Corruption In America

In the United States today, it is not just the economy that is crumbling.  The entire fabric of society is coming apart as well.  Literally almost wherever you look you can find rampant corruption in America.  Our federal government is corrupt, our state and local governments are corrupt, our corporations are corrupt and unfortunately average Americans seem to become more corrupt all the time.  As corruption becomes widespread in America, trust is breaking down.  It is very difficult to know who to trust these days.  But a society cannot function without trust.  So what are we going to do when all the trust is gone?

The SEC announced today that JPMorgan has come to an agreement to pay out 153 million dollars to settle charges related to the sale of a controversial collateralized debt obligation back in 2007.  It turns out that a hedge fund that helped pick the underlying assets for the CDO also bet very heavily that it would fail.  JPMorgan marketed the CDO as a good investment when they knew that it was garbage.

Robert Khuzami, the SEC’s top enforcement officer, summed up the charges against JPMorgan this way….

“J.P Morgan marketed highly-complex CDO investments to investors with promises that the mortgage assets underlying the CDO would be selected by an independent manager looking out for investor interests”

So is anyone going to go to jail for this?

Of course not.

In fact, not a single bank executive has gone to jail for anything that happened during the financial crisis.

So how are we supposed to have faith in the system if nobody is ever held accountable?

Are little slaps on the wrist supposed to make us all feel better?

The truth is that what JPMorgan did was far from an isolated incident.  If you doubt this, just read the following article….

How Goldman Sachs Made Tens Of Billions Of Dollars From The Economic Collapse Of America In Four Easy Steps

Our system is totally sick and corruption is everywhere.

Cronyism has become so endemic to our system that nobody really seems bothered by it anymore.  For example, just check out this example that was recently reported in The New York Times….

In 2009, a judge in Manhattan had a lucrative appointment to hand out: oversight of a diamond district building that was drifting into foreclosure.

Nearly 600 people in Manhattan had been approved for such work. But the job went to a lawyer named Mark D. Lebow, who is the husband of Patricia E. Harris, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s most trusted aide.

Since then, Mr. Lebow has earned $352,000 in fees, more than $5,000 a week, according to court records.

It sure is nice to be “politically-connected”, eh?

It is not by accident that so many of our politicians (and their family members) become incredibly wealthy.

But it is not just among the wealthy and powerful that we are seeing an increase in corruption.

All over the United States, thieves are stealing copper wire, train tracks and even drain covers.  People are stealing stuff that nobody would have ever dreamed of stealing in the past.  Just consider the following example from the Atlanta area….

Kids in two Atlanta communities won’t have their neighborhood pools to help beat the summer heat, at least for now. Thieves used what is believed to be sledge hammers to bust walls and break fixtures in bathrooms at Adams and South Bend parks to steal copper, brass and steel.

This is how desperate people throughout America are becoming.

In another example from the Atlanta area, thieves recently busted into a southwest Atlanta beauty supply store and took off with $30,000 in hair extensions.

America is becoming a really crazy place.

When times get really hard, people will do whatever they feel they need to do in order to survive.

One elderly man down in North Carolina was so desperate that he actually robbed a bank so that he could be put in prison and be given free health care.

Yes, you read that correctly.

59-year-old Richard James Verone walked into an RBC Bank in North Carolina, handed a clerk a note demanding $1 and sat down and waited for the police to arrive.

It turns out that he has a growth on his chest and two ruptured disks but he does not have any health insurance.  So he robbed the bank so that he would get free health care in prison.

The truth is that our country is rapidly coming apart.  As I have written about so many times before, the American Dream is in an advanced state of decay.

Once upon a time, cities such as Detroit, Michigan were the envy of the entire world.

Today, they are a joke to the rest of the world.  Many of our biggest cities have become war zones.  There are dozens of homes that you can purchase in Detroit right now for literally next to nothing.

For example, 14769 Liberal Street in Detroit is listed for sale on Zillow for just $100.

Not that anyone would actually want to live there.  Many homes in Detroit are literally being ripped to pieces by looters, vandals and thieves.

Of course many Americans are just taking their cue from the government.  Washington D.C. is drowning in so much corruption that it is almost hard to describe.

One of the biggest offenders in Washington D.C. is the Federal Reserve. In a recent article for Rolling Stone, reporter Matt Taibbi exposed some of the folks that the Federal Reserve sent money to during the financial crisis….

The Fed sent billions in bailout aid to banks in places like Mexico, Bahrain and Bavaria, billions more to a spate of Japanese car companies, more than $2 trillion in loans each to Citigroup and Morgan Stanley, and billions more to a string of lesser millionaires and billionaires with Cayman Islands addresses. “Our jaws are literally dropping as we’re reading this,” says Warren Gunnels, an aide to Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. “Every one of these transactions is outrageous.”

Did we really need to send billions of dollars to “millionaires and billionaires” in the Cayman Islands in order to save the U.S. economy?

Something really stinks, but since our politicians are too gutless to authorize a comprehensive audit of the Federal Reserve we may never know what has been going on.

So who does get probed in America today?

The American people do.  The ridiculous airport security measures that we have to put up with have gotten completely out of control.

In the name of “national security”, we now allow security goons to feel up our women and children.

Recently, one video of a 6-year-old girl having her private areas touched in public by the TSA went viral on YouTube.  You can watch the video right here.

The little girl was also apparently drug tested.

How perverse is that?

A 6-year-old girl has to go through all of that, but the corruption of the Federal Reserve and the big Wall Street banks is allowed to continue.

Even the mainstream media is deeply corrupt.  As I wrote about recently, they love to get the American people obsessed with the latest celebrity news or the latest “Twitter scandal”, but they often purposely ignore some of the most important news stories that are happening because they do not fit in with the agenda that their corporate owners are trying to push.

Of course one of the worst examples of corruption in America is the U.S. Congress.  A new scandal involving Congress seems to erupt almost weekly, and almost everything Congress tries to do ends up being corrupt in one way or another.

The sad thing is that Congress is not even working most of the time.  Most Americans have no idea how much time off members of Congress get.  Just check out the video posted below.  This is going to shock you….

As noted earlier in the article, without trust a society cannot function. That is why all of this corruption in America is such an important issue.

If we do not reverse this trend, society will continue to break down.  When faith in our major institutions is gone, it is going to be incredibly difficult to get back.

Please pray for the United States of America.  We really need it.

  • Whoa there buddy! FIFTY NINE IS NOT ELDERLY. Not by anyone’s standards. Hyperbole is not needed : )

    • adding…I totally support what he did. It was smart and creative, and should make a statement. This system of neglect for the ‘average joe’ is a disgrace.

  • Have you ever wondered why so many politicians are millionaires?

On average, politicians beat the stock market index by 1% per month or 12% annually.

Insider trading by politicians is legal.

  • “Please pray for the United States of America. We really need it.”

Borrowing money that can not be repaid is stealing. Every time our politicians engage in theft, they go on national TV and ask God to bless America.

  • josh
    • That’s interesting. They portray it as just one “troubled individual” with lots of personal problems, not as a political act or response to the actual issues that drove him to it. No mention of THOSE. Whatever.

Nuclear annihilation is the only thing that will save the world from this hellhole called the Union of Shitheads and Assholes (USA).

One of the results of the corruption is the huge disparity in wealth and income between the haves and the have nots and the never wills.

It could only get this bad due to corruption and on top of it all the right wants to give even more tax cuts to the rich. I really believe a French style revolution is approaching. Even as dumb as most Americans are they are starting to wake up to a rigged system.

In WI-tax cuts for millionaires and corporations while there will be 40-45 kids in a classroom and many many cut off Badger Care.

75% of corp in WI do not pay taxes, why in the F do they need a tax cut?? WTF is wrong with the country?

      Interesting comment.

I also want to apologize to everyone for all of the technical difficulties on the site lately. They have been addressed and so hopefully there will be no more down time.

Cronyism in the courtroom in New York City? I thought this only happened where I live.

  • Jonathan

Corruption in America is not new. Neither is the lack of prosecution. For a real eye opening experience take a look at some of America’s most wealthy citizens/families and how they made so much money and then ask yourself why We continue to respect them. The fact remains that until We are willing to honor the honest and those that display the values and virtues that We hold dear, nothing will change.

  • RapidRay

Do not forget our Supreme Court Justices . One Justice forgot to report his wife’s $7000,000 income , because he did not understand the law ! This is a justice of the Supreme Court . Then , it was forgotten about the next day . See if a citizen could get away with weak excuse !

  • Mr Carpenter

Sadly, I noticed this exact same problem when I joined the military X number (over 30) years ago. One rule for “them” and another for “us”.

The “them” were officers; police; females; and blacks or hispanics.

The “us” were enlisted; not police; males; and whites.

Soon, the “them” will include homosexuals and the “us” will include Christians.

And not just in the military.

The Banana Republik of Goldman Sucks is not only a fascist police state, but it is fiscally, morally and spiritually bankrupt.

When 69% of the American public are on the public “teat” for “free” money, we’re past the point where we can turn this Titanic around.

Nobody will vote themselves a “pay-cut.” Even the deep down realization that it won’t end well won’t change most people’s mind in this regard.

We have nobody to blame but the person in the mirror.

For example; I’ve been talking until I was blue in the face for over 30 years, attempting to convince people that voting for the lesser of two evils – is still voting for evil.

    Literally nobody would listen.

May as well have saved my breath!

This is a very important article and impacts in so many ways.
I would like to mention the CORRUPTION of Law Enforcement at all levels, Federal, State and local.

Just a few quick examples, this is how 3rd world nations operate:
Texas police shake down drivers, lawsuit claims
    * Police stop drivers, take their money and jewelry, alleged victims say
    * Drivers threatened with arrest, loss of children if they don’t pay up, plaintiffs say
    * Most targeted drivers are minorities who won’t fight back, lawyer says
    * Town, county officials deny any wrongdoing, say officers follow the law

I’m sick of hearing that everyone is corrupt. That is being spread to create a level of distrust in each other. I am a small town elected official. Most of us in our town are lower middle class. We make $75 a month for a ten hour workday. We care about our community and that’s why we work so hard. There are lots of us out there and it doesn’t help when we are being undermined by untrue statements.

  • Mr Carpenter

Sorry that the wide brush upsets you Lola, but corruption goes way deeper than government. The closer to the people the government is, and the smaller the town, the less corrupt it TENDS to be.

But to give everyone some kind of clue about how awful the corruption truly is, here is this article from Bob Chapman. He’s been watching this kind of thing for 40 or 50 years (is about 75 now, says he can’t keep this up for ever).

  • Maybe if the members of Congress took MORE time off, then they wouldn’t pass as many restrictive laws against our freedoms.

Bailouts, corruption and wars have bankrupted America, which will default on its 14 trillion in debt.

  • The ‘Peak Oil’ mantra is one of the biggest scams. There’s more oil reserves in the U.S., than there is in the rest of the world.

The elite capped most of our wells years ago when they agreed with Arab countries to buy their oil, as long as those countries bought U.S. bonds, which kept the Dollar strong.

Now that the elite are using the U.S. military (funded by the American people) to overthrow Libya, then Yemen, Jordan, Syria, and finally Saudi Arabia… those middle East oil supplies will be cut off, and they will tap the U.S. oil fields.

So all of the crap about scarcity of oil to justify high prices is simply a marketing ploy to maximize their profits.

i believe that the high price of gasoline is causing most of the problems in America. Working people cannot afford to spend 100 dollars a week on gasoline. It’s the New York city speculators going crazy bidding it higher and higher, just like they did in 2008. People quit buying clothes-stores closed up, people quit eating out at restaurants-they closed down, some people have to cut back on medicine because they need the money to buy gasoline for their car. and the politicians won’t do anything to stop these crazy-ass, out of control NYC speculators. If gasoline goes up to 10 dollars a gallon, there will be rioting in the streets of America! And it will all be the fault of these speculators. During WW2, this did not happen. There were no speculators driving up the price of gasoline, the government can do this again, or else say those who buy up contracts have to take delivery! They will drop those contracts like a hot potato! And most people don’t know this ,but, most of the fuel in the USA goes to the airline industry, it isn’t car drivers-they only use about 15% of the fuel, semi’s, construction equipment, trains, ocean liners, roofing companines, asphalt companies, use the rest.
On another note, do you notice the politicians talk about getting factory jobs back in America? Well, they are the ones who got rid of them during the Klinton administration when they passed that stupid NAFTA, which they asked or told USA factories to pack up and move to Mexico and South America and reopen there! So why would any factory want to open a factory in America for then?

  • Corruption in America is nothing new, we invented the economic hit man, war for profit etc.

When this society comes to a crashing stop we’ll all have to look at our selves and ask why we accepted it.

  • mondobeyondo

Funny how Americans think of those “little third world banana republics” as being corrupt. Maybe we should just look into our own back yard.

  • With so much real corruption between Organized Crime/Labor and Obama, you choose to cite these weak stories; not your best work…

  • This is a great post. I’ve sent it to my friend. Thank you.

  • John

No prayers for America! You have inflicted so much harm upon innocents that divine punishment is certain.

I will not be wasting any tears when your demise comes!

  • One Answer

Well, people. You have the buying power in your hands. You therefore have the power to group up and shut down any corporation you choose. Send the oil industry to the grave. Get off the oil bottle and get on the real juice, electric. Stop buying NG for your homes and that would hurt the big oil corporations. Switch to electric cars and that will put them in the toilet where they belong. That would knock out a lot of top buildergurgers of of the game fast.

  • America has had a big problem with corruption since the supreme court ruled that corporation have the same rights as natural born people.
The first rule of a corporation is that they make money, no matter what.
With that as its credo they have corrupted every institution they have come in contact with.

stupid “rule” of corporations!! Originally corporations were formed to carry out projects for the “Public Good” – oh yes!! That didn’t last long. THE FALL OF ROME/USA is happening now.

Hey people, if you really want to look at corruption and what it is doing to peoples’ freedoms; enslavement of the ‘worker’ to live poor lives the world over; the extreme weather happenings (including more earthquakes)(and NO, Mr. Gore it’s not global warming – it’s Armegeddon!) corruption in high places; etc. etc. – please stop looking at the U.S. exclusively – which is going quickly down the tubes. Look at the world in its entirety and the corruption world-wide – it spells one thing and that is that we are in the Last Days: all signs are here if you know them and boy, should we know them and study them to really know what is happening to our world. We, if we open our hearts and minds to learning something more than significant to our times in which we now live should take the time to study the WHY’s – the answers have been given to us and we should not be surprised by our new ‘age’ but ‘fighting the good fight’ to save our souls…much more important than anything else happening.

These american pigs are heavily corrupted. There are huge scandals being covered up in the sport games. There are thousands of players who change suddenly their nationality in secret in order to make money and nothing comes up. It’s impossible that the black people players are not called into the pubblic scrutiny for gambling in the sport games specially when the election of a black president took place. And who is using the black poeple are the white rich men paying them.

    Justice For Sale!
It’s not just the Mafia anymore
    It’s Chris Christie’s Fallen Promise
Legging Behind in Judicial Openness and Fairness and Justice
In the State of New Jersey today, it is not just the high property taxes that is challenging its residents. The truth, openness, fairness, and integrity of elements of judicial system are crumbling in every corner under Christie’s Administrating Umbrella as well. Literally almost from every corner of the New Jersey’s Judicial System, especially in Southern Jersey’s Sister/Brother interest comingled judicial and legal practice blending with the terms “Upper Class” and “Politically Connected”. You look into the strange and illogic Chang Nein Ho aka Mr. Ho aka Professor Ho and Pratiwi Ramatjandra and Enna Chin and Gareth De Santiago-Keene’s Happy City Chinese Restaurant ownership acquisition proceeding and their accumulated over million dollars damage civil claim right through the complicated litigation mechanism in Ocean County and its sister’s court in Monmouth County, you can find rampant Corruption obviously interweaving with the conman’s so called Upper Class and politically connected.
The victim works so hard to cripple these swindlers’ transnational and trans-jurisdictional syndicate with every capability and tool she has got to fight the fight towards judicial justice and equal access right to public resources in the State of New Jersey to unfold the Court and the swindlers’ lawless practice in business identity theft, negotiable instrument fraud, business fraud, defraud, bribing, threatening and harassing, judicial-frame-ups and litigation fraud, whereas the Christie’s supervised powerful and influential Court Officers and judges proudly conspire with the NJ Senator Attorney General Jeffry Chiesa’s Attorney General’s Office to coerce the victim via frivolous and bogus indictable criminal complaint, frivolous tickets and fines, harassing of false arresting, threatening of deportation, none-informed medical treatment, medical treatment fraud, medical insurance claim fraud, depriving private property enjoyment right, depriving small business ownership right, depriving the right to freedom to speech and to communicate, depriving the right to cross examining her accuser and her accuser’s witnesses, depriving the right to judicial justice under the Laws made by Legislative process and by Professional ethical or agency or Local Business Codes.
Prescribed Common Laws to Hail the Abused Judicial & Litigation Privilege to Murder the Innocent and Legalize Fraud and Defraud
During the recent Great American economic recovering time, “corruption” is obviously the primary resolution for the re- elected NJ Star Governor to resolve his State financial hardship or to reward his organizational supporters. And unfortunately, the Society under Christie’s major appointed Officers’ incompetent influence, the truth and faith and integrity is no longer an important element in New Jersey’s Judicial and educational system. As corruption and Privilege becomes widespread in New Jersey, trust and integrity is breaking down. It is very difficult to know which agency in the State of New Jersey to trust these days. Some agency can even alter or destroy filed records to legalize the politically connected conman swindlers fraud and defraud in front of Legislative laws and Local Business Codes! But a society cannot function well without trust. Too bad! “Sacrificing the minors to advance the major’s politically and economically obtained interest” is a new concept and surviving golden rule for New Jersey residents of new and old. The tri-ticket of Vicari-Polhemus-Synagogue is your golden key to make fortune in fraud and defraud in America. If you don’t have it, go get one. The very last time known to me, it’s for sale in Ocean County Court and its sister’s court in Monmouth County.

    I want to encourage someone:

Even if you are so rich, and have
everything you can ever imagine, you will go through hardships, you
will go through struggles in your life, whether you want to admit it or
not, you are going through some kind of struggle. And God is here to
help you just like everyone else. He is not a one-sided God, where He
won’t do it for you. If you ask, In Jesus Name, He will do the same for
    you as for others.

I am struggling with something about my house
now. And I am not rich, in fact, I don’t really have much of anything,
but I have a lot in Christ, not in man. And I am believing that God
will pay my house off in Full, Full Mortgage payment, paid in full. I
am believing that in Jesus Name. Amen. What are you believing for God
to do for you today? Even if you are rich, God can and will do it for
you also. Just trust in His Word and in Jesus, and He will never fail
you. That is one thing I can Promise to you my brothers and sisters.
    Trust in Him today.
