There Are 747,000 Registered Sex Offenders In The United States

PredatorAmerica has just about reached a new milestone – we currently have close to three quarters of a million registered sex offenders in this country.  According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, there are 747,408 registered sex offenders in the United States right now.  And those are just the ones that have been caught and convicted.  How many more sickos are running around out there that we don’t even know about?  This isn’t just a problem – this is a national epidemic of unprecedented proportions.  Once upon a time in America, you could let your children run around the neighborhood and play without giving it a second thought.  But now you have to watch your kids like a hawk because there are literally millions of twisted individuals out there that would love to get their hands on them if they could.  We have become a nation that is absolutely obsessed with sex, and it is destroying us.

These days, you don’t have to work for a major news organization to “catch a predator”.  In fact, one father up in Michigan recently caught a 22-year-old man with condoms in his pockets coming over to have sex with his 13-year-old daughter.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Fortunately, the father intervened and captured the young man.  He even took a video of this young man confessing what he had intended to do

But of course that is far from an isolated incident.  Just check out these statistics about sex offenders in the United States…

-There are 747,408 registered sex offenders in the United States today.

-That number has risen by 23.2 percent just since 2006.

-There are 106,216 registered sex offenders in the state of California alone.

Close to nine out of every 10 sex crimes are committed by individuals that do not have any record of ever committing a sex crime before.

18 percent of all women in the United States say that they have been raped at some point in their lives.

More than 50 percent of all rapes take place within one mile of the home.

43 percent of all rapes take place between 6 PM and midnight.

-Teens that are in the 16 to 19 year old age bracket are 3 1/2 times more likely than the general population “to be the victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault.”

60 percent of male sex abuse victims and 80 percent of female sex abuse victims “are abused by someone known to the child or the child’s family.”

-Approximately 20 percent of all child sexual abuse victims in the United States are under the age of 8.

-It is estimated that one out of every four girls will be sexually abused before they become adults.

Unfortunately, most of the time we never even hear about what is happening in the dark corners of America.  When someone does shine a light on the filth once in a while, it can be absolutely shocking

Texas authorities said Tuesday they removed 11 children from a crowded home where a registered sex offender lives after they found eight confined in a small, dark bedroom with restraints tying some to their beds.

Along with the children, 10 adults were living in the one-story, 1,700-square-foot home in Dayton, about 30 miles northeast of Houston, Child Protective Services spokeswoman Gwen Carter said. One month after a raid on the house, authorities are still trying to determine how the children are related and why they were there, she said.

Is there any punishment that is too harsh for those that would treat children like that?

Unfortunately, this kind of thing is becoming increasingly common.

People seem to be getting sicker and more twisted with each passing year.

So why is all of this happening?

Well, a major factor is what we have been feeding into our minds…

-An astounding 30 percent of all Internet traffic now goes to adult websites.

70 percent of all men in the 18 to 24 year old age bracket visit at least one adult website each month.

-The average high school boy spends two hours on adult websites every single week.

-Law enforcement officials estimate that about 600,000 Americans and about 65,000 Canadians are trading dirty child pictures online.

-It has been estimated that 89 percent of all pornography is produced in the United States.

When we put garbage in, we get garbage out.

In this kind of moral environment, some men will actually jump into septic tanks full of human excrement and wait there hoping to get a glimpse of something…

Peeping Toms are always creepy in that they covertly observe victims against their will and without their knowledge. But these antics become ever more troubling when certain voyeurs take extraordinary actions to engage in and fulfill their twisted and secretive conquests. Take, for instance, the allegations against Kenneth Webster Enlow, 52, a purported peeping Tom who reportedly hid inside a septic tank and stared up at women from beneath public toilets.

Yes, you read that correctly. After being discovered underneath a public restroom, Enlow has been charged with a peeping Tom complaint. He was caught in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, after a woman took her 7-year-old daughter to the bathroom at a local park.

When the got inside the bathroom, the mother and daughter duo were in for a surprise. Enlow was allegedly staring up at them from inside the toilet.

Is this the way that we want to live?

Oh, but if you even mention words like “morality” and “purity” people look at you like you are crazy.

We have more than 747,000 registered sex offenders running around in this country, but we are told that there is nothing wrong with the moral compass of the American people.

So what do you think?

What do you believe the solution to this problem is?

Please feel free to share your opinion by posting a comment below…

what proof is there that there is a link between adult pornography and child molestors?

  • Anonymous

What’s really troubling is what goes on institutional churches today. For example, last Fall a lawsuit was filed against Sovereign Grace Ministries (based in Maryland) alleging that as early as 1987 SGM was on notice that sexual predation of children in SGM churches was occurring but that leaders in SGM churches protected the predators by not informing law enforcement authorities. I read part of the original lawsuit filing, and it is extremely disturbing. Amazingly, in May of this year the lawsuit was dismissed due to the Statute of Limitations. The judge ruled that the alleged victims needed to sue within 3 years of turning 18. However, an amended lawsuit has been filed.

Sadly, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I don’t mention this to try to cast aspersions on Christianity. I am a Christian. But this kind of stuff shows the sad state of the Church today. This is just one reason why I left institutional churches several years ago.

    • Jim Jones

Going to lump all churches into this issue? Don’t you understand how the devil works? There will always be tares in the church and carnal Christians. The lost world does not understand the spiritual; you need to grow, get serious about your Bible.

  • graphicartist2k5

what do you really expect to happen, when pornography is EVERYWHERE, and i do mean EVERYWHERE?!? are you REALLY surprised to see such a sharp rise in sexual predators, when american’s overall attitude towards pornography has been one huge “MEH, it’s not THAT big of a deal! i can handle it”? SERIOUSLY!!!!! what’s worse is the reality that most american churches won’t even TOUCH the issue of pornography, and that is most likely due to someone in the leadership having their own issues with porn, all the while they’re getting up and preaching whatever messages to their respective congregations, and we wonder why rapes are taking place in so many churches. (blank stare)

Don´t be gutless and blame porn, guns or video games.

Just like John Doe, blame the sinners.

747,408 despicable pervs /232,000,000 adults in the US = .3% that’s POINT THREE PERCENT! Your kids are safe from predators. They’re out there, they’re worthy of a .45 in the head, but they’re EXTREMELY rare.
There’s too much fear being peddled these days.

    • David

      “747,408 despicable pervs”

      “but they’re EXTREMELY rare”

Lets say 52 States thats 14,373 perverts per US State. Those kind of numbers I would not take a chance with my childs life. I would not say this article is fearmongering.

Kill the Pornographic Industry for one!

      • coolmzn222

If anything, getting rid of porn would make the problem worse

there’s a huge demand for porn and if it’s removed rapes and other sexual offenses will probably RISE since porn’s probably one of the only thing that are keeping a lot of creeps from going out and raping someone to satisfy the lust

        14 thousand perverts per state

average population of a US state

        6.1096 million people

there’s also the fact that not all sex offenders are creeps, you can get put on the registry for being caught pissing outside (why you’d do this, i dunno, maybe there’s no bathroom)

      • rejco

        The USA has 50 states…

The 747,408 numeric is a figure based in large part on an acknowledged statistical estimate (the term estimate utilized in this instance as a metaphorical analogy referencing the acknowledged documentation of sex offenders over a particular timeframe, because said figure increases invariably over a period of time it cannot be accurately characterized as absolute) proffered by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as a point of reference regarding documented incidences of sexual misconduct. The aforementioned numeric should not be viewed as an accurate measure for all incidences of sexual impropriety, but rather as an indicator. Undocumented incidences of sexual abuse, were they to be formally acknowledged, would increase the total mentioned at the start of this article considerably higher.

We amputate most of the genitals of sons of poor, black, and ill-informed parents to try to decrease their population which hasn’t worked for 130 years. The amputation includes the ribs, most of the sexual nerves, and the protection for the remaining stub. The victim needs girlfriend tongue studs, ribbed condoms, and later will need viagra, or other chemicals to attempt getting normal sexual satisfaction and to fake normal human sex. In 18 states, medicaid laws partial protect sons of poor parents but not the other two groups. For 32 states, what the eugenicist step up still goes.
Now, we wonder why sons of poor, black, and ill-informed have sexual issues.

  • Rdawg

“A national epidemic of unprecedented proportions”? This is sensationalism at its very worst. Unfortunately, these kinds of people have been around since the dawn of mankind. I suspect the problem seems worse today because it is more closely tracked, we have better records, and – like this article – it is talked about more often. Moreover, the idea that viewing pornography is causing sex crimes like rape or pedophilia is just nonsense. I live in Utah, which has the highest rate of porn consumption per capita. Yes, that’s right. Why isn’t rape and other sexually oriented crime rampant here?
Having said all that, I would be okay with locking up sex offenders and throwing away the key. Those people are broken.

Porn destroys men. Before serial killer Ted Bundy was executed he mentioned how porn had laid the foundation for his killing spree.

    • Hammerstrike

Don´t blame porn, prostitution, video games or chemtrails.

Take the example of John Doe, blame the sinner instead.

    • coolmzn222

yes because he totally didn’t have some serious mental problems beforehand
one sick man claiming it was his influence =/= it’ll do it to everyone

  • Michael, you point to sex offenders as an epidemic. While morality in our society is waning, to be sure, it doesn’t necessarily mean that people are becoming sexual deviants in droves. It could mean that people have learned that the justice system will publicly destroy anyone who another person simply says, “He [She] touched me.” No physical evidence is required. No past sexual misconduct. Simply someone’s word.

So, is the epidemic that our society is producing sexual deviants at an alarming rate? Or, is it full of deceitful individuals trying to put someone away because they have some kind of beef with them?

If you look further into the statistics, especially in Oklahoma, you’ll find that divorce cases where custody is an issue are increasingly ending in criminal charges being placed on one of the parents because the other has made the claim that they were inappropriate with the child[ren]. It’s a great way to do away with a spouse you have a beef with, get custody, and anything else you want in a follow up civil case. It’s pathetic. It’s the modern day witch hunt.

We here at the US~Observer get cases all the time where people are falsely accused of these crimes. Their lives get ruined from the moment their local paper prints their name and photo along with the allegations of their “crime.”

Furthermore, how many times do people say something that isn’t true in order to gain attention? Playing the victim is a great way to do it, and society is being indoctrinated into this mindset. I could go on and on…

I have to say, Michael, this is the first time I disagree with one of your articles. There is definitely more to meet the eye than mere statistics.

You’re still on my list of top reads, to be sure, but please revisit this with clearer lenses.

The only proof I could point to (without further research) would be the decline in moral values.

If a person cannot control their actions, they clearly cannot control their mind. Thoughts produce actions. How many consider the implications of those actions?

Perhaps we need to be more “consciously aware” of our behaviour, rather than let desire (etc) dictate what we do.

Whilst relations of this nature at “13”were apparently common place in previous cultures, it does not suit our own for a multitude of reasons. That is why it is regulated by Statute.

    • graphicartist2k5

actions come from thoughts, not the other way around, which means if you cannot control your thoughts, then your actions will be a direct reflection of that reality, and if all that most men are exposed to is a pornographic form of sex, then that’s what they’re going to see in their mind’s eye as “normal”, and thus they will act on what their mind tells them is “normal”, and shows them as “normal”. it’s seriously not hard to understand why there’s so many sexual predators, given the sheer amount of men that think of porn as “normal”, and are EXTREMELY insecure concerning themselves as men.

    • Gay Veteran

Interesting that it is the Bible Belt that consumes the most porn

  • BohemianKyle

No doubt we are a very sexual and perverted society, but that doesn’t mean every registered sex offender is actually guilty of a “true” sex crime as the public understands it.

Peeing in an ally, skinny-dipping in the middle of the night, an 18 year old making-out with a 17 year old, two consensual adults in the backseat of a car, changing clothes at the beach, streaking, and other such activities all ludicrously equate to sex offenses.

Furthermore, lewd acts on the body of a child under the age of 14 can be a minimal as instructing a child to comb his/her hair — as long as sexual gratification was received, and even without manifestation of gratification.

The whole process has become big business which destroys lives in the course of feeding itself, and actually endangers the public by diluting the database of true sex offenders with all those caught up in silliness. Stop with the scare tactics and let’s have true justice based upon the weight of each individual action; not lifetime sex offenders for every bad decision which only serves to make the politicians look good by cracking down on all these demonized sex offenders (most of whom are less perverted than the politician who makes the laws)!

  • Paul

If Weiner gets elected you will have a pervert as mayor of New York City. LOL.

  • jerry

While I agree that there are some really sick people out there that need to removed from society, please be aware that if you’re caught urinating in public, looking at child porn on-line that someone else put out there, or even a child that might be a little too curious you will be labeled as a registered sex offender for the rest of your life. Instead of going after the few sick individuals, our govt. has passed laws that lump everyone into the mix. just another govt. screw up that can’t be fixed.

    • Brasky Bill

Exactly!! These laws are so stupid! And nothing but media propaganda. Even down to the re-offending rates. The majority of the so-called statistics are made up. The people who have actually done the research and gotten the real numbers say that the actual recidivism rate is VERY LOW. And it’s people like this, who wrote this article, that skew things and misguide people. Fear mongering. It’s the latest witch-hunt in America. In the 80’s, it was crack addicts and drug dealers. Now if you urinate on the side of the road like Jerry said, you could get lumped into the same category as someone who raped a 3 year old. HOW IS THAT THE SAME?? or even considered justice????

    • Dempsey Levi

not to mention the registries have never ounce proven to stop a crime (recent cases and all statistical evidence shows they actually increase crime) . On top of that the government cries about human trafficking while peddling children some as young as 5 years old on their registries for public humiliation, vigilantism, and torture..Not to mention all the poor children killed, beat, sexually harassed, and tormented by the public because they have a parent who was placed on the registry trap..what a hypocritical system.

    • jsn

I now a 7 yr old that played dr with a girl and he was registered but the girl that started it wasn’t

  • Allan Wu

    Extremely concerning and fascinating

I will bet smart* money (emphasis on smart :p)

That the many sex offenders and rapists, were themselves abused and victims

“60 percent of male sex abuse victims and 80 percent of female sex abuse victims “are abused by someone known to the *child or the child’s family*.”

No way does it make their crime excusable – but one can’t nip the bud , if what we do is lock up – like we’re doing now

I can’t believe theres no attempt to classify things like this as a health crisis or the sort- for the sake of finding solutions, Take the time and analyze the situation for goodness sake.

Its 2013- we can build tablet pocket computers with touch screens but we don’t know why so many people are going nuts and wanting to capitalize on young people smh

  • seth datta

Letting criminals out keeps the public in fear and hence clamoring for/justifying the police state.

    • coolmzn222

      there’s an easy solution
make prison more for rehabilitation than what it is now
prison now will only make the criminals into even BETTER criminals

  • Andrew_S

Under the auspice of agenda 21 and the rules applied to the Westen hemisphere the new pogram against males is a tried and tested formula. Most of these dramatic figures are generated from not criminal courts but feminist formed courts with special rules. There are examples but I cite them as food for thought.

Any place where a male is in public for example, and decides to urinate, even in their own back yard. If observed by a reporter who is a public official, a female or even a child, the perp is automatically a sexual no drop policy sexual offender. If a female is under eighteen depending on the disposition of her parents or her testimony a male even if they are GF and BF is automatically a sexual offender. They can subsequently even get married and have kids, but the guy will always be a sexual offender. The composition of such perps is registered in a civilian database not a criminal one, just as tracking information for anything related to money.

From family courts many fathers perhaps up to a hundred thousand a year are accused of incestual behavior and the laws have been changed as they all will, to immediately find a male guilty by a mere accusation even if the guy was as clean as a whistle before the divorce or dispute. The criteria is simply to ensure no male ever gets custody of children or the case must always qualify the federal rule of no more than 14% of parental time will be allocated to males. So much so that in each state every new governership the national emergency procedures to enact special laws are duly signed for federal incentives and tax deductions for each state. It is a business, quite simply.

After all if a secular christian nation directed by white males can be so corrupt and sexually evil, then in the US we may as well call it not the United estates, but the new Sodom and Gomorrah.

The welfare program only serves females and the courts need all the methods to qualify each case where children are involved as TANF children Basically as a cash crop..

Males subsequently registered as perps in civil courts during custody disputes, endorse the nation of alienation under agenda 21, which requires less interaction between the sexes and especially males influence over children. Males are less likely to turn their children over to the state or it’s many enforcement agencies with incentives.

This lack of factual investigative reporting is as it’s intention from a claimed reporting male who knows where the bread is, and will live on reporting the crumbs. We just became the clarion for false flags, but we are a nation of something far worse. The good thing is the quality of children under the state raised doctrines of fear, no longer need to rely on families anymore, they need the direction of reporters like this one.

Not a hope of critical thinking, perhaps next he will blame the Muslimz or the Menanitz for such corruption who knows what goes on in the mind of a useful idiot. We are a as the book a true nation of bastards. The only requirement is like this reporter is and does to simply report and echo the states opinion.

  • Graham

    You have misread this paragraph:-

“If a person cannot control their actions, they clearly cannot control their mind. Thoughts produce actions. How many consider the implications of those actions?”

How close are we to becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah?
For pedophiles, I say bring back the death penalty. They can’t be rehabilitated.
All you young people out there, wait until you get married. Sex is totally meaningless in today’s society, and just because a guy wants to have sex with you doesn’t mean that he loves you (unless he’s your husband).

  • jaxon64

I am stunned by how many wankers have come out of the woodwork on this one to defend their porn addictions.

Not all of those who get their jollies from a confluence of colored pixels on a monitor are child molesters, however it is a good bet that almost all of the pervs out there who would harm a child are porn addicts.

Get a grip men–or loosen your grip—you are demeaned and degraded as a gender when you debase yourself to the level of isolated wankers who can’t have meaningful sexual relationships with an adult woman. Porn purveys the idea that all women ( and girls) are secretly lustful whores waiting to be submissive for your pleasures–it is this basis of porn which causes much of the sexual predation….

Now blast away at me with your defence of mas….ating to your little pixels….and fantasizing about those young daughters in their school clothes…sickos

  • Club racer

I agree with some of this but the article is acting like porn is so “evil” and it must be gotten rid of and I dnt agree with tht at all…

sorry, didnt realise america had 747,000 politicians, wow

  • Pat

“And those are just the ones that have been caught and convicted.”
Indeed. You accidentally acknowledged that the growth in the statistic indicates that more are being caught, not that there are more. Rising crime rates is often a good thing, for this and similar reasons.

I like how you go from 747,000 to “literally millions,” that didn’t take long. Not that all of the 747,000 are actually pedophiles in the first place.

Some of your stats are misleading, others are just irrelevant to make it look like you’ve got a more impressive list.
“43 percent of all rapes take place between 6 PM and midnight.”
…so? How’s that at all relevant to the discussion? Crime happens in the dark. That’s nothing to do with how much of it there is.

I had consensual sex with my 16 year old girlfriend in high school 20 years ago, her mom pressed charges I pled guilty to misdemeanor csc4 and got one year probation and a 200 dollar fine and i was forced to register as a sex offender, my picture is all over the internet at the stores at the post office. I cant get a good job this has ruined my life and this is going to stay on my adult record for life. I got pulled over for speeding “10 miles over the limit on a empty country road” The cop was hidden from view.I only got a warning but on the cops radio my friends and i could hear my name and sex offender, not one of my friends had anything to do with me after that. Once you do your punishment that should be the end of it, but it isn’t. I have had no other problems with the law and that was a first time offence. I’m not a child molester or a rapist. I was just a kid who had sex with his girlfriend in high school 20 years ago. Don’t you think its time to take the blue arrow off of my house?

    • reasonable

Bailiff,,, wack his pp off!!!! Ha, consider yourself lucky you didn’t get jail time,,, many in the same situation did, plus the registry afterwards. Things will find a balance, try to understand the pain that comes with true offenses,, it’s so great that people who aren’t really bad at all are being punished as well.

These are sponsored watchdog programs that enable government to monitor its citizens without any regard to the us constitution. yes they will be used as they are now on all citizens. what unconstitutional law you support today will be used against you at some point.

And you thought this wasn’t the case in the past? You are totally naive if you believe that something has changed. It has been this way for centuries.

We’re a nation absolutely obsessed with sex and it’s destroying us? Please! Pedophiles are not being produced because of people’s sexual fascination. They have always been here. Technology in police work and media makes us finally aware of them.

I’m more interested in why there are 800k children missing in the US! And how, of all pedophiles, the ones in positions of power have protection.

Instead of porn debates, directly ask your government officials why 1700 pentagon workers (caught during the investigation of 5k government workers) were never investigated. The government halted the investigation citing lame excuses. THis will allow the statute of limitation to run out! This could mean they’re protecting people who are much higher up than the ones they DID choose to pursue.

They only convicted 200 of them. A national security worker with 8k pictures and 200 child porn movies got ONLY 5 YEARS. Ask the media directly why they aren’t pushing this story. Ask everyone why people tune this out. Just put the words, PENTAGON, 1700, CHILD PORN into a search engine, and see what comes up. Instead of wasting time debating porn (which committed couples watch too..geeez, uptight puritans miss the point)….ask Dateline or 20/20 or 60 minutes if ANYONE has the balls to confront our government on the uncomfortable topic of child porn. We, as an entire country, should be on their case because kids canNOT defend themselves. Stop making this into partisan or religious bullshit. If you can’t stop debating and finger wagging long enough to help these kids, then it’s on you too, not just the government. A handful of people can’t fight on their own. smh
