If You Want To Know The Truth About The Unemployment Rate Read This Article

Lie Truth - Public DomainThe Obama administration is telling us that the unemployment rate in the United States has fallen to 5.1 percent, but does that number actually bear any resemblance to reality?  On Friday, news outlets all over America celebrated the fact that the U.S. economy added 173,000 jobs in August.  We were told that the unemployment rate has fallen to a seven year low and that wages are going up.  So everything must be getting better for the middle class, right?  After all, isn’t that what the official numbers are telling us?

The financial markets are buzzing over this news because the unemployment rate has fallen into a range that the Federal Reserve has typically considered to be “full employment”, so there is an expectation that the Fed may raise interest rates shortly.  The following comes from Business Insider

The unemployment rate fell to 5.1% in August, the lowest since April 2008. This was lower than forecast, and put the measure in the middle of the 5.2% – 5.0% range the Federal Reserve considers to be “full employment.” The economy added 173,000 jobs, below the expectation for 217,000, although August payrolls are usually revised higher. We also saw some wage growth, with average hourly earnings rising 0.3% month-on-month, and 2.5% year-over-year. The payrolls gain for July was revised up to 245,000 from 215,000.

But do we actually have anything close to “full employment” in this country?

Of course not.

The truth is that the only way they have been able to get the official “unemployment rate” to steadily go down over the past few years is to eliminate hundreds of thousands of Americans that are chronically unemployed from the official labor force numbers every month.  Jim Quinn elaborated on this very eloquently in one of his recent articles

Now for the plunge in the unemployment rate. That comes from the household survey. The fact is that 220,000 more Americans entered the work force in August. According to this survey, 196,000 more Americans were employed. In the real world this would result in the unemployment rate going UP. Not in the Bizarro world of the BLS. They expect the peasants to believe that 261,000 Americans, of their own free will, voluntarily left the workforce in August because they don’t need a job to pay the bills, feed themselves, and keep a roof over their heads. The idiocy of this ridiculous assumption is breathtaking to behold. Only an Ivy League educated economist, CNBC shill, or complete and utter moron could believe this drivel.

At this point, the percentage of Americans that are actually considered to be “participating in the labor force” is the lowest that it has been since 1977.

According to the Obama administration, more than 94 million working age Americans are “not in the labor force”, and so they don’t count as being unemployed…

A record 94,031,000 Americans were not in the American labor force last month — 261,000 more than July — and the labor force participation rate stayed stuck at 62.6 percent, a 38-year low, for a third straight month in August, the Labor Department reported on Friday, as the nation heads into the Labor Day weekend.

Personally, I believe that the civilian employment-population ratio provides a much more accurate picture of the employment situation in this country.  It is a measure of the percentage of the working age population that actually has a job.

As you can see from the chart below, the percentage of working age Americans that are actually working has barely risen from the depths of the last recession…

Employment Population Ratio August 2015

Does that look like an “employment recovery” to you?

It sure doesn’t to me.

According to John Williams of shadowstats.com, if honest numbers were being used we would actually have an unemployment rate of 22.9 percent in this country.

But if the mainstream media reported that number, everyone would be talking about a “Great Depression” and we would all be complaining about what a horrible job Obama was doing.

Sadly, the cold, hard truth is that the U.S. economy has been collapsing for a very long time.  According to CBS News, the number of “ultrapoor” Americans that live on less than 2 dollars a day has doubled since 1996…

By one dismal measure, America is joining the likes of Third World countries.

The number of U.S. residents who are struggling to survive on just $2 a day has more than doubled since 1996, placing 1.5 million households and 3 million children in this desperate economic situation. That’s according to “$2.00 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America,” a book from publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt that will be released on Sept. 1.

The measure of poverty isn’t arbitrary — it’s the threshold the World Bank uses to measure global poverty in the developed world. While it may be the norm to see families in developing countries such as Bangladesh and Ethiopia struggle to survive on such meager income, the growing ranks of America’s ultrapoor may be shocking, given that the U.S. is considered one of the most developed capitalist countries in the world.

How can that be possible if we are close to “full employment”?

In a recent article on the Economic Collapse Blog, I explained that 46 million Americans used food banks in one recent year, and that lines start forming at some U.S. food banks as early as 6:30 in the morning because people want to get something before the food supplies run out.

No, economic conditions are definitely not “good” in this nation.

We are being told lies by our politicians and by the mainstream media.  The numbers simply do not match what is going on in the real world.

We can even see this in some of the wealthiest areas of the entire country.  In New York City, for example, they are dealing with an explosion in the number of people that are sleeping on the streets

They are sleeping in front of the Empire State building, sprawled in front of the doors of Macy’s, and panhandling outside Grand Central.

New York is in the grip of a homeless epidemic so bad that it has raised fears of the city slipping back into the disorder of the 1970s and 1980s.

The city’s police chief this week said that as many as 4,000 people are now sleeping rough in the city, in a crisis which even the city’s ultra-liberal mayor has finally acknowledged after months of denials.

Police officers have identified 80 separate homeless encampments in the city, 20 of which are so entrenched that they have their own furniture, while its former mayor Rudolph Giuliani has spoken scathingly of how his successor is failing to keep order.

Robert Kiyosaki, the best-selling author of “Rich Dad, Poor Dad“, recently told Newsmax that the “global economy is in a collapse right now”.  And he is right.  Things are getting worse in Asia, in Europe and in South America.

Things are also getting worse for the U.S. economy.  The “employment recovery” that we have already seen is all the employment recovery that we are going to get.

From here on out, millions upon millions of American workers are going to be losing their jobs and the suffering in this country is going to be off the charts.

So don’t fall for the lies that Obama and his minions are telling you.

All you have to do to see the truth is to open up your eyes and look at what is happening all around us.

  • Kim

The homeless situation has taken over several parks, three square city blocks and derelict buildings in downtown Portland. An area known as the “park blocks” near the downtown campus of Portland State Univerity is nothing but homeless for block after block after block.

    • jaxon64

All across the Washington DC area-almost every ramp on and off the Beltway- you see pregnant Hispanic women begging. This has become a very prosperous “job” as a recent investigative report showed some of them netting $500+ per week of tax free money. When you add in husbands/boyfriends working cash day labour and tens of thousands in annual entitlement/welfare programs, then many of these “poor Hispanics” are living quite large.
PS: our govt has specific websites -all in Spanish–to teach illegals how to apply for all assistances, food, housing, free medical etc….

      • flier100

I visit Portland, Oregon often and there are “homeless” people begging on every on and off ramp in the city.
You can’t walk anywhere in the city and not be confronted by aggressive beggars.
Portland’s Progressive government and status as a sanctuary city, has turned a once beautiful city into a cesspool.

        • Piglet

In the last week of May 2014 I visited Seattle and was amazed at the number of vagrants begging at every intersection and every highway ramp and all over the city. There were so many that you’d think there was a vagrant convention in town.

          • kcr33

I was in Seattle last week and saw a homeless women camped out playing on a smart phone. Go figure.

          • skkkrewthebrownclown

There’s one in every town, and they never end, the numbers just keep on growing.

    • iris

This is going on in major cities all over the country. It’s been getting steadily worse for years, and something needs to be done fast for our homeless. Instead, we give Iran $150 billion, have trained and fund most of the current terrorists for that matter, while they chant “death to America”, but our own, that’s a different story. It might seem to an objective observer, that these domestic problems have been planned, given the money and resources still available here, compared to the rest of the world.

      • mmercier0921

Everybody knows there are no homeless people until there is a republican president.

      • Gay Veteran

why are you complaining about $150 billion when we have spent several $TRILLIONS in Iraq and Afghanistan?

  • K

There is no point, in paying any attention to numbers generated by the Government. This Government has shown it will not tell the citizens, the truth about anything

    • James

Their formulas, calculations, and reports are public.
You can critize them, and suggest new ones.

      • Kim

Or we can just wait until they are seasonally revised five times and settle on a “number”. Lol

      • K

To what possible end? The Government does not listen to the public. Case in point, the Iranian deal Seems certain to go through. Yet the last poll I saw, said 70% of the public was against it. There is no representative Government in this Country. Just the best Government, money can buy.

        • iris

          You said it, K.

        • Gay Veteran

70% of the public couldn’t find Iran on the map

          • skkkrewthebrownclown

What map? The map of Iran, or the globe?

          • Gay Veteran

            LOL, either

        • skkkrewthebrownclown

          amen to that.

    • jaxon64

Sadly, vast segments of our population only get their information from 30 second blurbs on the morning drive to work or a few minutes of scripted, local news which is issued by the Associated Press nationally to all of the MSM ( and owned by the Rothchild family for what it’s worth.)
They lie repeatedly and make up false numbers and data-BECAUSE THEY CAN- and there is nobody with any access to mass information distribution who will tell the emperor he has no clothes.

      • Kim

Which illustrates why we rely on websites like these and our own intellectual perceptions and experiences. They can try to tell us all the that the sky is green. We know it’s not.

        • Rick

In some areas it actually is, as the chem trail poisons create some very unusual colors at times.

          • Kim

well, hopefully most of the time the sky is blue!

          • iris

nasty stuff. and along that line, have you seen some of the weird cloud formations sometimes, as in squares and rectangles? Very unnatural.

          • Rick

I haven’t seen those in my neck of the woods yet, but I do know that DARPA can engineer anything. Hey, check out the Traveling Wilbury’s song “Inside Out” from about 25 years ago. Really listen to their words, they were definitely trying to tell us something. Warning us?

          • Rick

I wasn’t aware of a membership requirements / vetting process to join the discussion, my apologies. Just trying to expose people to true things taking place right over our heads and under our noses. Have you ever looked .. Up? You can’t miss them, and you can’t realistically or scientifically explain them away. Again, sorry for bursting in on your private party. Enjoy the sand.

          • mmercier0921

I do not get drawn in with trolls. My post was more a warning to others. Go hump another leg, there are many who will fall for you and help disrupt the thread..

          • Rick

That’s funny…Hey, not trying to cause problems for your kingdom. Again, I hadn’t realized that you were the editor here and that all comments need to go thru you.
So by deductive reasoning then you would believe and have your followers believe that the unemployment rate really is 5.1%? Since anyone who questions authority is what do you say, “fringe”. Then you would never want to be considered “fringe” by going against the official government statistics right? Am I right?

      • mmercier0921

It is not where the information comes from that is the problem. Some very stupid people become quite intelligent all by their little self with their own little brain.

What keeps people stupid is the indoctrination they received in their formative years that removed consideration of the concept of causality as a mechanism for processing environmental stimuli. Few ask why a thing is what it is, how did it get that way, and is there a better way. Those who do are dealt with quite effectively by age 10.

The only natural advantage the human has over the animal is the rational capability. When this single advantage is removed, the man is at a greater disadvantage in the natural world than a mouse.

This was done with malice, aforethought, by people intent on destroying civilization.

Civilization is the only mechanism that permits the individual to separate the self from the tribe and be allowed to survive.

This is a threat to those who intend to create the rule of hell on this Earth.

I might be wrong by a few percent, but isn’t 96% of our media in this country, including tv, radio, theaters, magazines and newspapers, owned by Robert Murdoch and Ted Turner? It’s why I get my news from Christian websites, and they do a good job.

        Again? Must be a scammer.

Anyway, I like to know from recent college graduates if they have been able to find good jobs in their field of choice?
Are there really graduates out there with bachelors, masters etc. who are only finding low wage jobs?
I heard that jobs such as software engineering, IT etc. are being outsourced to countries such as India. Is that true?
        Thank you for your reply.

        • laura m.

Agree, that’s why my siblings, father inlaw, and hubby were/ are tradesmen, also truckers (nephew, cousins) these jobs cannot be outsourced. People can retrain, and hold pt time jobs like my generation until they get certified. I cannot think of any other solution except winning lottery or inheriting a wad. College is a farce unless person chooses career in medicine, needed jobs in this country and gets a scholorship. Several I know got engineering degrees and working now. Others trained to repair aircraft. I hope this info helps some.

          • I.M.

Thanks for your reply. Best of luck to your family members. It is so frustrating to go to college and end up saddled with debt and unable to find work. I heard jobs in medicine – health sector, engineering etc.are still in demand. Basically choosing a major is important unlike what your counselor would have you believe.

          • skkkrewthebrownclown

No, they can’t be outsourced, BUT, the powers that be can allow an illegal alien invasion of about roughly 50 million to come rushing in here taking up jobs and forcing the wages right down into the dirt, and that is exactly how they are “taking care” of those few jobs that can’t be outsourced. Don’t be too quick to bite back just because you and yours may have not felt the squeeze from it quite yet because the big overall squeeze is most definitely on it’s way. ETA is any time now.

    • afchief

      Yep, what you said.

    • Kim

Yeah no kidding. Like we really trust the veracity of these “numbers”. Just wait until they are quadrupled-seasonally-adjusted umpteen times. If they aren’t lying outright (which is unlikely) they are just plain wrong.

      • K

Hello Kim. Really feels like things are getting close. Hope all is well with you.

    • mmercier0921

All governments are nothing but roving bands of bandits who stopped roaming/pillaging and decided to take the populations they can control as slaves. They have to lie if they are to prevent general uprising, leading to a rival group taking their slaves.

  • James

261,000 Americans, of their own free will, voluntarily left the workforce in August because they don’t need a job to pay the bills, feed themselves, and keep a roof over their heads.

    That is called retierement

    • jaxon64

Actually no. Labor force participation rates do not count retirees or anyone over 65 or under 18. It only counts those between 18 to 65.
If one subtracts every college student in America from the 94 million, every disabled and early retiree–that still leaves over 22% of the working age populace unemployed.
Nobody is claiming 41% unemployment ( which is what it would be using a straight 59% labor force participation vs not working)–glad I could clear up your misconceptions for you ( unless you WANTED to be in denial of the dire facts.)

      • James

True, I could leave the workforce because I am making enough in stock dividends, bond coupons, stock photo royalities, selling college papers, notes, quizlets I made, wrote in college, book royalities, domain squatting advertising, apartment rents, and recipe royalities.

    • Jpf

I’am 61 and lost my job, can’t find a job ( two job related knee surgeries in the last three years does’t help ) so I have to take retirement at 62, I never wanted to stop working yet. Or start SS yet, I’am taking a big reduction taking SS now but don’t have a choice. I’am living off off of savings now. So now I have to sell my home an my can because I can’t make the payments, will be livening in a older RV, till I die, this is not what I Had plan for ! All I needed was 4 more years of work to pay off things an get full benefits . Anyways that’s the real world out there.

      • flier100

JPF, I hope things get better for you.
        Praying for you. Take care.

      • James

        MM.

          bilge, move on troll

  • James

The lower employment participation can be traced back to the popularity of college, a retiring populace, etc.

  • Erik Bergum

It just seems the Politicians and the Mainstream Media is deceiving a lot of Americans by saying the unemployment is down. Deceiving of course

  • VigilanteCaregiver

I remember this unemployment / economic trouble started with the housing bubble. The oddest thing, though, in 2007; instead of the wealthy and moderately rich folks turning to other investments they pulled their money completely out of the system, sold or closed their businesses, and some began to expatriate. Of course, this is right before Obama and the rest of the radical usurpers came to power. We’ve had this rotten economy ever since.

So, if we wish to recover – throw out the usurpers, deviants, and lunatics from levels of authority.

    • jaxon64

      Too late.
I am not a doom and gloom type, just a pragmatist.
Fifty years of Cultural Marxism has left our nation with Socialist judicial and school systems–essentially they have conquered the rule of law in our land and also the minds of our posterity. Now with Common Core the all out assault to eliminate American identity, pride in your country and history, and constitutional law are being given the final death knell.
Throw in 20+ million illegals from south of the border and 100’s of thousands of Islamic refugees brought in by Obama and the cold, hard truth is our Republic is dead.
      I mourn for my grandchildren.

      • VigilanteCaregiver

Completely agree with your statement, but have a different conclusion than a final death knell. I think the collapse will create a major cultural reset and we will rebuild anew. Shall go into detail when Mike posts up an appropriate article for it (will be very long).

  • HeisKingofKings

In your local community, city or town, look for white panel vans or ones with very dark window tint. Often they are near, parked or cruising in those areas where the homeless gather. After a few weeks of having seen the vans, if you then notice the population of homeless in decline, you can thank the powers at be for erasing the homeless problem. It is still there, just out of site and out of mind. Could it be that the mysterious white vans are the mode of transportation which enable the homeless to suddenly vanish? The question I often ponder is; where are they being driven to or taken to? I read an article a month or so ago on the Commons Sense Show with Dave Hodges that suggested that they are being erased with the aid of mobile crematoriums that look just like a standard, normal 53′ semi trailer. Are these mobile portable cremation units being manufactured by the “Lee” family of the communist country of China, bought and paid for by the taxpayers of America? Very sinister if that in fact is the case. It is certainly something to think about in the coming days and months.

    • ColoradotheBeautiful Nicole

Two questions: have you photo’d or written down the license plate and do you remember what the driver(s) looked like?

    • iris

      What city are you in?

    • VigilanteCaregiver

If these vans and trucks exist (and with all going on these days, it COULD be possible), they’re most likely cremating the already deceased homeless to prevent pandemics (If they are; they’d better be keeping meticulous records and ID’s). Keep looking into it and even question your local county health department. Sometimes they’re surprisingly up front and honest. Sometimes.

    • mmercier0921

All the shiny new lunatic fringers like this site, this means someone has taken note.

There are jobs out there. They do not pay well. They require too much work for too little pay. The chief employers are dollar type stores and fast food restaurants.
I talked to a trainer for a fast food retaurant recently. She hires approximately 25 people a week. After one week 24 of them quit.
They end up hiring kids and old people to do the work because the old people are used to hard work and the kids don’t know any better.
Thus the market for Illegals from south of the border.
Even they do not stay in a job for long.
    At least not here.
We had the blacktop coated on a long driveway and it was about 350 dollars to coat everything. That is 3 car driveway in front and going back about 200 feet into the back yard. The salesman was white and American. The crew came and they were all Mexicans speaking Spanish. One knew English.
They did a good job. But I cannot help but think they might not be legitimately and legally here in the states. Cannot prove it one way or another so I dropped it.
When you have a system created to break everyone financially so that no one has any money left at the end of a lifetime, it is difficult to find anyone with any intelligence at all willing to do hard labor and I do not blame them one bit.
Savings is useless when eventually inflation of the dollar means you are dealing with 50 cents or less on the dollar 20 years from now.
Savings is useless also if you catch a disease that requires expensive treatment even with health insurance. Because right now deductables are very high.
When Obamacare came in it was to provide health insurance for just about everyone. No one talked about the effect on net income.
So insurance has gone through the roof because it is not legally acceptable to go without. Because IRS will fine you if you do.
Something in there is wrong because I bet Illegals do not carry health insurance period.
Nor are they following any of our rules.
Your son is eligible for the draft. Their sons are not.
You pay income tax. They do not.
Until the legislature in the Congress puts a stop to the whole shooting match(pun intended), we have a system discriminatory against the average American citizen.
If the courts were not in the back pocket of the Federal government how could this ever stand up in a court of law?
Unemployment and lies told by government stooges is only the beginning. If the truth were told, none of them would have a job.

    • Rick

You make some very good points. The fact is, “coincidently” since 1913 when the Federal Reserve was illegally created, the dollar has lost 98 cents of per chasing power. So in 1913 you could buy a very fine suit for an ounce of gold ($20), and today you can buy that very same type of suit for an ounce of gold ($1100). So you see, the value of gold has not changed, but the value of our dollar has. Because now our government is in bed with elite private companies like the Federal Reserve, that control our lives, incomes, purchasing power, you name it… Very lucrative for them, very unfortunate for us (little people).

    • mmercier0921

You are looking at the new reality through a pin hole, this is good. Wait until you get a clear view.

      It will get… unpleasenter.

      • DJohn1

I agree. It will get much worse before it gets better if it gets better.
My experience says it won’t get better anytime soon.
The “solution” to the homeless is likely to be a government roundup and gas chambers.
They are currently killing animals off at record rates at animal shelters. It is only one step further to start doing it to people.
        The jails are full.
When leaders in charge in major cities think a solution is to give them a bus ride out of town then the “solution” is just around the corner.

        • iris

Oh, I’m afraid you might be right. I hope not.

  • DB200

Wellwritten article, Michael. Keep up the good work!

You must be responsible with picking your leaders.

Even a quick cursory examination shows you should never put in somebody whose race has never historically ever proven to be economical developing people or your nation/state will turn out the same way.

And repeating the process will eventually bankrupt your nation which really represents your state of mind decline.

Yup, and the hell that is/has/continues to unfold around us is only visible to those with eyes to see and ears to hear. Okay. That said, there is no doubt in my mind that the “great” unfolding/exposing/destruction of what little charade continues to blind/console the sheeple will come to pass “shortly” as in before the end of the year if not within the next few weeks. At that point ALL eyes and ears will be open and you’d better be prepped, prayed and protected ’cause the gimmethats will be doing more than holding signs on freeway on/off ramps for cash…..

Because they’re lying, when the bottom does fall out, millions will be unprepared for what will happen, and will perish in mass confusion. This is all part of the plan for destroying the United States, subordinating it to their planned post 9/11 (inside job) Satanic NWO.

      Got that right.

Governments can not prevent cyclical recessions. Governments can turn a cyclical recession into a prolonged depression. This is exactly what has happened. If it were not for the media, and the fact that the food lines of the past are hidden by electronic transfer of government aid, the truth could not be hidden.

This depression will in fact become the new normal as the policies that have created it are now embraced by both political branches of what is now a single statist party. This situation will continue until it becomes impossible to maintain the financial shell game and the structure collapses.

The lights will then literally go out for a prolonged period, the reason will be unimportant, and unknown to the masses., Nature will then be allowed to reestablish balance of the human population in the remainder of the few civilized parts of the planet.

This is the only remaining option based on the structure those who have assumed control can permit if they are to keep their power..

well i am an informed kook looking for my tin foil hat,or at least thats the people around me say….im tired of trying to bring them up to speed and i dont think i will be able to pitty them when the bottom drops out…

Agree. If a person does not choose to be objective about the reality that exists then all the explaining/talking to awaken them is just wasted breath. Frankly, I buttoned up a good while back and actually enjoy the time I spend in “ignorant” company as they talk about the latest greatest gadget, movie, whatever. Am I happy about their ignorance? of course not but there is no longer any good that can come from my effort to educate them…. as the saying goes, “we will see what we will see…”

Same here. People for the most part are as dumb as sheep. Maybe that’s why they call them sheeple?

When TSHTF and they come cryin’ to me I’ve already told ’em, the only thing you’ll get here is some hot lead. When that runs out if you’re still alive then by all means take anything you want.

Wow, so they just quit publishing the data, guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

If you want to live a lie then just believe everything the gov’t tells you, because EVERYTHING they tell you is a lie. Our gov’t is our own worst enemy bar none.

America. Revitalizing propaganda as it has never been before.

There are over 1 billion disabled people in the world. The Agenda 21 Depopulation Plan intends to kill-off the chronically-ill, the disabled, the homeless, the elderly, and the children, Once these populations are gone, then they will come for all the other 5.1 billion undesirables!
