According to the Department of Agriculture, if this government shutdown stretches into February there won’t be money for food stamps.  And it certainly looks like this shutdown could last for quite a while, because President Trump is not backing down on his demand for border wall funding, and the Democrats have pledged not to give him a single penny.  So a few weeks from now, approximately 38 million people could be suddenly cut off from the food stamp program.  If that scenario were to unfold, there is no telling what could happen.  After just a few days, government workers are already freaking out about having their paychecks delayed.  If people are getting this restless already, what will things look like when tens of millions of Americans are suddenly cut off from their primary source of food money? Donald Trump Is Going To Have To Shut Down The Government For At Least A Month If He Really Wants Border Wall Funding

President Trump has decided to stand up and fight for funding for the border wall that he has been promising the American people.  And that is probably a very good thing for Trump’s political future, because news that he was going to surrender to the Democrats on border wall funding had already stirred up a tremendous conservative backlash.  Without the enthusiastic support of conservatives, there is no way that Trump can win in 2020, and so he needs to be a man of his word and keep his promises.  But now that he has announced that he is going to fight, he also needs to be prepared to be in this for the long haul.  Chuck Schumer is not going to give in after a few days.  In fact, Democrats in Congress are convinced that a government shutdown could be completely blamed on Trump and would be very good for them politically, and so they have no intention of compromising with Trump.  So if President Trump really wants border wall funding, he is going to have to shut the government down for at least a month, and ultimately it may take even longer than that. How would you feel about Christmas if there were absolutely no gifts at all?  That may sound like a very strange question, but I think that it is a very important one, because the truth is that our biggest holiday of the year by far is all about materialism.  According to ABC News, the average American will shell out $700 for Christmas presents in 2018, and the National Retail Federation is projecting that total Christmas spending will surpass $465,000,000,000.  Only 25 countries on the entire planet have a GDP that is greater than that number.  Ultimately, Christmas is defined by what we give and what we get, but is that actually healthy? New York Times Article Suggests That Human Extinction Would Not Be A Bad Thing Because Climate Change Is Destroying The Planet
