Police Officer Suffers Fractured Spine After Enraged Protester Drops Concrete Block On His Head

Police Vehicle - Public DomainThe innocent police officers that are being brutally attacked during this “summer of chaos” are real people with real hopes and real dreams.  Just like you and I, they want to work hard, raise their families and make this country a better place.  But now many of them have had their dreams for the future absolutely shattered by mindless violence.  After the massacre that we just witnessed in Dallas, I can’t imagine how anyone could possibly think that it would be a good idea to drop a concrete block on the head of a police officer.  What in the world would cause someone to sink that low?  Sadly, that is precisely what happened over the weekend in St. Paul, Minnesota, and now that police officer is suffering from a fractured spine

Authorities say during the course of the protests on 94 and later, on Grand and Dale, 21 officers from multiple agencies suffered injuries. The injuries were primarily caused by fireworks, rocks, bricks, glass bottles and chunks of concrete that were directed at officers, some hitting them in the head. St. Paul Police said someone threw a Molotov cocktail at officers, as well.

On Sunday evening, St. Paul Police learned one of the officers injured last night had a large concrete block dropped on his head. That officer is now suffering from a spinal fracture.

I happen to agree that police brutality in America is way out of control.  This is something that I have been writing about for years.  When it comes to law enforcement in this country, we need a complete and total cultural shift.

But dropping a concrete block on a man’s head is not going to solve anything.  Now that man could potentially be crippled for life, and his entire family is going to suffer deeply.

What would cause a person to do such a thing?  Sadly, we don’t have to search far for an answer.  We have taken God out of our homes, our schools, our businesses, our news, our entertainment and our government, and instead our young people are being constantly fed messages that are filled with anger, frustration, division, bitterness, resentment and hatred.

Now we are watching the fruit of these decisions, and everyone seems so shocked.

It was an agenda of hate that had been deeply internalized that drove 25-year-old former Army reservist Micah Johnson to start gunning down police officers in Dallas, Texas just a couple of days ago.

But the people that he was gunning down did not deserve to be shot.  In fact, we are learning some remarkable things about these particular officers.  For example, officer Lorne Ahrens actually bought dinner for a homeless man the day before he was ruthlessly murdered

There was a lot of Lorne Ahrens to love.

His size — 6-foot-5, 300 pounds —could intimidate, but his character was kindness.

The day before Ahrens, 48, was killed, he bought a homeless man dinner and encouraged fellow officers to greet the man, Jorge Barrientos, another Dallas police officer who was wounded, told the Dallas Morning News.

Ahrens volunteered, in uniform, at the school his 8-year-old and 10-year-old attended, said his mother-in-law, Karen Buckingham.

And Patrick Zamarripa had served three tours in Iraq before joining the force in Dallas…

Patrick Zamarripa had an urge to serve — first in the Navy, where his family said he did three tours in Iraq, then back home in Texas as a Dallas police officer.

“He went over there (to Iraq) and didn’t get hurt at all, and he comes back to the states and gets killed,” his father, Rick Zamarripa, told The Associated Press by phone Friday.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing that starts happening when a nation becomes lawless.  When people lose faith that the system will provide them with justice, then they start taking the law into their own hands.

But when the rule of law breaks down, things rapidly revert to the law of the jungle.  Karl Denninger put this very well in one of his recent articles

Let me start with this: Why do drug dealers shoot each other on street corners?

Answer: Joe the drug dealer cannot call the cops and tell them that Jack the drug dealer ripped him off and sold him a bag of oregano instead of weed.  Joe also can’t sue Jack.  Thus, when the threshold of his tolerance is crossed Joe has only the use of direct force available to him because he has no recourse to the law to settle his dispute with Jack.

The FIRST foundation of civil society is The Rule of Law.  Without it there is literally nothing other than the Law of the Jungle, commonly known as “he who has the biggest teeth (or the most guns) and is willing to use them first wins.”

As a society, we desperately need to find leaders that will begin the painful process of restoring faith in our deeply, deeply broken system.

And as a society, we desperately need to learn how to start loving one another no matter what we look like and no matter where we are from.

If we do not learn how to love one another, our country will surely die.  And no, I am not being overly dramatic when I say that.

Unfortunately, I believe that what we have seen so far is probably just the tip of the iceberg, and our government apparently feels the same way that I do.  The following comes from Martin Armstrong

The Federal government is arming every agency from the IRS to the State Department for domestic purposes. This is clearly a response to what they know is coming. There is no question that they are preparing for an uprising. They know that socialism is collapsing. Rather than reform the political economy, they are digging in their heels and getting ready to fight the civilian population. Many are starting to investigate this very unusual trend. This is very alarming. They are watching Europe and know any trend that starts there, always come here — not just fashion.

We all need to start praying a lot more than we have been, and one of the things that we should be praying for is peace in our nation.

We are getting very close to a “tipping point” after which events could potentially spiral completely out of control.

This cycle of violence is going to be very hard to stop, but it must be broken.

We must learn how to forgive one another, love one another and work with one another to heal this country.

The alternative is to continue on the path that we are currently on, and that is almost too horrible to contemplate.

I’m not a fan of the police either. It seems they have nothing better to do than sit in the center medians on your way into town to see what traffic violations they can find or make up to stop you for. They are used as money generators for the city. It seems to me there are probably way more important things they could be doing. But there again, new laws are made up so often, they are pawns in the game, just as we, the citizenry, are. Not to mention the militarization of police departments is crazy. What does a city with a population of 16,000 need with an MRAP?! Especially when they seem to have so much time to sit and watch traffic go by, or gather up at McDonalds in groups of four or five at a time? It may not be that way everywhere but it is where I live. That being said, those policemen in Dallas were murdered in cold blood. They had nothing to do with what occurred in other states. But it’s okay to hate and want to kill white people. The so called president won’t condemn this behavior, but just me commenting on it will get me called a racist. I don’t hate cops and I don’t hate black people. But there are wrongs on both sides. People will say Obama is a bad president. Not true. He has been very successful in doing what he said he wanted to do. Fundamentally change this country. Therein lies a big part of what we are seeing in this country.

For starters police killed 1100 people in America in 2014, an average of 3 per day. I don’t support any hate but the pot can’t call the kettle greasy.

          • amongoose

And blacks in Chicago may kill more blacks than that this year.
Why won’t the discussion include why so many black men have negative interactions with the police?

    • “The so called president won’t condemn this behavior,”

“So-called” President? Who exactly is our “so-called” President? Because our real President did indeed stop his European festivities to do precisely that — he condemned the living eff out of that behavior. He laid it on rather thick, to boot.

It won’t change anything in the minds of the demographic who keep getting murdered, but he DID very definitely express every right opinion on the matter.

      • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

Carrie, Obama did condemn the murders of the officers. And he did speak at the memorial service for them today. But he did just like the Black Lives Matter group does: he depicted the problem with police misconduct as purely racial. And that is quite a distortion. As we all know, victims of unjustifiable police shootings are black, white, Hispanic and sometimes canine. “Divider in Chief” Obama is indeed.

        • A.) Black Lives Matter doesn’t deny that police are murdering people of all colors/genders/etc., just like Susan G. Koman doesn’t deny that there are a hundred kinds of cancer to die from.

B.) ” obvious reason for lingering prejudice against black Americans: the fact that they are overrepresented in every category of crime. There’s a
reason for police to be suspicious of young black males”[…]

          Nope: latina{dot}co m/lifestyle/our-issues/police-officers-asked-target-blacks-latinos-lgbtq

Which do you think has more rabies — rural raccoons, or pet dogs? The answer is actually the raccoons, but truthfully I don’t trust your reasoning skills to know this. What the police are ordered to do by focusing on minorities only is akin to me telling animal control officers who are looking for rabid animals to FOCUS PRIMARILY on pet dogs, and to ignore the raccoon parts of town. Yep, the A.C. officers’ numbers will show more owned dogs with rabies simply because they focused mostly on those animals. The raccoons who actually have higher rabidity are simply being ignored, much like the majority of white folk who commit crime but never get stopped simply because they were given tacit immunity by police higher-ups.

Too many studies have shown that only a small percentage of pulled-over Blacks get caught with drugs, for instance, while a much higher percentage of whites are caught with drugs, but at smaller numbers… BECAUSE POLICE ARE NOT ORDERED TO HASSLE THEM.

I used to believe the lazy math too: “Welp, Blacks fill up more prisons, ergo Blacks must commit more crimes!” Again, NOPE. They are targeted systematically for stop ‘n frisks (something like 95% of Blacks say they’d been stopped/frisked/questioned), while less than 5% of whites have been so hassled. You’re simply going to find more criminal activity among the people you devote your arrest time to!

          • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

You don’t trust my reasoning skills? Oh come on. I am clearly not mentally challenged. And neither are you. But even granting that racial discrimination still exists, it does not explain by itself the high crime rates among black Americans. Can you explain away, for instance, the carnage that has been going on in Chicago by blaming law enforcement? Of course not.

          • I don’t doubt that you’re intelligent, but you cannot expect me to put super-faith in your reasoning skills right after you illustrate very poor reasoning.

As for the new goalposts having to do with Chicago, well, if I ever see you in a Disqus conversaton on that topic, I’ll be happy to spend as much of my chosen free time on that topic as I have on that day to give. The fact remains that people of color, LGBT, and the homeless are disproportionately targeted for arrests by law enforcement, while whites and wealthy folk are tacitly given free passes to commit as much crime as they can reasonably commit, with no fear in the slightest of being looked at by the police. Rabid raccoons who are never checked for rabies never get put down.

But come on, high-five me for getting those links through!

          • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

Carrie, I don’t deny that wealth has its advantages, nor that prejudice against minorities still exists. Your last statement, however, is astounding. Where’s MY free pass to commit a reasonable amount of crime?

          • If you’re white, clean-cut, well-mannered, or otherwise “invisible” to law enforcement, your free pass to commit “reasonable amount” of crime is written all over you.

            rawstory {dot}c0m/2016/07/nypd-cop-secretly-records-supervisor-pressuring-him-to-racially-profile-black-men/

          • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

That story allegedly took place in a city which is about 25% black, and yet over 60% of the homicides are committed by blacks. Has it occurred to you that maybe this particular officer has noticed most of the turnstile jumpers are young black men? Even granting the presence of racism and practice of racial profiling in some instances, you cannot blame the high rate of crime in the African-American community on the police. Granting that there are innocent people sent to prison (an inexcusable and shameful fact), you cannot claim that as the reason for the statistics that continually show that blacks as a group commit more crimes than any other ethnicity in America. BTW, do you really believe that cops in Paterson and NYC ignore carloads of white teenagers cruising through drug-infested neighborhoods? Clean-cut or otherwise, the cops know why they are there.

          • 1.) The majority of violent crime is committed by Blacks poor people of all ethnicities. Blacks — for many institutionally racist reasons — tend to dominate the poverty demographic. In primarily Southern parts of the U.S. where whites are the poverty-stricken demographic, those whites are not surprisingly also the biggest recipients of welfare and the biggest percentage of criminals.

2.) Since Blacks tend to be much, much poorer than the median, it doesn’t much matter that the police primarily patrol Black neighborhoods and set Blacks apart for targeted searches and harassment. They will “catch” a thousand jaywalkers and shoplifters in Black neighborhoods for every three or four white kids in white neighborhoods, simply because they’re spending their time watching Black-only neighborhoods. I recall being a teen in my local convenience store buying donuts after school. The shop owners would smile at me (blonde, blue-eyed, dressed for parochial school, fit, and polite) and act like I was a rockstar at the register… but if a Black or Hispanic walked in… the shop owners would swarm that kid — one on each end of the aisle, to make sure they weren’t shoplifting (I assumed). Hilariously, my [white] friends and I pantomimed pocketing all manner of snacks and marching out the front door, because the owners would STUPIDLY abandon the entire front of the store to angrily stare at some innocent dark kid. Seriously, we could have filled our backpacks without them seeing.

3.) As for white teens cruising through drug-infested ‘hoods, well, “drug-infested” sounds Black to me. Black ‘hoods is where cop cars park. Do they let some off with a lot more warnings than they do for non-white kids? Yup, without doubt. Have you watched this trash-TV program “Teen Mom”? The boys who buy drugs (and talk about it openly on the show) always say to buy from white guys, or buy from a Black guy who COMES TO your white neighborhood. They weren’t even afraid to talk about it on the show, they know they’ll only be arrested if they buy in Black neighborhoods. Some guys and girls had been arrested, and they bought their stuff in those good ol’ cop-infested Black neighborhoods.

          • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

So what? That still doesn’t explain why blacks make up 13% of the population and yet commit more robberies than any other ethnic group. You can’t explain away crime statistics by citing prejudice or poverty as the reason. The fact is, black Americans commit a number of serious crimes that is out of proportion to their demographic. BTW, has it occurred to you that the law-abiding residents of poor black neighborhoods like the fact that cop cars are parked on their streets? No one likes to be hassled by the police, but it’s better than being at the mercy of criminals.

          • If you’re white, clean-cut, well-mannered, or otherwise “invisible” to law enforcement, your free pass to commit “reasonable amount” of crime is written all over you.

“We must learn how to forgive one another, love one another and work with one another to heal this country.”

Unfortunately, when I saw many comments on Facebook about these incidents of police misconducts, many secular right wing conservatives are blaming BLM and the Obama administration that they want the “Law of the West” to be implemented. They don’t forgive like many Christian conservatives does and they don’t tolerate any liberals on any social issues. Why aren’t we, the brothers and sisters in Christ, not just stand up to the liberals, but also, stand up to secular right wing conservatives with such issues, arming with biblical scriptures to back up our arguments against them so that we can point them towards the LORD. I’m getting sick and tired of Christian conservatives (mainly from CBN news and The Trumpet Magazine) are just standing there quietly while secular conservatives just bashing everyone in sight, who are being labeled as “liberals”.

This is a war. This is all deception. In war, the belligerents often resemble one another. Thus, the leftists get emotional about blacks, muslims, and what not. The conservatives get all emotional about police officers and what not. In their POV, neither can do any wrong. Ever.

Don’t play their stupid game. As this is a fight, don’t take the advice of pacifists like Michael who say just sing kum-ba-ya and it will all be good. Before cell phones they could beat the crap out of people and get away with it. The beginning of the end was Rodney King and a video recorder. Technology has taken the fun out of the job

    • Wait, are you saying that if Americans ask cops to stop murdering innocent civilians, that cops are going to ALL LEAVE THE FORCE?

  • Weston

Police officers voluntarily choose lives of aggressive violence, forcing their will and that of their masters on others. Increasing use of force naturally evokes increasing resistance and retaliation. The cause of increasing violence against police is the increasing violence of police against others, directed by the increasingly tyrannical government which employs and directs them, and which is increasingly destroying rule of law, which holds everyone to the same standards. Government increasingly holds itself above its own laws, and police are increasingly allowed to assault and kill with impunity, and that very naturally is drawing an increasingly outraged and violent response.

The solution is simple: for government to stop using violence to force whatever it wants on others. leaving people alone to live as they choose to the extent that they do no harm others or their property. If government was limited to holding those who actually harm others accountable for their actions, we would not be seeing what’s going on today. Police would not be bothering someone, much less killing that person, because of a broken car tail light which had harmed no one.

    • Lazarovic

  • Lazarovic

Police violence is what needs to be addressed. We all watched those men murdered on camera. There was no justification. Those cops are murderers. When the citizenry views the police as just another armed gang of thugs, unaccountable to the law, then we will have open rebellion in the streets. Get the cops under control. No justice, no peace.

” I can’t imagine how anyone could possibly think that it would be a good idea to drop a concrete block on the head of a police officer. What in the world would cause someone to sink that low? ”
How about irrational racist hatred as a reason?

    • I’m going to start by saying that NO innocent police officer (nor any innocent civilian) should ever be hurt out of any malice…

But let me ask you this: if the country were such that things were switched up… and if instead of [bad] cops killing innocent civilians, what if it were terrible women roving the streets and killing men? Just imagine gangs of whatever women you might love to hate (feminists come to mind), and now imagine if they were murdering innocent men and boys, and they did not get put behind bars. They kept killing males, and they kept going scot-free. NOW imagine one lone fellow who got fed-the-fxck-up with these evil women killing innocent men with impunity.

This one lone fellow hears of a feminist parade featuring NONE of the women he knows to have murdered any men, he knows that all of the women are non-murderers. He decides to do like this other lone fellow, and to target them for execution for what OTHER women have done.

Would you label him as having “irrational sexist hatred”? I wouldn’t. He’d be misguided, and WRONG for spree-killing them, and as much as his hatred would be misguided, it wouldn’t be “irrational”. It would be SPOT ON. To see woman after woman murdering with impunity, getting paid leaves of absence, juries voting not to convict… most any man would be quite righteous in his anger. So too was this Army fellow righteous in his anger against the people who have been murdering with impunity, and getting paid vacations, all the while maintaining their title of “hero” in the public’s eye.

      • amongoose

Would you label him as having “irrational sexist hatred”?
No, I would label him a criminal and treat him accordingly.

This is not a “lone fellow”, look at social media, his sentiments are widespread.
As for your example, kinda a stretch, how about we use a real one? Crime statistics show blacks kill 81 percent of white homicide victims. Not to mention the knockout game or polar bear hunting. Would it be OK for whites to randomly kill blacks? Hell No.
Same as here, the actions were unjustifiable. If blacks have a problem with police how about take the problem to the source, the mostly liberal mayors and black police cheifs it is happening under, it’s their department.
And how about the black community doing what it can to reduce the crime in their neighborhoods so police would not have to spend over half their time in those neighborhoods?

A conversation on race relations is sorely needed, but it has to be a conversation, one where all sides are heard.
We are tired of the constant lecture where only whites are wrong.

much more at Dr. Roberts’ website for you Israel Firsters:

Police Murder Because They Are Trained To Murder — Paul Craig Roberts

“…First, we know that the police have been, or are being, militarized. They are armed with weapons of war that hitherto have been used only on battlefields. We don’t know why police are armed in this way, as such weapons are not necessary for policing the American public and are not used in police work anywhere except in Israeli-occupied Palestine.

…the militarization of the police fits in with what we know about police training.
There are sourced reports that US police are receiving training from Israel, both from traveling to Israel and in the US from Israeli training firms or from US firms using Israeli methods…
Israeli police practices arose from decades of occupying a hostile Palestinian population while stealing the Palestinians’ land and isolating the population in ghetto enclaves. Essentially, Israeli police practices consist of intimidation and violence…
On the basis of this information, we can infer that the Israeli training of US police teaches the police to see only police lives as valuable and the lives of the public as potential threats to police lives. This is why American police often murder a wrongly suspected person and almost always an unarmed one….”

  • Stefan

Michael, Look at what the police have created. And before I get started, I am not putting the ROOT blame on the police. First, there was a change in attitude between the public and police. Instead of Serve and Protect, it became Us against Them. Then, police departments became a money making arm of the municipality they belonged to. Then came the militarization of police, with all kinds of military equipment, and the only strings attached was, they had to start using it. Then came re-training in Israel. Now it’s shoot first, and ask questions later. Now it’s, if you see something you like or covet, make a stop and confiscate whatever, under asset forfeiture with no recourse for the innocent victim. Now it’s draw guns and fire without provocation. Now it’s knock down doors and destroy property even if it is an incorrect address with no repercussions.

So the Big Blue Machine is helping to escalate a bad situation of their own making!

Now, does that mean the public is as pure as the driven snow. No! Of course not, but, the police need to understand, they have been manipulated, just like the masses who are manipulated on the daily basis. The sheeple people are being driven also, with the flames of hatred being stoked from, television, and social media. These are some dark times we are living in. We are going to have to overcome it, belong to Jesus and let God through Jesus guide us. In other words, this is an individual tribulation that each of us must overcome. And we are expected to fellowship with those who are overcoming their tribulation as well as those who are still following dark spirits. Be a lamp post.

One final word, In the book of Jasher, we learn, God created the evil serpent in the Garden of Eden, to test Adam and Eve. It was always meant to happen the way it did. We are being tested. Does this testing match up with prophesy? I do not know. But I can say with certainty, we are being tested. So be a Lamp Post, and the more individual Lamp Posts we have out there, the sooner this darkness will go away. It’s not just Police, It’s everything, Political, Financial, Social, Morality, Military, you name it, even the Churches.

“When it comes to law enforcement in this country, we need a complete and total cultural shift.”

ABSOLUTELY. What can *we* as individuals do to get this much-needed cultural shift started???

“What would cause a person to do such a thing? Sadly, we don’t have to search far for an answer. We have taken God out of our[…]”

I rather thought that the retaliation(s) we are seeing falls mightily under the Eye for an Eye, Tooth for a Tooth tenet we have been taught our whole lives. It pains me to no end that INNOCENT — that is to say, unrelated — officers are being hurt, when we’d much rather see the evil, sick, guilty ones receiving retaliation rather than the fully-paid leave they’re getting now. But we can’t sit around and advocate for a Twilight Zone-esque end for the bad cops.

The Texas mass murders by the former Army guy were reprehensible. I’m ecstatic we were able to deploy a bomb robot on him rather than dredge up the specter of police misconduct upon Blacks via a long court case. But as long as violent, abusive cops are given a smack on the wrist for murdering people, we can’t expect the public’s patience to remain forever.

Does anyone remember the show “Adam 12”? I think it was on in the late 60’s or early 70’s. That was the “ideal” for police officers. Maybe if all new P.O.’s were required to watch 40 hours of that show per year, it would teach them how to “connect” with the public they are supposed to PROTECT AND SERVE.
