Chinese Exports Plunge 11.2 Percent As Economic Activity Continues To Collapse All Over The Planet

Cargo Ship - Public DomainIf the global economy is in fine shape, then why does all of the hard data tell us that global trade is absolutely collapsing?  The Baltic Dry Index has fallen below 300 for the first time ever, and export numbers are way down for almost every major exporting nation on the entire planet.  As you will see below, this includes China.  The Chinese account for more global trade than anyone else, and so the fact that their imports and their exports are both collapsing precipitously is a huge red flag.  When less stuff is being bought and sold and shipped around the world, that tells us that the “real economy” is contracting.  Tremendous efforts are being made to try to prop up financial markets all over the globe right now, but in the end those efforts are going to prove to be rather futile.  The global economy is clearly plunging into recession, and at this point it is becoming exceedingly difficult for even the most optimistic economic analysts to deny this reality.

When the trade numbers for China for the month of January were released, they were an extreme disappointment.  The following comes from CNBC

China‘s exports fell 11.2 percent on-year in January, while imports declined 18.8 percent, clocking far bigger slides than expected by analysts.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected a 1.9 percent drop in January exports, and a 0.8 percent drop in imports, after China’s exports fell 1.4 percent in December from a year earlier and imports slid 7.6 percent .

We never see numbers like this outside of a recession.

Chinese imports have now fallen for 15 months in a row, and the second largest economy on the entire planet appears to be in the process of imploding.  As I mentioned above, China has become the most important hub for global trade.  Nobody accounts for more total trade than they do, and so these new numbers can only be described as catastrophic.

Other numbers are telling the same story.  Global trade has fallen so dramatically that it is now cheaper to rent a 1,100 foot merchant vessel that than it is to rent a Ferrari…

Rates for Capesize-class ships plummeted 92 percent since August to $1,563 a day amid slowing growth in China. That’s less than a third of the daily rate of 3,950 pounds ($5,597) to rent a Ferrari F40, the price of which has also fallen slightly in the past few years, according to Nick Hardwick, founder of The Baltic Exchange’s rates reflect the cost of hiring the vessel but not fuel costs. Ships burn about 35 metric tons a day, implying a cost of about $4,000 at present prices, data compiled by Bloomberg show.

Can you believe that?

This is just another sign of how crazy things have become.

Another indication of the slowdown in China is what is happening to the Hong Kong housing market.  Just check out these numbers

Two weeks ago, in our latest report on the Hong Kong housing market, we observed that according to the local Centaline Property Agency total Hong Kong property transactions in January were on track to register the worst month since 1991, when it started compiling monthly figures. In other words, the biggest drop in recorded history.

Centaline estimated that only 3,000 transactions will have registered with developers slowing down new launches, while only 394 units were sold in the first 27 days of January, 80.3 per cent lower than the 2,127 deals lodged in December. Meanwhile, sales of used homes fell by a fifth to 1,276 deals in January.

We could talk about many more examples like this all over the world.

Most people like to watch the ups and downs of the financial markets, but it is the hard economic numbers that tell us the real story.

We are in the midst of a stunning global economic downturn, and the global financial system is starting to take notice.  Global stocks have fallen into bear market territory, the price of oil has fallen by three-fourths over the past 18 months, junk bonds have been crashing hard just like they did in 2008, and at one point last week close to 17 trillion dollars of global stock market wealth had been wiped out since mid-2015.

In a desperate attempt to revive economic activity, many global central banks have started to implement negative interest rates.  Unfortunately, these negative interest rates are having some very nasty unintended consequences

One of the unintended consequences of global central banks’ race to the bottom (which seemingly has no bottom) is that negative interest rates act as a tax on the banking system.

By penalising commercial lenders for parking their reserves at the central bank, it erodes the profit margin they make on charging already low interest rates while raising the cost of capital.

So far, “banks seem unable or unwilling to pass negative deposit rates to their retail customers, leaving them with few options to offset costs”, note analysts at JP Morgan.

The truth is that we have really reached the limit of what monetary policy can do.

Since March 2008, interest rates have been cut 637 times around the world and central banks have purchased 12.3 trillion dollars worth of assets.

Despite all of that unprecedented intervention, we are now plunging into a brand new global crisis.

The central bankers are just making things up as they go along, and they are flailing all over the place as they desperately try to find a way to fix things.  I like how Jim Rogers put it during a recent interview with CNN

Famed investor Jim Rogers is warning that financial Armageddon is just around the corner, and it’s being fueled by moronic central bankers.

We’re all going to pay a horrible price for the incompetence of these central bankers,” he said Monday in a TV interview with CNNMoney’s Nina dos Santos. “We got a bunch of academics and bureaucrats who don’t have a clue what they’re doing.”

We have reached the terminal phase of the greatest financial bubble in history, and now the endgame is upon us.

Yes, governments and central banks will keep trying to “fix things”, but it is becoming exceedingly clear that they are rapidly losing control.

And there are other factors, such as the potential start of World War 3 in the Middle East, that could turn this new crisis into a complete and utter nightmare in no time at all.

So let us pray for the best, but let us also get prepared for the worst…

www lll wont come from the middle east, it will come from China (“red dragon”) when it gets so terrible in their country, and the world, their God like leaders (so they think) will decide that it is tme for a hard-drive wipe and hit the big red button.

3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great RED DRAGON, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
4 AND HIS TAIL DREW THE THIRD PART OF THE STARS OF HEAVEN, AND DID CAST THEM TO THE EARTH: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born Rev 12:3-4 (KJV)

I don’t think so Micheal. I think the Chinese knew they would collapse the American economy, I mean it doesn’t take an Einstein to realize that when there are no jobs here, we would be doomed, so the Chinese are looking for their own workers consuming what we used to. These Chicoms are very intelligent in that they have bought into the natural resources of the world, primarily in Africa. They have also been buying gold, and we have been willing in the West to sell it to them relatively cheap. China will be rising, while we are taking the elevator down. We will know it soon enough when we start mothballing our mighty aircraft carrier fleet. Remember what happened to the Russians back in the 90’s.

don’t confuse the great red dragon of rev 12 with something of the world/of man/of the kingdoms of men. Read the whole chapter rev 12 and notice it’s not man oriented but about the devil then read onward and things like rev 12:7 show the dragon fighting the Archangel Michael…china is not able to withstand an angel sent of God, this fight is not between an angel and some kingdom of man, and further along the dragon is cast down from heaven…china wasn’t nor isn’t nor ever will be in heaven/heavenly, and in rev 20:2 the dragon is completely and finally totally explained-that dragon that old serpent which is the devil and satan.

the kings of the east are shown in rev 16:12 and some consider if the 200 million strong army of rev 9 isn’t the kings of the east also.

also rev 9 is the 6th trumpet judgement, and but before the 7 trumps come the 7 seal judgements..we’re not even into those yet. Most consider the 7 seals then 7 trumps and finally the 7 vials of wrath as kicking off/being brought on by the abomination of desolation, and it’s called that for the very reason.
Keep your eyes upon the Lord Jesus He has this all in His capable hands!

Why didn’t/doesn’t/wouldn’t Satan read the bible the way that the world does and just NOT do what is predicted of him and make God and the bible a liar?

        • carson

the devils given over to his way’s now, rebellion. But he’s not without restraints either, but set on rebellion he does always wrong and sets out to do wrong and can only do wrong, kill steal and destroy. It’s like asking the addict why he always goes back to the drug..trapped, yet for menkind the way out is Christ but not so for the devil.
Why the devil is even existing after sin was found in him (see ezek 28:13-15, and also that the king of tyrus- king of a city of men, didn’t exist in the garden of eden, wasn’t covered in precious stones nor an anointed cherub etc etc so the verses go from talking of the man/king to talk of the devil), why didn’t God just get rid of him? I dunno, maybe something to do with the other angels.
Question, does God not love all that He created? So showing teaching proving whatever to the other angels might have a play in things too.
There are plenty of mysteries about the why’s of things while other things -like the need for Christ-are clear.
God makes sure that whatever the devil does works to the good plan and purpose of God.

          • micheal carlisle

“he’s not without restraints” that just it he (he being the satan you and the world believe in) doesn’t need do anything, just sit back and do nothing and he makes God and the bible a liar. Which would put God on the same playing field as Satan. An addict would do anything to procure his next fix. Just as satan would do anything to …be like the most High. Isaiah 14:13-14 (KJV). He is not set on rebellion but on being like God.

The children of God are warned of satan throughout the bible. He is taught even today of being cunning and deceitful and is prophesied to deceive the WHOLE world, 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world:… Rev 12:9 (KJV), and if you can’t answer said question then you don’t know who satan is. And if you don’t know who satan is then how do you know that you aren’t being deceived?

If the truth were being told then the prophecy of Matt. 24:14 would have happened years ago.

The answers to the mysteries are given in the bible, 10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Luke 8:10 (KJV). It takes sincerity and the spirit to learn the truth that is HIDDEN the bible.

          • carson

set on ‘being like the Most HIgh”..IS rebellion, so not set on rebellion but set on being like God is the very rebellion, and he cannot repent of it or go back to before sin was found in him.

When God say’s deceives the whole none can or are saved? Does whole mean all down to the very last person? Obviously not. Matthew 24:24-if it were possible-, rev 13:8..all will worship him whose names are not written in the Lambs ‘all’ doesn’t mean ALL, it means all whose names are not in the Lambs book of life.
Also what is 1st cor 13:12..we see through a glass darkly, along with 2nd peter 3:16..some things are hard to understand and some wrestle out some interpretation to their own destruction.

Also in rev 12 we see the devil has a time limit ..if he just sat there and did would he ‘get his next fix’ so to speak.

          • Okay I’ll say the same thing only different. Satan aspires to be God like through his rebellion. And his time limit only strengthens my argument. All your satan has to do is just sit back and do nothing until time is up and “walah!” God is a liar, the prophecies of the bible can’t be trusted, and God loses his sovereignty. So tell me why is it that your satan doesn’t do this?

            And yes the bible verse says “the whole world”;
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23 (KJV),
5 He that OVERCOMETH, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life,… Rev 3:5 (KJV)
praise be to God for his mercy that by his grace he has given us a way to salvation through the shedding of the blood of Jesus which gave us the teachings of the new testament; 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. Heb 9:16 (KJV).

It is no surprise that if you don’t know who satan is you would also not be able to discern between the elect and the adoption.
Eph. 1:4-5(KJV) and 1 Peter 1:2(KJV) known before hand, can be counted. The 144,000: the “elect” the shepherds of the adoption.
Gal. 4:9(KJV) look at the rephrasing.
And Rev. 7:9 and 14(KJV) the adoption, no man could number because it’s not known yet.
Rom. 8:23 the elect waiting for the adoption to come to a full.

            The bible is written throughout with parables, proverbs, and psalms it is the symbolism in these that tell the truth. The two following verses are major keys used to unlock that hidden truth along with sincerity that allows the spirit to teach;
4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 1 Tim 1:4 (KJV)
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8 (KJV)

          • darlene

Isn’t he (satan) doing just that? After all he has made you and most of the world believe that God doesn’t even exist. What better lie than that? With that lie satan is winning souls (for now)…just think of all the souls he gets to take with him to the lake of fire. But any way it has all been written. God knows the outcome. What was it all for? That is left for God to say. Satan is un- redeemable.
So are you just interested in religion or maybe you once believed but something changed your mind? I just find it interesting that you quote the bible so well. (out of context but that is just how you choose to look at it.), but your knowledge of scripture makes me think you have studied it. Hope you change your mind. Time is at hand. Everyone must choose a side. Neutral is the side of satan, and yes everyone must participate.

          • No satan isn’t doing just that. Take a look around you. This nation (U.S.A.) is falling apart (too many atrocities to mention)( And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Matt 24:12 (KJV)). The poor nations are suffering more today than ever before because of the “super powers”. No satan is not just sitting back and doing nothing, and yes everything is as it should be, all is going according to the prophecies of the bible (KJV). The problem being is that with the satan being taught (a self-aware being) the question “Why didn’t/doesn’t/wouldn’t Satan read the bible the way that the world does and just NOT do what is predicted of him and make God and the bible a liar?” cannot be answered. Which shows that the many (for many be called, but few chosen. Matt 20:16 (KJV)) don’t know who satan is and therefore are easily deceived. And it is a safe bet that if “the many” don’t know who satan is, they also don’t know who Jesus is (And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matt 7:23 (KJV)).

        • darlene

The devil has to have permission from God before he can do anything. So he can’t just change things.

          • so he got permission before he rebelled?

suggestion; read the whole conversation before jumping in and you might see the rebuttal before you type.

            and i repeat;
“All your satan has to do is just sit back and do nothing until time is up and “walah!” God is a liar, the prophecies of the bible can’t be trusted, and God loses his sovereignty. So tell me why is it that your satan doesn’t do this?”

    The problem is compounding.
With the advent of Obamacare, the common average people no longer have the money to spend that they had before Obamacare.
We are not talking a small group of people here but an enormous number of people effected by Obamacare’s rules.
When you have an enormous change in the net money available to people then they no longer have the money to spend.
This simple fact goes beyond the economic experts.
The problem compounds itself as more and more people find themselves without money to work with.
The increased penalties for not having insurance also contributes.
In the past, this was offset by wage increases and inflation. Now people have a set wage and it seldom goes up. So the wage increases are not there to offset anything.
Continue that with lost jobs. You have a depression in the making.

  • Lazarovic

This is about wages. No one but the wealthiest 5 percent has any money to spend. What the hell did you think would happen? You shipped our jobs overseas to save on wages, but now, the business world is discovering, no one has any money to buy anything! Free trade deals are a death sentence to our middle and working class, so that the wealthy don’t have to pay those pesky Americans a decent wage.

  • Michael McDermott

Under Capitalism, one can’t imagine having an increase in market demand of all products like we have had just under increased world population dynamics and seeing a total failure of Marketing to answer market trends. The 1% running away with all the wealth in the system has stopped the movement of supply and demand. Government must tax massive wealth to redistribute it and keep it in production. What results is false prices and miss use of resources.War isn’t going to fix this, nor watching T.V. news with young ladies showing us their legs and boobs. real issues are clean water…. Ag run off and more Population worldwide. Food, where is it going to come from? Not the Seas, nearly empty, on land fires and drought will put an end to population growth. Better Run from the Cities now and buy some isolated land?

Dude, don’t be ignorant. Things are always changing. Doesn’t it make sense the elite will do whatever it takes to keep the party going, keep the status quo going? Why are you here if you have all the answers? Fool.

  • iris

Yes, I think their “higher” plan for decades, has been to tank the whole world’s economy to the point of introducing a cashless society replete with a physical mark to purportedly keep us safe and ensure that funds are available, but without which, no one will be able to buy or sell. Socialism sounds just and good to desperate people, especially the young, and the terrorism going on around the planet, fomented mainly by the U.S. since the 1930’s, along with the man made idea of man made global warming, are fear factors involved. They know most people don’t question, don’t read between the lines and don’t look up. God is in control, and He is allowing all of these “puppet masters” to have their little hour of power, but it won’t last much longer. His plans will succeed, and for the good of all who will trust in Him. We were made for Him, however, and not the other way around.
