Unless Someone Gets To 1,237 Delegates, The Republican Convention Is Going To Be A Giant Mess

Republican Convention - Photo by William Beutler2016 is turning out to be the strangest election season that we have seen in decades, and it may soon get far stranger.  At this point, most people assume that Donald Trump is going to be the Republican nominee, and without a doubt he has had a tremendous amount of success.  But because most of the states so far have apportioned delegates proportionally, Trump only has 44.8 percent of the delegates that have been awarded up to this point.  So Trump is going to have to do significantly better through the rest of the process in order to get to the magic number of 1,237 delegates, especially since not all of the delegates are awarded through the primaries and caucuses.  As Real Clear Politics has detailed, every state “is awarded so-called ‘RNC delegates,’ who are party officials with automatic credentials to the convention“. The Republican Establishment Has 4 Options It Can Try To Stop Trump, And None Of Them Are Good

Donald Trump Running For President - Photo by Michael VadonCivil war has erupted in the Republican Party, and the Republican establishment is in full-blown panic mode.  Donald Trump was never supposed to get this far, and now party insiders are scrambling to come up with a plan to block him from securing the nomination before the convention.  After winning seven states on Super Tuesday, you would think that the Republican Party would be rallying around Trump and preparing for a tough general election battle with Hillary Clinton.  Instead, the goal is now to stop Trump at all costs. Mitt Romney To Enter The Race? The Establishment’s Secret Plan B To Steal The Nomination From Trump

Mitt Romney - Photo by Mark TaylorIs Mitt Romney about to enter the race for the Republican nomination?  As I have written about repeatedly, the Republican establishment is absolutely desperate to keep Donald Trump out of the White House.  If it comes to it, they will move heaven and earth to make sure that he is defeated – even if that means Hillary Clinton wins the election.  Right now, Trump has won three of the first four contests on the schedule, and he is projected to win almost every state on Super Tuesday.  This would put him on a clear path toward winning the nomination, and so establishment insiders are in full-blown panic mode.  At this point, two different plans are being put forward for how to proceed if Trump continues to roll.  One is to have Marco Rubio exit the race so that Mitt Romney can run against Trump, and the other is to run a third party candidate against Trump and Clinton in the fall. Disaster For Donald Trump In Iowa And The Probability Of A Brokered Convention Just Went Way Up

Donald Trump Caricature - Photo from Max GoldbergThis isn’t how it was supposed to go for Donald Trump. Iowa was supposed to be the first in a series of convincing wins that would cement his status as the inevitable nominee of the Republican Party. But instead, Iowa dealt a very serious blow to Trump’s candidacy, and it threw the race for the Republican nomination wide open. Of course Trump is far from dead, but now New Hampshire becomes a must win for him. If Trump does not win in New Hampshire where he is heavily favored, he will be 0-2 and it will send the political sharks in the Republican Party into a feeding frenzy. As I will explain below, Trump needs to win at least 60 percent of the delegates before the convention to secure the nomination, and as I write this tonight it appears to be extremely doubtful that he will be able to do that. If he can only pull in 24 percent of the vote in Iowa, then he definitely does not have the overwhelming momentum that many people believed that he had. (Read More...)

How The Republican Establishment Can Keep Donald Trump From Getting The Nomination

Race For The Republican Nomination - Photo by Donkey HoteyIt is going to be much more difficult for Donald Trump to win the Republican nomination than most people think. In order to win the nomination, a candidate must secure at least 1,237 of the 2,472 delegates that are up for grabs. But not all of them will be won during the state-by-state series of caucuses and primaries that will take place during the first half of 2016. Of the total of 2,472 Republican delegates, 437 of them are unpledged delegates – and 168 of those are members of the Republican National Committee. And unless you have been hiding under a rock somewhere, you already know that the Republican National Committee is not a fan of Donald Trump. In order to win the Republican nomination without any of the unpledged delegates, Trump would need to win 60.78 percent of the delegates that are up for grabs during the caucuses and primaries. And considering that his poll support is hovering around 30 percent right now, that is a very tall order. (Read More...)

Donald Trump Dares To Say That Turkey ‘Looks Like They’re On The Side Of ISIS’

Donald Trump - Photo by Gage Skidmore on FlickrDonald Trump just said something that he was not supposed to say, and it is something that Barack Obama will never admit. During an appearance on Sirius XM’s “Breitbart News Daily” on Tuesday morning, Trump stated that the Turkish government “looks like they’re on the side of ISIS more or less based on the oil”. This makes Trump the first presidential candidate to tell the truth about this to the American people. By now, just about everyone knows that ISIS is using Turkey as a home base, and I have previously written about how Turkey is “training ISIS militants, funneling weapons to them, buying their oil, and tending to their wounded in Turkish hospitals”. But a major U.S. politician, especially one running for the White House, could get into really hot water for saying these kinds of things about our NATO ally. You see, the truth is that the American people are not supposed to know that Turkey is actually on the same side as ISIS and has been facilitating the sale of hundreds of millions of dollars of oil that has been stolen by ISIS. The Assault On Donald Trump Shows That Our 2 Party System Is Really A 1 Party System

Donald Trump CircleWere you sickened by the Republican debate the other night? The hype leading up to the debate was unbelievable. Never before had there been so much interest in a debate this early in an election season, and it turned out to be the most watched program on Fox News ever. A record-shattering 24 million Americans tuned in, and what they witnessed was an expertly orchestrated assault on Donald Trump. From the very first moments, every question that was launched at Trump was an “attack question”. And then the laughable “focus group” that followed was specifically designed to show that “ordinary people” were “changing their minds” about Trump. By the end of the evening, it was abundantly clear that Fox News had purposely intended to try to destroy Trump’s candidacy. (Read More...)

Republican Operatives Plot To Sabotage Trump – But That Could Turn Him Into Their Worst Nightmare

Donald Trump At Podium - Photo by Michael VadonCould Donald Trump become the next Ross Perot?  Right now, there is a push by Republican insiders to try to find a way to sabotage the Trump campaign and even potentially exclude him from future debates.  These Republican operatives claim that he is “damaging the party”, but what they really mean by that is that he is playing havoc with their plans of getting Jeb Bush into the White House.  You see, the truth is that most of the other Republican candidates are just there for window dressing.  All of the big money is already lining up behind Jeb Bush, and his campaign recently announced that it has already raised 114 million dollars.  Perhaps Scott Walker or Marco Rubio have an outside chance of contending with the Bush machine, but everyone else is just supposed to be cannon fodder and most of them know it.  If everything goes to plan, Bush will clinch the nomination very early, and that is precisely the way that the Republican establishment wants it. 21 Reasons Why Donald Trump Is Right – China Is Just Ripping This Country Like Nobody Has Ever Ripped Us Before

Earlier this week, an interview with Donald Trump on Fox & Friends made headlines all over the world.  During that interview, Trump stated that he was “absolutely thinking about” running for president in 2012.  But what didn’t get as much attention is why Donald Trump is so motivated to possibly run for president.  It turns out that Donald Trump is horrified by how China (and other nations as well) are absolutely taking advantage of the United States in global trade.  Trump put it this way during the interview: “China is just ripping this country like nobody has ever ripped us before.”  And you know what?  Donald Trump is absolutely right about this.  You see, China has been openly manipulating its currency for years and years so that their products are far cheaper than those produced in America.  This has put entire industries out of business in the United States.  Not only that, but China also openly subsidizes many of their industries, thus giving them a competitive advantage over U.S. businesses and our government does nothing about it.  In addition, China has exploited the fact that they allow their workers to be paid near slave labor wages to attract thousands upon thousands of factories and manufacturing facilities to their shores.  China dumps massive amounts of cheap goods on our shores while openly discriminating against many U.S. good and services.  This kind of unfair trade has enabled the Chinese government to pile up hundreds of billions of dollars in excess currency reserves which it ends up lending back to the U.S. government.  Basically, China is running a massive scam on us and is getting tremendously wealthy in the process.
