10 Signs That Russia Is Preparing To Fight (And Win) A Nuclear War With The United States

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Russian Submarine Launching A Nuclear Missile - Public DomainIf the United States and Russia fought a nuclear war, who would win?  You might be surprised by the answer.  Under the Obama administration, the rapidly aging U.S. strategic nuclear arsenal has been shrinking.  Meanwhile, the Russians have been developing an entirely new generation of bombers, submarines and missiles that have the capability of delivering an absolutely crippling first strike.  At this point, most Americans consider a full-scale nuclear war to be inconceivable.  But in Russia attitudes are completely different.  To the Russians, the United States is enemy number one these days and the Russians are feverishly preparing for a potential military showdown.  Of course the Russians don’t actually want to have to resort to nuclear war.  Such an event would be an unspeakable horror for the entire globe.  But if one does happen, the Russians want to make sure that they are the ones that come out on top.

A lot of Americans are still operating under the faulty assumption that the doctrine of “mutually assured destruction” still applies.  The thinking was that both sides had so many nuclear missiles that a launch by one side would guarantee the destruction of both parties.

But since that time, so much has changed.

For one, the U.S. nuclear arsenal is far, far smaller than it was back then.  Back in 1967, the U.S. military possessed more than 31,000 strategic nuclear warheads.  Now, we only have 1,642 deployed, and that number is scheduled to be further reduced to about 1,500.

Sadly, reducing the size of our nuclear arsenal by close to 95 percent is not enough for anti-nuke crusader Barack Obama.  He has spoken of unilaterally reducing the size of our strategic nuclear arsenal down to just 300 warheads.

During this same time period, the Russians have been developing some very impressive stealth delivery systems which have the capability of hitting targets inside the United States within just minutes of an order being issued.  This is particularly true of their submarine-launched missiles.  The newest Russian subs have the ability to approach our coastlines without us even knowing that they are there.  If the Russians came to the conclusion that war with the United States was unavoidable, an overwhelming first strike using submarine-based missiles could potentially take out nearly our entire arsenal before we even knew what hit us.  And if the Russians have an anti-ballistic missile system that can intercept the limited number of rockets that we can launch in return, they may be able to escape relatively unscathed.

In order for “mutually assured destruction” to work, we have to see the Russian missiles coming and have enough time to order a launch of our own.  Thank to emerging technologies, the balance of power has fundamentally shifted.  The old way of thinking simply does not apply anymore and the Russians understand this.

The following are 10 signs that Russia is preparing to fight (and win) a nuclear war with the United States…

#1 Russia is spending an enormous amount of money to develop the PAK DA Strategic Bomber.  Not a lot is known about this stealth bomber at this time.  The following summary of what we do know comes from an Australian news source

Russia’s answer to the B-2 “Spirit”, this next-generation strategic bomber is intended to be almost invisible to radar and capable of carrying a huge array of conventional and nuclear missiles. Little else is known other than its expected service date: 2025.

#2 Russian nuclear bombers have been regularly buzzing areas in northern Europe and along the coast of Alaska.  The Russians appear to be brazenly testing NATO defenses.  Here is just one recent example

Russian strategic nuclear bombers carried out air defense zone incursions near Alaska and across Northern Europe this week in the latest nuclear saber rattling by Moscow.

Six Russian aircraft, including two Bear H nuclear bombers, two MiG-31 fighter jets and two IL-78 refueling tankers were intercepted by F-22 fighters on Wednesday west and north of Alaska in air defense identification zones, said Navy Capt. Jeff A. Davis, a spokesman for the U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command. Two other Bears were intercepted by Canadian jets on Thursday.

#3 Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu says that Russian nuclear bombers will now conduct regular patrols “in the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific, as well as the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico“.

#4 Russia is constructing an anti-ballistic missile system which will supposedly be superior to anything that the U.S. currently has

Currently under development, the S-500 missile is intended to be capable of intercepting intercontinental ballistic missiles when combined with radar input from the likes of the new A-100 AWACS aircraft. It is supposed to be able to track and shoot at up to 10 supersonic targets at any one time at heights of up to 40km.

#5 Russia recently successfully test launched a new submarine-based intercontinental ballistic missile

A Russian Northern Fleet nuclear submarine on Wednesday fired a test intercontinental missile from the Barents Sea to the country’s far eastern Kura Range on the Kamchatka Peninsula, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

“Within the frameworks of testing the reliability of marine strategic nuclear forces, the Tula [nuclear submarine] launched a Sineva intercontinental ballistic missile from the Barents Sea to the Kura Range [in Kamchatka],” the statement says.

The RSM-54 intercontinental ballistic missile Sineva (NATO code name SS-N-23 Skiff) is part of the D-9RM launch system.

The D-9RM launch system equipped with RSM-54 missiles was put into service in 1986. The production of the RSM-54 was halted in 1996 but after three years, the Russian government resumed the production of a modernized version of the missile.

#6 Russia already possesses super silent nuclear attack submarines that are virtually undetectable when submerged.  In a previous article, I discussed how the U.S. Navy refers to these virtually undetectable subs as “black holes“…

Did you know that Russia is building submarines that are so quiet that the U.S. military cannot detect them? These “black hole” submarines can freely approach the coastlines of the United States without fear of being detected whenever they want. In fact, a “nuclear-powered attack submarine armed with long-range cruise missiles” sailed around in the Gulf of Mexico for several weeks without being detected back in 2012. And now Russia is launching a new class of subs that have “advanced stealth technology”. The U.S. Navy openly acknowledges that they cannot track these subs when they are submerged. That means that the Russians are able to sail right up to our coastlines and launch nukes whenever they want.

#7 Russian media outlets are reporting that 60 percent of all Russian nuclear missiles will have radar-evading capability by 2016

Russia’s Defense Ministry plans to complete the rearmament of Strategic Missile Forces within six years. “By 2016, the share of new missile systems will reach nearly 60%, and by 2021 their share will increase to 98%. At the same time the troop and weapon command systems, combat equipment will be qualitatively improved, first of all — their capabilities for the suppression of antimissile defense will be built up,” Defense Ministry’s RVSN spokesman Colonel Igor Yegorov told ITAR-TASS on Friday.

#8 For the first time ever, Russia has more strategic nuclear warheads deployed than the United States does

For the first time, Russia, which is in the midst of a major strategic nuclear modernization, has more deployed nuclear warheads than the United States, according to the latest numbers released by the State Department.

Russia now has 1,643 warheads deployed on intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles and heavy bombers. The United States has 1,642, said the fact sheet released Wednesday.

The warhead count for the Russians, based the Sept. 1 report required under the 2010 New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), shows an increase of 131 warheads since the last declaration on March 1. The U.S. reported a warhead increase of 57 during the same period. It is not clear why the warhead numbers increased.

#9 Russia has a massive advantage over the United States and NATO when it comes to tactical nuclear weapons

As for tactical nuclear weapons, the superiority of modern-day Russia over NATO is even stronger.

The Americans are well aware of this. They were convinced before that Russia would never rise again. Now it’s too late.

To date, NATO countries have only 260 tactical nuclear weapons in the ETO. The United States has 200 bombs with a total capacity of 18 megatons. They are located on six air bases in Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey. France has 60 more atomic bombs. That is pretty much it. Russia, according to conservative estimates, has 5,000 pieces of different classes of TNW – from Iskander warheads to torpedo, aerial and artillery warheads! The US has 300 tactical B-61 bombs on its own territory, but this does not change the situation against the backdrop of such imbalance.

#10 Russian President Vladimir Putin has initiated a huge “weapons modernization program” that is projected to cost the equivalent of 540 billion dollars

Putin said Russia’s weapons modernization program for 2016-2025 should focus on building a new array of offensive weapons to provide a “guaranteed nuclear deterrent;” re-arming strategic and long-range aviation; creating an aerospace defense system and developing high-precision conventional weapons.

He would not elaborate on prospective weapons, but he and other officials have repeatedly boasted about new Russian nuclear missiles’ capability to penetrate any prospective missile shield.

The Kremlin has bolstered defense spending in the past few years under an ambitious weapons modernization program that runs through 2020 and costs the equivalent of $540 billion.

Meanwhile, the Chinese have been investing heavily in this kind of technology as well.

In fact, just the other day the Chinese successfully tested a new submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missile…

China’s JL-2 second-generation intercontinental-range submarine-launched ballistic missile, which has the ability to reach the continental USA, is already believed to be deployable by the People’s Liberation Army, reports Huanqiu, the Chinese-language website of the nationalistic Global Times tabloid.

The Julang-2 — literally “Giant Wave 2″ — has reached a preliminary level of proficiency, according to the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission in its report to US Congress on Nov. 20.

Most Americans do not believe that any of this is a concern whatsoever.

Most Americans just assume that a full-scale nuclear war is virtually impossible.

But the truth is that a successful first strike against the United States is more possible today than it ever has been before.

Hopefully the American people will wake up to this reality before it is too late.

The answer to your question at the beginning of the article is NO ONE WINS.
Even if they totally defeat us and launch these weapons against us, the prevailing winds will make the entire atmosphere radioactive for generations to come.
Why they would do something this stupid amazes me. I have always had a respect for our enemies abroad before this.
If I were China, I would be looking over my shoulder at Russia.
Even if they take us out, those two would be contending with one another after the fact because China will starve without the world wide retail business they have accumulated over the last 44 years.
That is not just America. That is Canada, Europe, Australia, and many more places have huge inventories of Chinese goods ready for market in their countries.
Killing us is like killing the goose that laid the golden eggs. We are the customers. And to deal a death blow to the best customer on the planet? That does not even make any sense.
The man in charge of Russia needs to sit back and think things out a little better. Because what is happening will bankrupt Russia if it continues.
What would make a lot more sense would be to use that technology to produce a commerce in competition with the Chinese.
No matter what happens, the Chinese and the Russians will go against one another in the next generation. Right now they act like buddy-buddy. But the time isn’t far off where they will be the two major powers on the planet. That is if they don’t do something incredibly stupid in the meantime.

You see … The Power of contamination from nuclear weapons too overdone Hollywood. United States – a snake that devours itself. Today everything is working against you. Have you had a chance to stop the government. But you missed it. Russian did not forget and do not forgive.

Approximately 5.000 years ago, according to documents in India, there was a Nuclear War between India and China. The result was the “gods” all got up and left in their ships. How do we know it was nuclear? The description of horror as the living flesh melted from a huge number of army people of the time. It was an exact description of radiation poisoning.
Who were the “gods” of that time? I do not really know. They are described as demons by some.
Yes, it is possible for the Earth to recover from a nuclear war. But what a cost.
You are right about one thing. We are going into an era of automation that will completely change everything economically on the entire Earth.
        Not just one country, everything.
It almost happened in the 30s. The major change back then was the invention of the assembly line as a means of production.
I have just went through 40 years of changes in my trade.

      • DJohn1

The infrastructure of America has moved abroad. It is no longer completely anywhere.
Most of the retail is handled by China.
A lot of labor is subcontracted to India.
The problem with bombing America would be the mobile missiles floating around everywhere outside the United States.
It is a problem they also ran into in the 70s.
As to whether any country would survive, I doubt it would happen.
Robert Heinlein over 30 years ago wrote a book called the Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
He described back then the most serious weapons threat. You might wish to read it if it is still available.

the force of the blasts can bump the earth out of orbit if enough are in one area at once, like if they blow up the U.S. mainland. the sun’s gravity would then pull earth in a slow spiral and eventually swallow it up!!!!!

i wonder what happens to the other places like the afterlife stuff if earth is consumed. all my studying shows they seem to be tied to the earth—just in different speeded dimensions near the surface (einstein explained how materials can pass through each other which is likely how much of it works). (also watch national geographic explorer: the biggest and smallest)

the reason why earth could be rotating on its axis is because a past civilization could have had a nuke(s) explode (or any reason)
i sure hope this is the worst that happens in WW3

How do they know If the Russians really have an “invisible” submarine ??? I smell a rat, at least on this point. Sounds very similar to that nutcase Rhumsfeld when he spent hundreds of millions of taxpayer money looking for the Russians secret sub and when he couldn’t find it used that as proof it existed!

    • Jim

The US Trident submarines are undetectable as well, but surely the Russians know about them since they have to surface at some point and there are devices nowadays which take pictures….sorry but you’re not thinking.

Truth be known, as evidenced by this Russian interviewed recently, the people of Russia are aware of the manipulations by the Federal Reserve and the NWO while people in places like the USA and Sweden just eat up the propaganda from Washington DC: I would say that once more and more Americans become aware then that will be the point that war will no longer be something that people like Obama and McCain can count on getting support for.

  • bert

of course the russians are going to nuke ameriKa. that’s what the ptb wants as joel skousen has been writing for years. the problem is ameriKans are being kept in the dark about this and with no preparation for the attack there’s going to be a lot of MISERY whilst the repubs and dems waltz off to their bunkers. you’ve been had ameriKans thanks to your extreme ignorance and abrogation of your duty as citizens of a once free nation.

Most people of this nation are morally bankrupt. We are a sick society. As a result of people’s ignorance and stupidity, we became the evil empire. I don’t believe there is any hope for a majority of this country as much as I hate to say that. While there are still good people here, those people seem to be a dying breed. Maybe, we will be better off getting nuked off of the planet. It would be one way to eliminate a lot of the scum.

      • Jim

However bad you think this country is, Russia is worse. There are many more law-abiding people in the West, especially the US, than there are in Russia. In Russia, prison culture is endemic – morality is non-existent. Russia has far higher alcoholism rates, abortion rates, murder rates, suicide rates than the US.

The criminality starts at the top – as Russians say, рыба гниёт с головы – the fish rots from the head. Putin is the most ruthless criminal in Russia and he is willing to kill his own people if necessary to acquire or retain power, since power means the ability to siphon huge sums from the wealth belonging to the Russian people.

        • Jim

          Dude, put down the pipe.

          • Jim

Learn a little before tossing out insults.

          • Jim

No insult, you just need to embrace reality.

          • Jim

Ты чего-нибудь знаешь про Раше? У меня несколько сомнений об этом. Говори меньше, умнее будет.

          • Jim

Putin has an 80% approval rating from the people of Russia. You’re obviously not one of them. You can’t show 80% approval of another leader anywhere in the world. How can the man be this “evil vulture” you and the US establishment make him out to be, and yet his people approve of him so strongly? Because he is a champion of the people, and he fights their battles, not the jewish oligarchs (most of whom fled to Israel after 2000 anyway).

          • Jim

Right around 50% of Russians have positive feelings about Stalin. Can you imagine – an utterly amoral psychopath and paranoic with a gangster mentality whose extremely brutal 30-year rule as absolute ruler of the Soviet Union featured countless atrocities, including purges, expulsions, forced displacements, imprisonment in labor camps, manufactured famines, torture and good old-fashioned acts of mass murder and massacres that the complete toll of the bloodshed caused by that man will likely never be known – that one has a 50% approval rating in Russia.

Putin’s 80% approval rating does not indicate anything at all about the quality of the man himself.

To understand this astonishing phenomenon, one must have more than a superficial understand of the Russian people.

Valentina Matvienko, Mayor of St. Petersburg and close ally of Putin said it nicely. In response to the question, “Could Russia be a parliamentary republic without a president?” Matvienko replied, “No, that wouldn’t work for us. The Russian mentality prefers a master, a tsar.”

In addition, Putin absolutely controls the media in Russia. I watched the Russian news tonight and Putin is presented as a hero, solving problems, tonight he was playing hockey. It is Putin adoration on Russian news. The West is presented in the most horrific terms, and none of the problems inside Russia are addressed. There is only good news about Russia, horrible accusations, lies, distortions and nonsense presented about the outside world, especially Ukraine, and Putin is presented for adoration.

It is the same night after night. Anyone could have an 80% approval rating with such a “reality construction” system at his disposal.

          • Jim

In the same way, the US press has a hundred stories a day about Putin and Russia and all the horrible things he’s doing. They have paid stooges trolling the forums on any internet site which has mostly unmoderated commenting going on, and the message is always the same. Even the idiotic names these fools use – Putlero, Putinet- are obviously generated by the same Hasbara artist. You come here trying the same tactics, albeit a little more long-winded, and think you’re impressing someone? I don’t believe the tales people want to spread without more than just some US propaganda artist’s latest spiel.

          • Jim

In other words, I shouldn’t confuse you with facts, or my own personal experience, because your mind is already made up? Do you think you’re behaving rationally? Do you?

          • Jim

It might be different if you were an actual person. As it is, you’re just another anonymous internet clown parroting the mainstream media line. Even if you are for real, the powers that be have destroyed all credibility for people who just happen to agree with them. Don’t blame me, I think all of you are full of it. It’s much safer that way. Believe what you can see, not what some anonymous stooge posts on the internet.

          • Jim

I’m not anonymous – I am me. You are you. And you are dumb.

          • Jim

            You’re an idiot.

          • Jim

You should try to think of some facts to support your position, because otherwise you just sound like a pathetic loser…well, I suppose even if you tried to support your position, nothing would change about that.

If you don’t know what’s going on in Ukraine, you should just shut up. Or go there and die and end your miserable existence.

  • jsmith

It’s almost as if the world central banksters want to start another arms race, eh? Call me cynical, but it sure looks like a repeat of the cold war to get armaments companies going again. And you would think Russia of all countries would learn from the past when the Soviet union was bankrupted by trying to match U.S. defense spending, and of course where are we going to get the money? By borrowing it from China! Oh,the irony!

    • Robert Pollard

I think they want the US to be too weak to defend themselves. I’ve seen many articles referring to the various ways they are weakening the US and in the end the total or almost total destruction of the US and it’s population.
Remember, they only need ~5% of the population to survive as they do have needs and they need someone to wipe their fannies for them still.

  • Bible Thumper

In these dark times one must look to the Bible for true comfort. And if you’re an American, leave that country. There’s a reason why America isn’t mentioned in Bible prophecy yet Russia and China are. Think about it.

    • kfilly

I was born here. I will die here. I will do my part to defend against tyranny.

      • El Cid

To late, tyranny is already here and the USA is now the USSA.
I will fight to protect my home but not Sodom and Gomorrah.

      • PPTA

I agree, I was born here, served here, worked here as a electrician, raised my family here, and will die here. I will still defend my country, but I agree with El Cid below, we do resemble Sodom and Gomorrah.

      • TheAZCowBoy

Oh, but we have met the enemy – and he is US!!!!!

    • Jim

That’s a pretty unimpressive argument from silence. You are not personally mentioned in the Bible either. Does that mean you don’t exist? So why should the absence of mention of America mean anything at all?

      • PPTA

Because the United States is not significant in the end times. I don’t talk about or mention my great grandfather either. he is gone, he was here, but he is gone now.

        • Jim

You don’t know that the United States is not significant in the end times.

          • PPTA

The United States is loosing its credibility now fairly fast. Obama has really done a number on Americans and the United States. our Military strength, way down, our moral in the military, way down, have we as a nation kept promises to our vets? Nope, have we as a nation kept promises to our allies, Nope. Have we as a nation helped the people in the Mid-East, even though we had won the war in Iraq, nope. Have we as a nation helped American working people? Nope Have we as a nation helped American minorities? Nope Well we did give them more welfare, food stamps and free cell phones. Jobs, security in their homes, their neighborhoods, Nope.. Did we as Americans, get a good health Care program that works? Nope. And the list goes on, and on and on. Republicans, they are no better. They are not going to anything about the illegal amnesty executive order. Nothing even though it goes against the constitution. Boehner is a joke. Why he doesn’t switch parties is beyond me. All those Rinos should simply switch parties. Our wonderful country has been betrayed..

The Romans wrote the good book. Same type of people who live now to control always have. Very few are aware of how deep our American Dream is entrenched in misconception. Jesus was real, the Essenes definitely existed but Christ said much more than what is in the good book. Were all sons and daughters of God/Creator/Universe. Weve always been our own Gods and Devils. This is what the lord thy God with all your heart (So you quit loving yourselves so much). If we didnt put ourselves first, just quit trying to be winners all the damned time, maybe, just maybe, we wouldnt be in situations where we were killing our own kind especially on a scale so irreversibly destructive. Sad…this world was brought into existence through unconditional love, but those who wander about it seem to act in opposition and resistance to all around them. I hear so much scripture but never the verse which all religions share. “Treat others as you would your self” I pray to the God of all hope and human faith, who is all and everything, to you all, that we find our inner strength in unity. Heaven isnt a place you have to wait for, Hell definitely doesnt have to be either….obviously.

      • Arizona

SEE JIM,he is mentioned,IF you had read the BIBLE you would know that ,IT also mentions people like you too,you might want to question your standing with the LORD, cause your leaving this world soon………

    • PPTA

Bible Thumper, you are right, i the end, America is not mentioned. In Ezekiel, chapter 39, verse 6, And I will send a fire on Magog and among them that dwell in the isles: and they shall know I am the Lord. We are one of those isles, translated out from Latin or Greek, (Continents)

    • PPTA

I have mentioned that many times. America will not be there. I do not talk about my great grandfather, he is not here, same with my grandfather and Dad. America is now , (my opinion), sliding fast into third world status, and a dictatorship. Prophecy indicates Israel will stand alone. it appears it is almost alone now with all the stuff coming out of Europe that is Anti Semitic, and the way our Muslim and Muslim Brotherhood government is treating Israel. And have you noticed, many allies are pulling back from us because of the Muslim Brotherhood and Obama. However that is in foreign news, not American News.

      • TheAZCowBoy

How do you treat a bunch of self annoited low life ‘baby killers’ who’s lives are based on racism and bigotry and the ‘fairy tales’ their mothers read to them when they were just tiny baby vipers.
Even the Jewish Ethiopians are treated like dirt in Israel. The are asked to sign an agreement to never ‘procreate’ and their ‘Welcome to Israel alyiah flights’ include a fruit basket containing a years worth of contraceptive pills in them – and coupons for ‘more’ free ones!.
Yassar, the ancient Hebrews that translated the Holy Scriptures from the Greek were probably very much like todays (slick) Jews on Wall Street and the Jewish banksters with their ‘Usuary shennigans brought over from the old dayze in Kahzaria to the high-tech Mortgage-Wraps and Derivitive ‘scams’ of the new millennium!

        • PPTA

Who are the racist baby killers? The Muslims that live in Israel, also fight for Israel in the IDF, they can and do vote, The Ethiopian Jews, I know of them. In fact Moses wife was Ethiopian. You can look that up if you want. Where do you get all this information from? Hamas? the Palestinians? Yassar Arafat? Is that who you are referring to? And Kahazaria Shorter the Author? Who still tweets on Twitter? Derivative Calculator, are you referring to that? Your second paragraph simply does not make any sense.

  • JJ

OK, so even if they strike us first with 500+ nukes and we aren’t even able to get one launched at them, they still lose in the long run. The blasts will create a nasty nuclear winter over the entire Northern hemisphere. Russia sits far above the equator and is already very cold. A nuclear winter would make their whole country completely uninhabitable and they would all likely freeze to death or starve in a few short years. I suppose they don’t think about such things.

  • Kent Harris

All the people will know it—
Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria—

God said after 9/11 that America would face judgement.

    Israel(America) who say with pride
    and arrogance of heart,
10 “The bricks have fallen down,
    but we will rebuild with dressed stone;
the fig trees have been felled,
but we will replace them with cedars.”

11 But the Lord has strengthened Rezin’s foes against them
and has spurred their enemies on.
12 Arameans(Russians) from the east and Philistines(Chinese) from the west
have devoured Israel(America) with open mouth.
Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away,
    his hand is still upraised.
13 But the people have not returned to him who struck them,
nor have they sought the Lord Almighty.

17 Therefore the Lord will take no pleasure in the young men,
nor will he pity the fatherless and widows,
for everyone is ungodly and wicked,
    every mouth speaks folly.
Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away,
    his hand is still upraised.
    18 Surely wickedness burns like a fire;
19 By the wrath of the Lord Almighty the land will be scorched(nuked) and the people will be fuel for the fire.

    • Don

You are correct, how do I contact you ? Few understand what you are stating.

    • Jim

Where did you learn hermeneutics, from the back of a cereal box? You can’t equate Israel with America, Arameans with Russia and Philistines with Chinese. That is utterly ridiculous.

      • Kent Harris

I am stating similarities between Israel and America. If you feel that what I have stated is incorrect then I will promptly remove my comment. Your objections need to be based on facts and you must state why America is not similar to Israel as in regards to its attitude. Russia and China both feel that the U.S. poses the biggest threat to world peace, if this were not the case they would not be increasing the size and advancement of their military.

        • Jim

My objections are based on the principles of sound hermeneutics. It is simply untenable to read prophecy in such a way. You can’t substitute China for the Philistines – there is nothing whatsoever in the text or the context that provides warrant for that. The same goes for all three eisegetical substitutions you made. Simply untenable.

          • Kent Harris

Biblical semantics when discussing a verse or a chapter in many cases is multifacet. My supposition is that God conveys in many cases dual meanings. Take for example ‘Word’ which has several connotations – Christ, God’s Word, or God. There is a historical context which is where I am basing my view on and that just as Israel has turned from God, we as a nation likewise have turned from God. Our country’s Founding Fathers were men who followed Christ and as a nation we sought His Providence but now we no longer acknowledge Him and by rejecting Him we lose His Blessings. The Isaiah prophecy which you may feel I have digressed from still holds meaning in that the Bible is eternal and that God never changes. His views of Israel, the U.S. and the world as a whole is that you have really two options The Way or the rejection of thereof.

          • Jim

If you intend to perform exegesis instead of eisegesis, it is necessary for there to be something in the text or the context which provides sufficient warrant for an interpretation.

If there is nothing in the text or context which warrants a given interpretation then that interpretation comes from your imagination and not from Scripture.

In your case, there is nothing whatsoever in that passage, the immediate context or the overall context of Scripture that can be used as a basis for equating the Philistines with the Chinese, or Israel with America.

Therefore, your interpretation is purely a figment of your imagination and has no authority or value other than to express what is in your imagination.

To put it bluntly, you are engaging in speculation which is not the way to properly handle the Word of God.

          • Kent Harris

We see the Bible differently. To say it is my imagination and not to state why this scripture is not a reference to America is to leave it hanging in the air. Please state who was God speaking to after 9/11 when the Isaiah 9:10 was recited 3 times by our leaders.

          • Jim

That passage is not a reference to America because there is nothing in the passage itself, the local context, the book, or the rest of Scripture which allows such an interpretation.

Suppose someone came along and said that that passage is not about America but about Canada or Australia, and that the Philistines is not a reference to China but to India, etc.

What would you do to defend your view against theirs? There isn’t anything that could be used to support your viewpoint against the other one since neither is based on what the Bible actually says, but only on what you want it to say.

If you can show me where the Bible says that the Philistines represent the Chinese, you can make your point. Otherwise, there is no reason for anyone to accept it.

Historically, Rezin was King Rezin of Syria who ruled from Damascus during the 8th century BC.

That prophecy was fulfilled long ago and what justification is there to seek for another fulfillment?

          • Kent Harris

Another way to look at this is whether our country is following in the footsteps of Israel.

Dual prophecy concerning Temple, the Second Temple being destroyed by the Romans and Christ being crucified. Both of which came to pass. Continueing with the prophecy Christ rose again on the third day and the yet to be fulfilled the rebuilding of the Third Temple.

God makes proclamations even today. The Isaiah 9 prophecy has nothing to do with other countries for the simple fact that 9/11 was no ordinary event in human history but was directed toward this country. America is acting like Israel in being defiant toward God. When something that monumental occurs one should take note and see if there is any relations to what occured with Israel and what is occuring with the U.S.

Like I said before, prophecy has a duel meaning and when you read the Bible there is typically more than just one point in time. God will use prophecy to warn and to judge a nation.

Please continue to discuss this topic because it really interest me to know what other people think.

          • Jim

America is not singled-out in any sense in Scripture as was Israel. Israel was chosen from out of the world as a people unto Himself. America cannot be equated with Israel in that sense. (see Deut 7:6f)

The blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon this country (such as the Great Awakening and Second Great Awakening) also fell upon England and Scotland. But none of those countries, nor all taken together cannot stand in the place of Israel.

That is, Israel cannot be a type of America because Israel stood in a covenant relation with the Lord and America does not.

There may be object lessons from prophecy for the United States, I have no problem with that. And given the greatness of the blessing that fell upon this nation, it is not unreasonable to draw some applicational parallels.

But to go further, as you have done in making Philistines stand for China, just because both come from the East is untenable.

How do you know that NOW is the time of fulfillment for this prophecy? Why couldn’t it have applied to the British Empire of the 19th century, or to some empire which has not yet been founded?

There is no grounding to your interpretation in Scripture. If we are going to start going beyond what is written (see 1 Corinthians 4:6), then there is no telling what sort of outrageous idea will be next.

A whole section of my personal library is on hermeneutics. If you are interested, I recommend _The Hermeneutical Spiral_ by Grant Osborne as a good book on Biblical hermeneutics. :)

funny, Southern slaveholders used the Bible to support their position on slavery

          • Kent Harris

            Hey GV,
Your position lacks one critical point and that is no one owns slaves. If you are going to argue a point please make sure it is current and not something that happened over a 150 years ago. Gays seem to be the most arrogant and prideful of any group and in their vitrol hatred of the Bible. Honestly, I don’t understand why gays even care what the Bible says because it does not pertain to them. The Bible is what Christians adhere to in their faith and it does not apply to any other group. That being said, gays do not have the right to enforce their views upon us. Gays may act out their perversions in their privacy of their homes but when you use the legal system to indoctrinate children that is where we will come to blows over.

          • Gay Veteran

hypocrite, accuse gays of being arrogant and then tell me what arguments I can and cannot make.

“… gays do not have the right to enforce their views upon us. Gays may act out their perversions in their privacy of their homes but when you use the legal system to indoctrinate children that is where we will come to blows over.”

awwwwwww, YOU can no longer use the power of the state to impose your religion on others, now you’re crying like a little baby.
perversions? I’ll leave that you to you pharisees

This article sounds like it was written by a war-mongering neo-conservative who brought us our war of aggression against Iraq.
The fact is that we spend more money on “defense” than the rest of the world combined.
The fact is that it was the U.S. that first left the ABM Treaty.
And it is a fact that use of a fraction of the world’s nuclear arsenal will result in a nuclear winter that would probably kill off mankind.

    • Scott

The Russians had been violating the ABM treaty since the 1970’s. And nuclear winter has always been exaggerated. Still, the Russians have a large underground shelter system that would allow them to survive for a long period of time until the effects subsided.

      • Gay Veteran

“The Russians had been violating the ABM treaty since the 1970’s. And nuclear winter has always been exaggerated….”

        PROOF please

    • El Pollo de Oro

Gay Veteran: And when the BRA has surplus weapons from its neocon misadventures, they can be used for things like tossing a grenade in a baby’s crib in Georgia.

      • Gay Veteran

of course the police should have grenades, after all the police are an occupying army and we are all potential enemy combatants

        • El Pollo de Oro

Especially babies in a crib. Any good militarized policía in The Banana Republic of America knows that a toddler is either a likely meth dealer or an al-Qaeda member (or both). And bedridden 92-year-old women like Kathryn Johnston in Atlanta must be treated as enemy combatants as well.

…..then chalked up as collateral damage in the war against getting high.

How much blood has been spilled trying to rid the world of a harmless weed that can be grow anywhere and will never be eradicated?

Our problem is we have so much corruption and waste that the greater dollar spending number doesn’t mean much. Think F 35 and many other boondoggles. The Russians believe in old school land a plane on an unimproved runway, we have to send guys out to pick up the smallest of debris so our “high tech” planes don’t fail.

  • PPTA

I started posting regarding Russia, and a new Russian Military coming, in 1998 on the old Comcast Forum. People laughed at me. Well look where we are.I started posting real concern regarding China, at the same time. Again people laughed and made fun of me. They said we were China’s biggest trade partner and they would do nothing to provoke a war with us. Look where we are. Thank you President Obama, Thanks to people like the creep who sold Obama Care through brain Washing the American Voter, Thank you you to all the stupid a** American liberals. Baby boomers, (General Statement. They all are not like this), the generation that was greedy, not patriotic, (Look at college days verses the Vietnam War, look at College professors like Bill Ayers who actually should be in jail, and what criminals like him teach, and we allow it, Look at the Political Correctness we now have, and to H*** with national identity, national security. Look how the Democrats have change so drastically, and the Republicans also. Who represents the working people, the working families, the minorities? Sure isn’t the leadership of these two parties. And who is in charge of these parties? Baby boomers. I know there are some descennt baby boomers. But not enough of them that are descent. Most are greedy, liars, self centered, and will shaft you as quick as they can. Their justification, “If I shafted the guy, BUT I made money, that is good business. I can always get a attorney who will twist the facts.) .And last, we were founded on Christian Principles, not a certain Church. Look at us today. We are being invade by Muslims. The Muslim Brother Hood. Allah, see if you can find his name in the Bible. The Muslims believe in the first five books of the old testament, the books that Moses wrote. First Commandment, “Don’t put other Gods Before Me”. America, you better wake up. We are headed to war with Russia. That is a sure thing. When, soon. Over what? Oil. Israel has more oil and natural gas than OPEC ever had. Who controls the oil, controls the world economy. I strongly urge both Parties, Democrats and Republicans, TAKE BACK YOUR PARTIES. AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF YOU WANT FREEDOM.

    • Gay Veteran

“…We are being invade by Muslims….”

Why do you think its so important to replace Assad? So they can run a pipline from Israel to Europe. Cutting out the Russians. Oh BTW the huge gas deposit off the shore of gaza was taken from the Palestinians. Its all greed and power who cares how many people die. We dont matter they (Lucifarians) want us all dead anyway.

This whole article is a joke.
The neocons and a clueless Administration made a pre-emptive strike on Russia via “regime change” in Ukraine; didn’t work. Then they played the Financial Warfare card, trying to crush the ruble as what we’re playing for is a regime change in Russia. Didn’t work. Just pushed China and Russia closer; and Russia and India; and Russia and Turkey. We’re play the global hegemony game, as soon the USD won’t be the reserve currency and then we’re screwed. So, we’ve speeded things up a bit.
Putin isn’t going to let NATO or the US get Crimea, nor place ABM’s in the Ukraine. That’s the Russian version of the Cuban missile crisis.
Germany is backing away from the sanctions, so are several others of our “partners.”
China is financially backing Russia (do you have any idea of the treaties Russia and China have signed in recent times?)
Putin is playing a masterful chess game, and our Administration is struggling with checkers.
No one needs to launch anything. China and Russia can destroy the US simply by exiting Treasuries; flood the market with sales of $2+T of Treasuries and they crash our economy and financial system.
After reading all of these posts, I would offer a point of view that many should read about and understand the “Great Game” and how it is being played.
For those of you seeking comfort in interpreting religious texts, feel free to do so if that gives you comfort in these challenging times.

I would only offer you understand the “Wolfowitz Doctrine” and it’s goals, since that’s the script the USG has been following via the “Great Game” for many years.

There aren’t any answers there, just motivations for what you see happening, just as any religious text don’t have any answers, just basic teachings on how people should try to live with themselves and others.

Our government follows one, and ignores the other.

Nobody wins nuclear war. People who write this cr***p should have at least once watched older documentaries use of nuclear weapons tests in 50-80ès for limited audience as did I. Whether Russia or US can blow all of their arsenals at home and results will be same. Russia or US will die quickly and the rest of the world will die slowly and painfully.

  • SerbIN

Let me get something straight first. I don’t hate America as a nation, I hate Americas false “democracy” and other stuff. Americans are blinded. While their leaders cause wars and raise terrorist organisations around the globe just so they can justify going to war. America is build on the blood of the innocent. Colonies came and took by force that which is not theirs to take. When the war comes, the world will be by the Russians side. By now Russia has many allies, including China which can launch a full scale attack with soldiers armed with spoons and still win the war. Serbia, Montenegro, Africa, Middle East will also fall in the Russian ranks, since all of them have been terrorized by America for the past century. I am a witness to Americas terrorism when they’ve bombed Serbia in ’99 because Serbia didn’t want to give a part of it’s country and history older than Colombo. I will celebrate the day when the White House is destroyed and America put(in) (see what I did there?) chains. As for American people, I wish them no harm, and hope that the oncoming war will be gentle to them, because non of the Americas actions have been gentle to us when 2000 men, women and children died as a result of America and NATO aggression. We will not forget, and neither will the world. America has many enemies, alot more then you think you know of.
