The Democrats And The Mainstream Media Are Gloating As If They Had Just Won The Super Bowl

The government shutdown is over, Roger Stone has been arrested, and the left is having a field day on social media.  And even though we could have another government shutdown in just 3 weeks, the Democrats and the mainstream media are acting as if they had just won the lottery, the World Series and the Super Bowl all on the same day.  Of course we would expect those on the left to openly celebrate after the stunning turn of events that we witnessed on Friday, but what has been surprising is how eagerly the mainstream media has joined in on the celebration.  Over and over again, reporters are gleefully using the word “caved” to describe what just happened.  For example, the following comes from a CNN article entitled Donald Trump caved. And now the government is going to re-open.”(Read More...)

#ShutdownStories: If Federal Workers Are Suffering This Much After 4 Days, How Bad Will It Be When The Government Is Still Closed In February?

After just 4 days, federal workers are flocking to social media to share heart-wrenching stories of the misery and pain that they are suffering through because of the current government shutdown.  As you will see below, it is being claimed that some federal workers were actually forced to return Christmas presents just so that they could afford to pay their mortgages, others are claiming that President Trump “destroyed Christmas”, and the wife of one federal worker says that she is going to have to kill her cat if this shutdown goes much longer.  You couldn’t make this stuff up even if you tried, and it makes one wonder how these people would survive if a real national crisis actually erupted. Government Shutdown 2011? – 16 Things You Need To Know

Is it actually going to happen?  Are we actually going to see “Government Shutdown 2011”?  Will the streets of Washington D.C. soon be eerily quiet as hundreds of thousands of federal workers are temporarily sent home?  Right now Barack Obama, Harry Reid and John Boehner all say that they want to reach a deal and avoid a government shutdown, but the deadline is coming up fast.  The current spending bill that the government is operating under expires at the end of Friday.  If the Republicans and the Democrats do not come to an agreement before then, the U.S. government will “shut down” at 12:01 AM Saturday morning.  The Republicans have proposed a plan to extend government funding for one more week so that negotiations may continue, but the Democrats have rejected it.  Obama has summoned Reid and Boehner to the White House tonight in an attempt to hash out a deal, but most observers are not particularly optimistic.  Sadly, government debt is going to expand at a mind blowing pace this year no matter who wins this battle. Government Shutdown 2011? 5 Reasons Why It Wouldn’t Really Matter Either Way

Is the U.S. government going to shutdown on March 4th, 2011?  Possibly.  The current temporary funding extension expires on that day.  Speaker of the House John Boehner has pledged that the Republicans in the House will not pass another temporary funding extension that does not include “deep” cuts.  Barack Obama has pledged that he will veto the 61 billion dollars of budget cuts that the House of Representatives has just passed.  So now Boehner and Obama are playing a really bizarre game of chicken, and if neither of them blinks the U.S. government will shut down on March 4th.  So what will that mean?  Well, in a “government shutdown”, the entire government does not actually shut down.  Rather, only “essential personnel” are kept on during a shutdown and only “essential services” are provided.  Barack Obama would keep showing up at the White House and the U.S. military would continue to do their thing.  But it would cause a temporary disruption to a lot of government activities that people normally rely on.
