The state of Arizona is taking a ton of heat for the anti-illegal immigration law that they just passed. Barack Obama is outraged and is directing his administration to look for ways to challenge the law. The government of Mexico has issued a travel advisory for the entire state of Arizona. Latino groups are promising unprecedented turnouts for the upcoming May Day protest marches. There has even been graffiti popping up in Phoenix that is threatening to “burn this racist city” among other things. But you know what? The state of Arizona got it exactly right. This is not about stopping legal immigrants who want to come in the “front door” and pursue the American Dream legally. America will always need that kind of immigration. No, this is about stopping the never-ending wave of serial criminals, gang members, drug dealers and economic parasites that have been endlessly parading unchecked into Arizona. If the federal government was not going to act, then the state of Arizona had to. Now other nearby states are studying Arizona’s new law and are considering implementing similar measures themselves.
To get an idea of how absolutely vicious the backlash has been against this new law in Arizona, just check out the following video….
So what do the American people think about this new law?
Well, one recent Rasmussen Reports poll found that almost two-thirds (64 percent) of voters in Arizona favor the new law.
Not only that, but another new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey found that 60% of American voters nationwide favor an anti-immigration law like Arizona just passed, while just 31% are opposed.
Those are solid majorities.
The truth is that it is not legal immigration that is the problem.
It is unchecked illegal immigration that is the problem.
The frustration level of many of those who live in communities ravaged by illegal immigration has soared into the stratosphere as the U.S. government has sit silently by and has refused to secure the border.
Frosty Woolridge recently quoted one Arizona citizen as saying the following about the illegal immigration crisis in the state of Arizona….
“We’re the kidnapping capital of America. Arizonans fear for their lives daily. Illegals have destroyed our schools, hospitals and communities. They fill our prisons. They kill our cops, ranchers and ordinary citizens. We’re tired of it.”
It is estimated that there are as many as 30 million illegal aliens living inside the United States today. The vast majority of these illegal immigrants pay absolutely no federal or state income taxes. And yet they seem more than eager to take advantage of all of the free social services and benefits offered to them.
But it just isn’t the economic issues that are the problem. The truth is that illegal immigrants are also responsible for a dramatic increase in crime wherever they go as another Frosty Woolridge article pointed out recently….
Examples explode across America: 76 percent dropout rate in Detroit, Michigan high schools. Entrenched poverty. An astounding $35 million in goods shoplifted every day in America, honor killings of women now in America, mosques growing like flies in a barnyard, Muslim shootouts with FBI agents, first call for Sharia Law to be implemented in Detroit, Islamic calls to worship sounding over the once all American city. Another city, Los Angeles slowly returns to Mexican authority, language and culture. Every girl past 15 features a baby and most of those mothers cannot read past the fourth grade or work simple math. The Mexican “18th Street Gang” of 20,000 illegal aliens controls the drug trade in much of LA and police will not venture into their ghettos. MS-13 now in 40 American states. Millions of pounds of trash must be picked up as it is tossed all over LA. Chicago, Miami and Houston feature gangs, drugs and worse—all caused by mass immigration. Phoenix, Arizona features an astounding annual car theft rate of 57,000 vehicles to become the new “Car Theft Capital of the World.”
If your city was the “car theft capital of the world” wouldn’t you want to do something about it too?
But any attempt to do anything at all about illegal immigration is met with a severe backlash by Latino activists. Just consider some of the reactions to the new Arizona law….
*The Mexican government on Tuesday issued a travel alert for Arizona, saying Mexican nationals could face harassment as a result of the state’s new immigration law.
*Latino activists are planning major May Day rallies in more than 70 U.S. cities.
*“We don’t give service to gringos from Arizona” is being painted in white on the rear windows of cabs in Mexico City.
*Protesters are vandalizing sidewalks and buildings in Phoenix with messages such as “burn this racist city”.
But there are some signs that the new law is working. In fact, it is being reported that illegal immigrants are already fleeing the state of Arizona because of the new law.
Unfortunately, Barack Obama seems less than pleased about Arizona’s new anti-illegal immigration law. When he was asked whether his administration might try to challenge the Arizona law in some way, Obama said: “We’re examining it now.”
In fact, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has already publicly said that he is considering a court challenge.
So why is Obama so upset? Well, he has his own idea of what immigration reform should be. He wants to offer all current illegal immigrants amnesty and open up a fast track to citizenship for them?
Why?
Well, 66% of Latinos voted for Obama in the last election.
Considering how badly Obama and the Democrats are doing in the polls right now, they could use all the votes that they can get.
The truth is that the U.S. government could secure the border if they wanted to. For the past 50 years, 35,000 U.S. soldiers have secured the South Korean border and not one single illegal North Korean has ever crossed the border during that time.
During that same time period, tens of millions of illegals have crossed the border between Mexico and the United States.
Isn’t it time that someone started using some common sense?
Fortunately, other states are considering following Arizona’s example.
It is being reported that lawmakers in Texas and in Utah will soon introduce immigration legislation comparable to that recently signed into law in Arizona.
Of course Barack Obama is going to try to do everything he can to make certain that these new laws are invalidated.
But at least Arizona is trying to do the right thing.
