Are They Insane? 58 Percent Of Americans Believe Economic Conditions In The United States Will Be Good A Year From Now

There is nothing wrong with being optimistic, but there is something wrong with having blind faith that things are going to get better when all of the evidence is screaming at you that things are going to get worse.  According to a brand new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, 71 percent of all Americans consider economic conditions  in the United States to be poor right now, but an astounding 58 percent of them believe that economic conditions in the United States will be good a year from now.  So what can account for this?  Are they insane?  Are they hopelessly optimistic?  Do they not want to believe the facts that are staring them right in the face?  Well, a lot of it probably has to do with the upcoming election.  Most Republicans are convinced that things will be “better” somehow if Romney wins in November.  Most Democrats are convinced that things will “continue to improve” if Obama wins in November.  But the truth is that the economy has been declining steadily in recent years no matter which party has been in power.  Today, the American Dream is out of reach for huge numbers of formerly middle class families.  Millions of jobs continue to leave the United States, poverty is absolutely exploding and our nation is absolutely drowning in debt.  Sadly, nothing is being done to reverse the long-term economic trends that are destroying us.  So, a year from now things are not going to be any better.  In fact, many analysts are absolutely convinced that things are going to be a whole lot worse by then.

For example, just check out the following excerpt from a report that was just released by LEAP/E2020….

Thus, according to LEAP/E2020, the 2012 election year, which opens against the backdrop of economic and social depression, complete paralysis of the federal system (3), strong rejection of the traditional two-party system and a growing questioning of the relevance of the Constitution, inaugurates a crucial period in the history of the United States. Over the next four years, the country will be subjected to political, economic, financial and social upheaval such as it has not known since the end of the Civil War which, by an accident of history, started exactly 150 years ago in 1861. During this period, the US will be simultaneously insolvent and ungovernable, turning that which was the “flagship” of the world in recent decades into a “drunken boat”.

Wow, that paints a far different picture of the future than most Americans are imagining, eh?

The U.S. “will be simultaneously insolvent and ungovernable”?

That doesn’t sound very optimistic.

Gerald Celente, the head of the Trends Research Institute, is also very pessimistic about the rest of 2012.  Just consider the following quotes from a recent USA Today article….

“2012 is when many of the long-simmering socioeconomic and political trends that we have been forecasting and tracking will climax,” Celente noted in his Top 12 Trends 2012 newsletter. In an interview he added: “When money stops flowing to the man on the street, blood starts flowing in the street.”

So who is right and who is wrong?

Only time will tell.

But I think it will be very interesting to pull this article back up a year from now.

At the moment, things do not look promising for the U.S. economy….

-The percentage of Americans planning to buy a home within the next six months continues to hover near a record low.

-The U.S. trade deficit with China continues to get even larger.

-Jobs for blue collar workers continue to disappear.  In 1962, 28 percent of all jobs in America were manufacturing jobs.  In 2011, only 9 percent of all jobs in America were manufacturing jobs.  Overall, America has lost a total of more than 56,000 manufacturing facilities since 2001.

-There are not nearly enough white collar jobs for the hordes of fresh college graduates entering the marketplace.  At this point, 53 percent of all U.S. college graduates under the age of 25 are either unemployed or underemployed.

-The percentage of working age Americans that are employed continues to go down.  The following are the figures for the past three months….

February 2012: 58.6%

March 2012: 58.5%

April 2012: 58.4%

-Due to the lack of jobs, the middle class in the United States continues to shrink rapidly.

-A shocking number of Americans cannot even pay their bills at this point.  According to one recent survey, approximately one-third of all Americans are not paying their bills on time right now.

-Incomes for middle class families continue to shrink.  After adjusting for inflation, median household income in America has declined by 7.8 percent since December 2007.

-Meanwhile, the prices of the things we all buy month after month continue to go up.  In fact, if inflation was measured the exact same way that it was back in 1980, the annual rate of inflation would be more than 10 percent right now.

-Millions of American families are experiencing a massive amount of pain at the pump.  Since Barack Obama entered the White House, the price of gasoline has risen by more than 100 percent.

-As the middle class shrinks, the number of Americans on welfare continues to explode.  Back in November 2008, 30.8 million Americans were on food stamps.  Today, more than 46 million Americans are on food stamps.

-But this is not just a short-term trend.  The truth is that dependence on the federal government has been rising for decades.  But in recent years it has accelerated dramatically.  In a previous article, I detailed the incredible growth of social welfare benefits that we have seen under both Republicans and Democrats….

Back in 1960, social welfare benefits made up approximately 10 percent of all salaries and wages.  In the year 2000, social welfare benefits made up approximately 21 percent of all salaries and wages.  Today, social welfare benefits make up approximately 35 percent of all salaries and wages.

-The federal government is propping up the economy with unprecedented amounts of government debt.  Sadly, the U.S. national debt has risen by more than 5 trillion dollars since the day that Barack Obama first took office.  In a little more than 3 years Obama has added more to the national debt than the first 41 presidents combined.

-In many ways, the U.S. is already in worse shape than Europe is.  At this point, the United States has more government debt per capita than Greece, Portugal, Italy, Ireland or Spain.

So remind me again why things are going to get better?

The only reason why the economy has not collapsed already is because of unprecedented borrowing by the federal government and unprecedented money printing by the Federal Reserve.  But those emergency measures cannot last indefinitely.

So it is absolutely insane to expect economic conditions in the United States to improve.

The truth is that they are a lot better right now than they should be.  Once the federal government quits injecting more than a trillion borrowed dollars into the economy every single year things are going to look a lot different.

Instead of preparing for things to get better, the American people should be preparing for things to get worse.

So what do you think?

Do you think that economic conditions will be better a year from now or worse?

Feel free to post a comment below with your thoughts….

As the world economy collapses the USD becomes the “safe haven”. The justification apparently is, “well it’s always been that way”. That “safe haven” strategy is a hold over from the Bretton Woods days of the USD being backed by gold at $35 an Oz. The “Oil Peg” being a poor substitute for Bretton Woods is still better then the EURO having essentially nothing but faith in an oh so obvious unfaithful environment.

Europe is on fire so they move their wealth to where it’s only smoldering. There are no plans to put out the fires everywhere.

We can’t predict when a collaspe will happen. We do understand from reading history that on our present path a collaspe will come our way. Since I don’t get to control anything except my finances,I will continue to prepare for a diffcult future. I will continue to buy whole wheat berries in #10 cans since we grind our own flour. I will keep on stocking up on dry pack foods that have a shelf life of 25 years or more. I will keep on expanding my garden so that if I need a much larger one it will be ready. These are some of the type of actions we can take and control in our lives. We all know that the government will not at this point cut off the welfare checks, as the riots would be more than they could handle. They will keep on coming, but will purchase less over time. The only thing saving us is that we stink less than Europe, but our economy does stink.

    • Congrat’s Mark on taking action to be prepared!

The items that will be invaluable after a financial collapse can be purchased fairly cheap right now.

Stock up on wheat, rice, pasta, coffee, salt, toiletries, seeds, coconut oil, sugar, honey, peanut butter, etc..

These basics will be great for trading in the future.

      • Don’t forget the Tide! It may still be a “hot” item.

“-There are not nearly enough white collar jobs for the hordes of fresh college graduates entering the marketplace.  At this point, 53 percent of all U.S. college graduates under the age of 25 are either unemployed or underemployed.”

Just last week, the community college in MY town had its graduation ceremony. That’s something like 500 new people in the workforce, from just ONE COLLEGE! I can only imagine how many other colleges there are in this country, or how many other students are gonna graduate and be left without ****** to do with their degrees!!!!

Expect the unemployment rate to SHOOT UP once summer vacation is in full swing.

    • Alyssa

That’s been taken care of. They are not counted as unemployed, same as any who exhaust UI benefits. They fall off the face of the Earth. Problem solved, nothing to see here.

All income, regardless of its form or origin, should be taxed at the same rate. And what we need is more of a Robin Hood think: take from the rich and give to the poor. That was one of the principles of the founding fathers, which is why traditionally inheritances were taxed quite heftily. Every generation should build up and earn their living anew. Today, thanks to right-wing tax cuts for the rich, the kids of the rich get born with a golden spoon in their mouth. And citing a famous book title: The rich get richer and the poor get prison.
So where is the level playing field many of the conservatives are always talking about? Ah yes, their leveling is cutting social aid so that the military can buy more weapons to bomb Afghani civilians to death. Assuming they can fit that in between all the gay bashing.

    • MisterC

“Every generation should build up and earn their living anew”
That is one of the planks of the communist manifesto, the end of inheritance. Showing your true colors again I see.
PS- Tell you kids that you will leave them nothing and let us know how they respond.

I never tried to hide that I would prefer the country move to the left.

Evil Communist/Socialist dictators who promise hope and change by raising taxes on the rich love stupid gullible people like Gary2. What happens is that the evil Communist/Socialist dictators and their cronies end up controlling all the wealth while the poor underclass waits for meager handouts.

The Dumbing Down of America isn’t just a phrase. I know this will irritate some but come on now they had to be liberal’s still filled with false hope because the only change we got was for the worse. Not one Libertarian or Conservative I know believes things will be better.

“Do you think that economic conditions will be better a year from now or worse?”

Worse. Politicians will do what they believe is necessary to keep office through the path of least resistance, and this tends to be to result in enhanced borrowing and spending. This is why Hyperinflation is definitely a possibility as it tends to be political motivated through political expediency. Academia or Academics particularly in this era of Keynesianism will also print and cause conflict to justify such measures.

When you come down to it, the stripping of civil liberties and transition into civil privileges is derived underlining concept such actions enable central planners to more readily and easily pursue interventionism and achieve the desired effect. The downside is that such Collectivism also dictates individual rights, liberties, and freedoms must become privileges at the discretion of the state.

At this point, the question probably isn’t if the situation will get worse but whether there is anyone willing to undergo a short or prolonged period of financial pain?
If you vote short-term pain, you really shouldn’t agree with the present course direction regardless of the R, I, D for party affiliation.
If you vote prolonged pain, we’re already on that path.
My 2 cents for what it’s worth

  • Imaplaneiac

Oops – make that ” uninformed ” or misinformed, in my previous post.

  • According to the word of God, economically, things are not going to get better. In James 5:1-3

1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. 3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

We are in the last days, and this economic crisis is preparing the way for the implementation of the mark of the beast. Revelation 13:17
“And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

    • Agreed Godfrey, the Money Masters who control the world’s wealth are heaping upon themselves the wrath of God. Their physical riches will be worth nothing.

In Revelation 3:18 Jesus advised us to become spiritually rich, “I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich.”

You mentioned the coming mark of the beast. What do you think the mark is?

      • Gary2

see if everyone just listened to me and taxed the rich hard and spread the wealth they would not be rich and therefore not be on the receiving end of Gods wrath. I really feel like I am doing missionary work when I say tax the rich and spread the wealth.

      • Maryann

The mark of the beast is a micro chip implanted in everyone’s arm.. like our dogs have now. Are you going to accept it?

    • Nexus789

      The word of who?

  • Where would we go?

    • 80 percent of Americans live in large cities. So when the economy collapses, you don’t want to live in large cities, because there will be mass rioting and looting, and they will be controlled with martial law.

Joel Skousen wrote a great book called “Strategic Relocation: North American Guide to Safe Places”, which offers an in-depth analysis of North America’s safest places to live. Here’s the link

If you must stay, seek to live on the outskirts of the city. This reduces your exposure significantly and allows you to potentially escape to a more rural area.

Make an escape plan, with alternative routes, as the major highways will become parking lots as the masses try to get out.

Just realize that if you stay in the city, you may not be able to get out, so prepare accordingly to have food, water, heat, fire, etc.. and be prepared to defend yourself.

      • Michelle

        Love Joel skousen’s book!

      • Ken

  • This means that the majority of people are not preparing, so they will be devastated when the economy collapses and the supply pipeline shuts down.

So not only do you have to prepare so that you have food, water, and supplies for your family to survive…

but you need to be able to protect yourself from the ignorant masses who will be desperate for food and water, and will causing rioting and looting on a mass scale. :-(

    • Chris

I am not sure all this prepping is going to be any good at all. If you survive the armed gangs (and dogs) and desperate individuals who will seek you out day and night because you are still alive and therefore must have food and water you will then have to survive all the diseases flourishing because of corpses in the streets and water channels. The authorities probably have records of everyone who has bulk ordered food and ammo supplies from ‘prepping companies’ and so when 95% of the population has killed each other or starved to death etc they could simply send in suitable forces to round up the survivors (and their supplies) and intern them in camps, for their own good of course. These internees could then provide a pool of slave labour willing to work for food or be ‘disposed of’.

      • Hey Chris, good thing this country wasn’t founded by people like you.

There’s been many difficult times in this country, but the heroes stepped forward and fought for freedom.

I’d rather die fighting for what’s right, than to just give up and let evil prevail.

btw… I’ve read the end of the book… the evil guys DON’T win.

      • You’re right Chris, it’s going to get ugly, there will be many challenges to overcome, and the unprepared won’t survive long.

Survival is about mindset first and foremost, and based on your response, you have no hope.

Their mind control tactics have worked really well.

The evil elite love people like you, who won’t put up any resistance. You’ll make a nice slave for them. :-o

      • Michelle

Of course there is no guarentee, but it isn’t reason to not do anything at all. Do the best you can to prepare and then let it go. You’ve done what you can.

  • Ed_B

“The only reason why the economy has not collapsed already is because of unprecedented borrowing by the federal government and unprecedented money printing by the Federal Reserve.”

To this I would add that the Fed has ruthlessly crushed seniors with minuscule interest rates that no longer allow them to live off of the interest on their bonds and CDs. Many of these folks are burning through their life savings now just to buy food, medicine, heat, and light. By pushing interest rates relentlessly lower and holding them at all time lows for extended periods, the myth of a solvent US government is perpetuated. If interest rates were now at a typical level they would be 4% or so. That would require about 16x more money to service the national debt than is paid today with the current 0.25% interest rate.

Once Europe collapses, the US will not be far behind. Our banks and other businesses are far too integrated with those of Europe not to feel terrible financial pain right along with Europe. As the financial derivative bubble begins to pop, there will be widespread financial and government panic. This will almost immediately descend into desperation to maintain the status quo and control of large populations. This may be possible in Europe, where the population is largely unarmed, but not in the US. Unlike the last civil war here, this one will not be between the northern and southern states but between the federal government and the patriots of the USA.

I am waiting for the student loan debt bubble to explode. Today, on Dylan Ratigan, the host was talking about the growing debt crisis faced by college students when they graduate. These students will be saddled with a lifetime debt, and will be working at a lower wage than their predecessors because of the economy. For the current generation of students, based on historical trend lines, they will be earning less money over their working careers. The Occupy College movement is having students wearing ball and chains to graduation ceremonies, and they have produced a music video.

    Occupy College web site:

The situation is growing so dire that some students are questioning whether they should continue their education to graduation and leave college with a large debt load, or quit now and attempt to find a job now with a smaller debt load. Regardless of their choices, the students will never be able to declare bankruptcy on a student loan debt.

The crisis has long term implications. For our country to succeed, we need to have 25 million students graduate in 2025. Unfortunately, a study released in April 2012 estimated that our country will miss this goal by 24 million. The cost to our country will be a loss in revenue of $600 billion a year.

Then there is the time to reach full employment in this country. They are now estimating 14 years at the rate we are now at, and this is optimistic. The labor force of this country is shrinking.

So, to answer your question, no in the short term and no in the long term.

  • Colin
  • I believe that the shadow government takes polls to gauge how the masses are reacting.

Based on the data, their mind control techniques are working like a charm.

People are so focused on the battle between the puppets, Obama vs. Romney, Democrats vs. Republicans, that they don’t look at what the Puppet Masters are doing, which is enslaving our country, so that they will own everything, including everyone’s home unless it’s paid off.

Forget about the idiots in Washington, focus on the bankers who control the U.S.

Mayer Anschel Rothschild said “Let me issue and control a nation’s money and I care not who write the laws.”

N.M. Rothschild (London – Bank of England) owns 52% of the Federal Reserve.

They’ve enslaved us with 5 Trillion more debt since their puppet Obama took over.

During a partial audit of the Federal Reserve, the Government Accountability Office found that between the period of December 2007 and June 2010, the Federal Reserve had secretly bailed out many of their their banks, with a total of 16 Trillion Dollars.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a Democrat vs. Republican in the White House. Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr., Obama… they’re all controlled by the elite and they’ve all done their part to sell us out and remove our freedoms.

    Romney will be no different.

Until people understand that the bankers control the government and the media, they won’t have a clue about the future.

  • Colin

Here is another article on the student loan crisis:

Some facts jumped at me from the article.

    * In 1993, 45% of students had student loans. In 2012, 94% of students had student loans.
    * 1 out of every 10 students defaulted on a student loan in two years.
    * From 2002 to 2012, state budgets have cut their spending on higher education by 25%. This difference is being paid for by the students.

If the US Senate doesn’t pass a student loan bill, the Stafford loan rate will increase to 6.8%. This will translate for the 7 million students who have a Stafford loan an increase of $1000.00 on their student loans per a year.

I see what is happening with the college system as part of a larger campaign by the politicians to weaken our educational system, and this will have long term implications for our economy.

There is a 99% chance that economic conditions in the U.S. in May of 2013, will be worse than they are right now, in May of 2012.

If I had a farm, I’d bet it. It’s way better than buying the farm.

[har-dee-harrrr] See ya at the Improv….

  • A concerned young AmeriCan Patriot

I recently saw a sign in my town where “99%ers” were holding signs saying socialism is the answer. It is not, it is the problem, too many people believe they should just get handouts from those better off then them. This removes incentive from the “haves” to work, as they are having their money siphoned off from them at an alarming rate. This puts a larger burden on those who continued working, and removes their incentive to do so. This continues until everyone is sitting around doing nothing, because no one wants to break their back so someone also who’s doing nothing can reap the rewards. This is why socialism never works. “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of someone else’s money.”

Also, Gary2, I would like to have a civilized debate with you, no demonizing of me, and I shall not demonize you. Pick the topic. Anyone else feel free to comment as well. Also Michael, thanks for the articles, I have already shown some close-minded liberals the other side of the story, and agree now that the mainstream media version is bull

This country is on life support – just a matter of time. Obviously there are plenty of people willing to listen to the lies from Wall St and DC. This country is working overtime on a “trickle up” theory – there will be no middle class, only a world full of Bob Cratchits.

A year from now?????……heck, the USA will be lucky to emerge into 2013 just 7 and 1/2 months from now. Europe is crumbling right now, national election in Nov, sequestration for the budget, debt ceiling, terrorism by DHS and the TSA, Fema camps at the ready, the US military at the ready to wage war on Americans…..Americans will be lucky to make it into 2013 outside of a concentration camp ably commanded by Napolitano and Pistole and Meuller.

  • MountainHome

Please….keep the real news in front of us so we can see what is really happening.

Remember, USA is pro-Obama in it’s reporting so one would have to see who they interviewed and how the question was asked. I don’t trust USATODAY.

  • i’vegivenup

Blind stupidity runs amuck in this country. The sheeple believe what they hear in the main stream media (I am speaking of those that haven’t been affected by this depression…YET). They are more concerned about if their baseball team is in first pace…or who will win American Idol…or what they will do on their vacation or what new car they want to buy. They all think things will “work itself out”. Anyone who feels optimistic about the future are just…well…IGNORANT….

    • Yeah, the elite have control of the media and do a great job at keeping Americans mesmerized with all of the ‘supposed’ reality shows, all the while they hide the ‘reality’ of what is truly going on.

They own Reuters and the Associate Press, which delivers their version of the news to the world and suppress the news they don’t want you to know.

They own the major cable news networks (Fox News, CNN, MSNBC), newspapers, magazines (Time, Life, Fortune), to control the message and to shape our beliefs.

They control TV and movie production studios to mold our thoughts. They use subliminal messaging to send suggestions directly into our subconscious.

They use popular news and radio talk show hosts to spread disinformation and to ridicule alleged conspiracy theories.

And they have ‘controlled opposition’ agents on TV and radio like Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, who position themselves as advocates for our rights, but they aren’t telling you the truth about who is behind the problems. They simply point to the puppets instead of identifying the true Puppet Masters.

In 1981, CIA Director William Casey said, “We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.”

      Mission Accomplished! :-P

    • I’ve done a lot of research and I am very informed… and I’m optimistic about the future… because the bad guys don’t win the battle. :-)

Jesus will destroy the evil men who plot against our freedom and they are just heaping up the wrath of God against them.

Psalm 91 says “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.

He shall cover you with His feathers,
      And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,

Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
      And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.

Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

      No evil shall befall you,
      Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.”

Unfortunately most people believe the economy follows a cyclical path, and what has gone down must surely go back up. They use this simple belief in place of detailed information (like the kind provided on this website – thanks, Michael!) about what’s truly happening. What they don’t understand is that it’s now a structural change, not a cyclical one, and even when finally it should be incredibly obvious to all, they will not want to face it because doing so will be too painful.

I also recall we went through the same sort of delusion four years ago. Most people seemed to believe that the economy would quickly come back, and either presidential candidate (being miracle workers, of course – why else would they have been selected as the candidates of their parties?) could do the job, and the only question was which one could do it best. No one wanted to hear that neither candidate then (or now) will repair the economy, that it’s much too big for either of them to have any positive effect, that in any case they work for the special interests who give them generous amounts of “campaign contributions” (oh, let’s be honest and call them what they are – big, fat bribes) so they do not have the interests of the general population in mind, and people should prepare for the worst.

Naturally, that went over like the proverbial lead balloon, but it was true.

Sign me up for the next space flight to Planet Pollyanna!

Oh wait, NASA’s out of the manned spaceflight business.
    Looks like we’re screwed.

    • Michael

Planet Pollyanna – that made me smile. :)

  • Cinderella Man

Normalcy bias continues to disgusts me. Continue to bury your heads in the sand you dumb naive sheeple! Whenever I post articles like this on Facebook nobody reads them its as if they hate seeing the truth. But no matter how hard you ignore the problem its not going to go away just because you deny it exists! I tell people over and over but they just refuse to see it. Those are the ones I somewhat pity but on the other hand, If you want to keep being blind aint nothing I can do for you son, to quote Rooster Cogburn!

    • I hear you Cinderella Man. Don’t let the ignorant and apathetic deter you. Keep telling people the truth.

People are on Facebook to socialize and share, not to find the brutal reality of truth, so it’s not a great forum unless you target your audience to FB groups that are seeking answers.

A small percentage of the population is looking for the truth, and those are the people who will listen to you.

The rest are lost and there’s not much you can do for them.

Look at 9/11. Most people still believe that it was Muslim terrorists who caused it, because they don’t want to know the TRUTH about who was really behind it.

This page helps people logically see the truth for themselves, so that they can see that it was not an Islamic terrorist attack.

  • Tim

I don’t see how. Unless they find about $50 trillion worth of sunken treasure off the coasts of the Outer Banks. :-)

  • Rowell

Sadly, Americans have been dumbed down. They’ve been taught to seek the warmth of the television to keep them safe with whispers of “everything is going to be okay”. They believe what their political party tells them. They believe that “This is the United States of America, the greatest nation in the world, and it will never, ever fall” while they sit on their duffs, swill beer, insult their neighbors, buy more crap online with their maxxed out credit card while eating foods filled with lard and sugar.

Sadly, the typical American is not at all suited for the harsh times coming up. They’ve never lived through a depression (not unless they’re over 80 years old). They’ve come to rely on the government to take care of them, or hiring some company to do the hard work, or going down to the Walmart to buy some cheap Chinese product to do the job.

You could tell them about the coming tough times. You can show them reams of facts and data that show where the country is headed. You can show examples from past nations that have fallen for the same reasons. They won’t believe you…because this is America, we’re too strong and too noble to fall.

Sadly, they’re deluded and misguided, and thoroughly unprepared. They say that ignorance is bliss. I say it is, until you’re forced to face reality when you have no roof over your head, no food in your belly, no money in your pocket and no prospects in your future.

    • Agreed Rowell! 80% of Americans live in large cities and are totally dependant on the pipeline of food, water, fuel, etc., so when the economy collapses and these supplies shut down, they are in serious trouble.

You’re right, Americans have become complacent, because our country has been so great for so many years, that they take it for granted.

And they’ve stood idly by, while the minority has taken control of the country’s money supply, government, banks, energy, etc.

You can’t help the ignorant and apathetic, but don’t let that stop you from helping those that are seeking the truth and will fight for freedom.

Our country needs courageous leaders now more than ever to show people the light.

Hey Michale, when are you going to do an article about the evils of child support? That is a major part of the entitlement society that many conservatives claim against.

    • Michael

Do you have any good links that would help me get started on research for that topic?

    • Cinderella Man

Evils of child support? If you cant be a man and take care of your own dont have kids and expect the rest of us to take care of them! If you cant feed em dont breed em! There are already too many worthless deadbeat dads out there and Im tired of picking up your slack! Ever hear of condoms?

      • J.M

Deadbeat dads in most cases are a myth, remember that most (70~90%) of all divorces are initiated by women and women by no standards today are paragons of virtue, being as likely to cheat as a man. Moreover women are the gatekeepers of sex so unless yo9u are talking of rape women decide whom, under what circumstances, where and how sex happens so most of the responsability for those little creatures belongs to them. If they decide to mate with someone that looks like 50 cents no law will fix that. It´s disgenics in action. There was a reason why you members of the anglosphere should have never decided to destroy the model of father-led families that was the common tradition of the west until now.

      • J.M

By the way child support like most forms of welfare subsidizes bad behaviour of females, there are many families who under the right circumstances would like to adopt, normal heterosexual families that is; of course the child protection must be ensured but No one today checks if the child support money is used for the children anyway and not to fuel the mother´s desires….

  • A concerned young AmeriCan Patriot

If our founders saw us now, they would not recognize what the dream of freedom has turned into. They would be horrified, to say the least, especially when the people, who are guaranteed their God given right to govern themselves by the constitution, seek to destroy the constitution as we know it because it is “outdated.” In all truth, it is the very ideas of those who claim they can “change” and “save” us that are driving us down into a **************. Anyone who dares to defy the system is a “troublemaker,” even if all they did to defy the system was bring a bible into school, and cross themselves, while not forcing it on others.
Did not happen to me, happened at my friend’s highschool. Also to mention, a kid in that same class was Muslim and was allowed to pray the 5 times a day they do. There definitely seems to be an anti-Christian sentiment in this country. All of the liberals were up in arms when the Marines burned the quarans, even though there was proof that the taliban was using them as a secret message system.. Yet there was no publicity given to the fact that the army burned bibles, most people don’t even know about that “incident.”

  • Paul BpPP

The sector my wife is working in is actually experiencing a shortage of workers. For her, the economy is in fine shape. And this is not unreasonable given the local view she has of things (and the poor record of predicting economic health in the media). So I wouldn’t sneer too much at people who have a too-optimistic viewpoint. Most people are not experts in political economy, nor are they economists (and even if they were, chances are they’d be Keynesians). When the Empire crashes, these people will learn the real truth soon enough. They will learn that national governments are very capable of ruining their own economies, no matter how good it might look locally.

  • F.L. Maeker

The only answer to the world’s problems is
the return of Jesus Christ on May 27 (Pentecost) to set up the Father’s government. Man has proven that he does not
know how to rule himself. God gave us 6000 years to prove that. At every turn man has failed, soon we will have peace on this earth, but WW111 will come first. Jesus Christ is coming as a lion this time & not as the lamb that came before.

    • T.M.

Date setting is unbiblical. The return of Jesus Christ is the blessed hope of Christians, but anyone who claims to know the date of the Lord’s return is deceived. You would do well to ignore those types of Christians. And there are lots of them. Read your bible and talk to the Lord. God speaks to his people today through His word. Anyone claiming to have an extra-biblical revelation from God is a liar. Peace.

    • F.L. Maeker, you say that Jesus is coming back on the 27th of May, but then you say that WWIII has to happen first.

If you mean May 28, 2012, then I guess they better start that war real soon, because we don’t want to delay the return of Jesus. :-)

Seriously dude, we’ve all had enough predictions about when Jesus will return, and then when it doesn’t happen, it turns people off to Christianity.

  • The answer to that rhetorical question
“are they insane?” is obviously “YES!”

More interesting questions are HOW and WHY the vast majority of Americans became so insane. I believe that tragic trajectory can be understood relatively easily by looking at the history of war.

The oldest book on the Art of War starts by saying success in war is based on deceits, and ends by saying that spies are the most important soldiers. Thousands and years of that history has created the state we are in now!

    Consider the truism, that Heraclitus
stated “War is the Father and King.”

Now consider another truism that gradually information has become more important than power. Thermodynamics gradually blended into information theory. Therefore, we gradually evolved from the historical situations where “War is King” to the current social situation: “FRAUD IS KING.”

That explains HOW and WHY the vast majority of Americans gradually become more and more insane! It explains why civilization is headed towards psychotic breakdowns! When social systems were based on violence, backed up with lies, then they will still based on reality. However, as social systems gradually evolved to be primarily based on lies, backed up with violence, instead of primarily based on violence backed up with lies, then those social situations gradually became less and less real.

When FRAUD IS KING, then the whole society is being controlled by Huge Lies, throughout every aspect that one examines! The consequences of that are that people gradually adapt by becoming more and more insane.

About a year and a half ago, some dumbass flag-waving neocon freak down south took offense at this site and Michael T. Snyder’s other site, The Economic Collapse. As Dumbass Flag-Waving Neocon Freak saw it, talking about how incredibly messed up this country has become is unpatriotic—and true patriots, in his mind, knew that the American economy was going to come back stronger than ever. But here we are, a year and a half later without the economic miracle that Dumbass Flag-Waving Neocon Freak thought was right around the corner. The Banana Republic of America (formerly Gli Stati Uniti) is in deep trouble, and the true patriots are not the neocon imperialists; the ones who aren’t afraid to tell it like it is are the true patriots, and that includes Michael T. Snyder. It also includes Alex Jones, Gerald Celente, Ron Paul, Justin Raimondo and Paul Craig Roberts.

The BRA’s economy is not improving. Empires are not sustainable, and that includes the BRA. Things will only get worse for millions and millions of Americans as the BRA continues to rot, decay and collapse.

“If you’ve studied Rome, you know that wealthy nations do collapse into Third World squalor when they allow their currency to be debased.”—Alex Jones

“It is becoming increasingly impossible in America to get a good job without being connected to the system that serves the elites.”—Paul Craig Roberts

“Los Estados Unidos is turning into a banana republic.”—Gerald Celente

“The World Health Organization calculates that one in four people in the United States suffers from chronic anxiety, a mood disorder or depression—which seems to me to be a normal reaction to our march toward collective suicide. Welcome to the asylum.”—Chris Hedges

“How can a country have a world empire when it can’t finance its domestic budget? It’s not possible.”—Paul Craig Roberts

“If you’ve studied Rome, you know that wealthy nations do collapse into Third World squalor when they allow their currency to be debased.”—Alex Jones

“If you want to get into a good entrepreneurial business, guillotines may be in fashion.”—Gerald Celente

Welcome to the neocon insane asylum. Welcome to The Banana Republic of America, collapsing empire of the Third World.

    • Michelle

I still love my country, just not those that run things for the rest of us. It really is messed up …. FUBAR’ed big time.

  • Kevin

People have a need to believe because the alternative is too nasty to think about. It’s a mental path of least resistance.

    • That is the truth Kevin, because the truth of the grand deception is really nasty :-(

I put together a list of ways that the elite have taken control of our money, government, banks, financial markets, the Central Banks of every country including the Federal Reserve, our energy sources, our leaders, the media, people’s mind, people’s body through the sickcare system, our freedom, even our religions…

to move us towards a one-world financial system, one-world government and the one-world religion of their god Lucifer.

It’s a shocking list of information and quotes from our founding fathers warning us about all of this… and yet we still let it happen.

President James Madison warned us that “If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the GUISE of fighting a foreign enemy.”

How right he was when it comes to 9/11 and the CIA/MI5/Mossad trained and controlled Al-Qaeda Islamic Terrorists

Will the economy be better a year from now? It will be if Romney is elected. Not that he is especially smart but his one saving grace is that he is not Barry
Hussein Obama. Lots of businesses are sitting on cash because they are afraid about extra costs Obama will inflict on them with an extra four years of
Playing golf and admitting he sometimes forgets how bad many people have
It. But in 2016 a Romney economy will be only slightly better than an Obama economy only in the sense that the Kansas City Royals have been a better baseball team the last 15 years than the Pittsburgh Pirates. They have, but they have been lousy.

Even if we had done things right, we would still be facing a downturn due to the baby boomer bulge in our population retiring. But we haven’t. Both parties over the last 50 years refused to save for a rainy day. And a hard rain’s gonna fall.

    • i’vegivenup

Things would not get better for the 99% if Romney was elected. It is impossible for a man worth well over $200M to relate to the trials and tribulations of the shrinking middle class and poor. He would cater only to the rich including Wall Street bankers and corporate America. Just like W and Obama…he would continue to crush the working class!

Yes, they are insane, not to mention on disability, which although most are not disabled and are essentially disability fund cheats, they will collect said benefits until they die……

  • Kathy

So – why do we assume these polls are true?
    Gov election vote counts falsified…..
MSM running every type of manipulation under the sun…

Sheeple want to think like other sheeple – they don’t want to be the odd one out. So if a poll says the majority of (sheeple) think a particular way about a particular thing – it effectively ‘encourages’ that particular agenda.

And anyway, didn’t you know – 60% of statistics are made up on the spot.

  • Regdan

Hi. I from Russia. Can tell that at you occurs? Excuse for mistakes.

  • Lisa

The USA is a ticking time bomb. Enough said.

    • Regdan

What bomb? At us it is good. I read everything that here write I can not understand why at you it is so bad. We in Russia know about the USA a little.

  • Yep. It’s still good.
