Barack Obama’s All-Out Attack On Israel

obama-public-domainDuring the very last month of his presidency, Barack Obama has decided to launch an all-out attack on Israel. On Friday, Barack Obama’s decision to allow UN Security Council resolution 2334 to pass without a veto was the greatest betrayal of Israel in modern American history, and now there are reports that the Obama administration is planning to introduce another resolution that would officially recognize a Palestinian state. Throughout his eight years in the White House, many have accused Obama of being the most anti-Israel president in our history, and now he is proving them right. Obama has also been accused of harboring sympathies for the agenda of the radical Islamic world, and at this point it is hard to argue that he doesn’t. Everyone always knew that Obama greatly disliked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but the way that Obama is currently behaving goes way beyond just being vindictive.

If it wasn’t for the election of Donald Trump, there would be little hope of salvaging U.S.-Israeli relations at this point. On Twitter, Newt Gingrich actually used the phrase “waging war” to describe what Obama is doing to Israel…

Meanwhile, back in the US, Newt Gingrich continued his outspoken ways, and slammed President Obama for not vetoing the resolution, likening the move to a “war” against the key ally in the Middle East. “Why is the Obama team waging war against Israel? Why are they taking steps to isolate and then kill a democracy and an ally?” Gingrich tweeted.

“President-elect Trump must prepare a comprehensive offensive for Jan 29 to undo the damage to Israel the Obama team is inflicting.”

“Congress should pass resolutions January 3-4 condemning Obama attacks on Israel and demanding he not participate in French or (U.N. Security Council) attacks,” Gingrich, a key Trump ally, wrote online.

I can’t help but agree with Gingrich on this point. Barack Obama definitely seems to be acting out a secret vendetta against Israel during the last few days of his presidency.

And there seems to be little doubt that it was Obama that was the driving force behind the passage of UN Security Council resolution 2334. In fact, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that the information that his government has been given has led him to the conclusion that Obama “initiated it, stood behind it, coordinated on the wording and demanded that it be passed”

Netanyahu escalated his criticism of the U.S. for abstaining, even accusing President Obama of orchestrating the resolution himself.

From the information that we have, we have no doubt that the Obama administration initiated it, stood behind it, coordinated on the wording and demanded that it be passed,” Netanyahu said in Hebrew.

According to the Times of Israel, Israel’s ambassador plans to pass this evidence along to Donald Trump once he takes office…

Israel’s ambassador to the United States said Tuesday that the country will present President-elect Donald Trump with “evidence” that the Obama administration orchestrated an anti-settlement resolution at the United Nations Security Council on Friday.

Now that resolution 2334 has passed and there hasn’t been much of a global uproar, the Obama administration has been emboldened to go for broke and push for another resolution which would grant full UN Security Council recognition to a Palestinian state. In the article that I just posted on The Economic Collapse Blog, I explained that this resolution would use the 1967 ceasefire lines as the basis for the borders between the Israelis and the Palestinians, it would include “land-swaps” so that most Israeli settlers in the West Bank could stay where they currently are, and it would officially designate East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital.

Needless to say, the events of the past several days have absolutely infuriated Netanyahu and the rest of his government. On Sunday, Netanyahu ordered the Israeli Foreign Ministry to suspend all ties with 12 of the nations that voted in favor of resolution 2334…

Activities involving the embassies of Britain, France, Russia, China, Japan, Ukraine, Angola, Egypt, Uruguay, Spain, Senegal and New Zealand will be suspended, and the ambassadors of those countries will not be received at Israel’s Foreign Ministry, an official said.

And in a show of defiance against resolution 2334, the Israelis have approved the construction of hundreds of new housing units in areas that the UN Security Council says belong to the Palestinians. The following comes from the Jerusalem Post

Three days after the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution condemning Jewish construction over the 1949 armistice line, multiple sources reported on Wednesday that the Jerusalem Municipality will approve hundreds of housing units in contested areas.

Angered by what the council deemed an “illegal” and “flagrant violation” of international law, Jerusalem’s Local Committee for Building and Construction is prepared to approve the construction of 618 homes, Haaretz reported on Monday.

The approvals will purportedly include 262 units in Ramat Shlomo, 216 in Ramot and 142 in Pisgat Ze’ev. Additionally, the municipality’s District Zoning Committee is expected to discuss approval of 5,600 more residential units in Gilo, Ramot and Givat Hamatos when it meets on Wednesday, according to Israel Hayom.

In addition, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman is encouraging all Jewish people living in France to leave and come home to Israel

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Monday called on French Jews to leave their country to protest a Paris-hosted conference planned for next month aimed at restarting Palestine-Israel peace talks, Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth has reported.

The Israeli government has repeatedly stated in recent months that it would not participate in the conference, which is scheduled to be held on Jan. 15 with the participation of representatives from 70 countries.

Speaking at a meeting of his right-wing Yisrael Beiteinu party, Lieberman reportedly said: “Perhaps it’s time to tell the Jews of France, ‘This isn’t your country, this isn’t your land. Leave France and come to Israel’.”

If Donald Trump had not won the election, the Israeli government would be severely lashing out at the U.S. as well.

Many are hoping that Trump can repair some of the damage that has been done to U.S.-Israeli relations, and Trump already appears to have a very good working relationship with Netanyahu.

But there will be certain things that Trump will not be able to undo.

For example, any UN Security Council resolutions that are passed while Obama is still in office will not be able to be reversed. It would take another vote of the Security Council to reverse a resolution once it has been adopted, and the votes simply would not be there to do that. And even if Trump could cobble together the votes needed, either Russia or China could just use their veto power to block Trump.

On November 17th, I warned that we would be in “the danger zone” until January 20th, and I specifically warned about the kind of UN Security Council resolution that was just passed.

Over the next several weeks, Barack Obama can still do quite a bit more damage to Israel, and the biggest thing that we are watching for is a potential UN Security Council resolution that would formally recognize a Palestinian state.

That would essentially be “the nuclear option”, and without a doubt it would set the stage for a major war in the Middle East.

I have always warned that the worst of Obama was still ahead of us, and we are seeing that play out right in front of our eyes.

Unfortunately, what is happening doesn’t just have implications for Obama and Israel.

By betraying Israel like this, Obama is greatly cursing America, and ultimately the consequences of his very foolish decisions will be felt by every man, woman and child in the entire country.
