Has ANYONE Actually Been Able To Successfully Sign Up For Obamacare Yet?

Obamacare Website DownDo you know anyone that has been able to get past all of the glitches and sign up for health insurance using one of the Obamacare websites?  Thousands of applications have been “started”, but the mainstream media has been desperately searching for someone that has actually been able to successfully get enrolled and so far they haven’t been able to find a single example.  The Obama administration had been promoting the story of one 21-year-old student from Georgia, but it turns out that his “success story” was a fraud and he was not actually successful in signing up for health insurance yet.  So exactly what in the world is going on here?  Certainly a few of the millions of visitors to these websites must have successfully signed up for health insurance, right?  In the end, whether a handful of Americans have been able to sign up for health insurance or not is not the real issue.  The real issue is that the launch of the most highly touted health law in U.S. history has been an epic fail.

The Obama administration has been so desperate to show that the Obamacare health insurance exchanges are working that even Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of Health and Human Services, tweeted the news story about the 21-year-old student down in Georgia getting enrolled in Obamacare.  Unfortunately for the Obama administration, the story was not actually true

The 21-year-old student from Georgia was cited in multiple articles as being one of the few, the proud, the successful to signed up for insurance through a federal exchange.

On his Facebook page, Chad Henderson bragged about being interviewed by “The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Chattanooga Times Free Press, The Huffington Post, Enroll America, and Politico,” along with several local TV affiliates.

His story supposedly was  proof that for all their glitches and problems – and the ambivalence of young people – the new health insurance exchanges were working after all.

Except it seems like it was all a lie.

So how many Americans have actually enrolled in Obamacare at this point?

The Obama administration claims that they do not have the numbers.

According to CNN, approximately 52,000 health insurance applications had been “started” as of Friday…

As of Friday, around 52,000 insurance applications have been started online on the sites of the 24 states that are operating their own exchanges, based on CNN’s own survey.

And according to the Wall Street Journal, large health insurance companies say that only “hundreds” of Americans have enrolled so far…

So far, Web-traffic problems are allowing only a small trickle of buyers, said John Gorman, chief executive of Gorman Health Group, an insurance-industry consulting firm with clients selling policies on the exchanges.

Large insurers have seen enrollment figures totaling in the hundreds each, said Sumit Nijhawan, chief executive of Infogix Inc., a data-integrity firm that works with such insurers as WellPoint Inc., Aetna Inc. and Cigna Corp.

Incredibly, only about 1 out of every 100 applications being submitted on the Obamacare health exchanges contain enough information to get an applicant successfully enrolled in a health insurance plan…

It’s a batting average that won’t land the federal marketplace for Obamacare into the Healthcare Hall of Fame.

As few as 1 in 100 applications on the federal exchange contains enough information to enroll the applicant in a plan, several insurance industry sources told CNBC on Friday. Some of the problems involve how the exchange’s software collects and verifies an applicant’s data.

“It is extraordinary that these systems weren’t ready,” said Sumit Nijhawan, CEO of Infogix, which handles data integrity issues for major insurers including WellPoint and Cigna, as well as multiple Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates.

Talk about a colossal disaster.

So why is this happening?

Why can’t more people get enrolled?

Well, the number one reason people can’t get signed up are the monumental technical failures.  For example, just check out what happened when a reporter from Georgia spent all day trying to sign up for Obamacare

Jaye Watson of 11Alive News in Atlanta spent an entire workday trying to sign up online for Obamacare, and she, like millions of others around the country, encountered error messages, hold-ups and delays in the online marketplace.

While she waited, she called the 800 number for Obamacare and was asked to participate in a survey about her customer service experience. After being put on hold for several minutes without speaking to anyone, the automated survey kicked in and asked her how she would rate the time it took to reach a customer service representative.

“Well, I haven’t gotten through to one,” Watson said.

“Thank you again for calling the health insurance marketplace. Goodbye,” the machine said.

Watson laughed derisively.

Another news organization has been detailing the nightmare that one person in Pennsylvania has been enduring in her attempt to get signed up for Obamacare.  The following is what happened when she contacted “Live Chat” in order to get some answers to her questions…

What does the Chat Service do then?

She received no response to her last question.

This kind of thing is not just happening to one person.  All over the country, millions of Americans are experiencing these kinds of extremely frustrating technical glitches.

In a previous article, I included some quotes from ordinary Americans that were posted on the official Obamacare Facebook page about the technical glitches that are happening…

-“Good grief. Day three of trying and still can’t get on this website. The government KNEW about this thing going live for two years. TWO YEARS! And this is the best they could do? I shudder to think what’s going to happen once they are in control of my healthcare. They can’t even get their website functioning properly. If my business had rolled out a piece of crap that worked like this I’d be out of business.”

-“How is it that Facebook, which is a non-essential social networking web site, can reliably handle BILLIONS of electronic interactions per second, but the Healthcare.gov site, which is literally the very heart of the Obamacare program wasn’t ready for the obvious millions of visitors that you had to know it would be receiving?”

-“i’m just going to stop even bothering for a couple weeks or so… once the fervor dies down, hopefully i’ll be able to actually create an account!”

-“And yet another day and several tries I once again keep getting nothing but a completely blank page after I log in. The top tab says ‘Successful URL’. Oh how ironic.”

-“Didn’t these Feds ever have mothers that told them not to lie? Maybe they were raised in the wild. This system is trash. I can’t verify my identity or upload documents. Also what’s with Experian verifying ID’s? Don’t care for that at all.”

-“the website can’t verify my identity…the people at the experian verification number can’t verify my identity either….i tried to upload a scan of my driver’s license, and that won’t work either……very annoying process…….i’ve wasted 3 days on this junk.”

Will the Obama administration ever get this fixed?

That is a very good question.

Meanwhile, many Americans that are already covered by health insurance are finding out that their rates are going through the roof thanks to Obamacare.  The following example comes from a recent Mercury News article

“I really don’t like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family’s pocket each year, that’s otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy.”

Have you heard from your health insurance company lately?

If not, you probably will be soon, and it will probably not be good news.

So what do you think of Obamacare so far?  Please feel free to share your thoughts by posting a comment below…

“Well, the number one reason people can’t get signed up ARE the monumental technical failures.”
Michael, please, you can do better than this. How difficult is it, really, to write simple, coherent English?

    • Tim

That sentence has subject-verb agreement. Diagram the sentence, and you’ll see that.

    • Tim

The sentence could also be written this way: “Well, monumental technical failures are the number one reason people can’t get signed up.”

The clause “people can’t get signed up” modifies the word reason.

      • MichaelfromTheEconomicCollapse

I think that my sentence is correct, but I am always open to the possibility that I have made a mistaaek. :)

        Michael

      • Richard

I cannot believe I’m reading this!
“The number one reason (people can’t get signed up…) needs to be followed by “IS” not “ARE”. “The reason IS…” not “the reason ARE”.
Michael, for God’s sake man, comment here and let me know you understand this!
No wonder America is way way down on the international list of educated countries.
To say I’m stunned would be…..

        • Tim

The subject of the sentence is failures. Therefore, the verb are is correct.

Read my two comments above again.

          • Richard

            WRONG!!
“The number one reason” is the subject of the sentence.
How CAN you be so ignorant?!!

The Obama administration is a colossal failure.

    • Kim

Every administration is a colossal failure. It’s a progressive and cumulative effort. The next administration will be worse than this, and so on….

      • Tim

I wonder if there will be an administration after this one. :-)

        • Kim

Hopefully not. The test is over, government is a proven failure.

    • Bryan

the next full office will be filled by the Antichrist not much time is left. our government system is finished and is dying right before out eyes we are being esemulated into the N.W.O shutting down the parks as they have is part of Agenda 21 it’s a great bet we are seeing the last administration this nation may ever see with free elections!

Obamacare is a glitch. I refuse to signup for that disaster. IMO, the govt can stick it.

    • Rodster

Like i’ve said, this is all about more power and control over your life. This nightmare was destined to fail and replaced with a single payer system.

I do have a question for you progressives. If they can’t even get their website operating correctly what makes you think they’ll have better success with Obamacare or a single payer system?

  • grobbeist

It’s a heck of a lot easier than signing up for health insurance the old way, folks!

I am no lover of Obamacare, but I was intrigued about healthcare.gov (Texas, no state exchange). October 1st, approximately 2:00 AM central time, I was able to create an account however the website quickly imploded into intelligible, garbled, bugfest, webpage garbage. Seriously? 2:00 AM central time… The site had been open for about 3 hours (assuming it opend at 12 AM eastern time)… How can something be so ineptly run? Did this adminisitration think that a program which affects every man, woman, and child in this country (~330 million) would not have a large influx of applicants drawing upon the program’s resources? What inane person, or agency, created a website for such a program that is incapable of hosting millions of simultaneous visitors? This level of incompetence irritates me to the core.

  • DJohn1

The problem is it is programmed on a computer.
    Computers can digitally go wrong.
If you have an overwheliming number of people, the processors get fried. Any one for Kentucky Fried Processor?
One letter on an application in a poorly planned program can keep the entire thing from being processed.
It has been organized and planned by the best piece of bureacratic nonsense ever devised by man. I refer to the same agency that has more regulations than any other in the history of the country. The Infernal Revenue Service.
All that is needed to make the entire thing go bow wow is to have one line that is data-linked to a broken line. So the processors go completely in an unending circle.

LOOKS LIKE WE GOT US A CONVOY!!![On the CB]Ah, breaker one-nine, this here’s the Rubber Duck. You gotta copy on me, Big Ben, c’mon? Ah, yeah, 10-4, Pig Pen, for sure, for sure. By golly, it’s clean clear to Flag Town, c’mon. Yeah, that’s a big 10-4 there, Pig Pen, yeah, we definitely got the front door, good buddy. Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy…

Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June
    In a Kenworth pullin’ logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
    And a Jimmy haulin’ hogs
We was headin’ for bear on I-one-oh
‘Bout a mile outta Shaky Town
I says, “Pig Pen, this here’s Rubber Duck.
And I’m about to put the hammer down.”

    [Chorus]
‘Cause we got a little ol’ convoy
    Rockin’ through the night.
Yeah, we got a little ol’ convoy,
    Ain’t she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain’t nothin’ gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin’ convoy
    ‘Cross the U-S-A.
    Convoy!
    [On the CB]
Ah, breaker, Pig Pen, this here’s the Duck. And, you wanna back off them hogs? Yeah, 10-4, ’bout five mile or so. Ten, roger. Them hogs is gettin’ in-tense up here.

By the time we got into Tulsa Town,
We had eighty-five trucks in all.
But there’s a roadblock up on the cloverleaf,
    And them bears was wall-to-wall.
    Yeah, them smokies was thick as bugs on a bumper;
They even had a bear in the air!
I says, “Callin’ all trucks, this here’s the Duck.
“We about to go a-huntin’ bear.”

    [Chorus]
‘Cause we got a great big convoy
    Rockin’ through the night.
Yeah, we got a great big convoy,
    Ain’t she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain’t nothin’ gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin’ convoy
    ‘Cross the U-S-A.
    Convoy!

    [On the CB]
Ah, you wanna give me a 10-9 on that, Pig Pen? Negatory, Pig Pen; you’re still too close. Yeah, them hogs is startin’ to close up my sinuses. Mercy sakes, you better back off another ten.

Well, we rolled up Interstate 44
Like a rocket sled on rails.
We tore up all of our swindle sheets,
And left ‘em settin’ on the scales.
By the time we hit that Chi-town,
    Them bears was a-gettin’ smart:
    They’d brought up some reinforcements
    From the Illinois National Guard.
There’s armored cars, and tanks, and jeeps,
    And rigs of ev’ry size.
Yeah, them chicken coops was full’a bears
    And choppers filled the skies.
Well, we shot the line and we went for broke
    With a thousand screamin’ trucks
An’ eleven long-haired Friends of Jesus
    In a chartreuse micro-bus.

    [On the CB]
Ah, Rubber Duck to Sodbuster, come over. Yeah, 10-4, Sodbuster? Lissen, you wanna put that micro-bus in behind that suicide jockey? Yeah, he’s haulin’ dynamite, and he needs all the help he can get.

Well, we laid a strip for the Jersey shore
And prepared to cross the line
I could see the bridge was lined with bears
    But I didn’t have a dog-goned dime.
I says, “Pig Pen, this here’s the Rubber Duck.
We just ain’t a-gonna pay no toll.”
So we crashed the gate doing ninety-eight
I says “Let them truckers roll, 10-4.”

    [Chorus]
‘Cause we got a mighty convoy
    Rockin’ through the night.
Yeah, we got a mighty convoy,
    Ain’t she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain’t nothin’ gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin’ convoy
    ‘Cross the U-S-A.

(Convoy!) Ah, 10-4, Pig Pen, what’s your twenty?
(Convoy!) OMAHA? Well, they oughta know what to do with them hogs out there for sure. Well, mercy (Convoy!) sakes, good buddy, we gonna back on outta here, so keep the bugs off your glass and the bears off your… (Convoy!) tail. We’ll catch you on the flip-flop. This here’s the Rubber Duck on the side.
    Convoy! We gone. ‘Bye, ‘bye.

ObamaCare is going to trigger a long overdue Tax Revolt.

  • SixAccounts and none working

I bet the only enrollees are those that are self-employed, buy their own insurance and now are getting screwed by their premium increases. Love to know how many people WITHOUT insurance actually enrolled (seeing as how those are the people this was meant to help)?

    • El Pollo de Oro

I’m self-employed and have had the misfortune of buying my own insurance and getting screwed with premium increases for many years. But with health insurance companies, you get very little (if any) bang for your buck. What you do get is the pleasure of fighting with Blue Cross over every little thing. Health insurance companies are the devil incarnate, and the Unaffordable Care Act gives them no incentive to clean up their behavior in a meaningful way. It rewards their corrupt practices.

  • Kim

    I did mine by mail.

  • El Pollo de Oro

The health insurance system in The Banana Republic of America was a nightmare before the Unaffordable Care Act, and it will continue to be a nightmare. The Unaffordable Care Act amounts to a corporate bailout for health insurance companies, who have slaughtered thousands and thousands of Americans over the years. But these murderous devils (Blue Cross, Aetna, United) have been selling a product that is both defective and costly, and like the banksters, they have a business model that is doomed to failure.

“Obamacare is the perfection of crony capitalism that’s being sold as something that’s wonderful for the people. Insanely expensive care provided by crony capitalist
cartels that have totally opaque pricing and are in cahoots with the central state that supposedly regulates them.”—Charles Hugh Smith

“I share the right wing’s critique of Obamacare. It’s a disastrous bill. It was written by corporate lobbyists.”—Chris Hedges

“You need some health insurance? We’re going to privatize it. We’re going to make you buy from our pals that sell insurance. That’s what they call Obamacare.”—Gerald Celente

  • Ken

If obama can change Laws (which is treason), than dammit I’m not going to comply with an unconstitutional law (Roberts can not make a Fine into a Tax and change a Law) like obamacare. What America needs is to arrest obama, all democrats, all Rinos many judges and of course all the lying media (which does include Fox News) and charge them with Treason. Sounds to me there will be alot of Hanging going on.

    • Gay Veteran

because the Republican party cannot fail it can only be failed.
get a clue, BOTH parties are 2 sides of the same coin

Nobody is asking how hard it is to sign up for traditional healthcare, prob. because they never have. It’s a LOT worse and takes much longer than ACA. See my link below (above Ginger’s comment.

  • Arvillajayne

For fascinating detail, go to naturalnews.com to see Mike Adams’ Oct 9 article that starts with “Head Fake!” as he suggests the healthcare.gov Obamacare exchange sites are a ‘mock up’ that only allow folks to sign on, but can go no further with actual selection of a healthcare plan. In other words, he presents interesting perspective that suggests how the government’s sign-on site is “a hoax.”

  • Richard

Oh yes, isn’t that hysterical! Soooo typical. Americans dumbing down excellence and glorifying stupidity and ignorance. Yours is the essence of what America is all about today. I just love it!
Hey, Gavy Veteran, just keep on chewing gum, guzzling fast food, watching Honey Boo Boo on television and borrowing even more money to buy things you don’t need with money you don’t have…

Snob, this is the comments section, not some master’s thesis.
Your comments reeks of arrogance, and you know nothing about me.

Judging by what I’ve read emanating from the general mush you presumably call your “brain”, I don’t think I want to know anything about you.

        • Gay Veteran

          awwww, poor grammar Nazi

  • El Pollo de Oro

Gay Veteran: I know a grammar Nazi here in Philly who works part-time in a dollar store and part-time at Starbucks. He has a masters in English but is stuck doing crap service jobs. In his spare time, he visits a lot of the liberal/progressive websites (don’t think he reads Michael Snyder’s libertarian sites) and comments on folks’ grammar. Anyway, this geek/nerdboy recently had a hissyfit over “dangling participles.” He was very traumatized. So I said to him, “We’re experiencing the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression, WW 3 is just around the corner, our health care system is an abomination, we’ve become a fascist police state, our currency is seriously debased, there’s a civil war in Syria, college graduates like yourself can’t pay back your student loans. And you’re worried about dangling participles.”

Yeah, when major civil unrest breaks out in the streets, the grammar Nazis like my acquaintance in the dollar store will still be complaining about “dangling participles.”

    • Gay Veteran

well you have to feel sort of sorry for him, his outrage about “dangling participles” may be his way of coping

      • Richard

It’s nothing to do with “dangling participles”, you ignoramus. It’s all about subject/verb agreement.

        • Gay Veteran

hey grammar Nazi, I was quoting El Pollo de Oro. Or can’t you read?

  • Pauly

I will not sign up. My employer gave my a form to fill out. it’s in the trash. DO NOT PARTAKE IN THIS DISASTER. SAFTY IN NUMBERS.

  • Tim

How does that article prove your assertion that Michael’s sentence is grammatically incorrect?

    • Richard

I didn’t say it did. It provides the background to Gay Veteran’s dumbing down of the importance of grammar. (You know this very well – your question is a deliberate red herring – as you also know very well).

  • Kim

With approval rates like 37% (Obama) and 28% (Congress), isn’t it obvious he government is a failure? In all respects. On all sides.

  • c

I thought I would FINALLY have Health care.?
I homecare provide for persons with disabilities and w/o health insurance have not seen a Dr in many years.
Going on 50 YO that is scary. I would LOVE to get all my “pain” symptems diognosed… but now feel as though it’s not worth this apparently failing sytem to implement.
I can’t afford a dime of it , ( as I am sure most can’t) and I am tax exempt through what I do .
I am sure they have no plan for us tax exempt Homecare providers. It is a complicated role. All said and done we make pennys , and our reward is only in helping others.
I do feel so sickened and worried about how out elderly will deal with this mess! I myself will simply bow out for now, and worry for them….

  • URGHHHHH

Here it is…Nov 25th. I am STILL unable to set up an account on the website! Unbelievable!!!
