The Shaking In California Is Getting WORSE As Hundreds And Hundreds Of Earthquakes Cause Alarm On The West Coast

Are we getting close to a major seismic event on the west coast?  Within the past several days, we have seen hundreds of earthquakes happen in southern California, there have been large earthquakes offshore near the Cascadia Subduction Zone, and there has been a very alarming swarm of earthquakes at Mt. Hood.  We haven’t seen this much seismic activity along the west coast in quite a long time, and many are concerned that this could be leading up to something really big. (Read More...)

This Isn’t Normal: 20 Earthquakes Of Magnitude 3.0 Or Greater Have Hit California Within The Last 24 Hours

It has been more than 10 days since southern California was hit by the two largest earthquakes that the state has experienced in decades, and yet the shaking refuses to stop.  In fact, now northern California is joining the party.  On Tuesday, San Francisco residents were greatly alarmed when a magnitude 4.3 earthquake rattled buildings all over the region.  Thankfully not a lot of damage was done, but it has been a very long time since California has been hit by so many sizable earthquakes over such an extended period of time.  According to the USGS, there have been 20 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater in the state of California within the last 24 hours.  Of course most of the “experts” are assuring us that all of this seismic activity will soon settle down, but what if they are wrong? The Shaking Won’t Stop: There Have Been More Than 10,000 Earthquakes In California And Nevada In The Last 7 Days

The ground is constantly shaking in southern California right now, and this has many concerned that another large earthquake may be coming.  I have been keeping my eye on Cal Tech’s recent earthquake map, and as I write this article it says that there have been 10,053 earthquakes in California and Nevada over the past 7 days.  I have never seen that number so high, and southern California is being hit by yet another new earthquake every few moments.  Most of the earthquakes are happening out in the Ridgecrest area where we witnessed the magnitude 6.4 earthquake that hit on July 4th and the magnitude 7.1 earthquake that hit on July 5th.  But as you can see from Cal Tech’s map, there has been a tremendous amount of seismic activity along the San Andreas fault as well.  As I discussed the other day, the San Andreas fault is “locked and loaded” and it is way overdue for “the Big One”.  Could it be possible that all of this earthquake activity is leading up to something really big? California Quake Storm: There Have Been 1,217 Earthquakes In The Ridgecrest Area Within The Last 24 Hours

What in the world is happening to southern California?  Could it be possible that all of the shaking that we have seen over the past couple of days is leading up to something even bigger?  I was curious, and so I went to the USGS website and I pulled up a map that is very tightly focused on the Ridgecrest area.  According to that map, there have been 1,217 aftershocks in the Ridgecrest area in the last 24 hours.  By the time you view the map, that number will inevitably have changed.  Normally aftershocks begin to subside after a while, but right now they just keep hitting one after another.  In fact, a rather sizable aftershock rattled Ridgecrest at the same moment when Ridgecrest Police Chief Jed McLaughlin was briefing reporters about the aftershocks(Read More...)

1,000 Earthquakes In 3 Weeks? Oh Yeah, Those Living Near The San Andreas Fault Definitely Have Reason To Be Concerned

In a key seismic zone approximately 40 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, there have been more than 1,000 earthquakes since May 25th.  Needless to say, it would be quite alarming for the entire state of California to experience more than 1,000 significant earthquakes in just 3 weeks, but in this case we are talking about an area that is “less than a square mile” in size.  And what makes this even more concerning is that all of these earthquakes are happening in a location that is very close to the San Andreas Fault.  Could it be possible that the San Andreas Fault is about to wake up in a major way?  I don’t know about you, but if I was living in southern California right now I would find this sort of news to be extremely unsettling(Read More...)

California And Nevada Have Been Hit By 240 Earthquakes Over The Last 24 Hours

The unusual shaking on the west coast continues to intensify. As you can see from this map, 240 earthquakes have struck the states of California and Nevada over the last 24 hours. Yes, the west coast gets hit by quakes every day, but this is definitely an unusually high number. Fortunately, most of the earthquakes have been very small, but a couple of them were greater than magnitude 3.0. The following comes from the Los Angeles Times(Read More...)

California Is Shaken By More Than 80 Earthquakes As Chile Is Hit By The Largest Quake In 12 Years

Very early on Sunday morning, a massive 8.0 magnitude earthquake struck a sparsely populated area of Peru.  As you will see below, it was the largest earthquake to hit Peru in 12 years, and other areas of “the Ring of Fire” experienced unusual shaking afterwards.  Here in the United States, there were dozens of detectable earthquakes in the state of California on Sunday, and a lot of people are concerned about what all of these small earthquakes could mean.  More than 80 percent of the world’s earthquakes happen within the Ring of Fire, and many scientists believe that shaking along one section of the Ring of Fire can put stress on other portions.  Of course we have been told over and over again that California is way overdue for a “Big One”, and we know that it is coming someday.  Let us just hope that it can be delayed for as long as possible. Is It Beginning? 10 Significant Earthquakes Rock The California Coastline As Mount St. Helens Rumbles Back To Life

Scientists tell us that someday the “Big One” will strike California and large portions of the coastline will plunge into the ocean “almost instantly”.  Could it be possible that we are a lot closer to that day than many had anticipated?  Over the past several days, there has been a lot of shaking along the North American portion of the Ring of Fire.  In particular, during a 24 hour period over the weekend one area of the California coastline was hit by 10 earthquakes of at least magnitude 3.0, and this created such a stir that it made the front page of the Drudge Report.  The following comes from a local California newspaper(Read More...)
