‘Aren’t You Supposed To Be Hiding In A Hole And Waiting For The End Of The World?’

Is it useless to try to save America? Since I announced that I would be running for a seat in Congress, I have had a number of people become extremely upset with me. According to these people, I am misleading the public by suggesting that we should fight for the future of our country, and that instead I should be telling people to bunker down and prepare for the worst. Of course my wife and I are definitely big preppers, and nothing about my long-term outlook for this nation has changed one bit. But I have always said that when things get really bad that instead of digging a hole and hiding, we would be running to the front lines to storm the gates of hell instead. We believe that the greatest chapters of our lives are still ahead of us, and we also believe that the greatest hour for the people of God collectively will be during the darkest times that humanity has ever faced.

I have had others get extremely upset with me because I am supposedly choosing “politics” instead of “ministry”.

But why can’t “politics” be a “ministry”?

After I initially felt called to do this, I started to reflect on why the Lord may possibly want me in Washington. And as I was thinking about this, the Lord started to show me a clear pattern in the Scriptures. Before nations fell, the Lord would send men of God to the capital city of a nation to warn of impending judgment.

For example, the Lord sent Elijah, Elisha, Amos, Hosea and others to Samaria to warn the northern kingdom of Israel about what would happen if they didn’t turn back to God. Of course Israel did not choose to turn back to God, and they were eventually conquered by Assyria. To me, one of the most sobering passages in the entire Old Testament is 2 Kings 17:13-18. This is how that passage reads in the Modern English Version

13 But the Lord warned Israel and Judah by all the prophets and by all the seers, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.”

14 But they would not listen. They stiffened their necks, like the neck of their fathers, who did not believe in the Lord their God. 15 They rejected His statutes and His covenant that He had made with their fathers and the decrees He had given them. They followed idols, and became idolaters, and followed the surrounding nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them, that they should not do like them.

16 They forsook all the commandments of the Lord their God, made themselves cast images (two calves), made an Asherah pole, worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. 17 They caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, used divination and omens, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord to anger Him.

18 Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them from His presence. None remained except the tribe of Judah.

Of course we saw the same pattern with the southern kingdom of Judah. God sent warning after warning to them, and Jeremiah sounded the alarm up until the very day that the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem. In fact, in Jeremiah 25:8-11 he even warned the people in advance how long the Babylonian captivity would be

8 Therefore thus says the Lord of Hosts: Because you have not obeyed My words, 9 I will send and take all the families of the north, says the Lord, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations; I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations. 10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of laughter and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the candle. 11 This whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

We also see this same pattern in the story of Jonah. God sent Jonah to the capital city of Assyria (Nineveh) to warn them to turn from their wicked ways.

And even though Jonah didn’t even really want to be there, the people of Nineveh actually heeded his message and chose to repent. The following is how Jonah 3:5-10 reads in the Modern English Version

5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast. And everyone, great and small, put on sackcloth.

6 When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself in sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 Then he made a proclamation in Nineveh:

“By decree of the king and his nobles:

No man or animal, no herd or flock, shall taste anything. They shall not eat or drink water. 8 Both man and animals shall cover themselves with sackcloth and cry mightily to God. All shall turn from their evil ways and from the violence that is in their hands. 9 Who knows? God may relent and change His mind. He may turn from His fierce anger, so that we will not perish.”

10 When God saw their actions, that they turned from their evil ways, He changed His mind about the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.

If America really is in deep trouble, doesn’t it make sense that God would follow the same pattern?

Why can’t God send men and women to our capital city to warn us that we need to change our ways?

I don’t know if that is what God ultimately intends for me to do. As I explain in my new book “Living A Life That Really Matters”, the Lord works in very mysterious ways and my wife and I always just try to be obedient to Him in all things.

Yes, if America stays on this current path very, very challenging times are coming.

But the appropriate response is not to dig a hole and try to hide. Rather, we should be doing all that we can to share the truth with a lost world that desperately needs it.

Michael Snyder is a Republican candidate for Congress in Idaho’s First Congressional District, and you can learn how you can get involved in the campaign on his official website. His new book entitled “Living A Life That Really Matters” is available in paperback and for the Kindle on Amazon.com.

You completely mis-read the Charlottesville meaning of the ‘Unite the Right’. it was basically ‘White Lives Matter’. Better wise up if you want to lead. White folks tired of being denigrated and blamed for the ills of the world. Take white European Christians off the face of the planet and what do you have? A third- world planet.
Re: your election to Congress…will you publicly disavow the Congressional perks like healthcare, pension, etc? Otherwise, to me and the masses, you are just another lying sycophant. Tell us what we want to hear and then, once elected, do something else like the rest of the whores in Washington. Just Like Trump.
Show us you are something different. You are a lawyer (like the rest of those whores in DC), draw up a contract for your voters that is legally binding spelling out how you will receive no more benefits from tax dollars than the rest of us.

“But why can’t “politics” be a “ministry”?

Perhaps because the Bible shows all the kingdoms of the Earth are controlled by the devil.
So you are going to Washington and gunna change it when the Bible says Satan is in charge!

  • Paul Patriot

Old testament examples of how God dealt with Israel are often compared to how God is dealing with America, implying that USA is another Israel.

In the NT, we see no “politics as ministry” rather we see the church changing the world spiritually, and not trying to change the political environment which at time of the birth of the church, was pretty draconian.

This world system is govererned by the “god of this world” and no politician is going to permanently change anything.

Does that mean we should not “storm the gates of hell”?

No, but that storming should be focused on preaching the weaving Gospel, that all men repent of their sin and be saved through the ” only name given given to men in which they can be saved” the Name of Jesus, to be made righteous before God and become children of God.

Michael, you know time is short, and the global convergence seems to be moving rapidly, shouldn’t our time be spent trying to see more names in the Lambs Book Of Life?

Rather than trying to change a corrupt system that is beyond broken, and one that has been in the grasp and momentum of the globalist system for quite some time now, I encourage you to fast and pray more about this path you are stepping into, as you wrote:

“I don’t know if that is what God ultimately intends for me to do.”

This sounds to me that you are not 100% sure about this, ans perhaps mixing your desire to see the current destructive path that this nation is on, changed in some way, ( me too, I am from MA & CT and have seen liberty get destroyed and many other things), with doing what God has gifted you with.

I pray you go down the correct path, one that God has led you down, and one that is for the kingdom sake and Gods Glory.

“But the Lord warned Israel and Judah by all the prophets and by all the seers”

So since you’re not a prophet you’re going to warn Washington D.C. as a seer?

Many people have misconceptions about what constitutes “a prophet”. There are two kinds of prophets in scripture. The one most think of is one who “forth tells” the future, the “seer”.

However the second, which most don”t understand, is referred to by Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:1-4 where he writes, “Purse love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but ESPECIALLY that you may prophesy…But the one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation. The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but the one who prophesies edifies the church [God’s assembly].”

Those who are sought by the dragon in Revelation 12 are prophets. They are testifying of of Yeshua, by their conduct: “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their TESTIMONY, and they did not love their life unto death. (Rev. 12:11)

“And I [John] fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, ‘Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Yeshua; worship God. For the testimony of Yeshua is the SPIRIT of prophesy.'”

When we are obedient to the Word of God before others, whether we speak or not, we are testifying, prophesying, of God’s righteousness, His Son, before a lost and dying world. He is our wisdom, righteousness, and peace.

Michael, Ps. 1. May He cause you to fulfill His plan for your lives, and it’s not dependent on winning or losing. Time is short! “Commit your way unto the LORD and He shall direct thy paths.”

By all means carry out your convictions, Michael. The world needs devote Christians in our political arenas. The reason why Congress makes unprincipled decisions and have lack of concern for the betterment of the country is that we have unprincipled people in those positions. We as Christians need to shine our lights in all that we do, including before lost politicians and constituents.

Regarding the doomsday sayers, the Lord prophesied:

Matthew 24:6-8 (NHEB): You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.

We don’t know whether the Lord’s coming is very soon or it will be 1,000 years from now. There have been periods of earthquake activity, famines and war since Christ’s time on earth. Every generation for the past 2,000 years thought that it was their generation that would mark the Lord’s coming. So, it may be the case in our generation.

We have seen so called prophets proclaiming dates of the Lord’s return, when even Christ stated that the event was of the Eternal Father’s timing, indicating that they were wrong.

Most disturbing are many of the local churches who are into everything but motivating their congregations into loving their neighbors, and reaching them for Christ. This includes the giving of moneys to a popular secular national government in the Middle East. Governments do not propagate the Gospel, people do. Also disturbing is the prosperity Gospel, which is a false Gospel.

    Even Jesus said,

Luke 12:15 (NHEB) He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from all covetousness, for a man’s life does not consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”

Best way to prepare for any upcoming difficulties (i.e., “tribulation”) is simply continuing doing what Jesus wants His people to do. If one is not involved, they need to be. It won’t be through a survivalist bunker, unless God specifically directs that individual to do so.

Matthew 24:45-46 – “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.”

That food is the Word of God (1 Peter 2:2).

If a brother in Christ, has a strong leading. Then that is the end of it. The Lord has a plan for all of us. It just is not the same plan. If Michael is meant to go to D.C. he will win. If not, then there was perhaps a lesson he was meant to learn. The Lord has a reason, for everything he does. For me the leading, was to come out from amongst them. Let us not be so judgemental, to one another.

I commend you for your desire to run & try to change things, we definitely need more God fearing leaders in Congress..if that is what you feel God is calling you to do then do so…our future as a nation is ultimately in Gods hands, I pray we turn back & repent as a nation before its too late..I feel we may have passed the point of no return. time will only tell
