Obama Allows Great Lakes Water To Be Sold To China As Half The U.S. Faces Extreme Water Crisis

Drought Monitor December 2013What in the world is Barack Obama thinking?  At a time when the United States is facing the greatest water crisis that it has ever known, Obama is allowing water from the Great Lakes to be drained, bottled and shipped to China and other countries around the globe.  Right now, the Great Lakes hold approximately 21 percent of the total supply of fresh water in the entire world.  Considering the fact that global water supplies are becoming extremely tight, that is an invaluable resource.  One recent UN report projected that two-thirds of the people in the world will be dealing with “water stress” and 1.8 billion people will be facing “absolute water scarcity” by the year 2025.  So why are we allowing foreign corporations such as Nestle to make millions upon millions of dollars pumping water out of the Great Lakes and selling it overseas?  Considering the massive worldwide water crisis that we know is coming in the years ahead, shouldn’t we be doing everything that we can to protect this precious natural resource?

Most Americans don’t realize this, but earlier this year water levels in Lake Huron and Lake Michigan were at their lowest levels ever recorded.  The following is from a recent article by Suzanne Eovaldi

“Two of the Great Lakes have hit their lowest water levels EVER RECORDED,” the US Army Corps of Engineers reported early this year. Corps measurements taken in January of 2013 “show Lake Huron and Lake Michigan have reached their lowest ebb since record keeping began in 1918.”  The chief watershed hydrology expert warns Americans that “We’re in an extreme situation.”

So what is causing all of this?  Well, of course most of the water that leaves the Great Lakes is lost by evaporation.  But the fact that water is being steadily pumped out of the Great Lakes and sold overseas is certainly not helping matters

“Plunging water levels are beyond anyone’s control,” says another expert, James Weakley. But in one of our most popular posts, last year we warned, “Lake Michigan water is being shipped by boat loads over to China! By using a little known loophole in the 2006 Great Lakes Compact, Obama minions are allowing Nestle Company to export precious fresh water out of Lake Michigan to the tune of an estimated $500,000 to $1.8 million per day profit.”

For even more on this, please check out the episode of “Conspiracy Theory” with Jesse Ventura that I have posted below…

All of this is happening at a time when the U.S. is getting ready to deal with the greatest water crisis this nation has ever known.

For example, according to a Reuters article from just a few weeks ago, the state of California is currently experiencing the driest year ever recorded

To nurture his acres of pistachio trees, Tom Coleman has long relied on water from California’s mountain-ringed reservoirs, fed by Sierra streams and water pumped from the massive Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

But the driest year on record has left the reservoirs so depleted – and the delta so fragile – that state water officials say they may be able to provide just 5 percent of the water he and others were expecting for next year.

This water shortage is causing massive problems all over the state.  Just check out how a recent Fresno Bee article described what is happening to Pine Flat Reservoir…

Pine Flat Reservoir is a ghost of a lake in the Fresno County foothills — a puddle in a 326 billion-gallon gorge.

Holding only 16% of its capacity, Pine Flat is the best example of why there is high anxiety over the approaching wet season.

Gone is the healthy water storage that floated California through two dry years. Major reservoirs around the state need gully-washing storms this winter.

And further east, similar things are happening.  Lake Powell is fed by the once mighty Colorado River, and at this point the flow of water into the lake has been reduced to a “trickle”

After 14 years of drought, Lake Powell is less than half full.

Water flows into Lake Powell, nestled between Utah and Arizona, from high in the Rocky Mountains via the Colorado River. More than 30 million people in seven states depend on the mighty Colorado for water to grow crops, fuel power plants and keep cities such as Las Vegas alive. But this year, the worst drought in a century has slowed the flow to a trickle.

In August, the federal Bureau of Reclamation cut, by 9 percent, the amount of water people in the southwestern United States could draw from Lake Powell. As states and counties squabble over their allotment of water in the coming years, hydroelectric plants (including the one on the Hoover Dam) could idle, and farmers are bracing for reduced crop production.

And most Americans do not realize this, but the Colorado River does not run all the way to the ocean any longer.  If something is not done soon, even the Hoover Dam could be forced to shut down.  For much more on this, please see this article.

Just recently, the Huffington Post ran an article entitled “These 11 Cities May Completely Run Out Of Water Sooner Than You Think“.  According to that piece, some of the cities that are heading for a massive water crisis are not cities that you would normally think of…

-Salt Lake City, Utah
-Lincoln, Nebraska
-Cleveland, Ohio
-Miami, Florida
-Atlanta, Georgia
-Washington, D.C.
-El Paso, Texas
-San Antonio, Texas
-San Francisco Bay Area, California
-Houston, Texas
-Los Angeles, California

But those cities are far from alone.  The truth is that pretty much the entire western half of the country is drying up.  the following list of 15 facts about the coming water crisis is from one of my previous articles entitled “Dust Bowl Conditions Are Literally Returning To The Western Half Of The United States“…

1. The Ogallala Aquifer is being drained at a rate of approximately 800 gallons per minute.

2. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, “a volume equivalent to two-thirds of the water in Lake Erie” has been permanently drained from the Ogallala Aquifer since 1940.

3. Decades ago, the Ogallala Aquifer had an average depth of approximately 240 feet but today the average depth is just 80 feet. In some areas of Texas, the water is gone completely.

4. Scientists are warning that nothing can be done to stop the depletion of the Ogallala Aquifer. The ominous words of David Brauer of the Ogallala Research Service should alarm us all…

“Our goal now is to engineer a soft landing. That’s all we can do.”

5. According to a recent National Geographic article, the average depletion rate of the Ogallala Aquifer is picking up speed…

Even more worrisome, the draining of the High Plains water account has picked up speed. The average annual depletion rate between 2000 and 2007 was more than twice that during the previous fifty years. The depletion is most severe in the southern portion of the aquifer, especially in Texas, where the water table beneath sizeable areas has dropped 100-150 feet; in smaller pockets, it has dropped more than 150 feet.

6. According to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the U.S. interior west is now the driest that it has been in 500 years.

7. Wildfires have burned millions of acres of vegetation in the central part of the United States in recent years. For example, wildfires burned an astounding 3.6 million acres in the state of Texas alone during 2011. This helps set the stage for huge dust storms in the future.

8. Unfortunately, scientists tell us that it would be normal for extremely dry conditions to persist in parts of western North America for decades. The following is from an article in the Vancouver Sun

But University of Regina paleoclimatologist Jeannine-Marie St. Jacques says that decade-long drought is nowhere near as bad as it can get.

St. Jacques and her colleagues have been studying tree ring data and, at the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference in Vancouver over the weekend, she explained the reality of droughts.

“What we’re seeing in the climate records is these megadroughts, and they don’t last a decade—they last 20 years, 30 years, maybe 60 years, and they’ll be semi-continental in expanse,” she told the Regina Leader-Post by phone from Vancouver.

“So it’s like what we saw in the Dirty Thirties, but imagine the Dirty Thirties going on for 30 years. That’s what scares those of us who are in the community studying this data pool.”

9. Experts tell us that U.S. water bills are likely to soar in the coming years. It is being projected that repairing and expanding our decaying drinking water infrastructure will cost more than one trillion dollars over the next 25 years, and as a result our water bills will likely approximately triple over that time period.

10. Right now, the United States uses approximately 148 trillion gallons of fresh water a year, and there is no way that is sustainable in the long run.

11. According to a U.S. government report, 36 states are already facing water shortages or will be facing water shortages within the next few years.

12. Lake Mead supplies about 85 percent of the water to Las Vegas, and since 1998 the level of water in Lake Mead has dropped by about 5.6 trillion gallons.

13. It has been estimated that the state of California only has a 20 year supply of fresh water left.

14. It has been estimated that the state of New Mexico only has a 10 year supply of fresh water left.

15. Approximately 40 percent of all rivers in the United States and approximately 46 percent of all lakes in the United States have become so polluted that they are are no longer fit for human use.

Are you starting to get the picture?

If things don’t turn around soon, we are going to be facing an absolutely crippling water crisis in this country.

And according to recent forecasts, it appears that drought conditions may soon get even worse in the Southeast and the Southwest…

Ongoing winter storms won’t be doing much to relieve some drought-stricken areas of the U.S. In fact, conditions could get worse in the Southwest and Southeast, according to the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration.

NOAA last week forecast below-average precipitation for those regions this winter, meaning that “after some relief during the past few months,” the Southwest’s three-year drought is likely to redevelop and spread to the Southeast.

Sadly, most Americans are not aware of any of these things.

They just assume that there will always be plenty of fresh water for all of us to use just like there always has been.

But times are changing rapidly.

Please share this article with as many people as you can.

Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink!
I speak of the huge amount of undrinkable water in the Pacific Ocean.
What has to happen is we have to distill that water and move it to fresh water. That means solar furnaces. We have to create enough heat to boil the ocean water off into steam then channel the steam to where we need it in pipes. When the water cools it becomes liquid. When it becomes liquid we channel it into the lakes and refill them.
Get the U.S. Army Engineers busy on this right now.
But that would take initiative and inventiveness and a whole slew of people with thinking outside the box.
That is what Patterson and Kettering and a number of other people early on in this country did. Dayton has seven different dams because of those folks. We have a river running 400 feet below Dayton. It feeds water to us and it is good. But Dayton has a lot of churches. All of which are full most Sundays and a lot of Wednesdays or Thursdays. I cannot speak for everyone on that. But God is good. Maybe if they spent a little more time in church instead of where they are at, they might get ideas to save this country.

    I suggest they get busy.
The engineering necessary is not easy but I think it is something that can be done.
I suggested solar power only because it is the easiest to set up. We have a vast volcanic field in the west we could be using for power as well. If Iceland can do it so can we. There are literally billions of gallons of salt water available right next door in the Pacific. It simply has to be pumped in and distilled.

Your plan is quite possible. However since we now turn everything over to private companies. And it seems, they all like to make obscene levels of profit. Are you sure anyone would be able to afford that water?

      • Linda

Why can’t “We the People”, start our own company, if everyone chipped in $1 a piece we could start our own and not run by the government. I’m not saying this is the exact way, but something to this affect.

  • K

Remember the first rule of the current U.S. policy. Nothing may interfere with profits. Also if you really want to control a population, what better way than water? Try finding the space, or the money, to let you store a years worth of water. Most will not believe this story, because their idea of a drought, is you can not water your grass. Remember in some states it is already illegal to collect rain water.

California has over 1100 golf courses open for business

Hmm, I recall Gerald Celente saying that a future trend that he sees developing are resources Nations fighting over diminishing resources like clean food and water.
This also shows the poor state China is in that due to its industrial expansion, it has mismanaged and polluted its land and vital resources to feed its own people.
Under this scenario it’s not hard to see Nations going to War over vital resources like clean water. What I don’t understand is how the US has not invested in desalinization technology to provide clean water to the US? I guess Fukushima threw a monkey wrench in those plans.

    • Captain Ron

“What I don’t understand is how the US has not invested in desalinization technology to provide clean water to the US?”
But you do understand… they have the technology… just not for the “people”… same with Solar and Tesla technology… it’s there… always has been… just not for you and me.

      • Mike TheVet

Several patents at the USPTO for what you speak of. All we have to do is “Declassify” them.

        • Colin

          “desalinization technology”

This technology, like any other technology, has issues. The notable issues are that it adds harmful products to the atmosphere that may make the situation worse for a drought region and that, during filtering, animal life may be harmed or killed. I don’t know if cost is an issue.

          • Mike TheVet

That’s not what I was talking about, Colin. Sorry to confuse you.

          • Linda

That’s a shame, but what else is there to do Colin?

      • Linda

You are so right, only the elite get to use the advanced technology. Try telling that to your friends and they think you are nuts. I try and they look at me like I’m from another world, so I don’t bother any more.

        • NoChip4Me

Same here……….most people chose the blue pill.

        • sjser

You got that right. Most of our friends & relatives will only discuss this as daily gossip and then move on to talking about “dancing with the stars” or the latest sales at target. Now we simply use the information for ourselves and leave it there. If someone asks we give them a few references or websites – we no longer disseminate or spread the word. You can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. Problem is when the s**t hits the fan they’ll all be standing in my driveway

  • sherlock32555

This has been going on for a long time. Can’t remember were I read it at. This is what we get for believing what criminals say. YOU KNOW THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE AND THE PEOPLE KEEP BELIEVING THEM! How stupid can you be?What will it take to wake up and see it. I can tell when the stupid will wake up and that is when the government is at your door to round you up and toss you rear end in a re-education camp to train you to think like they want you to. People are being train to think in a certain way now threw our schools and colleges. We have NO future unless the people wake up and start thinking for the American people because no one will take care of you but you!

    • NoChip4Me

Forget the re-education camps……………try death camps like under Hitler. Most people can’t handle the truth so they ignore what’s coming down the road at us.

      • sherlock32555

I know that is one of the pleasures awaiting the American people! But what can you do, nothing but wait for them to put those of us that are awake in the camps! May god have mercy on us because this will end in the biggest blood bath that this nation has ever seen. My opinion it will make all the past wars look like a walk in the park. Take care

        • Linda

No, you can prepare. Have food and water ready. A place to go with other people. Guns, or weapon of choice. Or a crossbow.

The real Satanists are the ones you don’t see: Soros, Rockefellers, Rothschilds. They are high as a kite, with their maniac-like genocidal intentions of wanting to make us all debt-slaves whilst they own everything. In days of past, this problem was easily solved by an uprising, a stout oak tree, and some rope.

    • Kim G

Please name one or two satanists in government, and provide strong evidence to support the statements that: a) such people are really satanists; and b) that they are supported by a non-trivial number of Americans.

Sometimes I have to wonder what all you so called christains are smokeing. I have nothing wrong with anyones beliefs, hell you could worship a goat, I wouldn’t care. Every time I see crap like this, makes me think of the Taliban. Christains and muslims really are not much different. Both believe you either worship like them or you don’t deserve to live. Muslim stone people in the street. Christains used to burn people to poles for witchcraft. All I gotta say is keep your insanity to yourself.

The United States has been using a desalinization process at Guantanamo Bay for many decades. Castro cut off their fresh water supply over 50 years ago in order to get the Americans to leave Cuba. Also, I don’t know much about science, and I understand the increase in drought stricken areas, not just in America but around the globe, but what about the water cycle itself? Won’t rain and snow continue to replenish the great lakes? Sorry if I sound ignorant, somebody out there has a good answer – I’m sure of it. What I’m wondering is, are we worried about things that are just cyclical and have been for thousands of years?

    • Linda

Nestle at one point wanted to stop giving water to people, and wanted to sell it to us here in the US. Our own water. That is how evil they are.

  • Seen2013

The Great Lakes are also subject to Continental Rebound. This means since the absence of the ice glacier pushing the continent downward enables the continent to rebound to its position prior to the formation of the glacier. The fact the Great Lakes exists at all is a direct result of the glacier contracting and retracting over time. Effectively, if it wasn’t for a few rivers flowing into them, it’d be well on its way to drying up. It is not a self-sustaining system, so it should not be subject to foreign trade.

    • Seen2013

I should add that it is debated but believed; the river systems emptying into the Great Lakes prior to the glacier held a different path; therefore, the Great Lakes only exists until the Continental Rebound corrects itself or adjusts similar to Isostatic Adjustment.

Nestle needs the profits so the water from the Great Lakes goes to China where they maximize the profit for big corporate bonuses.

When John Engler was governor of Michigan in 2001, he made an agreement with bottle water giant Nestle, allowing them to open a plant in Mecosta County. They have then pumped more than a 1/2 million gallons of water a day drying up streams and ponds that feed the Great Lakes.

DEUTERONOMY 28: 15-68 Read also 2 Timothy chapter 3 God is allowing these things to happen because we are forsaking him across our country by our laws, government, the way we live etc. I can’t say for sure if this is some of God’s judgement, but he sure is trying to YELL OUT!! JESUS IS COMING VERY SOON!!! are you ready? do you know God? do you believe in God? He LOVES YOU!!! so much that he sent his Son to die on the cross for YOU!!! what here in the temporal life are you hanging on 2 that it will cost you eternity with him? Jesus said in John 3 Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of heaven. For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, and the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Repent!! of your sins, by asking Jesus to come into your heart and be washed in the blood of the Lamb. For He made him who knew no sin to be sin for us that through HIM we may become the righteousness of God. But now In Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ..his BLOOD washes AWAY ALL SIN! how do you do this Paul wrote in Romans that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in yoru heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. If anyone be in Christ he is a new creation, old things have passed Behold ALL things have become new! For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

Bryan is right. I’m not religious at all but I can tell you that there is a supreme being up there above me. I don’t know his name, don’t know what he looks like and don’t care. The land was for the people along with nature ‘to take care of.’ We haven’t been doing such a good job…have we. Also, since churches are corporations, most have been worshiping the corp. God. No the true supreme being. You have taken on a ‘pagan’ god. We turned our back on OUR real maker. If you don’t get it.. then I guess… and I’m not going to name names.

Agreed, you are so right.. And the ‘religions’ today are very PAGAN… and especially the Roman Church-proclaiming their pope–is vicar of Christ–or Christ himself–so wrong…many things wrong with this church.. and the Leaders of today=are Satanist, and their IDOLS and celebrities Forcing their Witchcraft Crap on Olympic and Football halftimes… crazy times we live in.

          • slfheinn

As a Germanic Pagan myself, I have to say you have no clue what you are talking about. Witchcraft (Wicca) is not Pagan and did not even exist in Ancient Europe, it is new age and was made recently and most of us Reconstructionist Pagans don’t get along with Wiccans either.
P.S- Even if the Olympics was doing “pagan things” the event was made by Pagans thousands of years ago, also Democracy was made by Pagans. You think the Greeks were Fundamentalist Christians? They were Hellenismos (Greek Pagans)

Great Lakes water is only the beginning. The U.S. government has debts – to China and others – that it cannot even begin to pay. When the charade that is the U.S. dollar finally collapses, the government will have nothing else with which to bargain save the labor of American people themselves – and the land and natural resources of this nation. The selling of water from the Great Lakes is only the beginning. It won’t be long now; the vultures are circling and the Great Sell-Off has begin….

  • Cathryn

So, a policy decision made in 2006, under Bush and the Republicans, is now Obama’s fault?
Maybe you should try doing a better job at hiding and masking your agenda.

    • Don H

Concern for protecting the Great Lakes Basin resulted in the 2006 Great Lakes Compact which was signed by President Bush in October 2008.

A loophole in the 2006 Great Lakes Compact allows the water to be called a product and sold off outside the basin.

.The fault is all the politicians that originally seemed to bow down to pressure from Nestle and other big concerns first for passing a law with such a blatant
” loophole” in it but also not immediately putting a fix to this problem, all are guilty including Obama and all the other lifelong politician’s that are there now for not correcting this ” loophole”. Guess Nestle is too big a company to mess with so they are allowed to do whatever they want and have the politicians needed in their back pocket to do what they want.

It’s no coincidence that the drought map coincides with the UN Biodiversity Map, everything is going as planned.

A lot depends on what you believe. Science says one thing. Religion says another. I think science is full of it. They cannot say from day to day what is the real truth because it changes with the data that they accumulate. Science only has one thing going for it. If they are truly following the science then it means that the truth can take you anywhere. I suggest it is manipulated by money and isn’t truth at all but what the people with the money want to hear.
The Bible is based on a belief system that says that God can do anything, any time, any where. That includes what we once referred to as MAGIC.
Do curses exist? The Deuteronomy 28: 15-68 appears to say it does.
    More important do blessings exist . . . ?
There is the natural. In the natural you have physical rules by which everything operates. If you step off a ledge you will fall. That rules just about everything. I don’t care who you are, if you are an ordinary human being then the natural rules apply to everything. We ALL die somewhere between birth and 126 years. The Bible says 120 but several have lived
Then you have the God Principal. Jesus Christ is part of this nature. DId all the things that Jesus did in scripture occur? These apparently went against natural law.
We have cures that shouldn’t have happened by natural law. Even death was not something that could not be over ruled as witnessed by a man Lazarus having been brought back from a corpse. All of which should not be possible under natural law.
Then you have Jesus himself. He was killed! His corpse was placed in a cave. He was dead . . .
If someone came back today from the dead after rigor mortis set in and the body was obviously completely dead then something unnatural has occurred.
The curses and the blessings are unnatural from the standpoint of most human beings.
If the Bible is correct and I think it is, then something very unnatural is occurring here. Except that I have to believe that the creator of it all makes the rules and breaks the rules any time it is convenient for said creator to do so.
God made a contract with the Jews. If they followed his rules and what he told them to do, he would shower prosperity and blessings upon them.
If they disobeyed the rules then he placed a curse upon them. That is basically what happened.
Are we the modern Rome or the modern Israel? Some people think so. If we are under the contract of God then we are in a whole lot of trouble with the actions of the current government. Because natural law does not apply to us in this case.
The natural law is what God says it is. And nothing in all the rules of science can make that any different.
So if this something that cannot be changed then it is fated. Nothing we say or do will change it. I know this from personal experience.
But if three true Christians get together and pray . . .
That is one of the keys to changing natural law. The challenge is knowing the difference between what can and cannot be changed.
Jesus died on a cross. That could not be changed.
Jesus cured many people by what was apparently magic.
What can and cannot be changed? That is the real question.
I say if we follow the contract laid down by God in the ten commandments and the dietary laws of the Bible, that is following a natural law and a contract from God.
We have FREEDOM of religion. We also have FREEDOM to believe or not to believe and to follow God. As for me and my house, I choose to believe that God at his option can change anything in my life he so chooses to do so.
I believe Jesus genetic origin of being half human/half god. I believe he has access to the Creator. Therefore, if he chooses, then all kinds of unnatural events can become natural and be done. But the only operating God here is the Jewish God of the Bible. Jesus is subordinate to God. But through him, we can ask for miracles and at his choice those miracles may occur.
So unless this is something that cannot be changed, then our prayers to a LIVING GOD through Jesus Christ can change everything.
For that reason, I believe our leaders need to get down on their knees and ask for the answers we need to continue this nation to be blessed and prosperous.
For over 200 years, our leaders have done this. Through thick and thin we have been both blessed and cursed by our own actions.
To me, we need to put God first and everything else second. And that will reverse what cursed people are doing right now.

LOL, Folks think this situation is bad, how about adding to it the fallout from contamination of existing water resources, be they ground water or rivers and streams after the FRACKING industry has done it’s share of contaminating all such water sources ? How about the Coast Guard’s no brainer of transporting fracking waste water via barge down rivers, one spill and you can write off the whole river for ever.
And this is all OK with Americans and their Government ?

  • MattyB

Wait. Where’s the documentation that shows the water is being sold. This states that it’s happening, but doesn’t give any reference material to support this. It’d be nice if that was included. Are we expected to take their word on this? That’s not good enough for critical thinkers. And I’m sorry, but jesse Ventura isn’t what I’d call a reference.

  • Bangortenor

This article is so stupid I thought it was a parody. But then I read the comments below and realized it was just another scare article to terrify the rubes.

  • Linda

#1, we can take salt water and make it into fresh drinking water. So as the seas rise we can drink it. This does not take away from what Obama is doing to this country, destroying it at every chance he can. How much of this money is going in his pocket? Why is a foreign country allowed to sell it to China? Why not our country? Because no one should be selling our water to anyone and he knows it, the snake in the grass. He wants to steal as much money from this country as he can before he leaves office. I wonder how many off shore accounts he has?

  • facts or not

uummm…. maybe check your “facts” Obama had nothing to do with this other than voting for the compact, when he was a senator! Thank your idiot GW, the senate and congress for signing it into play!

    • Linda

You don’t think Clinton had anything to do with this, but how about NAFTA? The worse thing that has every happened to this country, that is why China owns us.

  • stuble

Stealing our Canadian resources as well. Rob, rape and plunder.

  • kal98

China owes the usa money but those debts seem to be swept under the rug usa citizens need to stand up for their rights and do something but the docile lets wait to see is expected while over 300k anchor babies are born a year, and millions immigrate yearly to keep the chaos going!

  • Randy Burbach

Just how stupid are you people? #1 no such thing has happened, #2 China has a huge water supply of its own, and new irrigation courtesy of Three Gorges Dam #3 shipping water from the Great Lakes to China in anything like significant amounts is extremely cost-prohibitive – far cheaper to build massive desalinization facilities and #4 no such thing CAN happen without the consent of a) Congress b) Canada c) the governments of the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York d) the governments of the provinces Ontario and Quebec. If you have seen how nearly impossible it is to get even SMALL diversions approved, you would know how absurd this story is.

    • JohnT

Are you calling yourself stupid Randy? I’m sorry you feel that way. Help is available.
However to answer your statements above…
In short – China is purchasing Great Lakes water regardless of what “should be”.
See NoChip4Me’s comments above… short and to the point.

      • Randy Burbach

#1 – links to cut-n-paste editorials prove nothing
#2 – yes, Nestle bottles water in Michigan
#3 – yes, Nestle sells water in China
#4 – there is ZERO evidence that the water bottled in Michigan gets to China. Nestle sells three brands in China – Waterman, purified local tap water, YuNan Spring, from the Yunnan Mountains and Pure Life, which is NOT exported from Michigan
#5 – Even if it was being sold to China, it has nothing to do with the Obama administration
#6 – a FAR bigger threat to the Great Lakes is the Chicago shipping canal

        • stephenverchinski

Nice to see logic. Thanks Randy. I saw the same “A makes it to Z with nothing in between”

  • ColonelWarden

The drought in the USA is a serious issue. It’s a shame we can’t have a serious conversation about it.

  • Ollie Smith

Obama is the ENEMY! ARM UP AMERICA!

  • Grace Carralero Barella

This is not new news. Pepsico, Coca-Cola, Avita and Nestle have been operating in Michigan and surrounding states for over 10 years. At least now Nestle and other companies are operating under the Great Lakes St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact enacted by the 110th United States Congress effective December 8, 2008 before Obama took office. This Public Law 110-342 was introduced in the Senate by Carl Levin (D – Michigan) on July 23, 2008 passed the Senate on August 1, 2008 by unanimous consent, passed the House of Representatives on September 23, 2008 and finally signed into law by President George W. Bush on October 3, 2008.

    • Linda

That was back then, so why is Obama letting Nestle sell our American water to China?

  • Virginia

Please get your facts straight! BUSH GAVE AWAY THE GREAT LAKES WATER http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2013/dec/17/blog-posting/viral-blog-posts-say-obama-minions-are-allowing-co/ before Obama was ever elected president.

Bush has also allowed various other fresh water aquifers to be “tapped” & sent even to France. Jenna Bush went with the UN on a supposed “help trip” representing UNICEF to help the Bush family steal {buy} one of the largest fresh water aquifers in the world, running thru 4 countries http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022473474 {and surprise surprise, they recently found oil there as well!} Did you know that Bush owns almost all of the roadway from the US to the NAFTA factories in Mexico and YOU {the TAXPAYER} are paying to pave it?

ALEC is helping the repub congressmen privatize all water in America along with the privatized prisons and priv deportation centers. Deportation centers are REQUIRED TO PAY FOR 34,000 BEDS WITH OR WITHOUT A BODY IN THEM EVERY DAY! {and also required to hold all illegals for 3 months minimum at $129 to $159 per day per person!} Thanks again to the republican party.

The people in the privatized centers are also being abused as forced labor camps, thanks again to the repubs and Nike, and HP, AND they also make all military items while the repubs give billions in no bid contracts to 2 companies to make those items. {the prisoners make about 80 cents an hr & illegals about $1 a day! {pretty sweet deals if you ask me, TAXPAYERS ARE PAYING EVERYONE TO MAKE THIS STUFF & ALEC is KEEPING PEOPLE in privatized prisons for A YEAR FOR JAYWALKING!

  • Linda

This is true, but don’t you think it is time for this to stop?

    • Donnertparty

Heck, no, don’t stop selling bottled water to those fools in China. Compare the cost of 16 oz water in a plastic bottle to the same amount from the tap. We need to do all we can to balance our trade with China. The amount of water involved is miniscule.

  • Don H

Concern for protecting the Great Lakes Basin resulted in the 2006 Great Lakes Compact which was signed by President Bush in October 2008.

A loophole in the 2006 Great Lakes Compact allows the water to be called a product and sold off outside the basin

. To put blame where it belongs, Bush and all the politician’s that rushed this law through are at fault for allowing this loophole to exist and not quickly closing that gap including Obama and all the lifelong politicians that are in there now for not stopping it. Guess some businesses are to big to mess with.

  • Kevin Cannon

don’t blame Barry O; the Nestle contracts go back to the early 1980’s (Heeeere’s Ronny!), and they’ve got their straws into the Sierras in California, hardest hit in the drought….unlimited water for $500 a year, and they don’t even ay THAT! Time to end this madness.

  • m breisch

We know about the droughts. Where is the information backing the claims that Great Lakes’ water is being sold?

  • Robert Rowley

“A hundred billion gallons of water per year is being exported in the form of alfalfa from California,” argues Professor Robert Glennon from Arizona College of Law.

“It’s a huge amount. It’s enough for a year’s supply for a million families – it’s a lot of water, particularly when you’re looking at the dreadful drought throughout the south-west.”

Hay USA Inc. is a Texas Corporation and in 2008 Hay USA Inc. Weatherford Texas with our Logo was Trade Marked and Registered.
These are the companies most responsible for water being shipped to China. The politicians that support this endeavor are republicans.
The only thing they do import from us, which needs to be stopped, is water. China is the biggest consumer of Nestle, which sells several brands of bottled water and the plant is based in northern Michigan. When John Engler was governor of Michigan in 2001, he made an agreement with bottle water giant Nestle, allowing them to open a plant in Mecosta County. They have then pumped more than a 1/2 million gallons of water a day drying up streams and ponds that feed the Great Lakes.

John Mathias Engler (born October 12, 1948) is an American politician and member of the Republican Party who served as the 46th Governor of Michigan from 1991 to 2003.

Joe M. Weller, then Chair & CEO of Nestlé USA, was a Bush Pioneer having raised at least $100,000 for Bush in the 2004 presidential election.

With all of the problems our western states currently have with drought conditions guess where our fresh water is going and what companies are responsible for it?

  • Ben Dover

I am constantly amazed by you people who just can’t wait for the end of the world as we know it! You seem to be living, waiting impatiently and anticipating far too anxiously for the death of millions of people. Is it mass paranoia? Mass hysteria? Are you watching too much Fox News??? Aren’t you tired of the “fear and unbalanced” news yet?
Every generation (every single one) since Christ died on the cross has been certain that Armageddon was upon us and that Jesus was about to burst through the clouds… tomorrow, or for sure within their lifetime. Sounds like an ego problem to me. And furthermore, the Bible quotes God as saying, “No man shall know the time and the place… He will come like a thief in the night.” The Bible also says to worry is useless, it does nothing to help, so, all you “death wishers” (Christian and radical Muslim) need to quit wasting your time and getting everyone upset and focus on positive and worthy causes.
If you need proof, just look back over the years and decades and see how many modern day purported prognosticators and profits were wrong.

PS: I have 2 tickets for the new ark if anyone is interested. Investment: $2,500 for 1, or $6,000 for 2. Holla back! ;)

  • Concerned

It’s all a part of agenda 21. They are purposely draining our water resources. Population control. If we have no water, we die faster and without destroying a lot of the environment. They have purposely drained numerous lakes and rivers the last two years.

  • Michael Waltman

You all are missing a great bunch of points in that these debts are to fiat currencies basically Obama gives up hard assets like Food, Real Estate, Land, Water, For what Paper that’s worthless? thats fake? We the people are being duped by a traders among us and a bunch of treasonist thieves, leaders, president, congress, senators, bankers, CIA etc. our justice department’s better get to work before they get charged along with them.

  • parrath

Lol nice try but you can’t blame Obama for this
this was done by the states in mid 2000’s and signed by Bush. Since this is a compact between the the states the federal gov’t has very little it can do. True Obama was a senator but all the heavy lifting was done way before. So pick one and suck it
