Does America Deserve What Is Happening In The Gulf Of Mexico?

Before you read this, please be warned that the subject matter of this article is controversial.  It is going to upset a lot of people who read it.  In fact, it is likely to absolutely infuriate a large number of people.  Why?  Well, because it asks some really hard questions.  You see, most Americans prefer to see this nation as a “good” and “moral” country that God has richly blessed.  And there is no denying that God did tremendously bless the United States in the past.  But over the past several decades we have been relentlessly pushing God away as a society.  We have indulged in an orgy of endless greed, we have made lust and sexual gratification a national pastime and we have killed over 40 million babies since abortion was legalized in 1973.  Our families are fractured and our love has grown cold, and yet we continue to borrow mountains of money so that we can go buy things at the store to make ourselves feel better as we pursue “the American Dream”.  The truth is that the United States is not a “good” nation anymore.  In fact, we have become filled with evil and wickedness.  But most Americans seem to think that there will never be any consequences for all of this evil and wickedness.  In fact, most Americans seem to expect God to snap to attention whenever we decide that we need to ask Him to do something for us.  Of course the rest of the time we are more than happy to totally ignore Him.  As the Gulf of Mexico oil spill crisis continues to get worse, many Americans are beginning to wonder where God is in all of this.  Well, is it possible that God has taken His hand of protection off of us due to all of our wickedness?  Is it possible that America could actually deserve what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico right now?

That is a controversial question.

If you disagree with what you are about to read, that is okay.  In fact, feel free to leave a comment expressing your disagreement.  The idea that God could be displeased with the United States is not a pleasant thing to think about.  In fact, the mere suggestion of such a notion is enough to make some people screaming mad.

But let’s try to think about it from God’s perspective for a while.

The truth is that for decades we have pushed God out of our schools, out of our jobs, out of our government  and out of virtually ever corner of public life.  When we go home at the end of the day we are surrounded by forms of entertainment (television, movies, music, video games, Internet, etc.) that relentlessly tell us that Christianity is untrue, irrelevant, or should be openly mocked.

So now a smaller percentage of Americans than ever consider God to be an important part of their lives.  This is especially true when it comes to our young people.

A recent survey by LifeWay Christian Resources revealed that an overwhelming majority of young adults in America today do not go to church, do not pray and do not read the Bible.

Just consider a few of the results from their survey of 18 to 29 year old Americans….

•65% rarely or never pray with others, and 38% almost never pray by themselves either.

•65% rarely or never attend worship services of any kind.

•67% don’t read the Bible or any other religious texts on a regular basis.

Not only are we not putting God first as a nation – the truth is that most Americans want nothing to do with Him at all.

And increasingly, those who do express faith in God are being openly mocked in public.

For example, after a student at one community college in California gave a speech in class about his Christian beliefs and values, the instructor refused to give him a grade and instead wrote the following on his evaluation form: “Ask God what your grade is.”

The militancy of those who seek to wipe every reference to God from public life can be absolutely stunning at times.

Seniors at a New Haven, Connecticut high school will not be graduating “in the year of our Lord” ever again.  The school district has removed the traditional phrase from high school diplomas after someone complained.

It is almost as if “God” and “Jesus” have become forbidden words.

Well, except when people want to use them as cuss words.  In fact, it is extremely difficult to find a major Hollywood motion picture these days that does not use “God” or “Jesus” as a curse word.

Not only that, most people seem to think that misusing the names of God is rather cute and funny.

What do you think God thinks about it?

It’s something to think about.

But we don’t have time to think about it.

In fact, we have filled up our lives with being busy.

We are so busy teaching our young people that they evolved from animals, and yet we are so shocked when they start behaving like animals.

We have adopted Darwinism as an official religion in our schools.  However, even many atheist scientists are now admitting that life is so improbable, and the physical characteristics of the universe are so finely tuned to accommodate it, that it really seems that the universe “knew we were coming” – and yet they still will not admit that God exists.

No, we don’t want anything to do with the God of the Bible, but America seems more open to other “gods” than ever.

For example, the U.S. Air Force Academy has officially added a worship area for pagans which was dedicated during a ceremony held on March 10th.

Isn’t it wonderful to know that pagan worship is alive and well at the U.S. Air Force Academy?

Islam is rapidly spreading in the United States as well.  In fact, did you know that the opening prayer at the opening session of the Virginia General Assembly was recently delivered by a radical imam?

The truth is that Islam is rapidly growing in the U.S. and Christianity is in rapid decline.

We are headed down the same road that the U.K. and much of Europe has already taken.

So just how bad are things in the U.K.?

Well, approximately 20,000 pagan revellers recently descended on Stonehenge to mark the summer solstice.

The truth is that paganism and occultism are experiencing a dramatic resurgence.

Of course it should not be any surprise considering the fact that Harry Potter, witches and vampires are some of the greatest Hollywood heroes right now, but whenever Christians are shown in the movies these days they are almost always portrayed as something bad.

Once you become conscious of the anti-Christian propaganda you will start to see it everywhere.

And as our society turns away from God we start to see the symptoms pop up all over the place.

In 2 Timothy 3:1-5, it describes for us how people will be in the last days….

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

Is that not a perfect description for what we see today?

One thing in particular that always gets my attention in that portion of Scripture is the part about how people will be disobedient to their parents.

Today, the lack of respect for mothers and fathers is astounding.  In fact, you can see this very clearly in many television shows where the father is portrayed as a bumbling idiot who does not deserve an ounce of respect from his wife or from the children.

The truth is that the family itself is under attack in society and we see families falling apart everywhere.

But should it be any surprise that families are falling apart when we murder approximately a million babies in the United States every single year?

Abortion is a national disgrace, and anyone who think that God does not care that we have killed over 40 million babies since 1973 is severely deluded.

So why are there so many abortions in the United States?

It is to dispose of the “unwanted side effects” of our sexual promiscuity.

In fact, we seem absolutely determined to make the next generation even more sexually promiscuous than we are….

*The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides recently hosted a “no-adults-welcome” panel at the United Nations where Planned Parenthood workers were allowed to distribute a brochure entitled “Healthy, Happy and Hot.

*Parents at one local high school in Shenandoah, Iowa were absolutely outraged recently after young teenagers were instructed on how to perform graphic sexual acts during a Planned Parenthood sex education class.

*Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick says that he objects to a new policy in Provincetown allowing even elementary school students to receive free condoms, and to do so without telling their parents.

Elementary school students receiving free condoms?

What in the world has happened to us?

What has happened to us is that we have become a very sick society.  U.S. health officials recently announced that approximately 16 percent of all Americans between the ages of 14 and 49 are infected with genital herpes.

And that is only one of the dozens of sexually-transmitted diseases that are out there.

The truth is that lust has become an American pastime.

More than 70% of all men in the United States between the ages of 18 and 34 visit at least one pornographic website in a typical month, and approximately 89 percent of all porn is produced in the United States.

Not only that, but law enforcement officials estimate that about 600,000 Americans and 65,000 Canadians are trading dirty child pictures online.

Is it comforting to know that there is such a large army of sickos out there today?

Actually, in today’s society, virtually anything goes.  In fact, a 10-year-old boy was recently named grand marshal for a gay pride parade in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

But aren’t some Americans standing up for morality?

After all, when we had the Bushes in the White House weren’t they trying to get America on the right track?

Well, no.

During a recent interview with Larry King, former first lady Laura Bush revealed to the world that she is actually in favor of legalized gay marriage and a woman’s “right” to abortion.

Yes, you read that correctly.

It looks like millions of Americans were totally fooled by the Bushes.

But the truth is that the entire nation is going crazy.

For example, one California couple recently attempted to sell their 6-month-old baby for $25 outside a Wal-mart.

How sick is that?

The truth is that even our law enforcement authorities cannot always be trusted anymore.  One police officer in Oklahoma recently tasered an 86-year-old disabled grandma in her bed and stepped on her oxygen hose until she couldn’t breathe because they considered her to be a “threat”.

It is almost as if we have totally lost our ability to think clearly.

But the reality is that crime is everywhere.  There are nearly 12 million crimes committed in the U.S. every single year.  That is by far the worst in the world.  No other nation has more than about 6 million reported crimes every year.

Not only that, but there are also approximately 500,000 robberies and approximately 1.2 million car thefts in the United States every single year.

America is rapidly turning into a wasteland.

In fact, when it comes to one particular vice (lying), nobody seems to be better at it than our politicians.  Our politicians regularly lie through their teeth and the American people just accept it because we have been taught that lying is just what politicians do.

But it turns out that corruption is everywhere.  In fact, the corrupton of the financial system has become so widespread that it is almost impossible to keep up with all of the scandals that keep erupting.  The U.S. government is now completely overwhelmed with trying to prosecute all of the thieves and jackals down on Wall Street.

So why is there so much corruption down on Wall Street?

It is because of greed.

If there is one thing that the American people love, it is money.

Meanwhile, much of the rest of the world is literally starving.

Just consider the following statistics on world hunger….

Already 1 billion people in the world go to bed hungry every single night.

Already somewhere in the world someone starves to death every 3.6 seconds and 3/4 of them are children under the age of 5.

Already approximately a third of all children in the world under the age of five suffer from serious malnutrition.

Do those statistics make you sad?

They should.

We have hoarded the wealth of the world in order to make our own lives more comfortable.

But that wasn’t enough.

We had to have more.

So we borrowed and borrowed and borrowed.

We spent the money that belonged to our children and then we spent the money that belonged to our grandchildren and then we spent the money that belonged to our great-grandchildren.

Now the U.S. government has accumulated a debt of over 13 trillion dollars that is literally impossible to repay.

And yet we keep on borrowing.

In fact, the total of all government, corporate and consumer debt is at a level of about 360 percent of GDP.

At no point during the Great Depression did we ever get anywhere close to such a level.

And yet we keep on borrowing.

We have become absolutely addicted to debt.

And it is going to destroy us.

A tsunami of red ink, created by our gluttonous greed, is headed our way and it is going to wipe out the U.S. economy.

The United States once had the greatest economic machine in the history of the world, and now our greed and gluttony have brought it literally to the brink of destruction.

So in light of everything discussed above, do you still think that the United States is a “good” nation?

Do you think that God should snap to attention and fix our problems whenever we ask Him to even though we have rejected His ways?

Do you think that it might just be possible that we deserve what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico?

It’s something to think about.

  • I think that BP reaped what they sowed. They took shortcuts to save money and it didn’t work out. The way things are going for them the company will go bankrupt.

I know many good people. Neighbors who have helped me. As a child of God it is my responsibility to put myself in a position to be influenced by good. I do that my attending church every week and then acting on what I learn and am reminded to do.

It may not make me a good person but because of it I am a better person than I would have been.

“and yet they still will not admit that God exists.”

I like your stuff a lot more when your not waving your PTL Club freak flag…

People won’t take you seriously if you continue to write religious drivel like this…

We have hoarded the wealth of the world in order to make our own lives more comfortable.

    But that wasn’t enough.

We had to have more. The WE is the right wing and their godless policies that keep giving tax breaks to the wealthy and are pro corporation and profits over people. They are destroying the middle class.

  • The Econ Professor

Karma’s a bitch and life’s ironic. We invaded countries for oil, now we’re getting it in gobs when we don’t want it. That which makes you prosperous is usually your undoing.

as an american born jew i could not agree more
    great post

  • You have made a good case and presentation concerning moral decline in America, as well as concerning the post-Chrisitan culture we have become.

Theologically, there are different ways to look at this and to find hope even now. From my own position on the Bible, I would say that God certainly hates the sins of all people and all nations. And God will not hold back his wrath forever. With the advent of the New Covenant (New Testament), I do not believe we can say that God is in the business of judging nations as he used various nations to judge Israel, when Israel consistently failed to uphold the Mosaic Covenant. We would have to say that the US is being treated as a chosen nation and I do not see any Biblical support for God having a chosen nation other than the true Israel, which is the Church, the body of Christ.

Obviously, God places men in positions of government and removes them. None are good in a Godly way, some are more evil than others. Surely that is why more people die at the hands of their own governments in peace than during war (Holocaust, Mao, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, the American Indian, etc). Yet, to prevent utter chaos and the absolute rule of evil, God provides a common grace to all men (he sends rain upon the good and evil, the elect and the reprobate).

We also know that Christians, while they may be patriots, are not to be nationalists, that is, putting their government in the place of God or thinking that God’s kingdom can or will be brought to this world through government. While we show proper respect to people placed in power, because they are placed their by God, whether good or evil, we never slip into the thought that our enemies are of this world, or are weapons. No, our enemies are high powers in the spiritual world and our weapons are that of prayer, the very Word of God, which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I once despaired as a Christian concerning this nation. Yet, as I read Genesis, I realize that we are only what any nation can be–evil, proud, self-seeking, and un-Godly. For proof of that, we need only to see how Israel constantly failed and betrayed God, no matter how many times forgiven or miraculously delivered.

Surel the Church has a role to proclaim the whole Word of God to the world, both the Law and Grace. Sadly, I must blame much of what this nation is on the weak preaching of the Word from the pulpit. Churches have slid into copying the world, seeking power, growth, and influence. They preach prosperity and blessings here and now, and not salvation from eternal damnation and the identity of each Christian in Christ, himself, righteous because of Christ, and not because of his own actions. Apostasy has slipped in easily, due to the lack of the teaching of sound doctrine. The sacrament of the Lords’ Supper has become a now and again remember and weep thing, rather than a weekly spiritual feeding of the saints of God. Church discipline, a threat to church growth, has been tossed in the trash can rather than upheld as a loving intervention to correct a wayward saint and preserve the health and integrity of the Body of Christ.

Until American Christians can see God as the Holy Creator and Sovereign Ruler of His Creation, instead of their buddy-buddy who just loves them ad wants a personal relationship with them, we will continue to suffer, as we should. Yes, Jesus is our friend above all friends and our brother. Yes, we can call upon God as father. But we can only do this when we also first see him as the most Holy and Fearful Lord who has gracefully shown mercy to some, that not all would perish.

Finally, I would say that America’s fascination and worship of equality and democracy has resulted in a doctrine of salvation that empowers each man with the ability to choose or reject God. This elevates man to the level of God, rather than places man at the foot of the Cross, wholly dependent on God to save him completely. We may not like it, but the Scripture demands that recognize that God will save some and the rest will perish, and it will be by his mysterious choice who ends up in heaven, not based upon anything in man. As Paul tells us in Romans 9, “before they were born and had the chance to do good or evil, God said, “Jacob I have loved and Esau I have hated.”

I would pray that the Church in this nation return to orthodoxy in its doctrinal understanding of the Bible and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Until each of us realizes that we are utterly unworthy to contribute anything to our salvation, that we are deserving of hell and earn that judgement more and more each day, we cannot find peace and rest in the knowledge that it is God alone who saves, through faith alone, through grace alone, as given in his word, alone, and for the glory of God, alone.

My final word is to encourage American Christians to not see the signs about them as signs of a temporal judgement, but proof of (1) the wicked hearts of men, (2) validation of the prophecies of the Bible, and (3) a chastisement of the Church to repent and seek our comfort in Christ, not in the government, our society, or the world, for we are no longer of this world, though we yet remain in it. And, if we can do this, can we not be come the salt that preserves?

The truth is that USA is a Nazi country in the fullest sense of this word.
USA even surpassed Nazi Germany in some ways.
Nazi Germany didn’t cut human organs from people and didn’t trade them.
But Albanians, with total American support and approval, did this to Serbs. And Americans have nothing against this. They don’t care. US propaganda is screaming endlessly that Serbs are guilty in everything. (Actually, Gebbels would be absolutely happy to hire 90% of Western journalists- they are eager to disseminate Nazi propaganda. For example, Western journalists worked in Gebbels style, when Georgia started a war in Osetia in 2008. When Georgia troops were killing peaceful citizens and Russian peacekeepers, ALL Western journalists were screaming that Russia started a war. Gebbels would praise them for their excellent work! This is your freedom of speech, this is your honesty).
Everybody knows that USA conducts drugs trafficking of enormous scale from Afghanistan.
USA killed about 1 million of peaceful people in Iraq. All the reasons to invade this country were fake.
    Now US threatens Iran.
Into how many countries have Iran troops entered since 1945? They only had a war with Iraq.
How many wars had USA since 1945? USA constantly wages wars and constantly threatens other countries.
USA is governed by a gang of bandits, that should be tried in new Nurnberg process.
Instead, they dare to teach every country, how they should live.

  • Greg

America was destined to be what we were and to become what we are becoming. Our destiny was planned long before our Declaration of Independence and that plan included our downfall as a part of the ushering in of the NWO. The religious and other freedoms were a part of the ascent to power. The onslaught of immorality and the removal of Christianity from this nation are part of the planned demise.

So does America deserve what is happening? It is hard to say no. Each person should keep in mind that we all deserve eternity in hell because of our rebellion against God but we can be spared of that judgment through repentance and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Bruce

Anytime someone brings out the “we/you deserved that because you smite-d god” explanation, they sound like an absolute looney. This is no exception.

I’m not a believer at all, but I do hope I am wrong. I hope that there is a God and that when we die, he smacks some sense into the people that wasted their entire lives worshiping and judging others on his behalf and dreaming up BS like this article. If there is a God, he would want what any father would want for their children. Good, honest people getting the most of out life.

Now, who to blame for the Gulf mess… lets start with BP, the truth will come out and you will see that they are the real problem but the government regulators are to blame too… we have them for a reason and once again they have completely let us down. Finally, lets blame the politicians who don’t have a backbone because industry (EVERY INDUSTRY) is in their pocket, so they purposely weaken the regulators until they are totally ineffective. Lastly, blame the citizenry, because many don’t vote and many who do vote aren’t smart enough to see through the BS that the candidates are slinging on all sides. Ignore what they say, watch what they do.

  • questioneverything

I think in general, we are a good people. What keeps me believing this is that every weekend I go to church and see 5,000 people seeking God. Two other services I don’t see of 10,000. People more often than not are courteous to me on the road. My neighbors are friendly and helpful. When a horrible disaster happens and peoples lives are destroyed, good people hit the street to help. Yes, there are a few dirt bags that loot. Dirt bags will always be around to steal TV’s when the power is out. The gene pool does manufacture defects. You can’t throw all of America into a mold of evil though because I know that whether or not they profess Christ, most people want to do good.

As for all the government stuff, if you’re a believer and you know the prophesy of the end times, You gotta know that global governance is coming,(one world government, NEW WORLD ORDER). It’s been in the works of our government since Wilson, under the control of the global elite…All the rich tycoons! So you can’t be surprised when you hear about all the travesties that are propagated every day. These people believe in population control (i’m not making this up, i’ve seen video of these elitist spouting off about it) Abortion, population control, genocide, population control, allowing whole countries to starve to death…Our own Constitution has been shredded and is soon to be burned with all the hopes and dreams of our children. The worlds financial woes will work out to someones advantage…the very same people who engineered the mess. The greedy have had control of this world since the early 1900’s and now they control 60% of our lives. Even after all of this, most average people still want to do the right thing. There’s a much bigger picture here than that God is punishing the gulf coast because of sin. That sounds like Pat Robertson condemning Haiti after an earthquake. It’s the same small minded, Bible thumping, judgmentalism that give Christianity a bad name. Share Gods love, not church lady’s condemnation.

By the way, did you know that evil Americans are responsible for 80% of the worlds charity? Mostly from churches and general outreach organizations.

  • Mr Carpenter

I just emailed a link to this to all of my friends. Needless to say, Europe, Canada, the UK, Japan, etc. are in similar straits – in fact, ahead of the USA on the same road. May as well say the entire world.

I strongly suspect that few people will admit that we humans deserve punishment, because we humans have this massive sickness called sin and don’t want to admit to being wrong.

Admitting to being faulty and flawed, and allowing Christ into one’s life means the loss of control to many people, in their heart of hearts.

They have no idea that it truly means freedom in the most fundamental level.

But of course, we cannot expect non-Christians to understand this and in fact, many self-professed Christians don’t even understand this.

I’ve watched the society that I live in degenerate since I became aware enough (in my pre-teen years) as to what was going on and it has been a sad and painful journey. Yet I have joy in my life – not always happiness, which dependes upon circumstances – but real joy, which transcends circumstances. Solely due to Jesus Christ.

Perhaps those of you ready to go ahead and join the world mocking me are secretly in admiration of people such as myself. If so, then find a true Biblical oriented church, and do it soon.

Time is almost up, in the most literal sense that can be imagined.

  • Peter

I wonder if we have reached the point of no return. I try to pray for our nation but it is difficult with all of the corruption. We are certainly headed in the wrong direction. What will happen after the church is raptured. What will this world look like then.

“People won’t take you seriously if you continue to write religious drivel like this…”

Good for you for writing an article from a biblical point of view. I am glad to finally find someone who writes with the complete picture in mind. The evidence is vast that YHWH exists, and it is through Jesus Christ we are saved. Honestly, I don’t think you have written articles to please the peoples ears, but what is true and honest.

Please visit my link for the top 10 scientific reasons to believe in God. It is one page back to back.

  • Dave R

Those who reject what you’re saying because it’s “religious” really don’t get it. What you say is more correct than people want to hear. But people don’t want to believe that they’re not good. The fact is that we deserve not only this, but worse. Mankind has failed miserably. America leads the pack in many ways. Not because of some issue about oil or the environment or any political reason, but because we reject God.

Thanks for having the guts to say it straight.

  • Scott

The areas that are going to be most affected as time rolls on in the BP mistake, especially should a hurricane lift the oil into the inner country are going to be the bible belt folk. Think about that for a while.

And this is as it should be.

God exists, religion is a form of control, god does not need religion to get his point across, in fact religion runs counter to god. This was Jesus’ message. That is truth.

  • Greg

Bolivar – I wish I could be offended at your comments about America but unfortunately they are true. Americans need to realize there is an irrevocable law of sowing and reaping which will ensure we are going to have some nasty crops to harvest! I offer my apologies to the world for what we have done. Americans also need to realize that most of the world justifiably hates us and when we lose our ability to dominate other countries by our superpower bully tactics, we are going to be ripped to pieces from all sides, and internally. Finally, I encourage Americans to look into the matter and you will find that America not only is Nazi but that we funded the Nazis, as well as most other atrocities in the world.

  • Mr Carpenter

Scott, that is an interesting perspective. I thought about it a slightly different way; if the Bible belt people are forced to move north to escape the sickness and death wrought by the fumes and oil-rains sure to come when hurricane season hits, then the real Christians amongst them are liable to actually be the first such people some northerners will ever notice (always ignoring and mocking the ones surrounding them).

God willing, this could mean a revival in this country – due to seeing how real Christians (and there are some, everywhere) can cope with such upheaval – with internal peace.

But I see your point; I, a Christian, don’t consider myself having a religion; I consider myself having a faith that I live in view of others. There is but one (false) religion in the world; “I gotta do this and that and the other thing to save my bacon from a wrathful – some sort of god…”.

  • Greg

    Scott and Carpenter:

It is easy to have a thought and entertain it and then think that you are “on to something”. Actually, you are deceived. We were told to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together and Jesus regularly attended the synagogue, even though they were imperfect. If you go to church because you think that it is saving your bacon or because you think you are elevating yourself in God’s eyes, you are self-deceived but that does not make attending church wrong. It is important to keep in mind the distinction between Christianity and religion. Religion is man seeking God and it leads to idolatry and misguided people. Christianity is God seeking man and that leads to us knowing the truth, and the truth shall make us free. We must attend churches that preach Biblical truth and demand it in the churches we attend.

Christians must get ready for the persecution that Jesus told us would happen in the last days. Scott is one example of the hell that is going to be unleashed upon us and the Book of Daniel tells us that Satan will have power in the last days to overcome the saints. Saints are those who are alive, not dead Catholics, e.g. Paul wrote to the saints in Ephesus and that was not written to be read at the cemeteries. Scott claims to believe in God and the truth of Jesus, yet he believes that people in the Bible Belt should be displaced by the Gulf disaster because they are Christians. The twisted evil that Satan gets into people’s minds is mind-boggling. That twisted evil is always justified in the minds of Satan’s minions and the purveyors of evil always elevate themselves as somehow being more enlightened and having an understanding that others – their victims – don’t.

  • John

Why can’t we have a rational discussion without bringing god into it? I am not sure that god has much to do with the woes of the US.

I read about 10 lines and gave up. Waste of time. You think that if we all follow the bible religiously (no pun intended) that suddenly there wouldn’t be war or oil spills?

  • Bruce

I’m absolutely stunned by the comments here… I didn’t think there were so many religiously deranged people left in this country. I really need to find a more evolved country to live in. I’m embarrassed to be associated (as an American) with all of the religious nitwits here.

There is no god, get over it and enjoy life.

  • AlamoDoll

    To kfdisme:

Religious drivel? I hope that you are kidding, but I know that you are not. This article is the truth. You can call it “drivel” if that makes you feel better, but one day I hope that you will see the truth. If the U.S. continues to be ashamed of God and His ways, we will continue on the path of evil and self destruction. That is exactly what Satan wants, and so far America is serving up herself on a silver platter and handing it over to the evil one. It will NOT end good.

  • John

    Thanks Bruce

For a minute there I thought I had gone mad. Fortunately there is still reason in the US.

  • Greg

Leave it to Bruce Almighty to set us all straight. Thank you, O all-knowing guru. Since you obviously have all knowledge and understanding and you have thoroughly devastated my hopes and dreams for any afterlife, may I worship you?

wow this turned into an interesting conversation. Greg and Mr. Carpenter I applaud the comments.

To John, quick… God has to do with everything, thats the point of a living God… He is part of ALL.

To Bruce… the concept of religiiously deranged is the problem…its not about religion…it really has to do with the belief that there is a greater power then you. I truly believe that everything that happens everywhere is directed at some level or another for a purpose…take that as you will…and to add your mission should you decide to take it (and you did cause your alive) is to figure out your purpose in the events occurring around you.

Hey Greg…I guess I never defined religion as man seeking God…Why? cause you can’t go outside of yourself to seek God…He is within…that’s the point of life on earth as I see it…You are tempted with the material (the outside world) and it is the task at hand to reject it (now or whenever you are able…how ever many lives it takes) and go within to find the God within. My view further takes all materiality as the body of God…We are how god experiences life. Thus even though I don’t disparage people gathering in unity…the real search is within and not in a church where rituals and donations are the norm.

I appreciate the conversation…hoping for each a safe path in the coming storm.

It’s not god, it’s just logic. You can’t do what we’ve done for so long without having to pay for it. Physics. What goes up must come down. Yes, we’re screwed, but god didn’t do it, we did it to ourselves.

i remember an american actress, sharon stone, saying that the earthquake devastation in china was karma for what that country did to the tibetans. perhaps the gulf of mexico oil plague is karma for the usa’s use of depleted uranium in iraq and agent orange in vietnam? you should ask sharon for her take on this.

God is an invention of Man.

I would call MOST of these comments: Mental Illness.
