Chinese government to pile up hundreds of billions of dollars in excess currency reserves which it ends up lending back to the U.S. government.  Basically, China is running a massive scam on us and is getting tremendously wealthy in the process.
