Just when you think that this story can’t get any worse, somehow it does.  It is being reported that the wildfires that we just witnessed in Maui were the deadliest wildfires in the entire history of the United States, and according to Moody’s Analytics they caused somewhere between four and six billion dollars in economic damage.  But if authorities had responded more competently, the outcome could have been much different.  In fact, the fire that ultimately completely destroyed Lahaina could have been controlled if fire crews had not “left the scene even though the fire was still burning”… (Read More...)

It is just one thing after another.  When times were normal in this country, there would be a major disaster every once in a while, but now we have reached a stage where there is literally no pause between them.  Authorities are still trying to assess the damage from the historic wildfires that we just witnessed in Hawaii.  We are being told that they were the deadliest wildfires in the entire history of our country, and now suddenly more wildfires are burning tens of thousands of acres in western portions of the state of Washington.  At the same time, the state of California is bracing for an extremely rare disaster.  According to AccuWeather, the impact that Hilary is going to have on the state “has the potential to be an extraordinary event”… (Read More...)

The more that I dig into this story, the more it smells.  A few days ago, I wrote an article about some of the unanswered questions that many of us had about the fires in Hawaii.  We are now getting answers to some of those questions, and what we are finding out is deeply disturbing.  It appears that so many more lives could have been saved.  Authorities are telling us that more than a hundred people have been killed, but eyewitnesses on the ground are telling us that there are hundreds of dead bodies scattered all over the place.  In the end, the death toll could potentially be in the thousands. Can you imagine calling up a family that has just seen their home burn to the ground and offering to buy their land for below market value?  This is apparently happening in Hawaii right now on a massive scale.  Grieving property owners are being bombarded with calls from very greedy people, and I think that says a lot about the current state of our society.  We literally worship material possessions and financial gain, and the sheer greed that we are witnessing at this moment is absolutely staggering.
