Drudge: ‘HOMELAND SECURITY TO TAKE CHARGE OF ELECTIONS’

Drudge Homeland Security Elections - Drudge ReportWhy does the Department of Homeland Security all of a sudden want to oversee security for the election in November? Just a little while ago I checked the Drudge Report, and I was greeted by the following headline all in red: “HOMELAND SECURITY TO TAKE CHARGE OF ELECTIONS”. I was immediately alarmed, because I had already heard about how local election databases had been hacked, and Donald Trump has expressed concern that the presidential election in November could be rigged somehow. So I immediately clicked on the link and it took me to an article from the Washington Examiner

Even before the FBI identified new cyber attacks on two separate state election boards, the Department of Homeland Security began considering declaring the election a “critical infrastructure,” giving it the same control over security it has over Wall Street and and the electric power grid.

The latest admissions of attacks could speed up that effort possibly including the upcoming presidential election, according to officials.

“We should carefully consider whether our election system, our election process, is critical infrastructure like the financial sector, like the power grid,” Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said.

I would definitely agree with Johnson that our election system is critical infrastructure.

But can a Department of Homeland Security that has been packed with Obama appointees actually be trusted to handle the security for our elections in a fair manner?

Unfortunately, I believe that is a legitimate question.

However, I will concede that something needs to be done. Just the other day, FBI Director James Comey admitted that his agency is taking the threat of election cyberattacks “very, very seriously” after a couple of local election databases were successfully attacked. The following comes from ABC News

Three days ago, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., sent a letter to Comey, expressing concern that “the threat of the Russian government tampering in our presidential election is more extensive than widely known and may include the intent to falsify official election results.”

In late June an “unknown actor scanned a state’s Board of Election website for vulnerabilities” and, after identifying a security gap, exploited the vulnerability to conduct a “data exfiltration,” or unauthorized data transfer, the FBI said in a recent bulletin.

Earlier this month, hackers used the same vulnerability in an “attempted intrusion activities into another state’s Board of Election system,” the FBI said.

The integrity of our elections is absolutely paramount. Without free and fair elections we might as well not even have a country.

So the fact that hackers have proven that they can hack into some of our systems is quite alarming indeed.

According to the Daily Beast, voter databases in Arizona and Illinois were the ones that were victimized…

The FBI’s analysis of the hacks, contained in a security alert first reported by Yahoo News, shows that Arizona’s elections website was penetrated in June using a common vulnerability that’s well known to security experts. Then, in July, Illinois’ voter files were accessed apparently using stolen login credentials, which could have been obtained by spear phishing a state employee.

So was much damage done by these hackers?

Well, it has been documented that many voters in Arizona did have their party affiliations changed without their knowledge or consent, and this rendered them unable to vote during the primaries

During the primary election in Arizona, for instance, a number of voters found that their party affiliation had been changed without their knowledge. When they showed up to vote in the state’s closed primary elections, some were told they were ineligible to vote with the party of their choice.

State officials have blamed the problem at least in part on an error at the state’s driver registration bureau. But similar problems have reportedly cropped up in California, Connecticut, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Needless to say, we can’t have hackers messing with our elections, and something needs to be done.

I just don’t know if the Department of Homeland Security can be trusted or if they are the ones that should be fixing this problem.

Before I close this article today, there is one more item that I would like to bring up. In the past, there has been much speculation on the Internet that some sort of “event” could suspend or delay the coming election, and that is why the following headline from U.S. News & World Report caught my eye: “A Candidate’s Death Could Delay or Eliminate the Presidential Election“. This is how that article begins…

The presidential election could be delayed or scrapped altogether if conspiracy theories become predictive and a candidate dies or drops out before Nov. 8. The perhaps equally startling alternative, if there’s enough time: Small groups of people hand-picking a replacement pursuant to obscure party rules.

The scenarios have been seriously considered by few outside of the legal community and likely are too morbid for polite discussion in politically mixed company. But prominent law professors have pondered the effects and possible ways to address a late-date vacancy.

“There’s nothing in the Constitution which requires a popular election for the electors serving in the Electoral College,” says John Nagle, a law professor at the University of Notre Dame, meaning the body that officially elects presidents could convene without the general public voting.

In this article and this article I documented how Hillary Clinton’s health appears to be rapidly failing. It is entirely possibly that if her health continues to go downhill that she might not even make it to election day.

Alternatively, many among the elite would be extremely happy if something caused Donald Trump not to make it to election day. So let us definitely pray for his health and safety and the health and safety of his family.

This election season has already been the strangest one that we have seen in decades, and I have a feeling that it is going to get a lot stranger over the next couple of months.

In the end, let us hope and pray for a fair, honest and safe election, because the American people should get to choose who will be leading them for the next four years.

Want to make elections unhackable. Go back to paper ballots, that are hand counted. If DHS runs the election, America is totally over. Anyone who would trust that group, is in La La land. You might as well turn fair and honest elections, over to the CIA.

    • K

McCain, Rubio, Wasserman Schultz Win Primary Fights. Between voters this downright ignorant. And the DHS. It almost feels, like there is no purpose in voting. Try not to give in to that. Trump voters want him to win. Hillary voters want her in, by any means possible. Wasserman Schultz primary win, proves that to me.

That technology worked for Washington in 1792. It will still work… look what Einstein and Beethoven did with paper and pencil.

    • GetReal4U2

so…the “paper ballot” trucks…(ran by DHS)…prove what again?

although i agree paper ballots are all we have…

  • oUCH

I noticed all the little press stories about hackers, worries and such over the last few months and thought at that time; perhaps someone is setting the stage.. just in case. The individual States are charged with running their own elections by the Constitution.. any “declaration” of so-called “critical infrastructure” is a direct violation of the Constitution, IMO. I also caught that same odd story about what happens if a candidate dies.. I have been concerned that if our current Glorious Leader ( s ) think that Billary can’t pull it out of her hat.. they might just try something.. I put nothing past these people.. they have proven they have very little regard for the Constitution in real action terms.. only giving lip service to it when it suits their purposes. Personally, I hope everyone floods their Senator and Congress people’s offices with phone calls tomorrow and continue it.. otherwise.. our election really could be hacked and that by our own current leaders. Does ANYONE really believe Harry Reid has any interest at all in a truly fair and honest election ??

    • Gay Veteran

      “…is a direct violation of the Constitution….”

do you think we have a functioning Constitution now?!?!?

      • iris

We have a perfectly functioning Constitution with leadership who often refuse to follow it.

  • GHobbit

Also on Drudge today: “IRS doesn’t tell 1 million taxpayers that illegals stole their Social Security numbers…” I’m good with DHS running the election — what could possibly go wrong? The States have done a good job for over 200 years, leave it there!

  • Sammy

“Homeland Security to take charges of elections”= “The Obama Administration to take charges of elections”

  • AverGo

Just as the Banking System is built on Fabrication, So is the S-election process.

  • horse777res

It doesnt matter who votes, it only matters who count’s the votes. “Lenin ”

    • JB

That’s why early voting/ absentee is a farce.

  • Paul Patriot

Michael, you of all people should know that there is a 99.9% probability that Hitlery will be the next president.

No one better to position America so the global elite can meld America into the NWO.

If by some miracle Trump gets in, you can expect a lot of bizarre things to happen. This nation believed the pied piper of propaganda when he promised change…..and they loved what changes they were witnessing, they voted him in for a second term……or did they? Was obummer simply allowed as judgement on America??? If so, then Hitlery will keep the run away train of tyrannical, pseudo Marxism rolling right along until it derails and adds the final nail in the coffin of the former Constitutional Republic.

Hate to be pessimistic, but, that’s the direction we have been headed for quite some time.

I fear for the future of my children
(Yes, adopted children by the way, gay veteran!!!!)

    • iris

Yes, it is. The citizenship of Christians is in heaven, this is a very temporary state, (pun wasn’t intended, but certainly applies).

    • Herman Christian

Bizarre things will begin to happen? I’d say they are already well on their way?

  • VigilanteCaregiver

No such thing as an unhackable, untainted, completely honest election; it’s managed by and used by humans. This is exactly why the Founders wrote and ratified the Constitution so local elections are more important than state and national ones.

    • iris

Agree, and the majority of states contract with one or more of 5 electronic voting machine companies, all of which utilize the GEMS program. No wonder most of the historically very conservative-conservative states are now showing election results from the bottom up, as being much more liberal than what one hears from their citizens on the street. Lots of lies have been swallowed for a long time.

      • VigilanteCaregiver

Actually no. Liberals, progressives and radical leftist usurpers are a very small political minority centering around college campuses and city centers. The majority of the country is normal, unaffiliated folks with loyalty to the Constitution.

        • iris

Maybe I didn’t word that well, as your response is exactly what I meant.

          • VigilanteCaregiver

            It’s cool.

  • Lindy

These guys should not be saying anything about elections because Homeland Security is not an elected position. It is appointed. And appointed does not count. The long arm of the executive branch is reaching into the ballot box, to make sure that some boogie man, out there, doesn’t tamper with the machine. But they themselves are the boogie man, in control of the votes. They are attempting to steal the cookies from the cookie jar and they are making all kinds of excuses why they need to be holding the cookie jar. Where is Congress?

    • iris

where, indeed. We get requests for money every other day from some supposedly Republican group or other, like we’re just going to trust that letter or them. What a joke, as many major GOP faces are endorsing Hillary, instead of their duly elected candidate.

    • Herman Christian

Appointed and un elected make up the primary deep state population Lindy?

  • GetReal4U2

it’s not the votes that matter…it’s who counts the votes…(wink)

    • Herman Christian

      Stalin thought so?

  • DJohn1

Let us put the fox in charge of the hen house.
    Congress appears to be useless.
Possibly they are all ready bought and paid for in both parties.
Where they have blundered big time is they are not even maintaining the appearance of things. This is basically dictatorship and anarchy.
I suspect when all of this becomes apparent then everything will hit the fan and as people wake up it will either change or it will not.
Much of which depends on our representatives in Congress.
My suggestion is to vote them out of office at the first opportunity which appears to be every two years in one house and every six years in the other.
Unlike parliaments in which leadership can change over night, this appears to be stuck in the mud.
Before this is all over with I think there is going to be a whole lot of changes. They blundered by being so open about it.

    • iris

Agree. It looks as if they’re daring folks to revolt. Marie Antoinette said, “Let them eat cake!” I know there are still a few good Congress people, but most of them are in lockstep with the globalist elites’ agenda. Those FEMA camps probably aren’t in place for radical terrorists, because “tptb” want them here. We should expect martial law or worse in the country, soon, but need to keep looking up. God’s sovereign, even now.

If, for some reason, a vote of the people in a state cannot occur for the selection of the President of the United States, The Constitution provides that the state’s legislature be called into session to cast the electoral votes on behalf of the people for that state.

So, there is an alternative if the vote of the people can’t be taken.

  • SantosGarcia
    • iris

Yes. Let’s learn from the book of Habakkuk. He wondered why God would allow a nation more evil than Israel, to punish Israel, until he recognized God’s sovereignty and promises. Chapter 3 ends with his famous song of faith and exultation in God, regardless of what happens, vs 18-19, “Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and He has made my feet like deer’s feet, and makes me walk on my high places.”

  • Herman Christian

Having old J.J. and the DHS with their stellar Constitutional record in charge of a constitutional event and process. The old cliché of fox guarding the hen house comes immediately to mind? DHS and its alphabet consortiums providing the lions share of training local and state police with the Us against them mindsets is hardly the ones we should have near anything like this. The move to federalize law enforcement by Obama and his appointees in and out of that org isn’t appealing at all?

    • iris

Yes, appalling. We were living in Orwell’s 1984, in or before 1984. Now, more people are starting to realize it.

    • hangthegoatphuckerintheWH

That goatphucking muzzy in the WH has stacked this gov’t/administration from the floor up with fellow goatphucking muzzies just like Jeh Johnson.

I never knew they could stack chit that high and make it walk talk and lie, but they’ve accomplished the absolute unthinkable. Lock ’em load ’em and keep ’em really really close. TS is about to HTF.
