East Coast Tsunami: If It Happens, MILLIONS Of Americans Could Die

Tsunami Hazard ZoneCould you imagine what would happen if a tsunami hundreds of feet high slammed into the east coast of the United States at several hundred miles an hour?  Just because it has never happened during any of our lifetimes does not mean that it can’t happen.  In fact, scientists tell us that there is a very good chance that it will happen someday.  And if it does happen, there is a very good chance that the number of dead Americans could be in the millions.  Even though there are “Tsunami Hazard Zone” signs on Florida beaches to remind us of this potential threat, we have built giant cities right along the edge of the water all along the Atlantic coast.  Today, an astounding 39 percent of all Americans live in counties that directly border a shoreline.  The potential damage that a major east coast tsunami could do would be unimaginable.  Remember, those living along the Indian Ocean never expected a tsunami in 2004, and those living in Japan never imagined what would hit them in 2011.  These things do happen, and it might very well happen to us one day. 12 Disasters That Could Bring About The End Of The World As We Know It

Apocalypse - Public DomainOur way of life is far more vulnerable than most people would ever dare to imagine.  A single major catastrophe could fundamentally alter all of our lives at any moment.  But since most people have not experienced such a catastrophe during their entire lifetimes, most people just assume that there will never be one.  This is called “normalcy bias” and it can lull us into a very false sense of complacency. The other day, Michael Hanlon of the Telegraph wrote an article entitled “How will the world end? From ‘demonic’ AI to nuclear war — seven scenarios that could end human race“.  Below, I discuss each of those seven scenarios along with five additional ones that I have added.  We live in a world that is becoming increasingly unstable, and as a society we have become exceedingly dependent on the technology that we have surrounded ourselves with.  If something were to happen which would force us to live like our grandparents and great-grandparents did, most of us would be in a tremendous amount of trouble.  And as our technology has advanced, so has the potential that this technology will be used for war and destruction.  There is great evil in the heart of man, and the potential to hurt others with that evil has never been greater.  And of course there are always other “black swan events” to be concerned about as well.  The following are 12 disasters that could bring about the end of the world as we know it… (Read More...)

Yellowstone Supervolcano Alert: The Most Dangerous Volcano In America Is Roaring To Life

Yellowstone SupervolcanoRight now, the ground underneath Yellowstone National Park is rising at a record rate.  In fact, it is rising at the rate of about three inches per year.  The reason why this is such a concern is because underneath the park sits the Yellowstone supervolcano – the largest volcano in North America.  Scientists tell us that it is inevitable that it will erupt again one day, and when it does the devastation will be almost unimaginable.  A full-blown eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano would dump a 10 foot deep layer of volcanic ash up to 1,000 miles away, and it would render much of the United States uninhabitable.  When most Americans think of Yellowstone, they tend to conjure up images of Yogi Bear and “Old Faithful”, but the truth is that sleeping underneath Yellowstone is a volcanic beast that could destroy our nation in a single day and now that beast is starting to wake up. Are We Entering The Worst Period For Natural Disasters In U.S. History?

Are We Entering The Worst Period For Natural Disasters In U.S. History?Weather patterns are becoming increasingly erratic and the ground under our feet is becoming extremely unstable.  So precisely what in the world is going on here?  Is this the beginning of a trend?  Could it be possible that we are entering the worst period for natural disasters in U.S. history?  The tornado that just hit the town of Moore, Oklahoma is already being called one of the most destructive tornadoes that America has ever seen.  That tornado came almost two years to the day after the deadliest tornado in U.S. history hit Joplin, Missouri.  But of course it is not just tornadoes that seem to be getting more powerful.  Giant sinkholes are appearing at an unprecedented rate,  earthquakes are becoming more frequent and more powerful, 6 of the 10 worst years for wildfires ever recorded in the United States have all come since the year 2000, and the western part of the country is experiencing the worst stretch of drought since the days of the Great Depression.  Is all of this just some sort of a giant coincidence?  If not, what is causing these changes? Why Are So Many Bad Things Happening To America?

Have you ever wondered why things have been going so badly for the United States in recent years?  Our economy is falling apart, we have been plagued with heat, drought and endless natural disasters, our cities are absolutely crumbling, we just keep getting involved in even more wars and Americans are more anxious and more overweight than ever before.  So why are so many bad things happening to America?  Why do we lead the world in so many bad categories?  Why does nothing seem to be going right?  Are we under some kind of a curse?  It is almost as if we have entered a “perfect storm” that just keeps getting worse.  In the old days it would seem like something bad would happen to the United States every once in a while, but now massive problems seem to be hitting us in rapid fire fashion.  At this point, many Americans have “crisis fatigue” because our problems never seem to end.  Each new crisis just seems to overlap with all of the other problems that are still going on.  So why is this happening, and what is our country going to look like if our problems continue to multiply at this rate? Major Earth Changes Coming? Earthquakes Are Becoming Much More Frequent And Much More Powerful

Are earthquakes becoming more frequent and more powerful?  With only two months to go, we are on pace to have more earthquakes of magnitude-5.0 or greater this year than we have had during any other year over the past decade by far.  In fact, as you will see in this article, since the year 2000 there has been a very clear upward trend in the number of major earthquakes.  So is this an indication that major earth changes are coming?  Is our planet becoming increasingly unstable?  We are currently witnessing tremendous political, social and financial upheaval all over the globe.  Every week the economic crisis in the United States and elsewhere seems to get even worse.  So what is going to happen if the shaking of the earth becomes even more intense and major cities all over the planet start getting leveled?  For most of human history we have seriously underestimated the awesome destructive power of natural disasters, and the fact that the number of earthquakes around the world seems to be going up consistently should be a huge wake up call for all of us. Why Are There So Many Natural Disasters In 2011?

So far in 2011, we have seen a record number of tornadoes, unprecedented flooding, rampant earthquakes, disturbing volcanic eruptions and a tsunami in Japan that none of us will ever forget.  So why are there so many natural disasters in 2011?  Our top scientists seem to be at a complete loss to explain what is happening.  It just seems like there is one disaster or emergency after another.  Many Americans are getting “disaster fatigue” as the requests to donate money to various relief efforts never seem to end.  There has never been a time in recent history when we have seen so many natural disasters compressed into such a short period of time.  So exactly what is going on here?  Is something causing all of this or is this all one big coincidence?
