Coming Soon? This Is What Would Happen If A 9.0 Earthquake Hit The Cascadia Subduction Zone…

Cascadia Earthquake Zone - Public DomainIf you live in the Pacific Northwest, you have probably already heard of the Cascadia Subduction Zone.  It is where the Juan de Fuca plate meets the North American plate, and it stretches approximately 700 miles from northern Vancouver Island all the way down to northern California.  This subduction zone is capable of producing far more powerful earthquakes than the much more famous San Andreas fault in southern California, and scientists tell us that it is only a matter of time before another continent-killing earthquake hits this area.  And when it does hit, it will be far worse than any other natural disaster that the United States has ever seen up to this point.

According to CNN, “the largest earthquake in the continental United States” took place along the Cascadia Subduction Zone on January 26th, 1700, and one of the reasons why it is considered to be far more dangerous than other west coast faults is because it is also capable of producing massive tsunamis

The Cascadia can deliver a quake that’s many times stronger — plus a tsunami.

“Cascadia can make an earthquake almost 30 times more energetic than the San Andreas to start with, and then it generates a tsunami at the same time, which the side-by-side motion of the San Andreas can’t do,” said Chris Goldfinger, a professor of geophysics at Oregon State University.

The Cascadia is capable of delivering a 9.0-magnitude quake — an awesome show of force by Mother Nature.

So what would that look like?

What would a 9.0-magnitude quake that also produced a huge tsunami do to the highly populated northwest coast?

According to an article in the New Yorker, the head of the FEMA division that oversees Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska says that “everything west of Interstate 5 will be toast”…

If the entire zone gives way at once, an event that seismologists call a full-margin rupture, the magnitude will be somewhere between 8.7 and 9.2. That’s the very big one.

…By the time the shaking has ceased and the tsunami has receded, the region will be unrecognizable. Kenneth Murphy, who directs FEMA’s Region X, the division responsible for Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska, says, “Our operating assumption is that everything west of Interstate 5 will be toast.”

In the Pacific Northwest, everything west of Interstate 5 covers some hundred and forty thousand square miles, including Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, Eugene, Salem (the capital city of Oregon), Olympia (the capital of Washington), and some seven million people.

Like I said earlier, it would be far worse than any natural disaster that we have ever experienced in the history of the United States up until now.

And it could happen at literally any moment.  In fact, many scientists believe that we are way overdue for a continent-altering earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone.  Tension has been building up there for a very long time, and at some point that tension will be released.

A recent piece by Adam Rothstein gives us an idea of what the first few moments of such a quake might look like in the city of Portland, Oregon…

Cacophony swells from the city as if it is howling in response to the earth’s call: car alarms, shattering glass, the thudding of bricks popping out of building facades, humans screaming in fright, and far off, echoes of what sound like dumpsters clattering to the ground from the jaws of garbage trucks. It is the sound of shifting foundations and collapsing masonry, continuously, a roar increasing from every direction. It is the sound of the living surfaces that a city takes for granted becoming undone.

Since we have not experienced such an earthquake in any of our lifetimes, it is easy to assume that one will never happen.

But that is not what the scientists are telling us.

In fact, they insist that the odds of “a continent-rending earthquake” in the near future are actually quite good…

The Pacific Northwest is due for a continent-rending earthquake. Experts believe the odds of a Big One happening in the next half century are about one in three, the odds of a Very Big One roughly one in ten, and that, in either case, we are disastrously unprepared.

And let us not forget that the Cascadia Subduction Zone sits directly along the Ring of Fire, and the Ring of Fire has started to become much more active in recent years.

In addition, if the region starts to become more seismically active there is also a very real possibility that we could see a full-blown eruption of Mt. Rainier, which has been described as “the most dangerous mountain in America“.

Let us hope that we have as much time as possible before our nation has to deal with such calamities, but the cold, hard truth is that we are certainly not helping matters by acting so wickedly.

If we continue to do the same things that we have been doing, it is only a matter of time before the judgment of God comes to our land in a major way.  We are killing millions of babies, harvesting their body parts and auctioning those body parts off to the highest bidder.  To many Americans that may seem like “old news”, but I assure you that this is not “old news” to God.

I don’t think that it was any accident that the series of undercover Planned Parenthood videos that were released last year came out when they did.  We were being shown our guilt and we were being given one last chance to repent.

There was a congressional hearing about this last Wednesday.  The following comes from

“Have we reached a point in our society where there effectively is an for human parts, entire babies?” Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) asked the witnesses at a special hearing on bioethics and fetal tissue on Wednesday.

Dr. Gerard Kevin Donovan, a pediatrician and bioethicist at Georgetown University, responded that the practice of using tissue from aborted babies for government-funded research “shocks my conscience and it should shock the conscience of the nation.”

Unfortunately, the buying and selling of harvested baby parts does not shock the conscience of our nation.  In fact, most surveys show that an overwhelming percentage of the American people want to continue giving hundreds of millions of tax dollars to Planned Parenthood each year even though they have been doing this.

Since we have not responded to God’s calls to repent, all that is left is for Him to shake us.

And without a doubt, the shaking is coming soon…

…It’s just a matter of time…because the spoiled american “blind”, continue to “follow the blind”. Our creator will soon supply the “ditch” for them to fall into.

    • Kim

No he won’t. That is not consistent with what the bible teaches or what Christ taught. Man’s undoing will be his own.

      • davidnrobyn

You’re quibbling. The net result will be the same. We know that whatever God does is good. Let Him decide what’s theologically correct.

        • Kim

Of course he decides. It’s all written down in the bible. If God didn’t want us to know, he wouldn’t have inspired the written word. There is only one truth.

      • rmc9

God said “He is the same yesterday, today and forever”…the way I remember it,He opened up the ground and had the rebellious children of Israel, fall into it…something about a golden calf. might it happen again?

  • GetReal4U2

    may God help us all…

    • Kim

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink it. I love that saying. It really sums of the concept of free will. God has supplied a lot of help but greed and arrogance obscure the way. Just as in the days of Jericho- stand still and see the salvation of God.

  • Kim

Yes God will shake the foundations of this world but not by means of an earthquake and not by a volcanic eruption in one tiny specific corner of the world. There are several places in the bible that indicate that righteous, God-fearing people will be spared or saved from the calamity of divine judgment however not of natural or man-made disaster(s).

Large, disastrous earthquakes are indiscriminate and random and a sign of the last days. God’s intervention is specific and deliberate and salvation will be granted to the righteous when that happens. Until then, this world will endure distasters both man-made and natural and all sorts of people will die.

IF an earthquake were to occur in the PNW, however likely, it would be a result or a consequence of nature. But when God passes judgment on this wicked world it will be world-wide and every man woman and child alive will bow, perceiving exactly what is happening.

  • Tired of the BS

Interesting prediction, Here’s mine: I predict the Bernie Sanders backers will move out of their mom’s basements and get jobs BEFORE a 9.0 earthquake happens under Seattle. There ya go. Doesn’t have that “sky is falling” quality to it but it’s best I can do under short notice.

  • K

Well as long as we are discussing the worst case scenario. Let us add, the survivors would have a good chance of dying from radiation. In this zone several nuclear vessels in port, at any given time. Could end up destroyed, with their reactors leaking. The 3rd largest nuclear arsenal in the U.S., also contained in this zone. Imagine the level of radiation, if most of those cracked open Between man and nature, the area is one of, if not the most dangerous in the Country. Will this all come to pass one day. That is a God level decision. But those who understand, would be hard pressed to claim, we do not deserve it.

Ok will wait for economic collapse and big earthquake. Same stuff different year

    • jaguar

Economic collapse is a going on as we speak, open your eyes…its already happening in Canada. 40,000 people lost their jobs due to Oil prices dropping.. Now their food prices have doubled, crimes have doubled, including home invasions and lots of people are committing suicide… Educate yourself there buckwheat!!!

Canada rejected the very capable Prime Minister Harper and replaced him with the creepy socialist Trudeau. We in America know (well, some of us) what happens when you elect an incompetent, treasonous scumbag.

You know you are not a political idiot, so why do you think youget replies whichsnap back at you? Is it because you do nothear your own insults and act like stuck pig when a replier serves you hot soup to swim it.? Ease up on your neighbors if you do not want to meet more than your match at words and opinions, Salty.

You better head on back to your freeway underpass before you miss out on the last swig off the T-Bird bottle. Plus it’s getting late and you might drive your shopping cart off the road.

          • sonneofmanisrael

You give laughs today. I ask you to be decent and you spew this stuff. I do not drink or smoke. I stay in a private shelter where I am trusted to not steal or destroy. You would be kicked out for being a lout.

          • Saltherring

Back to the name-calling I see. Well, I suppose it’s easier spending your time on the internet calling people names than having to earn your own keep. Just be thankful that someone worked so you can eat and have a roof over your head. Perhaps you could earn your way making Bernie Sanders campaign signs?

  • Ray Jones

all of it will be caused by men and their machines its all fake and the bible talks about it……i am sorry for those of you who are ready for it to begin you all had your chance to prepare and get right with god…………….

  • DJohn1

What is described here is likely to happen some time down the road.
Is it caused by the sins of Mankind? Is it planned parenthood’s fault?
No. It is simply a situation where geology and the city planners are at odds. If such an event were to happen it is likely that these same rats would have long since abandoned ship.
Because the fact is they should never have planned a city on a fault line. To be charitable, they were unaware of that potential disaster when the cities were built.
We have seen potential disasters and disasters in California since I was a child in the 50s. And long before that.
Do I think that God in his wisdom is going to destroy the world as we know it? Perhaps. Perhaps not. What is more likely is that even the worst case scenario will mean people have to move somewhere else that is stable.
But where would that be? Because every area has earthquakes. Many have volcanoes.
Most of our weather is dependent on the Gulf of Mexico. It determines whether or not we get adequate rain for the crops to grow.
I begin to see the wisdom of building pyramids in Egypt. But even that area is not really stable.
What I see is this planet itself is unstable over the long term. Yet life goes on. Every generation deals with disasters of one kind or another.
As for planned parenthood? I suggest we cut out the bad parts of this rotten apple and throw them in jail. Then re-organize the good parts that actually help people and go with that.
What those doctors did is illegal. So prosecute.
Yellowstone National Park holds the potential for a super volcano erupting in the near future.
If that happens chaos will rein supreme. But until that happens refrain from sacrificing virgins to the flames.
I think we need to straighten up our acts and get rid of the corruption that plagues all of us.
Will it happen soon? Probably not in my lifetime.
The reason we need to save those babies is they are part of our future. But the cost of saving them? That is what it really comes down to, cost. Because each child saved costs money to raise. Average being over 40,000 dollars in current currency.
The problem is partly that the human race is not as fertile as it once was. Eventually that means fewer babies being born than we have old people dying.
I know of one woman that saved her baby instead of aborting it. She will never have another child. This one she raises herself.
Children are precious gifts of God.
The problem is that once you trash that gift, you may never ever have another child.
The reality is there are no guarantees. And the Universe itself is a very violent place.

    • jaguar

Everything that happens is due to what man does here on earth… Does God punish Earth because of her sins? Yes, he does…there was even an earthquake right when JESUS died on the caused a large Crack in the church in Jerusalem… Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by fire and brimstone, because of all the sodomy and Atrocities going on…etc., etc…

  • Alleged Comment

The Confederacy of Dunces have taken over.

From the illegal Negro sodomite to the GOOP committing suicide and madness, to German people supporting Merkel who like Hitler has a micro p*nis to Abrams wanting Star Wars characters to be gay.

Yes ucking little *aggots have taken over. Sodomy and Gonorrhea will be our destruction. Don’t forget negative interest rates and a cashless society to usher in the Mark of the Beast.

All hail the negro sodomite and his ucking little *aggots!

For those of you whom believe that “everything west of I-5 will be toast” I’ve got a bridge to sell ya!
For those of us whom have actually driven the I-5 in Washington down to Oregon, we know they’re just pumping up the fear balloon.
The highway is mostly hundreds of feet above sea level and tens of miles inland, I’m sorry Mr. Whitecoat Expert but you’re fear mongering is wrong!
A 9.0 earthquake will be devastating but if you believe that the I-5 is in danger you’d better kiss the Hawaiian Islands goodbye as well as Vancouver Island, the Queen Charlottes and many more.

Sorry but it just ain’t going to happen that way.

    • Saltherring

You are clueless. Most of the population centers in the Puget Sound region are less that 100 feet above sea level. I know…I have lived on the Olympic Peninsula for nearly 65 years and have read the maps and traveled the region extensively. Washington State residents voted to legalize marijuana and homosexual “marriage” in November of 2012. They also elect and re-elect the most disgustingly pro-abortion creeps one could imagine to public office. U.S. Senators Murray and Cantwell are owned by the abortion industry. Seattle’s mayor is a queer. I would not want to be “left behind” here after the rapture occurs.

      • Jobe Hinnid

@CharlesH yes I read “west of I-5” also. What was I supposed to get? Look for yourself on a google map; other than going through the Seattle area the interstate is well in excess of 10’s of miles inland and well above sea level.

@saltherring:disqus am not clueless amigo. Again, just look at a map and one will realize that Seattle is massively sheltered in Puget Sound and will never take a direct hit. The kind of “runaway” tsunami that the mainstream liars are chirping about just can’t happen in Seattle proper nor Vancouver, CAN (both are 140 miles away from open ocean, both being protected by Vancouver Island and Olympic Peninsula) and in Portland where the I-5 goes through is 60+ miles inland.

Don’t get me wrong, a 9.0 earthquake in a vulnerable subduction zone is a massive thing to be concerned about. And those coastal cities that are facing open ocean are at risk not matter how big the tsunami is and should have contingency plans in place.

But a tsunami wave tall enough and moving with the requisite force required to make it to the I-5 and “wipe everything west of the I-5 off the map” is simply only on par with Hollywood movie plots.

    • CharlesH

Read the article – it said “west of I-5”. Got it?

  • Bob Smith

Seattle is not on the coast of Washington. It’s on Puget Sound. I would think if a large quake happened, then the Olympic Peninsula and the Olympic Mountains would shield Seattle from all tsunamis.

  • trueacer

Okay. I’ve come upon this sort of thing often enough. It’s time to speak out.

My point is not to impose my religious views on readers nor attack the religious views of others. Our Free Republic, the one that is about to be lost to the Globalist banksters if the People do not stand up as one and say NO, is built upon a Constitution which reflects each individual’s inherent right to believe as he or she wishes, and to live his/her life precisely in accordance to those beliefs.

That said, my point ~ IS ~ to put into words as succinctly as possible, and of course inevitably imperfectly, that the living revelation which Jesus of Nazareth brought to our world of the character and nature of our heavenly Father is NOT COMPATIBLE with the previous, humanly-derived and evolved, and imperfect ideas of the nature and character of the Person of God.

Jesus *perfectly* revealed our heavenly Father to be infinitely-loving, divinely merciful, fully understanding and absolutely GOOD. Jesus demonstrated how and why we may wholeheartedly desire to become more and more like our heavenly Father. The beauty of the Person of God is such that ‘in all your afflictions He is afflicted.’ ‘Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.’ ‘Be ye Perfect, even as our Father in heaven is perfect.’

It is HIGH TIME to cast off those juvenile and false notions of an imperfect God, one who ‘goes on a rampage in the storm.’ Our heavenly Father is not in the business of expressing displeasure through geophysical calamities. When the Cascadia Subduction Zone rips, land masses sink, and a series of tsunamis wipes out coastal areas as far away as Japan, or when the planet is pummeled with an asteroid, or when Mt. Rainier blows, or when volcanoes all around the world have already blown and continue to blow, or when a Class M solar flare is belched out directly toward earth and causes another EMP as has already occurred in 1859 and is referred to as the ‘Carrington Event,’ or when the accelerating march of the magnetic poles finally results in a full reversal shift, or when the progressing Maunder Minimum finally results in the earth’s climate reverting to the more common colder temperatures such that the river Thames freezes over for decades again, the loveliness of his character and the beauty of his nature, and the unqualified caring and guidance of each of us individually by his indwelling Spirit to the extent we allow and are humanly capable of perceiving, remains undiminished. The planet has been forged over millions of years through natural events, and although its state has calmed tremendously since the dawn of man, the fact is that the planet is still forming, and will continue to do so for millions of years into the future. And throughout all earthly time, the divine love and boundless mercy, the splendor of his goodness, will be just as repletely poured out upon every individual and all humankind as it is even now and has always been throughout the past.

“Unfortunately, the buying and selling of harvested baby parts does not shock the conscience of our nation. In fact, most surveys show that an overwhelming percentage of the American people want to continue giving hundreds of millions of tax dollars to Planned Parenthood each year even though they have been doing this.”

This is why I don’t understand why so many “pro-life” Americans are supporting Donald Trump, who praises Planned Parenthood and Planned Parenthood in turn says nice things about him. Any candidate that has good things to say about the nation’s number one baby-killing-and-selling outfit is not worthy of our support.

For all those that snigger at this article in sly derision, just remember,”The Devils Believe in God and at Least They TREMBLE”!!!

  • MaxRockatansky33

It can happen tomorrow but also it could happen for 100 years. And God has nothing to do with this. No Judgement days on horizon aka God Wrath with sending cataclysm to kill millions of innocent people. So relax Bible thumpers.

    • sonneofmanisrael

I do not thump it. I read it and understand it. No people are innocent.

      • MaxRockatansky33

Nobody is innocent. Religious bigots as well.

        • sonneofmanisrael

But not all bigots are religious. Being bigoted against Christian people is the common thread on many sites which lump all as bigots. Are not all muslims bigots? are not all people bigots? It is a cheese word like racist.
Except ye repent is therule. That means to recognize the error and change for the better. That is Biblical and follows Christ.

          • MaxRockatansky33

When Mozlems are bigots they become terrorists. That’s no longer a bigotry but a dangerous hateful fanatism.

This country does many things I disagree with but giving any of my federal taxes to Planned Parenthood is something that I can not abide by and find reprehensible!!
