A big thanks to Bill Clinton for passing NAFTA and the sucking sound of all those American jobs going out of the country. Thanks to Clinton also for repealing the Glass Stegall act to allow banking casinos and derivatives to bring down the economy and forcing lenders to lower their lending standards so all poor people can have a house. We probably need to set up tariffs and penalize companies for outsourcing jobs to be somewhat competative in the world, but that has bad consequences for the economy also. No really good solution.

Because we care about the work we do. The company I work at just blew $70,000 for some web development from India. Of course, I suggested that they do weekly code reviews and the young snots here trying to make a name for themselves thought it was foolish. Of course, the head of the project, a native of India, didn't see a need for it either. Well, a few months later and guess what? The code is garbage and is being re-written. All of it. Why? Well, after doing a little digging I found that this "company" was recruiting web developers, and I was lucky enough to find a forum that one of the developers was asking questions on. The guy hadn't even done any java coding before. WTF???

And, we had this supposed "project leader" who was a native of India hire other consultants that shared his heritage. And what I noticed about each one was the fact that their didn't know anything about what we hired them to do. The majority of these people learn on our dime. Just like the project leader they hired here, their credentials are usually false. I took the time to Google one sentence from this guys resume, and what did I find? I found someone else's resume online, and this guy took 75% of his resume verbatim and used it in his. And, the remaining 25% that wasn't, I found on two other resume's online. And here's the best part, one of them was a sample resume.

Lets get this VERY straight. An Atheist is not a God-hater. Repeat: An Atheist is not a God-hater!

Got it folks?

They can't be because they don't accept the premise of a Supreme Being. They are 'without god' NOT 'against god' - look at the logic! Reason my friends. Reason.

I find, as someone who has worked PERSONALLY for Madalyn Murray O'Hair and more recently, Billy Graham (in the early 90's) that this whole god-hater stuff comes from WITHIN the Church ITSELF.

I see it everyday. The hypocrites ... the complete disregard for VIRTUALLY anything Jesus stood for.

I have found that many Atheists actually find the words of Jesus to be quite profound and worth noting ...

Thanks all. PS: Madalyn was a great woman to work for. I cherish every moment I had with her

Where is the anti-war movement???
It just seems to have drifted away ...

America must GET OUT of these 2 wars NOW - pull out every single American (some may decide to stay - that's freewill) and take care of our own country.

What a waste of money and lives.

For what?

Zero my friend. ZERO.
In this case - WE as Americans SUCK.

Just wonder that if this is being thought out as to who will have any discretionary income left to purchase their goods and services.

I hope these Corporations end up eating themselves.

America was made prosperous for a reason and that reason was to bring in the New World Order. Our destiny is to now be brought low and our future is not pretty. There is no reason for the same people who control the finances of the world and who created America's wealth to pay Americans more than the rest of the world. This is not about the corporations; it is about the true money and power controllers behind the corporations.

A better question - why should God bless this nation when we murder our own children by the millions, spread sexual immorality and perversion around the world, preach a false Christian gospel from our biggest churches and "Christian" broadcasters and spread the false gospel around the world, consume tons of mind-altering illegal drugs and generate violent drug gangs all over the world, murder millions of people through our war machine, etc.? The list could go on for pages and I say we have some very bad crops to reap. The best thing Americans can do is to allow this impending misery to draw our hearts back to what really matters. Repent, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and don't spend eternity in a much worse place than America is becoming.

It has always been obvious to me that "free trade" could only result in our standard of living being continually lowered until we became even with these foreign workers. It is like having 2 tanks of water, one very much higher than the other. Connect the two tanks together, and inevitably the water from the greater tank will flow to the lesser tank until the greater tank is brought down to even out with the lesser. The problem is made worse by the idea that their labor populations are so much larger than ours, making their tanks very wide, and ours very narrow. This would result in our tank losing many feet of water just to raise theirs by 1 inch. Quite a sucking going on there. There will be no American recovery in the foreseeable future due to simple supply and demand: Lots of jobs leave America, lots of people out of work. Lots of people out of work means lots of people with no disposable income. No income, no spending, no new production, no need for hiring. Surplus of workers allows companies to cut pay (since you can't leave if there aren't any jobs), or offer lower wages for any jobs available. That means less disposable income=less spending. And with all the surplus workers, companies can now layoff and rehire new people at a lower salary, who will have less disposable income than their predecessors=less spending=no need for new production. And don't believe it when they say "times are tough, we have to lay off". The executives of these companies always seem to rake in tons of dough, even though they "have to have" layoffs. The only hope this country had to save our jobs was in Americans buying Made in USA goods, which most never did. Now a lot of the groceries in the supermarket aren't even Made in USA. It is probably way too late to turn things around now, but I suggest everyone try to start checking every item they buy for Made in USA. If it doesn't say it, don't buy it.

Maybe if all those good Christians had been looking out for their fellow man and finding a way to provide health care for the 40 million Americans who don't have it, we wouldn't have needed this "evil" bill.

Here's an interesting thought about oil.....it's rumored that the US has many 'underground storage facilities' located throughout the southern states......why?? It apparently started during the cold war and has continued ever since - because the US wants to be able to 'use up' the Middle East's oil supply - and when that's all gone, the rest of the world will need to buy crude oil from us..... In theory, this makes sense, but really now - how long is THAT going to take to use up all the oil in the Middle East?? 1 year?? 10,000 years?? How are we to know when??

I think one way of 'kickstarting' this economy is tap the resources we already have.....we don't need to buy crude oil from the Middle East to provide energy for the masses.....use what we have and make gasoline and all it's derivatives affordable for the masses.

Another way is to quit hiding alternative fuel ideas......I remember sometime ago a couple of UofW students created an electric car that recharged itself while you were driving - it was shown on the evening news once and POOF! it disappeared.....never to be heard of again.......why? The 'Big 3' didn't want to lose out on selling gas guzzling vehicles.

There is so much corruptness in our country today - and that truly saddens me. I'm proud to be an American and always will be - even though MY forefathers got the short end of the deal when the first settlers landed at Plymouth - I don't moan and complain about it. And unfortunately, the corruptness will only continue in our government until the day comes that we actually toss out everyone from the House, Senate, and replace the 'puppet' with some new blood that will actually fight for what is right and not base it on money.

The only argument that I can say in regards to why the global corporations should provide jobs for the American people is the fact that when one of these global corporations wreaks their financial standing in the economy, they run to the American government for bailouts. The American people as taxpayers then have to spend what little assets they still have left to save these corporations from their own mistakes. For example, General Motors laid off so many American workers that the tax payers should have told the CEO of that company that they should ask the government and people of such places as Mexico and China to bail them out. This is just one example among many that I could have chosen.

The fact of the matter is that if the American worker is too expensive to keep employed, we are too expensive to bailout these companies who employ foreign workers. When a CEO of a global corporation claims that American workers are too expensive, we should say, "Global corporations are too expensive to save from their own mistakes. Good bye and good luck with your endeavors. You wont be getting a red cent from any of us!"

This will implode way before 2080, 2025, and 2019. Look Social Security will be cut it will be cut now or cut and or stopped when the people (i.e. the Chinese) stop buying our debt. The Democrats and the Republicans helped create this monster and if they think they can just fire up the printing press chew on this.

If anyone in the world who holds dollars even thinks the Fed and or Congress is going to inflate their way out of this, Dollars will be dumped so fast heads in of both parties will spin. What would you do? You’d dump those babies buy gold, silver, condoms, food bullets, anything banks will stop lending, or charge interest rates so high no one could afford a loan. You think the banks are just going to keep that credit card active while the value of money shrinks? Would You?

The whole inflation thing no one has seriously thought though, any implosion will not happen in a vacuum, people will react to save their own Asses. What will happen? I think deflation of hard assets cars, houses, and lawn equipment as people try and get money to survive. Inflation of what I call consumables, food, gas, seeds as these become harder to get, transportation breaks down, strikes.

Just one view what’s yours?

Elise - I suspected that you were probably referring to the nonprisoners but I took the opportunity to point out how the prisoners are being abused. We are becoming a slave labor nation with staggering statistics of the percent of our population that is incarcerated.

Regarding the depleted uranium, cuttingedge.org has an entire section on that topic at http://www.cuttingedge.org/news/depleted-uranium.html. You will be appalled at what we have done to the people over there and to our own soldiers. The first question an Iraqi mother asks after giving birth is "is it normal"? I encourage you to look up information from other sources as well by typing in key words.

I believe that you are Canadian? Hopefully you are far enough away from America when God releases his judgment on us that you don't get singed.

W.C.
The financial reform bill is hardly "harmless". It gives unprecedented power to the Federal Reserve to take over banks, change the management and pay structure or shut them down if they arbitrarily threaten the financial system. All this power given to the people who are responsible for this economic crisis in the first place - The Federal Reserve. A private bank with entangling political connections that has the power to set the most sacred of prices - the price of money or the interest rate. Also this bill exempts the SEC from the Freedom of Information Act among other atrocities.

nob- your attack of the Tea Party is a sign you are scared. The old days where you could get away with slowly eroding our liberties through your social programs is going to end. Enjoy your Social Security while you can sucker.

Greg - Hum, it's not too surprising that they take away credits if you refuse to do work, but at the same time, I can understand that community work IS part of the deal. Only, I would much rather be assigned to cleanup along highways than cleaning oil! These guys are not slaves; they should at least get a bit of a say in what kind of work they get to do. As for courageous, I meant it for those who actually willingly go out there to help, not the prisoners (perhaps I didn't phrase it properly?).

Do you care to elaborate about the uranium situation in Afghanistan? Aside from knowing they are sitting on the biggest unexploited amount in the world, I'm not aware of what you're talking about. And of course, I would NEVER EVER be enrolling into the army, I personally can't stand war and suffering, it's just wrong.

Spencer - I agree with you too. Most people unfortunately do not understand this principle until it has been thoroughly explained to them with numbers. I have the chance to share my life with someone who owns a business and understands these things inside and out. Taxing the rich will just make them run elsewhere, and that is not what America needs. On the contrary, giving out tax breaks to companies who set foot in your country is the best way to lure them over. In Canada, the rich are very taxed (about 50% if you make over 150,000$), BUT the government just LOVES to hand out money to companies and finances them, and sometimes even finances part of the salaries, which keeps them high, and the government gets in back in tax returns. Where I believe they could be taxing, first on lottery gains (in Canada they are not taxed and it's just RIDICULOUS), and also on stock options cash-ins, like those in finance with say a 50k base salary, but then based on profits and performance, they rake in an extra 100k in options and only half of this money being taxed. These are covered up salaries and should be treated as such. They estimate that about 1.25 billion dollars in taxes are lost this way (multiply that by 10 for the US) I'm not sure if this is the case in the US, but this is how it goes north of the border. Is it the same for you guys (I know that lottery is taxable in your case)?

"Well, politicians like that are very few and far between. There are some who will talk about it, but very, very few who will ever do much about it."

Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Peter Schiff, to start with. These people will honestly and bravely act on behalf of The People. These men are true public servants.

My belief is that the decline has gone beyond the point of no return, but these honest politicians are at least helping The People wake up and prepare for what is coming.

Just for clarification, "we" don't just keep spending, it is the small handful of politicians in Washington that keeps spending money "we" don't have. I have to believe that the majority of Americans would not want all of this overspending if they understood what was going on. I sure don't want it. The problem is that most Americans don't have a clue about how our government is SUPPOSED to work, or about what actually is, and has been, going on for years. The people in power have been deceiving, brain-washing, and dumbing down the majority of the American population for years. The media headlines all the gossip about celebrities to sidetrack attention away from the evil that is being perpetrated by our government "officials".

Dogmeat,

I'm quite happy with Scott Brown.

He voted for the fake financial reform bill, which is fine. While there's no financial reform in it, it's generally harmless. So Scotty gets to look like a bipartisan compromiser to his leftist Massachusetts electorate by voting for a meaningless bill.

As for "helping the President," go ask your friends and neighbors, "Hey, what do think about that awesome financial reform? What a win, huh?" As if a complete farce of a bill written by the corrupt Dodd and Frank is going to swing any moderates or turn out any base.

Go Scotty B!!!

As for the overall Tea Party, sure there are some nuts. But mainstream Republicans (Boehner et. al.) are the ones who drove this country into a ditch along with Bush and the Democrats. We need reform so desperately that I'll take a few kooks along with the wave of reformers.

Nationalize the Federal Reserve (they are the real heart of the plot to destroy America). Then all that the country owes to the Fed is then owed to the country, and we the people will vote to forgive that debt. The government is out of debt, and no longer in need of our bogus income tax system. Abolish income taxes and replace it with our old tariff system. Companies use the incentive to build factories overseas in order to make stuff to sell to American consumers. Result: Jobs return to America. Stick together people for what's best for our country or else kiss the American dream goodbye for good.

Those who created this financial nightmare in America knew what they were doing and they will continue the process. We are now undergoing the same thing that major corporations and the banking elite have done to other countries. They create debt in the country and then reduce the people to servitude. Go outside the mainstream media and gain an understanding of what and why all of this is happening. Look at the UN biodiversity map of the US and observe how their plan to depopulate this nation is being carried out. Read what the people in power say – and carry out – regarding plans for depopulating the earth. They create chaos and then bring in their solution to the chaos. Their solution is never in our best interest.

Spencer - excellent post but I don't think you are going to get through to Gary. Perhaps you will help people like Justa Guy who are getting swayed by his incessant moronic ravings.
Elise - regarding Afghanistan, you would be in more trouble over there because we are decimating that area with depleted uranium and it is already wiping out all of Iraq and killing our soldiers that have served in that unjustified genocide we are carrying out over there. As far as the workers on the oil cleanup being courageous, are you aware that the prisoners who refuse to do work detail not only won't get early release credit but they will also get credit erased if they have already accrued good-time?

I understand the initial urge to be angry that those cleaning jobs are going to underpaid jail inmates, but are you really willing to sacrifice 20-30 years of healthy living just to earn a couple bucks? The people working in the cleanup effort are unfortunately doing it at the expense of their life. Look at the Exxon-Valdez spill in Alaska: they are almost ALL DEAD. Age expectancy of that group? 51 years! Personally, you would pay me 500k and I would NOT do it. Seriously. My life is worth more than that. Damn, I would enlist in the war in Afghanistan before shoveling oil! At least my odds would be better...

No one should be desperate enough for money to work under these circumstances. And those who still do well, I lift my hat to you. I would probably not mind as much if most of my life was behind me, but such is not the case. Those who are working there right now are the most courageous bunch of people I can think of.

Cry me a river, they've just posted a 17 billion dollar loss for a single quarter. They are reeling and spending like mad to try to clean this up. Firstly, I'd like to see you post what the ratio of inmates to other workers is....this may very well be a tiny minority, at which point you're totally taking some little issue and blowing it up to feed your agenda of wanting to whine about big business.
Secondly: If there were no threat of silly labor unions jumping in trying to get more money then the people are worth, then I'm sure they'd be a lot more open to hiring more laborers.

Gary - your tax the rich and spread the wealth is foolishness. When Clinton dropped the capital gains tax, capital gains tax revenue increased. When Bush dropped them further, the revenue increased further. When Obama lets those tax cuts expire, tax revenue won't go up, wealth will not be spread around, the government won't get any more money. It's simpletons like you who don't understand how taxation works that have allowed governments like the current one get in power and tax everyone and their dogs. But I guess Obama's belief that it's 'fair' to increase taxes on capital gains is rational enough to decrease government revenues. Moron.

If you think increasing taxes will increase government revenues, think again. If you don't get it, start at both extremes: if the government taxed 0%, or 100%, they'd get 0$ in revenue. In one case because they take nothing, in the other because there would be no incentive to make money. At 99%, they'd likely still get 0, at 98...a tiny tiny bit. So on and so forth. There's a balance in order to maximize revenues and history shows us that it's at around 20-25%. Any higher and the increase in corruption, and money games (shipping out of country, moving to less taxed areas, etc...) actually makes tax income decrease. If you tax all the millionaires a special head tax, they'll just move somewhere that doesn't do that to them.

The end person who gets hurt when you raise taxes, is YOU and the poor...not the wealthy people you so dearly complain about. If you tax oil companies higher, they will pass the added cost onto the product, which means I pay more for fuel at the pump, as well as you, as well as other hard working people. It's that simple.

The more you tax gains from investments, the more of a deterrent it is to save and invest. As the old saying goes, if you want more of something, subsidize it. If you want less of something, tax it. By taxing capital gains, there's less reason to save and invest and try to one day have enough set aside to retire.

Get off your silly socialist pulpit and actually learn something about economics.

Use a search engine and look up topics like "detention camps america", "guillotines america", "boxcar shackles america", "kbr detention camps", etc. You will conclude that there is a LOT of misinformation on the web or that we are all going to be slaves (or dead) in the near future. Gary and Justa, I think we are dealing with a bigger problem than taxes.

Ah yes - IF you are correct about God's 'payback.' Lets just for grins sake - say you are.

Then what we have is a sorry a@@ god that doesn't deserve the light of day given the fact that some THINK He created it all.

A sad god. A bloody revengeful god.

What a poor invention of a MAN.

I am starting to agree with Gary. We are always told "but if you tax the rich, they won't have the money to expand business and create more jobs", blah blah blah. They aren't creating jobs for Americans anyway, only 3rd world workers, either here illegally or abroad. If they won't reinvest some money into the country that made them wealthy in the first place, then the country ought to take from them to sustain the people who made them wealthy. Trickle down economics doesn't work...the people on the bottom are in a severe drought, and only a few drops seep down. It has always been apparent to me that "free trade" would never be a positive thing for the higher paid workers (Americans), only for the lower paid ones. The only time Americans will be able to compete with other workers in the world is (a) if our wages and benefits sink to their level, (b) if their wages/benefits rise to our level (hahaha), or some combination of the 2. Don't believe it when the elite tell you they are for plan B, that they want to help other countries advance. Vote all Democrats and Republicans out of office, replace with Independents, and hope for some real change.

Many brilliant insights here which serve only to expose a political ineptitude that pales in significance to all idealogues I've ever run across. Many, like the socialist sheep they are, want to make this a left/right, Republican/Democrat issue and, by doing so, reveal a deluded agenda that only serves to measure the degree in which political propaganda/window dressing has blinded them to truth. One common trait I see in your kind is the age old bane "don't confuse the issue with facts." The only revelation/truth in your twisted/deluded surrealistic idealogy, beside the fact you have bought into decadent popular political fodder, is that by burying your head in the sand you leave your a$$ a convenient target.
This is not a left/right, Republican/Democrat issue that contaminates our politico. Those distinctions in party or idealogy are merely tools of the trade employed to distort, confuse and pacify those foolish enough to listen.
When, and only when I see sweeping indictments in our congress, on Wall Street and big banking for raping the world economy, will I then begin to believe real "change" is beginning. Until then it is business as usual accompanied by the same hollow rhetoric/window dressing that people have fallen for in the past.

Very good article. What I find amusing is that the ex-CEO of HP is trying to buy the election in CA. The same CEO who shipped hundreds (thousands?) of good paying jobs overseas. If the people of CA are dumb enough to vote for her they deserve what they get.

You also need to add the business in the USA that hire illegals for poverty wages and thus denying an American a job. It is because of these greedy businesses that the border issue is still not resolved. All we pretty much have left are low paying crap service jobs. This article did not even go into the number of UNDEREMPLOYED people making 1/2 or less than they made before this republican great recession began.

I think this article strongly supports my tax the rich and spread the wealth solution. If the top 1% have gotten 66% of the growth them the need to be taxed hard. I love hearing them wine about their bush tax cuts expiring. I feel so bad for them-NOT!

Speaking of religions, let's include it in this list: if you don't believe in it - you don't have a soul, if you do - you don't owe it, as you should follow all these rules and commandments (depending on your beliefs) otherwise you loose it too.

Also, even if you are a dictator and unconditionally OWN everything and everyone in your country, nothing prevents powerful neighbors to invade you, impose democracy and put you to jail for life :)

So, don't focus on all this materialistic stuff, rent or buy if you want to, pay cash or lease, but don't let any of this junk enslave you. Love, travel, make friends, enjoy life! Time is the one and only valuable asset, and it runs out sooner than you think.

Don't worry, be happy! :)

Speaking of religions, let’s include it in this list: if you don’t believe in it – you don’t have a soul, if you do – you don’t owe it, as you should follow all these rules and commandments (depending on your beliefs) otherwise you loose it too.

Also, even if you are a dictator and unconditionally OWN everything and everyone in your country, nothing prevents powerful neighbors to invade you, impose democracy and put you to jail for life

The Elite that we are talking about want to reduce the world population to 500 million from 6 billion. Many people are going to die. The first country I believe this will happen to is the United States. Other countries will follow suit. The FEMA camps everyone says does not exist will be the place to go for those who are left.
You will be checked to see if you are qualified to live as useful or not. If not you will be executed. The Greatest Generation is about to be euthanized.

Retirement? Whats that???
Oh yeah - something we ONCE upon a time could count on.

It will get worse.

A consumption tax is fine. Single payer Health Care must be in place BEFORE this can happen. The Brits have a Health system that works FAIRLY well. I'd even take the Canadian model.

-------

Knock off the abortion analogy - that's really nothing more than a pot shot at NOTHING but your own ignorance. Bliss you you.

Of course, there's the other party -- the people who actually have NO ability to continue paying on their debts, morals aside. When they are threatened with lawsuits and wage garnishments, they do the only thing they can do to survive. They file bankruptcy.
Then the banks who lent them the money they received for free from the federal reserve write off the loss, then the Fed just gives them more money.

I live in Ft. Myers, Florida. After heavy rain ( 10" in 2 days) for 2 days, the next morning I went into the community pool. Within a couple of days I became ill. Headache, dizzy, wanted to vomit, loss of short term memory, & feeling like crap. My stomach is hurting all the time and my back below my shoulder blades feels like a knife is sticking in it. I thought I had the flu. Going into my 7th week of this ailment, I have had blood work, urine test, stool samples etc. So far no results....doctor's couldn't find anything wrong.
QUESTION: Should the doctor's be looking for poison instead of common flu? Does the corexit show up in any blood work, etc? LOOKING FOR ANSWERS...........
