Moral Relativism

John Adams, the second president of the United States, once made the following statement: “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.”  As we promote a return to constitutional principles, perhaps we should also be asking ourselves if the American people are moral enough to uphold and defend our Constitution anymore.  Will a political shift in Washington D.C. solve all of our problems, or should we be looking into our own hearts as well?  As controversial as it may be to question the morality of the American people, the truth is that after all of the shocking things that have transpired in this nation over the last 50 years someone certainly should be willing to ask the hard questions.  It would be hard to deny that moral relativism and moral decay are absolutely rampant in the United States today, and that our moral problems are very much at the heart of many of our problems.

A lot of people don’t like to talk about morality.  In fact, many of my regular readers will probably throw a fit just because I am using the word “morality” in an article.  But you know what?  Without morality a society cannot function.  Our founding fathers knew this.  But somehow we have come to believe that morality and politics can be separated.

The truth is that when you fully take all morality out of politics you end up with a Hitler or a Stalin or a Mao.  You end up with death camps, torture, mass genocide and social chaos.

Unfortunately, Americans can’t really seem to agree on what is “moral” and what is not anymore.  Moral relativism dominates in our society today.  Nobody really knows what the “rules” really are.

But if we all are living by different rules, then how is society going to continue to function?  The truth is that moral relativism simply does not work and our society is starting to find that out.

The list posted below is a perfect example of that.  Many of the things that I think are “morally wrong” will cause outrage among my regular readers.

Because the vast majority of us have become moral relativists.  We just make up right and wrong as we go along.

But hopefully most Americans that will read this list will realize that these 20 signs are indications that something is very, very wrong with the moral compass of this nation….

#1 If you want to get on an airplane in America today, you must either permit gawking airport security officials to view a “movie quality” image of your naked body, or you must allow a TSA goon to touch all of your private areas with the fronts of his (or her) hands.  So far most travelers seem to have accepted these new practices.  This is not a good sign for morality is America.

#2 90 teens at just one Memphis, Tennessee high school are pregnant.  In some areas of the country, it has actually become “trendy” for teenage girls to purposely get themselves pregnant.

#3 One Philadelphia abortionist is being formally charged with killing seven babies that were born alive, but witnesses claim that he actually slaughtered hundreds “of living, breathing newborn children by severing their spinal cords or slitting their necks.”

#4 A new Illuminati-themed television show entitled “House Of Anubis” that is meant to be viewed by our children debuted on the Nickelodeon network in January 2011.

#5 What our government has allowed BP to do to the Gulf of Mexico and to residents along the Gulf coast is absolutely horrific.  Past generations would have never let something like this get brushed under the rug.

#6 Our government continues to brutally torture prisoners and yet very few Americans even seem to care.  The way we have conducted our wars and the way we have treated our prisoners has been a national disgrace.

#7 We are rapidly evolving into a Big Brother police state and yet most Americans are not objecting at all.  Things have gotten so bad that now we are actually giving tickets to 6-year-olds.  According to one recent report, police in Texas have given “1,000 tickets to elementary school children in 10 school districts” over the past six years.

#8 Since 1913, a cabal of international central bankers has used the Federal Reserve to control and manipulate our financial system and yet the American people have never even demanded a full audit of that incredibly corrupt institution.

#9 It is estimated that 89 percent of all pornography is produced inside the United States.  About 11 percent is made in the rest of the world.

#10 The American people are so morally bankrupt at this point that they actually elected Barack Obama (even after so much shocking information came out about him in the media) to be president of the United States.  Sadly, there is still a good chance that a politician as incredibly corrupt as Obama could actually be elected to a second term.

#11 During a stunning television interview with Larry King, former first lady Laura Bush revealed to the world that she flat out lied to the American people the entire time her husband was in office.  In an attempt to help him politically, she covered up the fact that she is actually very much in favor of legalized gay marriage and a woman’s “right” to abortion.

#12 The FDA has announced that the offspring of cloned animals could be in our food supply right now and that there is nothing that they can do about it.

#13 Law enforcement officials estimate that approximately 600,000 Americans and 65,000 Canadians are trading dirty child pictures online.

#14 Last year one North Carolina pastor was shocked after he was dismissed from his chaplain duties for praying in the name of Jesus.

#15 In 2010, U.S. health officials announced that approximately 16 percent of all Americans between the ages of 14 and 49 are infected with genital herpes.  But that is just one of the dozens of sexually-transmitted diseases that are rapidly circulating throughout our society.

#16 The Obama administration is telling us that the field of “synthetic biology” poses only “limited risks” and should not be restricted at all.  It is apparently open season for those scientists that are eager to create whatever kinds of bizarre cross-species hybrids that their imaginations can conjure up.

#17 It is being reported that today a whopping 41% of all New York City pregnancies end in abortion.

#18 In recent years the U.S. government has spent $2.6 million tax dollars to study the drinking habits of Chinese prostitutes and has spent $400,000 tax dollars to pay researchers to cruise six bars in Buenos Aires, Argentina to find out why gay men engage in risky sexual behavior when drunk.

#19 A shocking new survey has found that 54 percent of “evangelical Protestants” believe that people from religions other than Christianity can find salvation without Jesus Christ.

#20 The foods that we eat and the things that we drink are making us all very sick.  The companies that are selling us these things know this and yet they continue to rake in record profits without making any changes.  This is incredibly wicked and it has become a national crisis.  The following is a very short trailer for a new documentary entitled “Food Matters”….

So is there much hope for a change in the moral landscape of America?

Will moral relativism continue to rule?

The American people have become experts at “justifying” whatever it is that they want to do.

Everyone pretty much does whatever is right in his or her own eyes.

But eventually all of this moral relativism is going to shred the fabric of our society.  Hopefully the American people will start to wake up.

So do any of you have any thoughts about all of the moral relativism that is going on in this country?

  • Mr Carpenter

As usual, well said and written. I might have chosen a few different examples, personally, but the points are all well taken – at least by those few of us who make some semblance of an attempt to RETAIN a moral compass. I call myself one of the “two percenters” only with half my tongue in cheek… (sadly)

I have friends in a Mennonite church. They retain 90% of their youth (i.e. 90% of their youth join the church and continue with it through death). It is entirely voluntary – they can go join some wishy-washy church if they wish, instead. 90% join their own church.

These folks don’t have television, and they DO teach their own kids in a small school run at their church – K through 12. Their state scores are amongst the highest, despite the size of their school. Their own people teach the children.

These folks are the sanest people I know; calm, happy, content, even though imperfect just as wel all are. They have the peace that passes all understanding for a good reason; the live their faith in Jesus Christ every day. It is not a ‘sunday addition’ it is their life center.

These folks also do not believe in ‘moral relativism’ – they have a real moral compass, and it is made up of something which has endured for 2000 years – their Christian faith, and the Holy Bible.

None of them live together before marriage, they don’t get pregnant before marriage, there are no veneral diseases (STD’s) amongst them, they don’t have violence in their families, they have no homosexuals and they have stable families with both parents and STABLE children. Wow! What a novel idea?!

When I’m amongst them then go back out amongst the general population, I literally get a sick feeling in my stomach.

It’s like I’m living in sodom and know what’s coming, and wonder when it’s going to hit us all. Because, to be honest, we collectively deserve what’s coming to us.

Those of us who are genuinely Christian are the ones who are mocked, scorned and insulted – often by people who claim to have Christian faith themselves – but especially those who absolutely hate the truth.

Because, despite what the moral relativists “feel” (they don’t really think, you know), there are real “rights” and “wrongs” both in natural law (i.e. in nature and what we might describe as our once cultural ‘conscience’ as a race of human beings), but more importantly, the Creator of all says so. And I believe Him.

    What about you dear readers?

  • Sam

You’re right, morality is pretty much gone. What did the Bible say again? “Woe to those who call right wrong, and wrong right.” Until the PEOPLE are willing to shift back to a Godly society, this country will never be right, it will have nothing but crooks in elected positions, will continue to have “funny money,” until the whole rotten structure collapses.

  • VegasBob

Long ago, American society made a conscious choice to cater to the worst of human instincts. Why do you think America’s 4 biggest non-government growth industries are drugs, gambling, prostitution and pornography?

  • mondobeyondo

There is no longer any morality.
    There is no discipline.
    No ethics, either.

However, there IS plenty of decadence and hedonism, encouraged by Hellywood (Hollyweird?), Lady Gaga, and pop culture in general. Sickening.

“Spare the rod, spoil the child” has been replaced by “You’re abusing your kid! I’m calling the police!” Political correctness is fine, in its own context and boundaries. But it’s now out of control. Vertically challenged chihuahuas demand rights too!

Our most lucrative industries, also happen to be extremely profitable. Drugs, gambling, prostitution and pornography (oh, especially the last two!!) bring in loads of money.

(WARNING!! Biblical type rant coming up!)

Satan knows the weaknesses of the human flesh, and exploits those to the best of his ability. This entire “system of things” is inherently satanic. It takes after their master. Creating nothing of value, and stealing everything of value, and laughing all the while. The devil is the ruler of the “powers of the air” – it’s in the book of Timothy I believe, but I’m not a pastor or Bible scholar.

The Federal Reserve is satanic by nature. No true and loving God would ever conceive or implement such a system. But He does allow it to happen. Why? Because God is showing the world that He rules out of love. Satan rules out of power and lust.

Everything in our present society basically boils down to this. Satan runs the world. But God runs the universe. God will allow Satan to run the world, until He puts His holy foot down, says enough is enough, and puts an end to it. God is in ultimate control. Satan’s in control of the world here and now, only because God allows him to do so. Evil can progress only as far as God allows it to, and no farther. Read the book of Job, chapter 38. Yup, the entire chapter.

So why didn’t God put a stop to it long ago? Well – good grief, Charlie Brown! This is not a religious blog! Go to church, and find the answer…

    **End Biblical religious-type rant**

  • Jack Nichols

Makes you proud to be American…not. The Bible predicted this evil and we are witnessing it transpire right before our eyes. Truth is America is a cesspool of corruption, sickness, and evil. This country will not last much longer, we will self destruct like all other empires bent on satisfaction of carnal needs.

  • Michael

Good luck finding true morality in the buy-bull. Didn’t god (according to the buy-bull, I am an atheist by the way) command Moses to slaughter numerous people in different villages, including women and children?

  • William

America is a nation that self identifies as a
73% Christian nation. I am a Christian. I am sure I could be a better Christian, but I try. I have studied at some expense and time the life of Jesus as it can be studied today (not much real historical data), the establishment of the early Christian churches, and the deveolpment of the Bible. While I, as an imperfect Christian, must be cautious in commenting on others, it is quite clear that there are many, many Christians who do not even know what Christianity means. In other words, phony Christians. How many “Christians” were high-fiving and cheering when the bombs and missiles were falling on Iraq at the beginning of the immoral and illegal war of choice for Israel which was based on LIES???
Have you heard the remarks of Huckabee, supposdly a Christian minister?? I conclude that there are not many real Christians in America today. The organized “Church”, in many cases, is just a big building housing a money oriented operation. I encourage readers to learn the story of the Bible.

  • Xander cross

60# of the divorce rate are Christians who are on their third or fourth marriages. Also, the high STD rate are in bible belt states and cities in the south. Most of all the immoral things going on in this world is being comitted by christians especially in the military. How many Christians killed innocent Iraqi people (including children) during the war? Also, these christian founding fathers owned slaves and as a black male, are counted as 3/4 of a person as stated in your precious constitution. Yes, I oppose the bible because of all the cruel actions in it. I notice that most Christians don’t quote the bad parts of the old testament.

  • Susan

I am really worried about inflation and hyperinflatoin, worried for my wife and kids.

Alot of people think we are doomed, but there are still great ways to make money. Even while the economy is collapsing around us.

I subscribe to the guy from australia and his FFT economic newsletter at that guy has called many big events before they have happend, including the stock market crash in 2008 and the current financial collapse of the US. (currently happening) I found him from a friend last year, and he has some important work. well worth a look.

  • TK

Thanks Mr. Carpenter, and thank you to the author of this article.

I was having a discussion about the moral decline of our “southern churches” just the other day with a close friend who attends church with me.

The topic of Mennonites came up and we both agreed that they are a Holy People, especially when compared to “other types of Christians”.

What we also agreed on is the fact that folks have lost the fear of displeasing the Lord Jesus. For example, when my little girl is helping me in the yard, she wants to help the best she can. She wants to make sure that when I ask for a shovel, that she comes back with a shovel and not a rake. Why? Not out of fear of punishment, but out of a Love for pleasing her father.

Most folks who claim “to be saved” have no intention or desire to please the Lord, and it shows in their everyday attitudes and actions.

For example, I know several folks who claim “to be saved” and they watch shows/movies on TV that God hates. When I mention to them that God doesn’t like for his people to watch morally filthy trash on TV, they become very defensive and angry.

True God fearing Christians are a very small minority in America. That is why our nation is in the shape that it is in.

  • Bill

I hope more people learn to “connect the dots” and see the direct link between our loss of morality and our national problems. We kick God out of our schools and institutions and then act mystified when things go awry. De Tocqueville said that when America ceases to be good, it will cease to be great. I think we’ve arrived at that destination. The hard times ahead will bring us back to our knees, where we belong.

  • xander cross

I see my earlier comment was not posted, very interesting.

  • xander cross

If this is a christian nation, then why is all of the murders are being committed by christians. The problems with a religious society is that those at the top (think vatican) imposes their rules on everyone else that does not agree with them. (think salem witch trials). At the number #2 comment, there is an old saying, “the broker the family, the younger the mother”. Those 90 teenagers that got pregant in Mephis, TN are christians. #15, Most of the STD are created by the millitary and governments (remember they have a millitary lab for this in fort detrick, MD) #13, most of those people that look at child porn believe in a god and are mostly christian and also, your bible supported child sex as well as spoils of war, (read book of numbers chapter 33 verse 10) the story was moses killing all of the midinite children. 17# Since I hear many christians that are against abortion and yet, they don’t discuss what happens to unwanted children that are left at adoption centers and are in the sex traffic business that are controlled by christians (think of certian christian children charties that operates in places as indonesia). The problem with this artice is that it tries to paint religion as the solution when in fact it’s the problem. As Voltaire said, “If you can get people to be in absurd things, you can get them to commit atrocites. I noticed that what Mr. Carpenter did not state of those christian families is that they believe in government and their actions. Also, I not against posting up the ten commandents but I do thin that you should put up the consequences of breaking them and have a judge carry out such consequences, I bet a lot of you will change your minds then about religion.

“Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.” Keep in mind that those “religious and moral people” retained millions in slavery, limited civil rights and political influence to white males with property, and continued the extermination of native Americans while stealing their lands and property – with God’s blessing, as they saw it. Angels there were definitely not.

  • dodiligence

You have finally hit the nail on the head. Very Good. For this very reason this nation is under Gods’ judgment. Because it has turned its back on the Lord. The bible says “when the wicked rule the people mourn” and we wonder why they are ruling? Because we as a nation are a stiff-necked rebellious people. Even in the churches you have all of these feel good messages that are put forth by “pastors” that are greedy wolves in sheeps clothing. They preach for profit, mostly to a people with itching ears that do not want truth. Seed faith messages, prosperity messages and all manner of lies like the rapture. just so they can fleece the flock. Jeremiah 12 says “pastors have made my house desolate”. The bible said that in the last days this is what we would have. They will preach vehemently on tithing but nothing on living a Holy life. Remember if the light that is in you is dark, how great is the darkness. Read the book of Jeremiah it explains all of this. Do people really think God is not going to judge this country. He has to. and we are just seeing the beginning of it.The judgment has already been pronounced for this country as a whole and it will not turn. But individually we can repent and find forgiveness in Jesus Christ the only True GOD. And find grace to help us through the very tumultuous times ahead. Make no mistake they are coming and nothing will stop them. and no, Christians will not escape these things because of the rapture. This is all meant for good to those who truly love God. We are as Gold tried in the fire, to burn off the dross. So we can be blameless and truly Holy. People please study your bibles and verify everything your pastors teach you. You will find that many things are not being tought according to God’s word.

  • mondobeyondo

America USED to be a Christian nation. It is no longer so. We’ve kicked God out of our public schools and institutions, and told Jesus that He can go to…

We’ve told ourselves we are perfectly capable of running ourselves. And by doing so, we are in effect making ourselves our own gods, and worshipping them. Throw out the one God that is the source of all our prosperity and success, and replace it with a new god…the almighty dollar. Worship it! Kneel before the greenback! Your job, food, bills, all depend on it You can’t live without money!! (Wrong-o! Jesus will provide you with all your needs, if you have faith in Him.)

Teenagers, worship the almighty cellphone! Your lives are worthless without an iPhone or Android. Text and chat, and you shall be free! (No, you won’t. Your electronic device simply becomes your new master.)

It is everywhere. Turn on your TV, and watch the commercials. Now worship the new Lexus! Yes, the 2011 model, with GPS, Onstar and Facebook access on the dashboard! Fill its stomach with gasoline, and its heart with Pennzoil or Quaker State, and you will have unparalled adulation. You shall enjoy the open road, which is freedom! Your girlfriend will love your new Lexus, and then she will love you, because a 2003 Kia is not worthy of you. Ye shall then get married and start a family! (Yeah. Until the freaking Lexus breaks down! Then you will have to go to the repair shop, go to the holy temple [BANK!!] and worship more almighty dollars to get it fixed.)

This is EXACTLY what ancient Israel was doing when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with those stone tablets. Money isn’t a golden calf, but it’s close. When you pursue a career, or any endeavor for that matter, solely for the purpose of a higher salary, you are worshiping money, which is a false idol. Don’t worship money.

  • Teenaged girls got themselves pregnant? LMAO. That’s a pretty neat trick! What do they know in Memphis that the rest of the scientific community worldwide doesn’t know? Are they hermaphrodites??

  • gimmeabreak

We all need to vote far right wing Republican!! They’re the ones carping about morality….meanwhile, they slit our financial throats. What a load of crap!

  • A Dodgy Bloke

This is a good article, to many people have a problem with morality, but want to be treated morally. You can’t have both you can’t treat people like dog crap but expect to be treated well by everybody but we have to many people who feel and act that way. The fact of the matter is you can’t teach morals, either you grew up with them or you didn’t.

I’m still reading “Surviving the Economic Collapse” By Fernando Ferfal Aguirre. This is about the Economic Collapse in Argentina in 2000 one of the things he discovered is the rise in violent crime, and how doing “The right thing” could get you hurt and robbed or worst killed. Looking at the rise of people who are narcissistic, hedonistic, selfish, when this thing plunges into the ground how will people react?

  • dodiligence

xander cross: this post is for you. you seem to have a hate on for christians. please note: there is a BIG difference between organized religion and true Christians. The bible says that there will be MANY that say Lord, Lord didn’t we do this in your name and that in your name and he will declare “depart from me I never knew you”. It also states “by there fruit you shall know them”. You seem to lump all “christians” together. Very big mistake. The bible also says it is through THEM that the name of God is blasphemed. Because people see all the hypocrisy in the organized religion and dis annal God altogether. But it truly has nothing to do with God. God is not about religion but what he is after is a relationship with people. As a father to his children. The bible never supports child sex, not sure where you come up with that, but it is not in scripture. Good rule of thumb: if is is not pure, peaceable, and full of good fruits it is not GOD. And as a side note the government we have now and their corruption is definitely not supported by true Christians. Please read my earlier post.

  • The United States Federal Government continues to operate by borrowing money that will never be repaid. In the private sector, this is viewed as stealing. Politicians, however, attempt to redefine morality by asking God to bless America on national television.

  • A Voice From the Dust

I disagree, we are not a morally relativist country. We have a god and it is money.

Atheist commentators, while I understand your love of human reason and sense as what should be driving us, do you think humanity was designed/evolved to live that way? You can disagree, but look back in history. We’ve had several wondrous civilizations and a host of worthwhile accomplishments but find me a single one that did so without a cultural underpinning provided by religion. Men without religion are animals unworthy of mention. Just like today’s society.

We have forsaken God and gone to worship at the false idols of today’s corporations, and all nations that have polluted themselves with these idolatries and whoredoms, America above all others, will soon face His judgment. In a world that thought it could live without consequences we will soon learn how vulnerable we are.

  • Pete

Great article! Thank you for saying it like it really is.

  • It is sad to see our government and people are so polarized and divided. If our politicians put in half as much effort into crossing the divide and addressing real, pertinent issues as they did slinging mud at each other and playing this horrible game of he said, she said, we might actually have an efficient government.

@xander cross, spot on post. Well done.

  • Alicia G.

“you end up with a Hitler or a Stalin or a Mao”…

  • Edgar Mohr

Why are you equating morality with Christianity?

  • RevBryan

Thank you for speaking the truth in this and so many other articles.

  • Joab

Most of the items on this list don’t have much to do with morality. I mean come on, people electing a president you don’t like makes them “immoral”? And trust me, most of those pregnancies that are aborted, we WANT aborted. Those kids would not exactly grow up to be pillars of society, if you know what I mean.

  • Tao Jones

“I have friends in a Mennonite church. They retain 90% of their youth (i.e. 90% of their youth join the church and continue with it through death). It is entirely voluntary – they can go join some wishy-washy church if they wish, instead. 90% join their own church. ”

I grew up in a Mennonite church, and while I will admit that they are ‘stable’ in the sense of staying together as a family unit, this stability should not be confused with psychological health.

These people do not live as they do because they are Christians, or because they are ‘saner’ than the rest of us–they live as they do because they are literally unable to thin k for themselves and have elevated conformity to the status of a religion. They are un-thinking Zombies who have been so isolated by the cult that enslaves them that they are unable to escape. I was one of the lucky ones.

This poster also appears to be unaware of the rampant physical abuse kids suffer at the hands of the emotional cripples; sexual abuse is not at all uncommon. I am personally acquainted with at least three young ladies who were sexually abused.

This Mennonite/Amish myth is just that-mythical.

Just replace the word “Mennonite” with the word “Muslim” and all the arguments this poster makes would remain unchanged. Do you think America would be a better place if we all converted to Islam?

Christianity is a control mechanism, nothing more. The religion cannot withstand two minutes of real scrutiny; another poster has already pointed out the atrocities their “god” commanded them to carry out, specifically the murder of children and the sexual molestation/slavery of young girls.

Wake up. If christianity were such a whiz-bang method for ensuring morality and social order, then HOW DID WE GET HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?

It is time to free ourselves from the mental chains of organized religions and governments that makes tax serfs of us all.

Free your mind! Nothing can change until you actually begin to question this reality. Christianity in general, and Mennonites in particular, is just more of the same control grid Humanity has been groaning under for the last two thousand years.

  • We have many things to blame for the moral decline. I’d say the #1 enemy has been television, a propaganda brainwashing tool that turns normal good people into zombies. Honestly, the television is truly the root of the problem more than people realize. It causes you to tune out of reality, sit back in your living room and not interact with life. It causes you not to think for yourself, to remain passive. This lifestyle in which a recent poll stated the average Americans watch television is 34 hours a week, causes mental illness and depravity. You can’t be an awake person if you bury your head in the television each day.

  • Tao Jones

    Cheryl is right.

Television is the direct means of controlling the masses. No progress at all will be made as long as people refuse to stop watching television. It is an addiction.

The societal rot you see around you is not the result of declining religious control. It is deliberately induced.

You cannot rule over people who are intellectually alive and able to draw inferences. Such people are able to act in their own interests. But if you replace such people with slack-jawed zombies who ingest all their ‘opinions’ from TV….ruling over hollow shells like that is easy.

Think about it: how many of the ‘opinions’ you hear come from the talking heads on the Idiot Box pretending to debate a sub ject? Take abortion as an example; everyone regurgitates the positions they hear on TV. Right to Life! Pro Choice! Woman’s Right To Choose!

The REAL issue is not about abortion, but rather how the federal Government steps out of its Constitutionally mandated bounds and imposes laws about abortion in the first place. Do you imagine THAT debate will ever arise on TV?

These staged debates are simply used to confine the discussion into channels which do not threaten the status quo. It’s all just propaganda, a puppet show that kills your mind and shuts down all independent thinking.

Do you think that’s an accident?

During WW II they used bugs bunny, daffy Duck, and the rest of the loony Toons gang to make propaganda films about the germans and Japanese. These films are next to impossible to see now, being deemed to politically incorrect for current ideologies to bear.

We KNOW they use pop culture to shape opinion and engineer consent.

Are you foolish enough to think they just decided to quit?

    Kill your TV!

  • ecc 12:13 states clearly the whole duty of man
i should like it if you would quit using the hip/ politically correct terms as this terminology such as realativism etc one can guess is being used someplace already to assert literally that”we are all children of GOD” relatives..political correctness comes from governing bodies that are niether correct nor of the government but more affluence, influence wealth that government in some fashion is beholding to. in the scripture mentioned above it states the whole duty of man, how can the govmt. throw the commandments out of the houses of law and court houses of the entire usa and pretend to be looking after the best interests of the largely judeo-christian- biblical populous of the same?????????

  • Debbie

Morality is this country is gone out of the window. After teaching high school students for 33 years I have seen the decline of morality among young people.Guess what?their parents are even worse. After 33 years of teaching I am leaving the profession I love because I can no longer take the immoral behavior and disrespect
displayed by students in my school. It seems America has lost is moral compass. The only thing America loves is money, power, and sex.Wake up America before it is too late!!

  • Jesus wept….

Not because His friend was dead, no, He could more than handle that (!), He wept because of their hardness of heart and their unbelief.

“If My people, who are called by MY NAME will humble themselves and pray, then will I hear from Heaven and I will HEAL THEIR LAND.” From the Holy, inerrant, perfect and true Word of Yahwey.

Not just anyone, but His people, those who are truly born from Above, washed in the Blood of the Lamb, and who are being sanctified by His Holy Spirit. Get down on your knees and cry out to the only One who can save any one or any thing!

    To the doubters,

Admit that you are a sinner. (you fall short of perfection and are prone to error)

Repent (admit it, you know you are one too) and confess your sins to the Holy One. (That will be to God)

Receive His Mercy, Grace and Salvation. (The best gift you’ll ever get!)

Go, and tell others about it! (Then you can endure the taunts, spitting, slanders and outright murder because THEY don’t understand what true LOVE is)

And all of the angels in Heaven rejoice at the salvation of one sinner….

Hallelujah, Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thine Name, THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the KINGDOM, and the POWER (!!!!!) and the Glory, FOREVER AND EVER! AMEN!
…God has all power to save us from these dark times, He is all powerful. We all need to pray the “Lord’s Prayer” everyday and mean it with all our hearts. God can save everyone on the earth if He wants, He can save us from the evil we have immersed ourselves in. HE CAN DO IT! GOD HELP US!

    Oh for cryin’ out loud.

You do not need to be “religous” to have a moral compass. I was raised to be polite, considerate, well mannered, compassionate, and to think about how my may harm others. I was taught this completely outside of any religous teaching, and quite frankly, I think that it is the religous who are often the worst offenders of moral lapses, because hey, they can always ask for forgiveness and be saved. How many so called Christian politicians have been outed as panty-wearing adulters, who then come on television in tears begging for god to forgive them. I have no such out! How many Catholic Preists have abused their power by molesting little boys? How many so-called Christians formerely owned slaves or lynched their black neighbors? I agree, moral “relativism” is a problem, but the solution is not religion, it’s EMPATHY

And until everyone agrees that God,Allah,Buddha,Krishna, and so forth are the same God or the same force, there is going to be more “Moral Relatavism” on the part of all religous extremists who believe that thier god is the only one true God, and that it’s O.K TO OPPRESS, HARM, KILL, AND OTHERWISE MAKE LIFE MISERABLE FOR ANYONE WHO DISAGREES. If that’s not “MORAL RELATIVISM” then I don’t know what is.

    Have a pleasant day.

Also, on a much lighter, less volatile note: it would be super nice if you could edit your comments after posting. I am forever hitting the wrong key on my laptop and accidentally posting stuff before I’m ready.

@Gforce, I must point out that your only examples to support your theory that the religious are the worst offenders of morality are CAUCASIAN MALE AUTHORITY FIGURES. Also, its rather a weak argument on your part if you have to use social trends of (white)MEN from OVER A HUNDRED YEARS AGO!! Take a step back and look how narrowminded your point of view is. White males are not the only religious people out there. I beg your pardon, but DUH!!!You are forgetting the other religious majority which includes the SLAVES THEMSELVES, not to mention WOMEN, the POOR, and the RED AND YELLOW, BLACK, NOT JUST WHITE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD. However, I must agree with you, at the moral failure of our male leaders. Seems to me, its time for everyone to broaden their point of view and get some genuine, humble, compassionate, and wise folks in charge rather, instead of narrow minded fakes.

Moral relativism is absolutely essential if we want to live in a virtuous manner. If anyone is to adequately judge one set of moral beliefs over another, they need to have a rational state of mind. You can only be rational if you have the capacity for reflection. YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOU COULD BE WRONG! It follows, that if you are to justify your moral beliefs you must understand those moral beliefs that are different from your own. Morals and ethics are not legitimate if they are force fed to you from an early age. In order to live a “good” life, change needs to come from within. Rational change from within ONLY comes through understanding others. Isn’t this what “white baby Jesus” was preaching about? No sir, the problem with this country is not moral-relativism. It’s a refusal by people to embrace or understand that which is different. It’s the bible-slinging idiots who seek to FORCE every one to follow one creed dogmatically. Those who claim to defend the views of Christ act as false profits, seeking nothing but ignorant regularity and simplicity. Maybe you should embrace the fact that Bible means Book. Well guess what? Not only one book exists. Millions do, just as millions of individuals exist. Now what are you going to do about it? Are you going to attempt to find that which is similar between every individual and every society? Or are you going to burn everything and everyone who contradicts your very flawed logic?
