All over America today, desperate people are doing desperate things.  As the economy continues to crumble, the American people are starting to become very frustrated.  Millions have lost their homes and millions have lost their jobs.  As hopelessness and despair rise, an increasing number of Americans are turning to crime or are lashing out in unpredictable ways.  Many parts of America are rapidly turning into lawless hellholes.  In some of the areas that have been the hardest hit by the declining economy, police forces are being severely cut back and desperate criminals are being given a lot of freedom to roam.  In fact, in some major cities (such as Oakland, California), the police have announced that there are certain types of crime that they will not even respond to any more.  For a couple of decades, crime had been steadily declining in the United States, but now we are seeing very disturbing reports from all over the nation of desperate people doing desperate things as they scramble to survive or as they vent their frustrations.  If the examples that you are about to read are any indication, then America is headed down a very dark path.


Today, there are a whole lot of young people that feel as though all hope is gone.  Less than 30 percent of all teens had a job this summer.  Only 14 percent of Americans that are 28 or 29 years old are optimistic about their financial futures.

As Gerald Celente always says, when people lose everything that they have, they tend to lose it.

The very fabric of American society is starting to come apart, and it is frightening to even think about what is going to happen if the economy gets even worse.

The following are 20 examples of desperate people doing desperate things in America….

#1 As the price of gold has risen to unprecedented heights, thieves have taken notice.  This summer there has been an epidemic of gold robberies in the city of Los Angeles.  Store owners have felt forced to significantly beef us security.  In fact, store owners have added so much security that at this point “parts of downtown Los Angeles now look more like a militarized zone than a commercial corridor.”

But it is not just Los Angeles that is having a major problem with gold robberies.  The following is a brief excerpt from a recent article by Thomas Watkins….

In Oakland, police say dozens of women have had gold necklaces yanked from their necks on the street. More than 100 similar thefts have been reported in Los Angeles, a rash of robberies is taking place in St. Paul, Minn., and police in Phoenix say muggers chatted up high school girls then ripped their gold necklaces from them.

“We’ve never seen this,” said Oakland police Sgt. Holly Joshi.

#2 When the level of trust in society starts declining significantly, people start becoming very paranoid.  And when people feel constantly threatened, they tend to lash out in unusual ways.  For example, one man wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey actually smuggled a taser into a recent game between the Cowboys and the New York Jets and started zapping people with it.

#3 When people become truly desperate, they also tend to become highly unpredictable.  Just consider what Justino Sanchez Diaz did recently during a family dinner….

Before the family gathered for dinner, Sanchez-Diaz soaked the walls of the dining room in gasoline and set cans of gas under the furniture. And when the 13 members of the family sat down to eat, the man came out with a can of kerosene and splashed it all over everyone, then set them on fire with a blowtorch.

#4 When desperation spreads throughout a society, you literally do not know who you can trust.  Right now identity theft in the United States is at epidemic levels and it is getting worse.  Every time you give someone your information now, there is a chance that your identity could be compromised.  Just consider the following example from the state of Texas….

If you have a mind sick enough to rip off desperately ill people, you probably think to yourself, “Cancer patients — hey, they may die soon, so what’ll they care?”

Houston police say Shantel Moore, 29, apparently had that kind of coldhearted and inhumane logic. The Stafford woman worked for Methodist Hospital in Houston, and cops say she stole identity information from cancer patients and used it to get tons of payday loan money.

#5 When thieves get desperate, they also tend to become very bold.  A reader named Mark left the following comment on one of my recent articles….

Some tweekers drove up last week looking for scrap metal and one was out of their truck and heading to the shop when I came out of the house. It used to be that strangers would not even cross our bridge or get out of their car wondering about what the dogs would do. Times are changing and not for the better.

#6 In some areas of the country, desperate people are not just searching for scrap metal.  As one reader shared recently, there are some parts of the U.S. that are literally being transformed into hellholes by hordes of desperate people….

Here, in the California desert, many vacant houses are being taken over. Fixtures are being ripped out and sold as scrap. Trench latrines are being dug in backyards and water is being pilfered from neighboring pools and hoses. While most of these folks are simply trying to keep a roof over their heads (while they keep their heads down), many are also setting up meth labs and in-door marijuana grows.

I can see the eventual day when the total breakdown of the economy and our society will drive thousands from the cities. A lot of those will be looking for ‘opportunities’.

As sad as it is, if you’re not one of the most unfortunate, it’s time to prepare a defense for your goods, family and self. You are going to be viewed as wealthy, no matter how poor you feel, by someone with nothing left to lose.

Do not rely on police or government authorities. We all saw how that went in New Orleans. Be ready as an individual family unit.

#7 Sadly, family units all over the country are breaking down.  The hearts of parents have become very cold.  Some people are so desperate that they are even trying to sell their own babies.  For example, one grandmother in Florida has been accused of trying to sell her newborn grandson for $75,000.

In another incident, a Vancouver, Washington woman has been charged with trying to sell her newborn baby in front of a Taco Bell.  She was only trying to get somewhere between $500 and $5000 for her baby.

#8 What some parents are doing to their children is absolutely horrifying.  If you have a weak stomach, you may not want to read this one.  In Louisiana recently, a 30-year-old man decapitated his 7-year-old son with a meat cleaver and left his head on the side of the road.  What made this crime even more shocking is the fact that his son was suffering from cerebral palsy and was confined to a wheelchair.  Reportedly the man had gotten “tired of taking care” of the young child.  The following is an excerpt from a Daily Mail report about this horrible crime….

A father has admitted to chopping his son’s head off with a meat cleaver and leaving it in the roadside outside his home so that the child’s mother would see it.

Keep in mind that the father and son had not had a fight.  Rather, the father had just “gotten tired” of taking care of the son.

#9 But it isn’t just parents that are becoming cold-hearted.  In Georgia recently, a 14-year-old teen stabbed his grandmother and his great-grandmother with a sword.  The 77-year-old great grandmother is dead, but it looks like the grandmother is going to be okay.

#10 All over the nation, there are reports of kids killing their parents.  A 21-year-old man in the Chicago area is accused of killing his father with a weed trimmer while his father was sleeping in bed.

#11 In one of the most famous cases of parental murder this year, a 17-year-old Florida teen killed his parents with a hammer, hid their bodies in the master bedroom, and then invited dozens of people over for a massive house party.

Did this kind of stuff happen in America 50 or 60 years ago?

#12 Not all desperate people are committing crimes of violence.  In fact, some desperate Americans are now purposely committing crimes just so that they can be arrested and receive free medical care.

Yes, you read that correctly.  There are 50 million Americans without health insurance and some of them are now purposely breaking the law so that they can go to prison and receive the care that they need.  Just consider the following example from an article in the Gaston Gazette….

James Richard Verone woke up June 9 with a sense of anticipation.

He took a shower.

Ironed his shirt.

Hailed a cab.

Then robbed a bank.

He wasn’t especially nervous. If anything, Verone said he was excited to finally execute his plan to gain access to free medical care.

#13 Millions of other desperate Americans are not lashing out or committing crimes at all.  Instead, they are just quietly suffering.  A reader named Richard recently left a comment in which he shared the desperation that he encountered during a recent trip to the beach….

I was at the beach today, it was almost dark. I watched as a well dressed lady in her 50′s walked onto the public access deck and laid down her things. She looked around to see if she was being observed, felt safe enough to proceed with her shameful task and then she pulled out several small plastic bags. Quickly she went through the trash can and began to remove anything of value, especially aluminum drink cans. That is when I made my way to her. At first she seemed embarrassed, but after I assured her that I sold scrap metal sometimes for extra money, she seemed relieved. She then released a pent up storm of sorrow and hurt as she spoke of her shame and humiliation.

She had recently lost her husband of 32 years and was all alone. She lived in a home she couldn’t afford and was about to lose. Attempts to sell brought only discouragement and despair. “Soon” she said, “I will be homeless.” She said the cans were her insurance, her only means of real survival, since she had already run out of unemployment money. When I tried to offer to help in some way, she suddenly shut me down and refused any help. I told her she wasn’t alone and prayed with her. It certainly made the beach a sad place to be. In the coming months I feel we will all see this same scene played out over and over.

#14 Other Americans have become so desperate that they have given up completely.  The following tragic example is from an article posted on MSN Money….

On the morning she realized her husband and son would learn the family was losing their house, Carlene Balderrama, 53, faxed a note to the mortgage company, then went to the basement and shot herself.

“I hope you’re more compassionate with my husband than you were with me,” she wrote in a suicide note left for the company.

#15 When people get desperate, violence tends to increase.  We are starting to see shocking examples of this all over the country.  For example, at least 42 people were hit by gunfire in New York City over the Labor Day weekend.

Another disturbing thing that we are seeing is the trend toward mob violence.  Previously, I have written about the epidemic of “flash mob” crimes that we are now seeing all over the nation.  When large groups of people start banding together to commit violent crimes, that is a very disturbing sign.

#16 When criminals get desperate, they don’t care who they attack and they will take everything from you that they can.  For example, three young thugs in the Bronx recently beat the living daylights out of a 64-year-old man and took his wallet, his cellphone and even his Bible.

#17 If you are attacked, are you going to call the police?  Are you sure that they can be trusted?  Even police officers are committing desperate acts these days.  Just check out what one police officer in Chicago is charged with doing….

A Chicago Police officer stole $50,000 from his ailing elderly father to pay off his bills and gambling debts and unsuccessfully attempted to swipe his dad’s retirement savings by impersonating him

#18 In the old days, thieves would usually only focus on items of high value.  But these days it seems like there is nothing that they will not steal.  There have been reports coming in from all over America of thieves stealing air conditioners, drain covers, hair extensions and even embalming fluid.

#19 When people get desperate, they will often do things that they never even imagined that they would be willing to do.  In Utah recently, an unemployed 28-year-old man starting running advertisements in which he actually offered to serve as “human prey” for hunters for the bargain price of $10,000.  For an additional $2,000, he said that he would be willing to allow hunters to “hunt” him down while running around naked.

#20 When criminals become desperate, they often lose all common sense.  In the San Diego area recently, one desperate thief actually tried to rob a 7-11 convenience store while dressed in a Gumby costume.  Apparently the clerk thought it was a prank, so the thief tried to pull a weapon but was unable to do so because the costume was too awkward.  Police are still searching for the suspect, who is described as being very tall, very green and very thin.

America is quickly becoming a lawless place.  Yes, authorities in many areas will attempt to crack down, but what are they going to do when millions of people all start doing desperate things all at once?

A reader identified as El Pollo de Oro recently left a comment in which he summed up the direction that he thinks this country is headed….

The Banana Republic of America, the Third World cesspool that used to be the United States, is a very violent place, but the violence is going to get much, much worse. If the BRA is this dangerous and unstable now, what is it going to be like when our terrible economy becomes even worse and unemployment becomes even higher? It won’t be pretty. As Gerald Celente says, get ready for a lot of violence. We’ll continue to see acts of thuggery for the sake of thuggery (flash mobs), but most of the violence will be profit-motivated: drug violence (hola Sinaloa Cartel, hola Los Zeta y la Familia Michoacana), kidnapping, carjacking, home invasions, armed robbery in broad daylight. Today’s unemployed IT worker is tomorrow’s kidnapper; today’s unemployed construction worker is tomorrow’s drug trafficker or carjacker. The former USA is now a Third World hellhole, and the BRA will have all the violence, poverty, squalor and crime that Third World hellholes are known for.

America used to be the envy of the world.

Now, much of the rest of the world is watching our decline in horror.

When a complete economic collapse finally occurs, what is this country going to look like?  Will it be an all-out struggle for survival, or will we be able to handle ourselves fairly well like we did during the Great Depression?

One thing is for sure, this nation is headed in the wrong direction.

So what is the solution to our problems?

One group in Massachusetts thinks that they know what the problem is.  Amazingly, they are actually pushing really hard to have the Pledge of Allegiance permanently banned from all public school classrooms in the state.

Apparently the group believes that the Pledge of Allegiance has “no educational value” and that it places “unnecessary pressure” on kids.

This is yet another example of how divided our country has become.  We are constantly fighting over really stupid stuff, and meanwhile our nation is rapidly going down the toilet.

Look, our economy is going to get even worse and tens of millions of hurting Americans are going to become even more frustrated.

Something desperately needs to be done to turn this country around.

    A sad and scary list……however, there are things that one can do. Try to help those you can help, even if it is only a little bit. Keep a low profile, and do NOT tell anyone, other than your spouse, about ANYTHING involving
    money, gold, silver, firearms or other valuables, or FOOD. Prepare for the worse, and if that is not achieved, you will still be better off than those who believed in dialing 911……..


      To be accurate, Gerald Celente’s quote is the following:

      “When people lose everything and they have nothing left to lose, they lose it.”

      However, as in many other cases the victims are responsible for their own demise. People are getting exactly what they ask for. Constant voting for the lesser of two evils, wanting cheap junk from Walmart made in China at the expense of jobs in this country, rampant greed and misplaced priorities have all blended together for the perfect storm of economic destruction and total chaos.

      But hey, how bout Slic Rick Perry vs Barrack Hussein Obama in the 2012 election? Two slickster campaigns! We can get the best of both worlds!

    Michael, I found some stunning Youtube videos. Im not the best at linking stories but a guy in southern california goes by george4title has some videos of people living in their cars and another called Arizona Public has videos of former subdivisions turned into ghost towns and garbage dumps. I guess the American Hellhole spreads. I wish I knew how to link them up, but maybe you can figure it out. I just googled economic collapse and clicked on the videos. They really are something to see.

    In China, unless one has connections strong enough get the authority’s attention, there is only one sentence for most crimes – a bullet. There is no luxury like free med care for inmates.

    There, even crime is a luxury; only those who can afford to do it can do so.

      Yes, and I’ve heard that to rub it in, the authorities will sometimes send the families a bill of around 50 cents for the cost of the bullet.

    The article about the 7 year old boy Jori who was decapitated by his father, gives the explanation:

    – Jesslyn said the ‘devil’ had visited her home and had taken away her ‘angel’.

    The 27-year-old said her son loved his father ‘more than anything … and he still killed him. He killed my baby’.

    Police have yet to find a motive for the brutal killing, but family members have said Wright had complained about hearing voices in his head. –

    “Hearing voices in his head”. In the past this would be translated by “being possessed by demons”. And the remedy to that is simple but also very difficult: pray. Refer to Mark 9:28-29. And while you are reading, read as well Mark 9:36 – 37. It says that if you would take care of a child because of Jesus, you would take care of Jesus. And not only Jesus but also God. So in a way, Jori could have been an angel. An angel, explained my son – when he was 4 -, is a friend from God.

    I have not a direct answer to Michael’s question about the solution. I know one thing. Human beings have a soul. The state of mind of your soul will determine how your heart is i.e. warm or cold hearten. Your soul is like a house and it will not stay empty. So either the Holy Spirit will be there or other spirits. And the more people don’t believe in God, the more houses these spirits will find to live in. And the more people become cold hearten.

    That article about 20 somethings being pessimistic about their financial future is spot on. I’m 28 and I graduated college during the worst of the economic downturn in December 2009. Every job interview I’ve been to in my field was either a group job interview where I was staring at eight other people competing for one job position or I was told by the interviewer I was competing against people with decades of experience. I don’t know when I’m ever going to be financially independent and my whole family is broke and unemployed living off of my father’s quickly dwindling life insurance money from six years ago. The last job I had paid a dollar over minimum wage and I worked along side nothing but recent Central American immigrants. NO ONE spoke any English at that establishment.

    I disagree with some of the things Pollo siad. I don’t think drugs are going to be a big industry in America in the future because drugs are expensive. Unless its dirt cheap drugs for the downtrodden like crack. Drug addiction is a very first world problem that stems from boredom and having a disposable income. If and when the economy and society continues to collapse, our country will more closely resemble somewhere like Haiti. This is what outsourcing and “free-trade” has done to America. A global pool of workers means that we import third world poverty while exporting our middle class way of life. China’s middle class is already larger than the entire population of the United States. We can thank Apple and Wal-Mart for that.

      Golden Child: I think that drug dealing in The Banana Republic of America will include both the high-end drugs and the cheapo drugs, such as crack. In the shantytown slums of Buenos Aires (which are called “villas miserias” in Argentina), there is a smokable form of cocaine called “paco”—and paco, which is even worse than crack, is a major epidemic in those villas miserias.

      You mentioned Haiti. I’ve been predicting that in terms of widespread poverty, the BRA will get El Salvador bad, Guatemala bad or Honduras bad but not Haiti bad or Sub-Saharan Africa bad. But am I being overly “optimistic?” I’ve had some people tell me that the collapse that awaits the BRA is going to push this country into much more severe poverty than what one typically associates with South America or Central America.

      There’s always booze, man. I’ve cooked up moonshine before (for educational purposes) and I’m brewing beer right now.

      A writer on recounted how in Yugoslavia during the war, booze was a trade commodity. He said folks traded the airline bottles like currency, but I suspect the 350ml bottles may be a better investment.

    According to what I have read in the Bible,the only solution to these problems is for this Nation to have a religious revival and get closer to God.As we can see in the Holy Scriptures,the well-being of the Children of Israel depended wholly upon their love and obedience to the Most High.As soon as they departed from the will Of God they started to have troubles and judgments from the Almighty God in His all-loving effort to bring them back to Him,the only Way to happiness and eternal life.I think it is happening the same way with this nation.It was founded in a solid faith and allegiance to the true God,but now,more than 200 years later,things have turned to a completely contrary direction.Sadly,this nation has become an example of rebellion and unfaithfulness to God.Unfortunately,most politicians nowadays do not respect the express will of God anymore and as an inevitable consequence they are reaping a harvest of lawlessness now throughout the country.As the Saviour said foreseeing the end of the times in Matthew 24:12-“And because lawlessness will abound,the love of many will grow cold”.We are seeing that prophecy fulfill now right before our eyes,but our God is a God of infinite mercy and love,so let us do as the inhabitants of that wicked city called Nineveh did,who,notwithstanding the impending punishment from God prophesied against them by the prophet Jonah,chose to repent and humiliate themselves before God,and He in His love and mercy forgave all of their iniquities and sins and gave them a second chance!Blessed be the name of the Lord!!We must do the same while there is still time!!May the Lord God Almighty have mercy on us!!

      This is absolutely correct, of course, but even if revival were to come to the USA, the nation will never again be an industrial nation of any stature. The USA won’t be a superpower any more, it’ll have been replaced by China or India.

      The average American had better get used to a future in subsistence farming.

        Have you no faith? If there was such a revival, God will bless this nation. He’ll perform his miacles to have us become an agricultural nation feeding the world, a prosperous nation. This is what He promises. Unfortunately, This will not happen. We cannot change prophesy and that the devil has only a short time left to create as much terror as possible to get people, even christians, to turn their backs against God. True christians will need to put on the whole armor of God during these times.

      I’ve been reading this site for about a year maybe. It has, perhaps, evolved from a list of terrible symptoms to a real-life bible practice site, very quickly, in the last few weeks or months? The tone has evolved.
      I find that great.
      I agree completely with the post of Magdiel. 200 years, “guided”, perhaps, by the BOE and the rot family all that time ?
      Why do I write this?
      Because I seek a practical way to help people – can we not predict what the boe-rot people will do?
      As Jesse Ventura says, the great culling has begun.
      Are there any finance (0Hedge ?) people out there who can help me understand the money mechanisms?
      I do understand what people are : if someone wanted to make me king, I would run for the next mountain to hide. So if I understand what people are, and have a finance person to talk to, can we not together work out what happens next? And help people thus?
      We see our financial destruction all around us.
      This is planned work – not chance.
      So let us use the spirit given to us – what happens next? The whole is despiritually mechanistic. These are not free people who do this.

    If you think America is frightening and dangerous now, just wait untill food becomes totally unafforadable for the average person. No government can stop a hungry man. Idaho suffered a wet cold summer I heard that hay is up to $240 a ton! City folks may not know this but hay is usually around $100 a ton. Ranchers are suffering a one-two punch with the droughts in Texas and the rainy spring up here in the intermoutain west. Make no mistake more food price increases ARE COMING!! You are already feeling the pinch now because of inflation and high corn prices, but you ain’t seen nothing yet. This is starting to reach crisis mode. Give it 6 months. People are really going to be desperate and pissed off. Oh Michael, did you see the way Rick Perry was squriming last night on the debates? I loved your article on him and they nailed that lying globalist on the Gardisil vaccine and the collage for illegals. Im still disapointed that none of the canidates would say that they would deport them if they were elected. So Im not getting my hopes up that they will. Even Gary2 dont like them along with every other American that is struggling for work these days.

      Thanks JD-There are many progressives who want all the illegal aliens deported and the companies that hire them heavily fined. We want the Us Mexico border to be like the North/South Korean border. Try to sneak in, get shot. end of problem. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

      I would also severely limit legal immigration.

      We are a minority in the progressive movement but we are bigger than you think.

      What part of illegal don’t people understand?

        For once, I agree with you, Gary.

        Illegal Immigration is a disgusting insult to this nation and all it stands for. As the husband of a LEGAL immigrant, and a vet of all the disgusting uncertainty of the process, I feel like I have a more valid argument than most. Illegals must go, no matter how many, no matter how long they’ve lurked here. And the anchor baby loophole must be revoked. Just because you come here as a foreigner, your kid is not a citizen. That must be stopped.

        The solution, in my opinion, is to declare illegal aliens to be part of a continuing criminal enterprise and, thus, liable for confiscation of their assets and possessions. I think the feds could offer a, say, $500, reward for any tip or capture that leads to deportation and let citizens earn themselves windfalls capturing or turning in illegals for the feds to deport.

        Police and Feds would have a field day seizing illegals’ cars, homes, illegal businesses, and cash for their departments and agencies. The windfall from these asset seizures would easily fund much of the operation to capture and deport the illegals. Problem solved.

        Prices for goods and services would necessarily go up, BUT I think this is reasonable, since prices were artificially held down with illegal labor. Americans would be able to fill these newly-available jobs, too. But that’s just my theory…

      I completely agree with you. Prices are just going up and up and with so many of us streched to the limit just barely having enough to keep a roof over our head and paying for gas to get to work. We are putting every extra penny into food storage. Found a great place mentioned here a while ago. . Don’t pay retail. Get a free discount account and start stocking up. We have tried many of their foods and everything has been great.

    2. Eliminate personal and corporate income tax
    3. Eliminate the death tax
    4. Abolish Obama Care
    5. Immediately reduce Federal spending by 25%
    6. Eliminate hundreds of unnecessary Federal agencies
    7. Restore Freedom, Limited Government, Limited Taxes

    This is just a short list of things that need to be done. This would put us on the road to prosperity.

        What else do you call a tax on the estate of person who already paid taxes on their income and then died? It is a death tax and Fox wasn’t the first to call it that. THAT term has been around for decades.

      BHO, I agree totally with your points but you could some those up with one statement, the government should only operate under their constitutional authority. They all swear an oath, when taking office, to obey and uphold it, but only a very very few actually try to do as they take an oath to. The fed gov would be involved in about 90 percent less “stuff” if they would operate as they should. Also, abolish the fed res and have a wealth money system. One more thing, repent America and make God part of your lives and the gov’s life again.

      If you eliminate taxes, then there is no money to run the government. Who is going to fix the interstate highways and bridges? Who is going to send more money back to the red states than they pay in (surprise, you right-wing idiots; how else do you think the Southern states survive)? You would learn from history, and that great document, that our nation is supposed to have a weak federal government and strong state governments. I trust 50 separate solutions to problems than 1 retarded centralized one.

        If the fedgov stuck to their actually rather short list of Constitutional duties, you would pay much less in taxes and your state would pave its own roads, aside from some national routes, formerly called Post Roads. Centralized gov’t does nothing well and generally creates more problems than it solves.

        And you can’t assume that it’s only the Rs that are beholden to big business. How else did Obama push the gov’t to spend half a BILLION on a failed solar plant? And why would Obama push a General to lie to Congress so his donor could get a satellite in orbit that would degrade the GPS system half the planet, including the military, uses???

I know he definitely didn’t feel blacks were equal to whites, he mentioned that several times in public speeches. I would have to say the basis for that war was money being made by powerful people, just like today. Oh well, the illusion was bound to dissipate eventually. Frankly, I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.

    May I make a suggestion? There is a book I would highly recommend it’s called Surviving the Economic Collapse by Fernando Ferfal Aguirre. He went though the collapse of Argentina in the 1990’s. Most of the issues he faced were crime related if you don’t have a CCW get one if you don’t at least have a handgun get one.     Many in America have lost their way. My wife is from South America and she has always said that in Columbia they would try to steal a hole in the ground if it was worth something. This economy will get real bad and when it does theft will skyrocket. This debt that our government owes and people’s personal debt is huge. The repair is to cut spending and this will lead to depression if we are not there already. We need to cut many regulations. We need to shrink the size of government. At this time we need to reduce wages and benifits for government workers, starting with Congress and their workers. If we do what is right and do large cuts, we will need to have patience for this could take years to repair the econmoy. We have been on a spending binge for about 45 years and this will not be fixed overnight. Does the American public have the will to fix this or will many just start riots and tear up the country. Remember, it will cost a lot of money that we do not have to replace what is torn up.

The uber-wealthy minority does extremely well in Colombia; there are some very upscale and affluent areas of Bogotá. But many colombianos are dirt-poor, and if one makes the mistake of venturing into one of the poor areas of South Bogotá, some folks will literally steal the clothes on your back (even in broad daylight). Here in Philly where I live, muggers will take your wallet—in South Bogotá, muggers will strip people down to their underwear and take their clothes as well as their money. That said, Bogotá isn’t as dangerous as Caracas, where “Secuestro Express” was filmed.

When Greece defaults (recognized as a near certainty at this point) it will trigger even more economic turmoil which will reverberate throughout the world banking system. For many people outside of U.S. your country is just the source of the wars all over the world, violence and deception. But it seems to be huge difference between your federal government purposes and what real Americans think about it. Be strong on these difficult days!..

      Anton, JF is right. We’re not our government. That tank driver I met was proud and told me with a smile, “We protected Europe from You!” I shook my head, “No, no, no. WE protected Europe from YOU.” He shook his head,”No, We protected Europe from You!”
      It was a funny conversation.
      I met a lot of folks like him who told me they, as Russians, never had a problem with us, but their country was always telling them we had a problem with them. It was an interesting experience.

    You can’t have a Kia. You’ve gotta have an Escalade. Why? Both vehicles get you from point A to point B, right?

      I prefer Mercedes-Benz instead of the makes you mention. Its founder said: Das beste oder nichts. (The best or nothing)

      The older models (without electronics, pre-1993) are very robust and built to last. So you won’t visit a garage very often. And when things break down, you can do the larger part of the maintenance yourself (provided you have the tools) and buy the parts at the scrap yard.

      Do the maintenance as prescribed by the manufacturer on for example a 300D and you never have to buy another car again.

    Pass legislation to limit all companies to have a max of 500 employees, and an individual can only own one company, no more.

    Change Election day to Selection day, have a lottery for selected (elected) officials. Make criteria, check those that put their name in the hat, then those that meet the criteria, select one on selection day. This will basically eliminate buying elections, lobbyists, elites running the elected puppets, and allow for a new methodology and stop the continued corruption.

Numerous businesses in California’s central valley (JC Penny’s seems to be a favorite) have had vehicles driven through their doors, or battered with fire axes in the middle of the night. Thieves then loot the jewelry department. Even COSTCO has fallen victim to this tactic. The vehicles are, of course, stolen.

    There are organized groups engaged in stealing catalytic converters from parked cars for platinum and palladium scrap.

    People fight over discarded hard drives for scrap. (Contains aluminum, gold, silver, copper, and platinum)

    People engaged in the theft of copper wiring and plumbing have died as a result of their activities. In Manteca, Ca. several men disappeared and were found months later in an abandoned industrial facility. They had fallen through a skylight in the middle of the night. They were engaged in the theft of copper from roof mounted air handling equipment.

    When you go shopping, pay attention to the people around you. You’ll see the despair, rage, and contempt barely contained. People are not very civil many times.

    Just wait until Christmas.

    It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

      A lot of good ideas. One thing though…you, as well as the vast majority of Americans, must get out of the Democrat vs. Republican/vote for the lesser of two evils mindset. Evil is evil, no matter how “lesser” it seems. I do not believe either is “lesser”, but the one that appears lesser is even worse than the other, because they are just better at deception. Whatever is evil will strive to become more powerful once elected. The only possible hope we have is if the vast majority voted only independent.

      I knew the 2-party system was no good back when Bush 1 was running against Clinton. When asked about their position on NAFTA, both of them wanted it. How could two supposedly diametrically opposite parties be in favor of the same undermining, nationally self-destructive trade agreement? Now THAT is truly evil.

    I don’t know why people get so misty-eyed about the Pledge of Allegiance. Probably because we are indoctrinated at such a young age, we never question it, and in fact we come to adore it. However, standing up with a bunch of others and reciting a loyalty oath to the government (or to be more precise, those who control the government) is hardly an act for free people.

  • The solution is to have a governor of a state take the reigns away from the federal government, the judiciary, and re-vitalize the Militia so that they can begin the process of arresting all of those who have destroyed our system of law, and promoted the export of all our jobs, and brought in millions of immigrants in order to foster a real civil war.

    Something that could help would be to change the curriculums in our school system. Quit gearing everything toward college. Teach the kids more basic skills so they can feel some kind of usefullness. Carpentry, plumbing or even ditchdigging are necessary parts of any society. Let kids know that they can be successful without being a doctor or lawyer. We’ve taught our children that anything that entails manual labor is beneath them. Thus the illegal immigrant problem.

    Here in California its gonna get a lot worse real soon. On October 1, AB 109 takes affect,(Governor Brown signed this legislation earlier this year). It will turn many criminals over to county supervision and reduces many of serious and violent crimes to lesser offenses to reduce the amount of inmates in state prison. They will also soon begin to release up to 40K inmates to comply with the SCOTUS order due to supposed overcrowding in California’s state prisons.
    I work as a parole agent in Los Angeles and we will not be able to arrest and return many parolees back to prison as before. Once the criminals know they can’t be returned to prison as easily as before, they’ll commit even more crimes.

    What do you expect when Hollywood shows a man dying of cancer, make drugs so he can provide for his family. It keeps getting more and more violent. On top of that they keep saying how it is the best show on television. I personally do not watch the show nor do I want to but I am still subject to the previews and advertisements. As a nation we need to stop watching garbage like that and stop supporting that kind of drama.

      Actually, it is a good show. The story is well-written, the acting is well-done, the film work is rather stylish, the subjects are as real as the headlines, and the character development is excellent. You don’t have to watch it, but I don’t think it’s fair to criticize it if you haven’t seen it. It is certainly not at fault for the problems we face. It may be a reflection at best, but at no point do they glorify drugs and violence. In fact, the characters who witness or commit violence often suffer from it and have a hard time dealing with it. I’ve watched a lot of shows and I think it really is one of the better ones out there.

    Its frightening to think it’s just the beginning of things to come. As people do become more desperate they are willing to do things they wouldn’t normally do. The difference i see between the great depression and things now is that people back then had more of a moral fabric then people do today. And perhaps their world was smaller in a sense then it is these days with the internet. So do i see the people banding together to make it through the tough times ahead ? No!! I see them becoming increasingly hostile towards one another and will to do whatever they can to survive. If an economy crashes its no longer the crisp 100 dollar bill in your wallet that will hold value, it is the precious resources you have, food, water, gas ect. And people will do whatever they can to get those things. I hope it never gets to this point but all signs point to a meltdown unless drastic changes are made to close the gap between the Haves and the Have Nots!!! There is only so much people can take before they reach a breaking point and when that happens i see a every man for himself kind of scenario. Imagine what gangs are capable of now ? What most criminals do without the crisis we could face. It’s a bleak outlook to say the least. But then again maybe im just paranoid and things will change…..well one can Dream!

    Very nice site Michael and I’m sad to say a sight for sore eyes compared to all the wishful thinking and delusion that I see passed off as news. Right now people are adapting to the harsh environment they have been thrusted in and I’ll even admit I’ve dabbled in my fair share of illegal activities in order to get by.
    I even know an extreme christian friend of mine who with heavy regret had to go back to selling drugs just to help her family but prays for forgiveness every chance she can.
    Its a new world out there and those who beg the government for help instead of adapting will be in for the most hurt of all.

    There is nothing but your life, what you have and what you want and that’s it, one thing is for sure, you will suffer and you will die, that is the one thing you can belive in! citing the bible is for the foolish and weak hearted, and if god did exist, he would represent it in some way, there are no miracles in any of the things that exist within and entirely around us, it just is that way, and if you were born deaf, dumb and blind, it would all pretty much be the same in your perception. I know i am right in saying that god does not exist because no one could ever prove me wrong. when the world is destroyed, and the only document left behind were a film like Star Wars , you can be sure that some form of religion would form around it, you get my point, its all about the human survival instinct, our desire to persist and survive like a virus does, and all the chemical reactions in the body and mind yield feeling and emotions only because its works in order for our species to continue on surviving.

    Its why sex yields love and a devotion to family, its just our complex survival system at work. we can only lay claim to have true love for our partners with whom we have sex, the offspring that are a result of the sex and so forth and so on to all that comes from that in terms of family, you can love your friends but why would you? why? they are just another person maybe you can share some common interest or do things for one another , but its not measureable as the kind of love that you have for your familial network that is just a result of the human instinct to survive through sex.

    anyway, whatever i know i am not going to see any catastrophic micracilous event happen that is like the manifestation of the most brilliant things ever imagined by the human imagination. and what we do is just so unbeliveabley grotesgue and magnifigant at the same time, i don’t understand what more else does anyone want that can be measured outside the material world. anyway, i know i will die and that gives me something something to look forward to because it means its the end of everything that is percievelbly existing . because when you die, you die, its just all lose of all senses and its like being in a blackout or asleep without dreaming, complete and total nothingness, if you feel that i am wrong

    and the bible , the koran, this and that religeous text, was each and everyone written by man, there is no such thing as anything authored from outside the human realm, and no one god speaks to one person only in a time before recorded history, if that were true, then things would be so vastly different.

USA is the only country in the world that does not protect its own workforce. There are plenty of jobs in USA – it’s just that they are not going to AMERICAN workers! You get to be homeless and starve while millions of 3rd worlders who have never seen a lightswitch get to step off the plane and into a $100,000 a year job.     Americans have risen and made their voices clear in many times of need.Millions demonstrated their demands for the end to the Vietnam war,the end of racism,equal rights etc etc.They showed their outrage by marching in the streets.They vented their frustrations by demonstrating and forcing the politicians to listen.Today,it seems,people vent their anger in forums like this.They alieve their frustrations on line.As long as people are only on line the powers that be couldn’t care less.You are not visible.You are not a threat.March if you want results!!!

    Have a complete turn around in govt.. Get rid of the two powerful and wealthy democratic and republican parties we need the Quakers back not the British nobles running our country..we are running out of time fast to get this reform one. We need god in our public classrooms not just the pledge of allegiance.. We have to learn to become one as a ppl and not be separated due to race, social economic class, teachings of religion, etc. We can rewrite history if we learn to compromise with each other..if we don’t then o well let revelation come to past.

    Our government and those who have been elected to represent the people of this nation, have remained idle for far too long. America’s fall has been engineered.

    You cannot hope to recover from an economic disaster by making a few budget cuts. You cannot jump-start the economy with bailouts, increased taxes upon the rich, or even relaxing taxation upon the middle and lower classed Americans.

    Americans need jobs. But if America’s industrial backbone has been relocated to foreign nations, how exactly do we expect to recover? If American now relies heavily upon foreign goods / imports, how exactly are we, as a nation, hoping to recover when these same goods can easily be manufactured upon our own soil?

    This nation is bleeding. I liken our nation to a patient rushed to the hospital who is bleeding to death. Rather then the doctors scurrying about to save life, they sit back, take note of what’s happening, and do nothing. They wait patiently for the final prognosis: death. They’re aware of the cause. They’re aware of the simple measures required in order to prevent death. Yet, they do nothing.

    Then again, you could try and convince me that the top minds and leaders of this nation lacked the foresight concerning massive job loss and its impact upon a capitalist nation. Good luck.

  • Um forgive me I hit the button as I was trying to actually Correct a statement that was that we had we have been losing consistently many of our original constitutional rights the 14 15 amendments to the United States Constitution. WinFax lost our seventh amendment before our generation is even born and there are certain right you’ll find it if you search online for the pamplet entitled THE CITIZENS HANDBOOK ok which was written in the forties, and was intended as our last line of defense. it is recommended reading this it is very beneficial and incredibly enlightening. It out lines are right as a jurur to ignore a judge, ignore the judges orders and even ignore the law we as a juror had, a right to veto if it is unconstitutional in any way shape or form. I have experienced violation of several of my constitutional rights especially the ones that are the most favorable. Such as the right to due process the right to live my life as I please have the right to my Liberty and the right to my happiness, and believe it or not my constitutional God given right to raise my own children.

  • I’d like to point out that Federal Courts are extremely dangerous if one is not one of the 1%. It is almost impossible to get a pro bono lawyer these days — The Center for Constitutional Rights, ACLU etc don’t even accept requests for legal assistance for individuals.

    As a pro se litigant you have these risks and more, speaking from my own experience: 1) You can be imprisoned for long periods of time on indefinite detention with no government prosecutor, no evidentiary hearing, no criminal charge, and no bail hearing — I don’t have a criminal record but was imprisoned under such circumstances by DOJ for 5 months, they claim this is legal. 2) You can be ordered to pay over $100,000 without your being sued, without a counter claim, without an evidentiary hearing, without a motion, and without identification of what you did to deserve this. — I was ordered to pay $102K without the other side filing requesting motions and without any Rule 11(c)(6) orders. This violated Rules of Civil Procedure Rule 54 and 11. 3) Even though the clerks are supposed to docket everything received regardless of local rules, your documents may not be docketed. The Federal Courts have secret unpublished procedures to avoid docketing documents. I have FEDEX receipts showing delivery of documents that were not docketed even in an open case. For instance, FEDEX delivered 794255082406 to the Federal Court District of Columbia on 12/11/12 for case 11-cv-01032 but it was not docketed even though it was a mandatory Rule 201 motion. 4) The correct adjudicator for you case might not be listed in the Court of Appeals. For instance, in District of Colorado 02-1950 the assigned adjudicator was Edward Nottingham, see document 911, but when I appealed to the 10th Circuit they listed the magistrate as the adjudicator, see 04-1108 5) The Court of Appeals might not receive your documents. In the 10th Circuit pro se litigants are not allowed an appendix. I filed a timely objection to the magistrate’s report and recommendation, see D of Colorado 02-1950 document 222, but the defense counsel supplied the appendix and they left my objection out. 6) Your case may be dismissed without an opinion. Judge Edward Nottingham dismissed my case but didn’t write an opinion even though I filed a timely objection to the magistrate’s report. See D of Colorado 02-1950 document 455. 7) Even if you pay $450 to file a motion for mandamus or an appeal in a Federal Court of Appeals, they may not issue a written opinion. I filed 10-5149 in the District of Columbia Federal Court of Appeals and no opinion was written, see Sieverding v. DOJ. I filed 11-1227 and 11-1257 in the 10th Circuit and they responded simply by issuing an order that the clerks should return anything I file in any federal court in the 10th Circuit, even if it is written by an attorney. 8) The judge assigned might have been picked because he was crooked. The judge assigned in my case was Edward Nottingham who resigned after the 10th CIrcuit reported that he was calling multiple prostitutes from his court cell phone and that he asked a prostitute to lie to investigators about his purchase of illegal prostitution services. Nottingham was not a random assignment in my case, it was transferred directly to Nottingham, see D of Colorado 02-1950 document 127. Document 465 is a verified attorney bill filing that shows that the defense attorneys communicated with the insurer Lloyds of London about case assignment issues before my case was transferred to judge Edward Nottingham.

  • Many people brought down to their knees are NOT criminals. They are just people who are terrified of losing everything. If they were given a chance, a job, a chance to earn an income and pay their bills, buy food, they would never have done anything like that. Not all people are violent, but they panic and resort to doing something that will give them just another day of food and gas to cook their food. Don’t look down on those who are so poor they lose all hope, you never know what will happen in Your own life and what you will be willing to do for your loved ones. When your children are crying of hunger, your heart breaks, please don’t judge people so harshly. What happened to compassion? We are so quick to judge. What would happen to you if both you and your partner lost your jobs and couldn’t find another one? Did you ever think of that? Do yo know how many families are in this exact situation? When desperation hits you, when you are stripped of all hope, let me know what your wise decisions will be. When you are presented with a case, please, think of what would happen to you if this happened to you. I can’t stand what has happened to peoples hearts. No one is willing to see the pain, the despair, they are only willing to judge and criticize. Wake up people, in this economy, your job and financial security, could be next :(


    This is what happens when you’re an US American; you are so bad at life that you honestly believe money is the solution to all problems.     Three mandatory seats for each state conservative, moderate and liberal so we can deal with issues and vote for people not party lines. Enact legislation to remove corruption especially from courts. Some leadership would be nice. No more federal reserve. We need a win not war or welfare so fixing our financial situation is paramount.
