The other day, Barack Obama summoned a group of business and labor leaders to the White House and “challenged” them to come up with some great ideas for creating more jobs inside the United States. Meanwhile, Barack Obama is pushing hard for Congress to approve the new free trade agreement with South Korea. This is yet another bad “free trade agreement” in a long string of bad “free trade agreements” that are absolutely gutting the U.S. economy. The truth is that the United States has become a nation which is constantly consuming more while at the same time producing less and less. The gap between the wealth that this nation produces and the wealth that this nation consumes is becoming absolutely astronomical. But instead of fighting for changes that would keep American jobs in America, Barack Obama has allied himself with the multinational corporations that are making huge profits by outsourcing and offshoring our middle class jobs as part of the new one world economy. Our politicians can give speeches until they are blue in the face about how “wonderful” globalism is, but the truth is that it is taking millions of our jobs away and it is ripping the U.S. middle class to shreds.
For a moment, imagine you go to the store and you see two products. They are roughly equivalent, although one may be a little better than the other. One product costs ten times as much, you are going to have to pay a bunch of extra taxes and fees to purchase it and you are going to have to fill out a ton of paperwork in order to buy it. The other product is dirt cheap and all you have to do is take it up to the register.
So which one are you going to buy?
That is the situation that so many of our multinational corporations are facing today. In the new one world economy, they can choose to hire incredibly expensive American workers, or they can go to the other side of the world and legally hire very motivated workers that will gladly work for slave labor wages.
Do you see why so many jobs are leaving America?
American workers were never told that all of these “free trade agreements” would mean that they would be merged into a global labor pool where they would directly compete for jobs with slave labor on the other side of the world.
But that is exactly what is happening and it is destroying the U.S. middle class.
Talk about the biggest union busting plan of them all!
What is going on up in Wisconsin is nothing compared to what globalism is doing to U.S. workers.
And yet idiot American workers keep voting these same chumps back into office again and again and again.
Take Obama for example. Either the guy is a complete idiot when it comes to trade issues or he is willingly spouting Wall Street propaganda. According to a recent CNN article, Obama actually believed it when an Apple executive told him that they make the iPad overseas because there are not enough “skilled workers” in America….
He said he learned during a meeting with tech executives last week, that a big reason Apple manufactures the iPad overseas is that the United States lacks a workforce of tens of thousands of lower-skilled technicians needed to quickly produce the tablets.
Are you kidding me?
Oh, I suppose it has nothing to do with the fact that they can pay those “technicians” a dollar and a half hour?
What a joke.
But senior White House adviser (actually she pretty much runs the White House) Valerie Jarrett insists that Obama “wants to make sure that the federal government is doing everything that we can to foster the kind of environment where companies want to invest and grow and hire people right here in America.”
So is that why Obama is pushing so hard for this new “free trade” agreement with South Korea?
The Economic Policy Institute has already said that this free trade agreement will cost the U.S. about 159,000 jobs.
After that “free trade” agreement is ratified, there are “free trade” agreements with Colombia and Panama that are ready to roll.
Back in the old days, if the government helped big business, then in turn big business would help U.S. workers by hiring more of them.
But it simply does not work that way anymore. Big business has figured out that it doesn’t really need American workers. Big business can make much bigger profits by hiring a bunch of slave laborers.
Now we are being told that a higher rate of unemployment is “the new normal” for America. We are told that it is okay that there are more than 4 million American workers that have been out of work for more than a year. We are told that it is okay that middle class workers in the United States make less money today than they did back in 1971.
Middle class Americans need to wake up.
I will say it once again – what is going on in Wisconsin right now is meaningless compared to the millions of jobs that are being lost to the new one world economy.
For quite a while, our government “papered over” the structural problems that were growing in our economy, but now it has gotten to a point where there is simply no hiding them anymore.
Back in the old days, if the median duration of unemployment reached 10 weeks that was considered a major national crisis. Right now we have been over 20 weeks for an extended period of time but we are told not to worry….
So where have all the jobs gone?
Well, millions of them have been sent over to China.
Just go into Wal-Mart some time and start picking up products. You will quickly see that the vast majority of them are made outside of the United States. In fact, many people now refer to Wal-Mart as “China-Mart”.
We buy so much more from them than they buy from us that it is hard to even try to describe.
The U.S. trade deficit with China in 2010 was 27 times larger than it was back in 1990.
Yes, you read that correctly.
27 times larger.
Not only that, the United States spends more than 4 dollars on goods and services from China for every one dollar that China spends on goods and services from the United States.
Not exactly “fair and balanced trade”, now is it?
So how does China do this?
China manipulates their currency, they deeply and openly subsidize their domestic industries to help them destroy U.S. competitors, and they have been caught stealing technology and trade secrets from foreign firms over and over and over.
So what do our leaders do about it?
Well, they whine and complain a little bit here and there but that is about it.
Meanwhile, over 42,000 U.S. factories have shut down for good since 2001 and China has become the world’s largest exporter of high technology products.
Ouch.
The U.S. middle class is being totally ripped to shreds by all of this. The U.S. economy now has 10 percent fewer “middle class jobs” than it did just ten years ago even though our population has grown substantially, and half of all American workers now earn $505 or less per week.
All of these politicians that are promoting “free trade” are simply globalists that are facilitating our merger into the one world economy.
If you are an American worker and you vote for a globalist Democrat you are an idiot. If you are an American worker and you vote for a globalist Republican you are an idiot.
Unless something is done, the standard of living of middle class U.S. workers will continue to move down toward the rest of the world. Most of us will continue to find ourselves working harder and harder for less and less.
Once you understand what globalism is doing to the U.S. economy, so many other things start to make sense. What is currently happening to U.S. middle class workers is not that complicated. It is just that nobody seems to have the will to stand up and demand changes.
