65 Year Old Woman With A Gun Chases Off 5 Armed Robbers

In Garden Grove, California the other day, a 65 year old woman with a gun chased 5 armed criminals out of her jewelry store.  The video of this amazing incident (posted below) is quite funny, but it also demonstrates a very serious point.  The streets of many of our largest cities are slowly but surely being transformed into a living hell as our society rots from the inside out.  The criminals are always going to have plenty of guns.  If we have no way to defend ourselves, then many of us will be at the mercy of the criminals.  For example, imagine what would have happened if those 5 armed robbers had invaded her home at night?  Without a gun, what could that 65 year old woman have done?  The best she could hope for is that the criminals would take whatever they wanted and would not do any violence to her or to her family.  Of course the police would show up later and “take a report”, but the police would not be able to undo any of the damage that the crooks had already done.  This is especially true when it comes to violence against women.  You can always replace your possessions, but you can never undo a sexual assault or a rape.  America is being absolutely overrun by psychos these days, and if you don’t have a gun how in the world are you going to keep a pack of criminals from having their way with you or with members of your family?  I realize that is a very disturbing thing to think about, but these are dark times that we are living in.  As society continues to fall apart we are going to see home invasions because more twisted and more horrifying than ever before.


Without a gun, the 65 year old woman in the video below and her employees would have been at the mercy of whatever the criminals wanted to do.

Hopefully the criminals would have just grabbed a bunch of jewelry and left the store, but you never know.

The following is a description of this incident from the Los Angeles Times….

The attempted heist occurred Sunday at Continental Jewelry in the 12000 block of Brookhurst Street. Surveillance footage from the store shows a white SUV backing up to the front of the building and five men getting out, pillowcases in hand.

The men rush to the front of the counter and point handguns at the clerks and a customer. Seconds later the shots are fired and the men race back to the door, fighting to get out as the woman runs after them.

Sadly, in the wake of the recent shootings in Aurora, Colorado there is all kinds of talk in the mainstream media about the need to ban guns.

But the truth is that crime always seems to go up in U.S. cities where guns are banned.

Just look at Chicago, Illinois.

Strict gun laws were supposed to greatly reduce crime in Chicago, but today Chicago is being called “the deadliest global city“.

If you look outside of the United States you see similar results.

A recent article by Mac Slavo of shtfplan.com contained some statistics about how crime has risen in Australia since guns were banned….

Armed Robberies are UP 69%

Assaults Involving Guns are UP 28%

Gun Murders are UP 19%

Well, what about areas where gun ownership has been allowed to flourish?

The following is from a recent article by my friend J. Vanne in which he detailed how guns have helped to reduce crime in many areas of the United States….

As a matter of fact, Gun Owners of America, cites statistics indicating guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense, or around 80 times a day (other statistics estimate this number could range as low as 1.5 million, but either number is a lot!). This includes 200,000 women a year using guns to defend themselves against sexual abuse. As a matter of fact, as of 2008, armed citizens killed more violent bad guys than the police (1,527 vs. 606).

It appears George Washington had it right, when he said “The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good.”

What about concealed carry?

Statistics from the recent past show states that passed concealed carry reduced their murder rate by 8.5%, rapes by 5% and robbery by 3%. Florida, which passed concealed carry in 1987, saw its higher than average homicide rate drop 52% during the following 15 years after passage, to below the national average.

The criminals are always going to be able to get guns.

This has been proven over and over and over.

But if criminals know that they are likely to get shot if they commit a crime, then that is going to make them a lot more hesitant to do so.

In addition, gun ownership is not just about preventing crime and it is not just about hunting either.

Our founding fathers felt very strongly about gun ownership for some very fundamental reasons that Ben Swann detailed in a recent “Reality Check” segment about the Second Amendment….

    It appears that when confronted with an armed defense these criminals most often high tail it. I doubt if they can shoot accurately in most cases with the cool “street grip” of holding the weapon sideways.

        It’s awesome how lippy Americans are on anonymous internet sites. In the conflagrations to come, it would be wonderful if just once the witty talkers and internet Charles Bronsons could keep their underwear undamaged long enough after the shooting starts to actually do something useful rather than freezing in place and blocking line of sight, or falling into the fetal and blocking free ingress/egress.

        But of course that’s not going to happen is it? Instead you’ll whine for police and trust that everything they do when they arrive is ethical and legal, until they beat your head in too just like those you ridicule here and it’ll be time once again for a celebrity sing-along and national discourse. Bah.

    Self defense, defense of family, and defense of property is a natural right. This is true even if one is agnostic or an atheist. If one believes in God, then this natural right comes from God.

    Let me explain:

    All animals defend themselves, their family, and their territory without exception (unless you consider a Possum, who plays dead, which I guess is a form of defense).

    One doesn’t enter a pig pen with a sow and her piglets…she’ll come after you. Same way with bears, bulls, cows, birds, and so on. A cougar defends his territory from incursion from other cougars. And so it is in the natural kingdom of animals. It’s in their DNA as well as ours. That’s the way life is.

    It’s only logical then, that we have a right of self defense too. And there are many tools to accomplish this. Knifes, clubs, ball bats,fists, and of course firearms. One only has to look at England several years ago when riots broke out….you couldn’t beg, borrow, or steal an aluminum baseball bat, because they were bought up as people desperately sought a way to defend themselves.

    The reason the 2nd Amendment is so important is that if we have no guns and only government agencies have guns, we won’t have a reliable way of defending ourselves against them if they get out of control. I think one has a natural right to defend oneself from law enforcement or a government who is trying to kill you….if you are law abiding and have done nothing wrong. Of course, they can make whatever they want illegal. Indiana recently passed a law affirming that right. How many times have we read where law enforcement in full SWAT gear raids the wrong house in the middle of the night and kill dogs and people? More than one for sure.

    If my house gets raided like that I’m going to defend myself. I probably will not have to do that in our county, because we have a great Sheriff. He laid off one Deputy because he considers our county self regulating as we’re pretty good about policing ourselves. However, that doesn’t mean that Federal authorities might not come in.

    The only reason for “common sense gun control” is to eventually take away our right to defend ourselves. We will then become totally dominated and controlled by the politically elite government.

    Don’t let that happen.

    I plan on buying a gun before it is too late. One thing to add regarding Chicago is that the Mayor pleaded with the criminals not to hurt anymore defenseless citizens.

      No. Its time to ban the NRA and restrict the ownership of guns to hunting rifles and shotguns which hold three shells.
      When I was a kid, my shotgun had to have a plug which restricted the magazine.
      Take out the plug in your home if you wished by God help you if you were caught outside with five shells in the magazine.
      Its just common sense.
      Its the NRA and the gun makers who keep this going.

        Well, Doc, those rifles you see on sale aren’t real AK47s; they’re semi-automatic rifles that superficially resemble AK47s, but they’re not full autos. The fact they can hold a 30 round magazine means nothing. You could be just as easily in danger if you faced a person with a single shot 12 gauge or a homemade shank or a hammer.

        The gun isn’t the problem, the person behind it is. And as long as people want to hurt other people, they will find ways to carry out their plans. You’ll note Holmes also had bombs and boobytraps in his apartment. I think those are illegal, so where did he get those-the bomb and boobytrap store? If Holmes had mixed legal household chemicals together to make chlorine gas and released it into a mall, injuring and killing a few dozen people, would you also want to ban household chemicals? If he had run down a couple dozen people at the county fair, would you also call for banning cars? Yeah, sure you would. You need to get over your irrational fear of scary-looking weapons.

        BTW-with crime on the rise, will you buy a weapon or just protest that other people own them?

    Funny how you all love guns, but yet, somehow, the colorado shooter brought these weapons legally at these gun shows. But wait, if a black person buys these type of guns, we will be arrested on the spot by the police. Why do you all need thousands of rounds of ammunition and yet, when minorities buy them, police have us on data bases? The problem is very simple, the police is allowing this to happen, some of these people are informants that are allowed to commit crimes in Chicago, to further an agenda against black people. Oh, there is a conspiracy, but not the one that alex jones and ron paul is telling you.

      Not sure where you are getting your info, or maybe it is your distorted view of the world. If a man who has black skin, has no criminal record and wants a gun, he will get one. I had a black neighbor when I lived in liberal, suburbian area in New England, who had guns. I never lost a wink of sleep worrying about him.

      I work with blacks who are always beating this race thing to death, like every single isssue that comes up is a race issue. It is not, please get over it and move on.

Sorry, but considering Holder’s history to date that is an absurd proposition. Please reference one instance where a legal (can pass background check) afro-american purchasing a gun or ammo was “arrested on the spot by the police”.

      The CO shooter broke no laws before he committed his crime, so what would you do to prevent him? If we locked up crazies like we used to, then you wouldn’t have had the CO shooter. If his right to privacy didn’t trump the public’s right to safety, his college wackyfile would have been forwarded to the guys with the butterfly nets so we could lock his crazy butt up. Perhaps if his town was more concealed carry-friendly someone could have stopped him sooner.

      There are no race-specific gun lists or databases, either. The feds record EVERYONE’S race, gender, age, weight, hair and eye color, etc.

      A black guy can legally buy a gun just like a white guy or any other American. There are no race-specific gun laws in modern America. If you know of a single modern one, cite it.

      Only a non-shooter would ask why anyone needs a thousand rounds. The fact of the matter is, if you shoot more than once or twice a year, you’re going to need ammo. Ammo, like most things, is cheaper when you buy in bulk. Bulk usually means 1000+ rounds, depending on manufacturer or dealer. If you shoot frequently, you’ll burn it up quickly, too. The amount of ammo you buy really has nothing to do with your threat to society-a criminal with a gun could be just as dangerous to you with 6 rounds in a revolver as with 30 rounds in a rifle as with 2 rounds in a shotgun.

      Finally, no, the police aren’t part of some secret plan to kill the black community. They’re doing it to themselves and have been for a very long time. If it isn’t with guns, knives, and other weapons, it’s with drugs. No outsiders need apply. Just look at the random murders of children that had Rahm Emmanuel out begging for peace a couple weeks back.

    I am a gun owner. It is my right as an American. I would like to be able to carry it anywhere I go, but the Nanny State hugely hinders that. It is a commonsense thing to me that if I am seen on the street by a potential criminal and that person thinks they might not overcome me or actually get harmed by me, they will pick another target. Anyone who thinks they are safe in this world because some Govt has regulated something, well, me and that person don’t see eye to eye.

        Lord, Xander, you serve as an excellent example of the quality of America’s education system. The simple fact is you aren’t required to prove you’re not going to break the law. The presumption is you are innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around.

        If you want to help eliminate the crazy factor, support locking crazy people up where they can’t hurt others. Holmes’ school psychiatrist considered him dangerous enough to contact the school-had she been required to share his file with the state, perhaps he could have been picked up and held for observation or just plain tossed in the wackobasket before he hurt someone…

        Well one can only use past evidence and a data base to look at the above statement. Look at the State of Florida which has issued over 2 MILLION carry permits since 1987 and revoking 168 in that same time frame for a crime committed in which a firearm was utilized after licensing. OBTW, black men and women get these licenses too. Why should they the law abiding of any race or creed not have the ability to defend them self? It’s very strong evidence that 168 revoked for a crime in which a firearm is utilized out of over 2 million licenses issued certainly should put the benefit of doubt in their favor.

    Also, I am not against the second admendment. I fully support it, but the problem is that it’s abused and lunatics also have access to guns and so do child sex rings as well. So, if your limited was to exist, who would stop the white slavery rings in the U.S? The child sex rings in the U.S.? if they can buy protection with money and the masses don’t have any? This is something to truly think about. I suprised that Michael did not make an article about this yet.

      I fully agree that the Black community has been abused. How it is abused we probably disagree on.

      The abuse comes from a term coined by Deneen Borelli…plantation politics. By decades of government give away programs, the Black community in particular has become addicted to expecting just about everything from the government. Additionally, poor education has only exasperated the situation. Blacks are still slaves to the master noly in a different way.

      I suggest you Google Deneen Borelli and read some of her comments and books for a different perspective of a problem we both agree on.

Bringing “white slavery” (which is a real problem) in context with illegal gun sales is a straw man. What to truly think about is the link between the black market for arms, drugs, and ‘white’ slavery’. This market is aided and abetted by the likes of Eric Holder.       I don’t know how the existence of trafficking in persons and child molestation has any bearing on our right to protect ourselves. In fact, this comment was more incomprehensible than your usual posts.

      If you’re worried about crazy people-support locking them up as soon as they’re identified. We used to lock crazies up, now we let them wander the streets. Much of the homeless problem we have now dates back to when they emptied the insane asylums. Lock em’ up where they can get care they need and you help end the homeless problem.

    Yes, being robbed is no laughing matter… The Valero two blocks from where I live, got robbed the other night at 1am… Apparently, the assailants had a big Magna flashlight and shattered the glass door, they made off with a lot of stuff, but they got them on video (Who knows if they’ll get caught).

    What’s lucky is, they used to stay open 24/hrs but started closing at 11pm, about 2yrs ago (Due to the economy) So, I’m glad nobody was working when it happened…

    And I live in a relatively “safe” community, more of a retirement community, and so, I think they staked it out and just “hit it”, because they could…

    What’s funny though, is that there’s a Chevron 100ft across the street, that is still open 24/7

      Really? The guns are just tools, like hammers, knives, or cars. Why ban a tool that people mis-use? If we’re going to do that, shouldn’t we also ban the hammers, knives, and cars? LOTS of people have been killed with those, too.

    I have carried a gun in service as an AP. The first thing we are taught is if you draw this pistol, be prepared to kill someone. You cannot shoot to wound. You have to be willing to kill with it.
    More people are killed using a gun as a form of intimidation than any other cause. I am not willing to kill another human being. So I do not carry a gun. Neither do I want a gun in my home.
    More than one unloaded gun has accidentally killed someone. It cannot happen? I am sorry to tell you it can and will happen the first time someone is careless.
    I highly recommend German Shepherds. Police dogs properly trained. I recommend you start with a puppy.
    Raise it with your children. Get shots and other things as needed.
    If an intruder hears a police dog they will go somewhere else. It is easy to find a better mark.
    Malcolm X once said that without the full cooperation of the police and the courts he could not operate as a house breaker. I believe him.
    So if Chicago is so bad, start checking out what is happening in the courts there. How many are getting off free after committing crimes? How full are the jails? Are they unable to house more criminals?
    How understaffed is your local police and how long does it take them to respond? They can be completely honest and still totally overwhelmed. My city has a 3.5 minute response rate in an emergency. The local big city can be anything from an hour up to 3 hours response time.
    Guess where most of the crime is.
    If I had to carry a weapon at night it wouldn’t be a gun. I would carry a potato. That is right. The criminals know what I refer to. Potatoes are straight bladed razors imbedded in a hard potato. One half is soft enough to shield the blades. It is thrown into the face of the assaulter. It is not lethal but there is a lot of pain involved.
    The second weapon of choice is a pistol crossbow. These little gems have a 75 pound pull and are easy to load. They are totally silent. A bolt has the power of an elephant gun. No armor will protect you completely against a bolt. Yes criminals wear armor just like police do. A proficient crossbow person can get off six shots before anyone realises a weapon has been shot. Funny enough, no one uses a crossbow. I think all the laws are set up to handle guns that go off like a firecracker and ID who is shooting.
    Please be careful. The police are also likely to break into a home to check for drugs. They don’t ID themselves before entering. Many a home has been broken into because the police got the wrong address.
    Personally, that is unprofessional. Police should always identify themselves before entering a home and they should always have a warrant from a court showing probably cause. I think police that don’t deserve what ever happens to them. They have failed in their oath to uphold the constitution and laws of the United States.

    If you don’t already have a gun, buy one.
    Learn how to use it. Take a gun class at a local shooting range.
    The worst mistake you can make, is buying a gun and learning how to use it by watching old Dirty Harry movies. It doesn’t work that way in real life.
    You don’t need a semi-automatic rifle, unless you plan on blowing away elephants on a safari. A Glock works just fine.

      I know of no semi-auto that I would take on safari. A much larger caliber is wattanted. Double-barrelled rifles are nice, but expensive. Most of us have to settle for bolt action rifles for safari.

    Michael, Thank you for this great post. I have been waiting for an article like this. I have been expecting something in light of the tragedy in CO.

    Liberals that are so against guns have not been in a situation where they wish they had a gun, period! I would rather have one , and God forbid ever have to use it, than to need it, and not have it.

    I grew up in a VERY liberal anti-gun state in New England, and the liberal, over educated, anti gun advocates just don’t seem to get it no matter what statistics you give them.

    They just want to sing koom-by-yah and think that all is well in the world, and just because their reasoning seems to be that since they have never been assalted, or been a vicitm of robbery, rape, home invasion, etc. that it will never happen. They say, “hey, I always leave my doors unlocked, and nothing has ever happened”

    These are the same people that think that people are generally pretty “good” and also the same people that want to try to defend a rapist or robber or murderer because “he is mentally ill or had a bad childhood” and that is justification for what he did.

    The Bible, which they despise, paints a completely different picture of human nature and how “good” we really are. If you want to puff your ego up and feel good about how good you are, then don;t read the Bible. It reveals to you your real condition before a Holy, righteous God, who will judge this world in righteousness.

    These are the exact liberal fools that have no clue about the real world and human nature. They have educated themselves with Phd after Phd, yet lack any common sense. Its only when they face evil face to face and survive, that maybe there is a chance of them viewing things differently and looking at a firearm as a very efficient way to defend themselves against criminals that would kill them in a heartbeat.

    LEGAL gun ownership is fine when they are in the hands of RESPONSIBLE people. Legal guns include small arms and those guns used for HUNTING (wild game NOT humans). Assault weapons aren’t good for anything and should be BANNED because they serve no purpose other than killing many people within seconds. Additionally cartridges designed to hold many rounds of bullets should be BANNED. The NRA and any other gun support groups use the argument of “right to bear arms” or our “constitutional rights” but does that give gun owners the right to stockpile assault weapons and masses of ammunition?

    There is a fine line between gun rights and restrictions; reponsibility and madness. To group the right to own ANY gun in one convenient package of laws is fool hearty and has set a dangerous precedence that all is legal in our “shoot ’em up” wild west mentality society….

      Since you know nothing about guns (which is quite obvious from the terms you used) your opinion is worthless. So called “assault weapons” are used for hunting and target shooting every day.

      Take a few classes and shoot a variety of weapons before opining on something you know nothing about

      You might want to do your homework before you talk about the issue-calling a magazine a “cartridge” is incorrect. Cartridges go inside a magazine.

      By the way-just what do you consider to be the correct capacity for a magazine? Not all weapons are the same, so I’m curious how you know what is too much?

      Assault weapons? Again, you don’t know what you’re talking about, so it’s hard to debate the issue with you. For all intents and purposes, no one owns an assault rifle. A real assault weapon can fire either single shot or automatic, unlike all those scary rifles you see on TV. There are a tiny number of automatic weapons and certified dealers in them, but they’re heavily regulated, closely monitored, and it’s an expensive commodity. To my knowledge, no legal automatic weapons owner has ever used his weapons in a violent crime. There are illegal machineguns out there-but if they’re illegal, there’s no way you can stop criminals from buying them with more laws.

      And not good for anything? Obviously, you’ve never shot one. Aside from all the other uses for them, if you shot one, you would know they’re freaking fun!

      If we were to “modernize” the 2nd Ammendment to the US Constitution, it would most definetly included firearms like the AR-15 semi auto carbine. Why? because it is as close as we can get to what the military/police can use. The colonists had very similar weapons as did the British soldiers. So, Constitutionally speaking, there should be an AR-15 by every bedside in law abiding American homes, and owned by Patriots who are well trained with their firearm.

      Another point while I am at it, regarding the militia spoken of in the @nd Ammendment, many anti-gunn liberals want to say that the National Guard is our “militia” of today.

      WRONG! Think about it….the founders gave us the 2nd Ammendment in order to protect us from a tyrannical government, the National Guard is part of the government, and if government goes bad, National Guard is part of that Government.

      The Militia is supposed to be made up of citizens, minutemen, patriots, etc. Not the government. The government is ” supposed ” to protect us nationally, the militia is supposed to protect us from government.

      We need to get this staright people. Read the documents, read your history, do NOT allow biased, globalist controlled mainstream media tell you what to think, and what to believe as truth.

          Clearly you do not understand American history or Robert E Lee.           Lee’s wife did own slaves, but as soon as she inherited them General Lee immediately began to set them free.           If the Civil War was truly about slavery it would have been declared so at the outset. However; only as a political move on Lincoln’s part following the stalemate at Sharpsburg did Lincoln free the slaves in the 11 states of rebellion. The primary reason for such a political move was to hurt the southern economy and pull soldiers away from the front to prevent a slave rebellion. If, Lincoln would have truly wanted to free slaves then he would have done so in the 4 slaves states that did not secede.

It is not safe to break into a home without identifying yourself as an officer of the law. Police that do enter in this manner are asking for trouble.     The incident in colorado is just another wake up call. It shows the utter stupidity of the no carry zones liberal citys have put in place.     I wathched the video again and just laugh how all these gun toting bad guys flee like the cowards they are…and they were armed!!!!

    I also love how the correspondant makes it a point several times to show a concern about what is “down range” in other words, the jewelry store owner is responsible for where the round would go should she have fired. They are almost putting legal fear into the minds of legal gun owners about what would happen should they use their gun to save their life from criminals, should a round go “down range”

    Don’t get me wrong, this is a HUGE concern, and it should be a concern of every legal gun owner. This is why people should shoot often, train in matches like IDPA, and know the laws the best you can, so that the chances of a round going whrre it should not, is limited.

    Its funny, media or police never seem to give illegal thugs who have guns the same advice…to be aware of the round going “down range” and harming/killing an innocent bystander!!!

    I want to know where thes yoots got their guns. If/when caught, they should all face life in chain gang prison, working to repair Americas infastructures.

          Question: IF they actually catch this criminal, how is an “automatic prison term” going to work in helping you?     If we want to be free we will have to hang the traitors.

    But Americans are so fat and pathetic. Look around at the mall. Look at the youth. Look at the TV shows.

    Still there is a chance for freedom if we all band together.

    I know there’s little point to me saying this, as guns are part of the makeup of much of the American psyche but I’ll say it anyway.

    Looking over the pond it seems strange to me that the touted solution to gun problems is higher gun ownership. I feel quite comfortable here in the UK knowing that no-one has a gun. You seem to have got yourselves into an arms race because you are worried everyone else has guns so you’d better protect your family.

    It’s a nice story about an elderly lady chasing off 5 burglars – how many stories are there where someone draws a gun in response and people die?

    The tragic shooting in the cinema, would we really be better off if at the first sign of trouble everyone carrying started shooting off in the dark?

    It’s your country, that’s great, and perhaps it’s well suited that I’m here and you are all there. I just wanted to give you my perspective of how uneasy all your talk of guns makes me.

      Personally with a couple of heart attacks under my belt I’m in no shape to fight off a young, strong male that is either unarmed or armed with knife or club. It’s interesting that bare hands and feet or knife or club kill individually more than a rifle of any type including semi auto. You can validate the data by searching FBI Uniform Crime Reports. Regarding the legal carrying of handguns the State of Florida keeps very good records. Since 1987 Florida has issued over 2 million carry permits and revoked 168 for a crime in which a gun was utilized. Thats 168 out of 2+ million.

      Yes we have a crime problem with guns that for the most part is clustered within the criminal element. For the most part criminals kill criminals.

      You think the UK is somehow above mistreating it’s subjects? History says otherwise. OBTW your standard of living increasing or decreasing? Just asking.

      One other question. Are “The Royals” protected by armed security and if so why? Are the royals better or more important than you?

    I’ve been scanning my post for where I suggest America mistreats its subjects, or that Britain doesn’t, but can’t find it!

    Our country has a whole heap of problems, but this was a blog about guns so I thought I’d comment on the subject rather than all the things wrong with the UK!

    I don’t know if there is any alternative to the guns arms race in America, Pandora’s box might be open so perhaps it’s too late. I hope we don’t follow down that particular path. It’s a shame when we all distrust our neighbours so much that the only answer seems to be out arm them.
