20 Signs That The Fabric Of American Society Is Coming Apart At The Seams

There is wild disagreement about what is causing it, but what most people can agree on is that there is something fundamentally wrong with America.  The fabric of American society just does not seem to be as strong as it used to.  In fact, many would argue that society is coming apart at the seams. Corruption and decay seem to be everywhere.  I spend a lot of time in my other articles blaming a lot of this corruption and decay on politicians, bureaucrats and business leaders, but the reality is that they are only part of the story.  The truth is that those who are leading us are a reflection of what we have become as a nation.  If you got rid of all of our corrupt leaders that would not suddenly “fix” this country.  Millions of ordinary Americans have become deeply corrupt as well.  The kinds of things that you are about to read about below were very rare in past generations.  Society is falling apart all around us and we haven’t even seen the complete collapse of the U.S. economy yet.

A lot of people like to blame the increasingly bizarre behavior of the American people on the economy, but the reality is that things are not nearly as bad as they are eventually going to be.  Yes, the U.S. “Misery Index” recently hit a 28 year high.  Tens of millions of American families are deeply suffering.  Unemployment is rampant and unprecedented numbers of Americans have been getting kicked out of their homes.

But that is nothing compared to what is coming.

So what is America going to look like when true economic suffering comes along?

That is something to think about.

A lot of the items in the list below may seem easy to dismiss as “isolated incidents”.  But when you start examining patterns of behavior over an extended period of time, certain trends begin to emerge.  America is become a very cruel place.  The love of most people seems to be growing cold.  What some people are willing to do for a little bit of money or just because someone has “pissed them off” is absolutely stunning.  The America of today is fundamentally different from the America of past generations.

We have changed, and not for the better.

The following are 20 signs that the fabric of American society is coming apart at the seams…..

#1 A 17-year-old Florida teen is being accused of killing his parents with a hammer, hiding their bodies in the master bedroom, and then inviting dozens of people over for a massive house party.

#2 What is it with 17-year-olds?  Another 17-year-old has been charged with putting a plastic bag over the head of his mother and choking her to death with a belt.  His two brothers just stood by and watched while this happened.  Apparently the 17-year-old was infuriated because his mother wanted them to play a game of Yahtzee with her.

#3 The largest school cheating scandal in the history of the United States was recently uncovered in the Atlanta area.  Dozens of teachers and principals were involved according to a recently released 413 page report….

More than three quarters of the 56 schools investigated cheated on a 2009 standardized state test, with 178 educators implicated, including 38 principals. Eighty-two teachers confessed to erasing students’ answers and correcting tests. The report says widespread cheating has occurred since at least 2001 and that orders to cheat came from the top.

#4 A Vancouver, Washington woman has been charged with trying to sell her newborn baby in front of a Taco Bell.  Apparently she was hoping to get somewhere between $500 and $5000 for the baby.

#5 In the United States today, if you don’t show cops “proper respect” there is a good chance that you are going to get tazed.  Just check out this disturbing video of an incident that recently happened in Alabama.

#6 A 48-year-old woman in California was recently arrested after she drugged her husband, chopped off his manhood and threw it into the garbage disposal.

#7 In the Dallas area, five people (including a pregnant woman) were trampled while lying on the ground as thousands of desperate people madly dashed to get into line to get on a waiting list for rental assistance vouchers.

#8 A 35-year-old New York man that has been charged with “kidnapping, killing and dismembering an 8-year-old boy” says that he “hears voices” and he has been ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation.

#9 There has been a rash of car robberies in the Atlanta area recently.  Just a couple of nights ago, more than 30 cars were broken into in a single night in south Buckhead.

#10 All over the United States this summer, thieves are stealing just about anything they can get their hands on.  People are stealing air conditioners, copper wiring, restaurant furniture, metal drain covers and even hair extensions.

#11 In Woodstock, Georgia a 61-year-old man reportedly promised to give a 17-year-old boy money if he would do certain “things” for the man.  Well, it turns out that the 61-year-old man ended up setting the teen on fire….

A 61-year-old man has been arrested on charges of aggravated battery, cruelty to children, false imprisonment, and solicitation of sodomy after he set a 17-year-old boy on fire in Woodstock.

#12 In Washington state, a 23-year-old woman is accused of dumping her newborn baby into a trashcan at the hospital.  When a nurse finally found the plastic bag with the baby boy inside of it, the child was blue in the face from a lack of oxygen.  Fortunately, the baby survived the ordeal.

#13 In another story from Washington state, a man that is being charged with producing child porn is being allowed to watch that porn all he wants while he is in prison because he is acting as his own lawyer and needs to have “access to the evidence“….

So because he’s acting as his own lawyer, he gets full access to the evidence against him. Which means that as he prepares for trial, a private room has been set up in the jail where Gilbert can watch the full 30-hour archives of his own child porn collection.

#14 The National Retail Federation says that “inventory loss” for retail stores was up 11% last year.  Most of the “inventory loss” is attributed to such things as shoplifting and employee theft.

#15 In Minnesota recently, a mob of teen girls brutally pummeled a mother and her two daughters until they were black and blue.  Apparently the mob of teen girls was enraged over a pair of missing sunglasses.

#16 One of the hot new trends for young males is to play the “knockout game“.  In this “game”, a group of young men picks out an innocent bystander and the first one to knock that person out is the “winner”.

#17 Prior to 2011, most Americans had never even heard of “mob robberies“.  Today, they have made headline news all over the nation.

#18 In the San Francisco area recently, fire crews and police just stood on the shore and watched as a suicidal 50-year-old man slowly drowned to death in the San Francisco Bay.

#19 Meanwhile, the federal government continues to waste money on some of the most bizarre things imaginable.  For example, the federal government actually gave money to the National Institutes of Health to study the effect that the size of “a certain part of the body” has on the sex lives of gay men.  Can anyone think of a reason why the federal government would want to throw money away on such frivolous studies when millions of Americans can’t even find jobs right now?

#20 Many believe that a big reason for all of this chaos in America today is the decline of the American family.  In 1960, married couples accounted for 75 percent of all households in America.  Today, they account for just 48 percent of all households.

Whatever your political or religious philosophy is, hopefully you can agree that America is in trouble.  Every single day, there are more shocking revelations about the corruption and the decay that are spreading throughout this nation.

Sadly, instead of coming together to work on some solutions to our growing problems, Americans are becoming more divided than ever.

The mainstream media teaches us that our “opponents” are those that belong to political, social or religious groups that are different from our own.  They love to divide us and play us off against each other.  Everywhere you look in America, hate is growing.

But hatred is never the answer.  Yes, we should always stand up for what we believe is right, but we can do that and still love one another at the same time.

Unfortunately, as America continues to come apart at the seams we are probably going to see this country become even more divided.

United we stand, divided we fall – you make the call America.

  • Golden Child

I agree that things are most probably going to get worse. But let’s be honest. The 70’s, 80’s and 90’s in American cities made today look like Disney World. All of these examples you posted were nothing in comparison to the widespread regularity in violence that plagued the streets of nearly every major American city for that twenty to thirty year stretch. The murder rate in most big cities was at least double was it was today back during the crack epidemic. Even large swaths of NYC, like Harlem, were like Detroit back in the early 90’s with brownstones selling for a dollar because that neighborhood was a war-zone ravaged by crack cocaine with seemingly no future. Today, every bit of NYC is premium real estate and the police state that is the Big Apple has gotten a military occupation-like grip on its minority-majority ghetto inner city areas like those in Brooklyn and The Bronx. The L.A. riots were vastly scarier than any outbreak of widespread violence in recent years.

But I believe America will become that violent again. Laying off thousands of police officers in the worst neighborhoods from Oakland to Newark, NJ isn’t going to stop an inevitable jump in the crime rate as people get more desperate as more jobs are slashed, unemployment benefits dry up and the cost of living continues to rise while the dollar devalues to nothing. What will be the straw the breaks the camel’s back is the question.

This web site along with the coming depression are the best two web sites on the web. Keep up the great work. Everyone needs to know the real truth.

    • Gary2

The coming depression looks like right wing libertarian trash AKA fox news which is crumbling along with all Murdoch crap.

This site and Michael’s sister site (which actually seems to get the better articles most of the time) are a lot less biased.

I do not think one can even compare Michael’s sites to the coming depression site. Plus by its very name one can see its wrong. Coming depression…we are already there.

We are in a managed depression and have been for the last few years.

      • Tim

I believe Dave was referring to the author’s other site–The Economic Collapse Blog.

  • Gary2

repubes who have convinced people that their immoral funneling of wealth to the top producing the largest wealth and income gap ever have taken our economy apart at the seams.

    They are immoral scum.

    • Aurelius 7

And you who once wished Republicans and conservatives to be killed are all of a sudden taking the high road?

    • Crusader

Gary, did you take your meds today?

  • Gary2

According to conservatives lower taxes on the wealthy will create all the jobs we need… even though there is no actual evidence to support this. When asked about job creation after Bush lowered the tax rates their eyes glass over.

I’m gonna go drop a “job creator” in the toilet right now…

    • Tim

How many times are you going to copy and paste that comment?

  • Tamara

These things all make me so, so sad. What is wrong with people that they think these things are ok?! You’re right, hate is never the answer. But I agree it’s going to get a lot worse. Makes me not want to go out of my house. :(

  • Sheryl in TX

Gary2, Go crawl back in your libtard hole.
We are sick to death of your crap.

      Speak for yourself.

      • KountryKathi

This is part of the point of the article. Rather than rudely say ‘speak for yourself’ which she did, speak for herself that is. You might have said something more polite and postive, like, ‘I agree with you Gary2’.

See? that isn’t all that hard and makes you seem a much nicer person.

  • prophet

This is the result of the breakdown of the family and the false teachings of secular humanism. God is the source of all good. Those who deny God and break his commandments will reap the repercussions. Church pews are becoming increasingly empty and people are not getting the moral guidance that comes from good churches.

  • OldPhart

In the meantime, we have government officials complicit in this sort of thing.

A very large part of the collapse of American society resides in the collapse of the rule of law, and the lies of the federal government. The supremacy of the US Constitution is DEAD, killed by the evil Smirking Chimp Bush and the NeoCons. Without the rule of law, America is no better than the worst third world country. With an dishonest federal government, citizens have no place to turn…….certainly NOT the joke of the mass media outlets in the USA. Finally, the current disasters are rooted in the fools in the US Congress. You get the government you vote for. So, be sure to send the SAME morons who created this nightmare back to Congress in Nov of 2012.

    • bhc

      I agree entirely…..

From Gary2 comment, it is proof that there is at least “21” signs that…apart at the seams.

Michael T. Snyder writes: “the U.S. ‘Misery Index’ recently hit a 28 year high. Tens of millions of American families are deeply suffering. Unemployment is rampant and unprecedented numbers of Americans have been getting kicked out of their homes. But that is nothing compared to what is coming.” Very well said. I couldn’t have said it better myself. As brutal as this depression has been in The Banana Republic of America (formerly the USA), it is going to get much worse. Gerald Celente is exactly right when he says that we’re going into the Greatest Depression, meaning an economic nightmare that will be even worse than the Great Depression of the 1930s. And if the BRA is this violent and dangerous now, imagine what it will be like during an economic meltdown that will make the suffering of the 1930s look like sunshine and daffodils. Get ready to live in a Third World hellhole where you won’t be able to go outside in the middle of the afternoon without a gun. Get ready for both a police state and a state of anarchy.

That might sound like a contradiction. Wouldn’t a state of anarchy be the opposite of a police state? Not necessarily (Venezuela has a Marxist strongman for a president, but Caracas is one of the most violent cities on the planet). Here’s the thing: the BRA police state will protect the corporate thieves and abuse decent, hard-working Americans, but it won’t protect you from carjackers, kidnappers or violent home invaders.

Nor will it protect you from thugs in baggy pants who aren’t necessarily profit-motivated—they just enjoy violence for the sake of violence. Example #16 references The Knockout Game, which may ultimately receive what I call The Instant Bullet Response; in other words, people will get sick of that type of thing, take the law into their own hands and instantly put a bullet in the head of anyone who plays The Knockout Game. That’s another thing to look forward to in the BRA: vigilante justice. When people conclude that la policía offer no protection from random acts of violence, they will play judge, jury and executioner.

I want my beloved USA back, but to quote The Rolling Stones, you can’t always get what you want. The USA as we knew it is dead and gone, never to return. This is a whole new reality: an ugly, harsh, nasty Third World reality called The Banana Republic of America, and the BRA is rotting, decaying, collapsing and falling apart on so many levels. The future is truly grim for The Banana Republic of America, formerly the USA.

    • Sandy B

      El Pollo,
Well put! Note: I already don’t venture outside my house without my weapons(s). Yes, Americans, it has already reached that point. No, I don’t live in what’s considered a high crime area. If you look, you’ll notice that most of American has become a high crime area, despite denials by police departments. Being in denial about it, as the majority still are, is not going to help us.

  • I think you are getting to the underlying problem: the cause of most of the planet’s ills is selfishness, and a lack of selflessness; everything else is just a symptom.

    • jasehawk

NickyG, you’ve still got some digging to do. Something is causing the selfishness. Those who also love the darkness, just different flavors will never figure it out.

      • KountryKathi

Yes, something, many things are ‘causing’ this seflishness. It is called it being OK to be selfish and self centered. THAT needs to become unacceptable and WE are the only ones that can do it.

  • Guido

Sure, all problems come from the Rs. It’s obvious that they’ve been at the center of a secret conspiracy to destroy this nation since they were first organized. Their entire history, they’ve worked to undermine this nation and reduce us all to slavery-aside from when they ended slavery that one time…

The democrat party has to share at least half the blame with the Rs. It takes two to tango and the dems have run this country more often than not for most of the last 7 decades. They’ve had more presidents and more congressional majorities and more activist judges. Until 96′ they ran congress for pretty much 40 years straight. You can’t pretend the Rs are solely to blame for what’s going on now-our problems can be traced back over decades and decades. At a minimum, it goes back to WWII. It was the dems who spearheaded most of the big government we’re burdened with now. In 1913, Wilson forced the fed on us. FDR brought us big government and WWII. Kennedy got us Vietnam. LBJ worked to make it even bigger and more incomprehensible and got us more Vietnam. Carter dumped Panama, grew gov’t with the DOE and DOEd, and presided over 70% taxes. Clinton got us Somalia, Yugoslavia, Kosovo, and Haiti. Obama has done wonders for us, too, bringing us a socialist medical boondoggle and running up more debt than every single presidential administration in our history added together, plus he did not bring us back from Iraq, added troops to Afghanistan, and got us into Libya where we are leading from behind.

Yeah, take the keys from the Rs because they’re the ones who drove us in the ditch.

Both sides have screwed us, exceeding their constitutional authority, turning the fedgov into a giant handout machine, and deploying troops around the world for any reason under the sun. They’ve monkeyed around with the finance system and our money and ruined businesses. They have, as someone quoted the Declaration of Independence in the Gold blog below, sent swarms of government agents to eat out our substance. The fedgov is now a 10 pound tick on an anemic 2 pound dog. But the Rs didn’t do it all by their lonesome.

The USA should stop all foreign aid now. Use this money to fix up America first, then if some foreign country needs help, the USA government can loan them money to be payed back with interest!
None of this crap of giving away billions to all these foreign countries so their dictators can build themselves castles! And hide the money in Swiss bank accounts.

  • Amun Rah

The use of “Exceptionalism” to define an era is intellectually and factually dishonest. Many of the One-offs you list above are not an indication the our society is falling apart.

Not that our culture isn’t in the descendant, and has been for decades it’s just that those examples are not demonstrative of the why.

Judge Judy and similar ‘reality’ TV is far more representative of the people in out midst who have lost their moorings. As are the other TV shows that are doing what Neil Postman wrote about many years ago in “Amusing Ourselves to Death”.

Our people, the majority of them, have abdicated their moral and ethical responsiblities. The incentives in our society are completely upside down where a movie actor makes more money than the E.R. Nurse. The teachers have pursued their own fortunes, bankrupting communities providing third rate schooling in our inner cities, while the teachers retire as millionaires.

There are lots of reasons why society is deteriorating with increased rapidity, but the number one reason is that americans and many people in other countries have dispensed with adulthood and are mired in the putrid excesses of adolescence.

  • Gary2

Yeah lets raise taxes on everyone, tax them 100%, then thrown it all down the Obama rat hole to pay all the bankers their bonuses. That will create more government jobs to regulate everything and everyone. No more 7 year olds selling lemonade, that has to regulate. Too bad since a 7 year old owning a lemonade stand knows more about economics than Obammy.

    • Sandy B

      That’s so true it hurts!

  • Gary2

Lets ************* all the millionaires and billionaires and take all their money and give it away to the illegal aliens and high school drop outs. That will create more jobs for everyone. Repeat the cycle every year. ********************. Whee, this ekonomiks is easy. Also just print more fiat money and raise the debt ceiling. Gary2 and Obama are geniuses. Dictators for life!

    • Gary2

It would create a lot of demand and thus jobs.

We need to make sure the millionaires and billionaires get taxed hard. They have never had such low taxes. Pay back will be a bitch! HA HA

  • Gary2

Gary2 supports Hugo Chavez for president 2012. He’s not a citizen? Who cares, the constitution is just a piece of paper we can interpret it any way we desire. Marxism in the USA! Support you local Mussolini (Gary2) for vice president. Tax all you suckers dry and I will live high on the hog.

“#10 All over the United States this summer, thieves are stealing just about anything they can get their hands on.”

You aren’t kidding. In this article, thieves stole enough rail to lay about a fifth of a mile of track. Meth-heads stealing spikes and tie plates for scrap money is nothing new, but this is some serious, heavy-duty theft. See:

    • Guido

It’s crazy. We saw this stuff in Iraq. The Army would string up power for some town, then looters would move in and steal the wires just as quickly.

It’s also like Atlas Shrugged, where towns were left without power and even the pavement was stolen for use.

Or perhaps Russia, where brutal efficiency towards looters and guards along the tracks every 1/2 mile or so were how order was kept. Were we to emulate the Russians, I’m sure the problem would go away. The sentries make for a great employment program, too.

  • Gary2

If you work hard at your own business, you do not deserve the fruits of you labor. It belongs to the government and your fellow comrades. You must be taxed, since you are evil in wanting to make a living for yourself. You work too hard and earn too much money. I am needy and have the right to your money. You must pay all your taxes to me Gary2. I am lazy bastard and am entitled to your money.

    • Gary2

There is no such thing as a self made man or woman. Everyone succeeds on the efforts of those before them. Try moving to Somalia if you don’t want to pay taxes.

Tax the wealthy to keep us healthy!

  • I live in the mountains of New Mexico, and every time I go to the big city of Socorro I notice how society has changed.
Seems like every time I go to the big city of Socorro (pop 12K) I really notice how messed up people are becoming.
Fat disgusting slobs and grandmas with tattoos and rings all over their faces and most men looking like they have been castrated.
Not being judgmental but I have been living off the grid and in the mountains for 6 years now and only go to town every 2 months or so, so the changes are sharp in my mind not being exposed to it (society) on a daily basis. The contrast between 6 years ago and now is very noticeable.

You’ve been hanging out at that Walmart off of California St, haven’t you?

I’ve been through there a few times. I love the countryside, but it sure doesn’t seem like a place that could sustain life very well for very long. How do you do it?

  • mondobeyondo

Things are progressively getting worse in this country. Daily life has gone from plain weird to downright bizarre.

The decline is plain as day, to anyone who has eyes to see.
July 20, 1969 – Neil Armstrong walks on the moon.
July 20, 2011 – NASA laying off thousands as shuttle program ends.
And that is just in science. The cultural decay is all too evident.

Maybe Kurt Cobain was right. Maybe we will have to eventually “sell the kids for food” (“In Bloom”, Nirvana, 1991). Hey, it’s better than tossing a baby in a dumpster.

    • Guido

I was at a conference several months ago where I met a variety of aerospace engineers and contractors. Many of them were selling extremely high-tech stuff for use in space produced by private firms and universities. One item I thought was fascinating was a chip that can operate in the harsh conditions of space. It operates as a triple redundant system to insure cosmic rays can’t cause a failure. Cosmic rays may cause one system to fail, but the other two will insure the bad data is ignored.

I was surprised to learn just how low their regard for NASA was. Some of them had spent many years working for NASA, and they were sorry to leave it, but they believe the future of space and innovation is not at NASA. They told me in no uncertain terms that NASA was dead and the future rests with private enterprise, other agencies, and other nations. They also told me all NASA is good for these days is launching GPS satellites and taking pictures of the Earth. They felt like an era was over and I got the impression they felt like we weren’t going to go any further.

      I’m afraid they’re probably right.

  • George Kadlec

The actual reason for Americaq’s decline are morals. The following is an example of this:

“Perhaps the definitive work on the rise and fall of civilizations,” writes Fitzpatrick, “was published in 1934 by Oxford anthropologist J.D. Unwin”:

In “Sex and Culture,” Unwin studied 86 human civilizations ranging from tiny South Sea island principalities to mighty Rome. He found that a society’s destiny is linked inseparably to the limits it imposes on sexual expression and that those sexual constraints correlate directly to its theological sophistication and religious commitment.

Unwin noted that the most primitive societies had only rudimentary spiritual beliefs and virtually no restrictions on sexual expression, whereas societies with more sophisticated theologies placed greater restrictions on sexual expression, and achieved greater social development.

In particular, cultures that adopt what Unwin dubbed “absolute monogamy” proved to be the most vigorous, economically productive, artistically creative, scientifically innovative and geographically expansive societies on earth.

    Our fate is sealed.

    • JR

Thanks George. Very, very good post

    • Prophet

I tend to agree. Sexual immorality always accompanies the downfall of a civilization. There is a reason that God gave us commandments. The commandments are a safety net for us.

  • Antonio

I read many of your articles and they are right on point. I would like to raise concern over this piece. There is one ingredient you’re missing here and that’s the spiritual connection that’s happening to the world at large.

With all of the fascination of occultist themes like werewolves, vampires, ghost, etc. We’re becoming morally void of goodness.

A few days ago I pulled into a gas station. As I went into the store to get gas for my Blazer I notice a police officer walking up to what appears to be a deaf and mute man. When I am at the counter I asked the cahier what exactly that policeman was with that man. The cashier told me that a group of (black) teenagers jumped the guy, took his groceries and made off with his bike. When I left the store the cop was trying to communicate with the man, but he did not know sign language. Apparently thedeaf/mute fellow did not know how to write either because the cop asked him and started shaking his head “no.” By this point the guy was emotionally upset and what I guess was his sister or girlfriend showed up in a car to drive him home.

That is a very disturbing story.

That’s awful. Talk about the absolutely lowest scum of the world.

The author summed it all up in one word: Corruption. Corruption at all levels. I have never seen so many greedy, corrupt people, and this is among common people. I can only imagine what the wealthy, with greater power to rob and steal, are like.

The character Calvin, for the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, summed it up best:

“The best proof of intelligent life on other planets is the fact that they haven’t contacted us yet”.

  • Richard

One of the five reason’s of Historian Edward Gibbons’ book in ‘ Decline and fall of the Roman Empire’ was:

    1) The undermining of the dignity and sanctity of the home, which is the basis of human society.

  • El Pollo de Oro

I should add that in the future, the baggy-pants-wearing lowlifes who enjoy playing The Knockout Game might get a taste of vigilante justice from the for-profit criminals. Drug trafficking, carjacking and kidnapping are going to be major growth industries in The Banana Republic of America, and profit-motivated criminals will essentially BECOME “law enforcement” in some places the way the drug lords have become “law enforcement” in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. Let’s say that the bottom feeders who play The Knockout Game decided to try that in one of Rio’s favelas; the drug lords would figure they were bad for business and shoot them in the heads immediately. No due process—just swift justice, favela style.

    • Glock30Eric

Honest, Open Carry weapon could have prevented that “knockout game”. Otherwise, CCW carrier would have got them killed. They are playing with the fire with their life. I pray that they come to grasp that it is does not honor God’s greatest commandment, namely, to love your neighbors as yourself.

      • El Pollo de Oro

Glock30Ericz: I’m very pro-Second Amendment. It’s true – there’s always been violence in major American cities. There was the famous “wilding” incident in New York City, where a jogger was assaulted and raped as she was walking through Central Park. And the simmering melting pot that was Los Angeles in the early 90’s, set to explode at any moment. All it needed was a spark. Rodney King’s beating by the LAPD provided that spark. There’s always been that undercurrent of potential violence and anarchy.

But it is so much more evident today. It won’t even take a spark to set things off. Spontaneous combustion will do. It’s an explosive cocktail of mass unemployment, alienation by our youth, moral decline, and lack of respect for authority, among many factors.

And what is the response of the authorities?
Clamp down. Tighten up. More restrictions on your freedom, for the sake of “security”. (How can you have freedom without security? Umm, yeah. Ask Ben Franklin about that one. “Those who sacrifice freedom for the sake of security deserve neither”…)

    This will not end well.

  • These things have always happened. I recently fell into the trap of declaring that the violent nature of content in television, movies and video games was causing a generation to be desensitized to violence. Until I looked up the FBI crime statistics and violent crime is down sharply over the past decade. Yes, this culture is collapsing, but for reasons almost no one would accept.

I think one of the bigger problems we are facing is a certain percentage of the population feels entitled. They feel entitled to what most people have to work for. A large part of what’s feeding this is the Welfare State, Celebrity Culture, and the fact that in America we have beggars with cell phones, and poor with big screen TV, computers, cell phones, and cars.
We have people who don’t think anything is their fault and think the world should revolve around them and are angry that it doesn’t. We have a society that doesn’t hold anybody accountable, and makes excuses when somebody acts like an idiot.
This is not going to get better when the checks stop flowing, and it takes $100 plus to fill your tank bus fare goes to five dollars plus. These same people will look to take what little you have, you better be ready.

I spoke to a doctor who specializes in human fertility issues a while back. I asked him why that isn’t considered a viable solution for people. Then he stated there may be a high mortality rate for cloned animals. Dolly the sheep, for instance, died at 7. And I hear some of the other notable cloned animals were fakes. It may be the good ol’ fashioned way is the only way.

  • It is an absolute tragedy the mess our country is in and the so called smart people in DC can’t come to agreement on the solutions to bring us back to the “Superpower” we have always been.Unemployment is still through the roof people are starving to death and dying from the heat that is baking everything in it’s path and our leaders are idiots. For the goofs who do not think we need to tax the rich hard see this link. I am glad that 60-81% of Americans say the first thing we need to do to address any debt/deficit is to TAX THE RICH. It makes little difference whether or not you like this it is a fact.

    • Tim

Let’s get this right. In prior comments you’ve stated that you don’t care about annual budget deficits or the debt and you don’t know many who do care. But now you’re endorsing surveys that suggest that the way to solve those problems is to tax the rich? Furthermore, it seems to me that your objective in taxing the rich is so that their wealth can be spread around. So, if the rich are taxed and their wealth goes toward debt reduction, that won’t leave anything for people like you.

        Tim and All,
I’ve noticed that Gary2 uses a lot of sarcasm and black humor that many of you are missing. Just a comment.

  • Back in 1997 there were two historians that predicted this current crisis period. It was predicted in a book called “The fourth Turning.”
The authors predicted a crisis period lasting from 2005 to 2025.

Because the US always run into a crisis period about every 80 to 100 years. About the time the last generations to directly experience a major crisis die out, then the new generations become susceptible all over again. The last crisis period ran from 1925 to 1945 and included the depression plus World War II. The counting for the next crisis starts at the beginning of the last crisis: 1925 + 80 = 2005.

    Why does this happen?

When people live for an extended period where recessions are suppressed and war does not directly affect them, then excesses gradually build. Most of the old lessons of history are lost as older people gradually die. Slowly the people become susceptible to the same problems as their grandparents and great-grandparents.

Here is one lesson lost. People in the US today have no fear of a nuclear attack. Because of this, the government has reduced our nuclear arsenal by over 90% and wants to eliminate nuclear weapons entirely. Of course, both Russia and China don’t feel this way. They are busy building massive and numerous underground bunkers for their citizens. They are upgrading their nuclear weapons systems.

How bad is it going to get?

One author of the “The Fourth Turning” said that if the pain level today is about a 2 or 3, then it will eventually get to a 10. America, Europe, Japan are in an economic pre-collapse state. Russia and China are in a pre-collapse state. We are looking at the collapse of most of the developed world.

Now it’s about to get worse.

The Middle East is now in the state of collapse. Syria is in big trouble and has threatened Israel. No peace in Syria means no peace in Israel. A big war in the Middle East acts as a catalyst for NUCLEAR WAR between the major powers.

We are looking at a bigger, badder version of the Great Depression plus World II. When the dust settles over 90% of Americans won’t be around.

    • Guido

That’s a great book! I think 4th Turning was incredible.
I also think the 4th Turning, if it is indeed correct, offers hope. Things may get bad, but it doesn’t have to be the end, merely the next season of the saeculum.

    • Highspeedloafer

“The Coming Economic Earthquake” was written by Larry Burkett in about 1990. It is an excellent read also.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people

  • Maria

I left this comment at “economic collapse” but it seems more appropriate here.

With all of the problems in the world today, it seems that the whole of humanity is in turmoil. People are facing the grim reality of the rotten situation that has quietly developed while most of us were contentedly engaged in our distracted lives…too busy to take care. Now we are all gradually being forced to live with the results of our apathy. Ignorance may lesson our guilt, but few are innocent.

There are two kinds of people in this world. Those who accept responsibility for their actions and those who don’t. Just like the two thieves who were crucified with Jesus. One mocked Jesus. The other, with great humility, accepted responsibility for his own actions and the resulting punishment.

I have been reading my Bible more, because I find it helpful to alleviate the fear of my growing concerns. I have also been praying that God would save us from this terrible economic pain. But I am starting to realize that it is something we must go through as a result of humanity’s moral decay. We must go through this time to learn our lesson and the mistakes that brought us here. Without punishment for sin there is no justice.

I know that nothing can stop the hardship we are facing, but now I am praying that God will help us to endure it and as a result get back on the path to Him.

    • Sandy B

I agree. Comments here show that people still don’t understand that they are being played against each other by using false models like political party, religion, sexual preference, etc. The elite are extremely good at this and we need to wise up and stop falling for their game. Our greatest need right now is to UNITE; forget your neighbor is not your identical religion; forget his/her sexual preference irks you, it’s really none of your business. One of the great things I learned while in the military is that people of widely differing views/beliefs/political thought can be taught to work together as a team for one main goal. We NEED to do this or we will be defeated and become the serfs that the elite want all of us to be. What’s it gonna be? Unite and conquer, or keep fighting each other and die. That’s the line in the sand.

    • KountryKathi

This is so true!!! If they took the time to really look at things, they would find we all have much more in common than we have in differences.

Hm, working together??? It would be awesome to see more of that. You see it after disasters, like this years tornadoes, but we need to see it ALL the time.

Good article. It may be the case that America has never really been a democracy, has always been corrupt, and Americans have always been rude, poorly educated, dishonest, and mean-spirited by nature. I really don’t know. But, things sure seem to have gone downhill fast during the last 30 years. In my recollection, America of the 1950’s and early 1960’s was a far nicer place, and people of that time were far better educated and rational than now. Once, in high school, I met an elderly fellow who had graduated from my high school in 1912. I was astounded, as he told me about his time, at how more rigorous and demanding his coursework was, back then, compared to mine in the late 1960’s. I am astounded now how poorly students at even the graduate-school level perform compared to the 1960’s and 1970’s. We’re in serious trouble. The problems do not appear to be self correcting. When people without even high-school-level knowledge of the world around them are elvated by the press to become serious political candidates – and people vote for them – we’re in serious trouble indeed.

  • Robert

It is spiritual bankruptcy, not material lack, that is the root of human suffering.

    • lone survivor

There are so many reasons why things are falling apart in America.
I believe it started with the beatnit movement of the late 50’s into the 60’s and the hippies.
With the casual first, pot smoking then into LSD and other mind altering drugs-then these same people lived in communes and had sex with lots of people-so kids didn’t know who their fathers were plus their minds were messed up because their mothers used LSD and other drugs. Remember turn on tune out? Then it was who gives a shit? Do whatever you want. Who cares as long as your happy and high!
      Oh brother.
Then the USA had open immgration and a lot of people came over here and held on to their old ways and keep to their own communities , for example(Veitnam and Hamung-a lot of them hate white and black people) a friend in Amarillo, Texas says there is Saigon, Hanoi and Bankok in Amarillo! And its not safe to go into these neighborhoods! They don’t like you!
Plus a lot of these meat packing companies have brought foreign workers over from Asia and they bring their criminal relatives with them!
On one of the TV talk shows a few years back, a man was talking about wars poping up in the USA due to all these ethinic groups coming here who hate each other. Of course the talk show said he was a racist and didn’t know what he was talking about, everybody here in America just loves everybody!
Today, here in America, its gotten soo bad, that there are people who would kill you just to steal your shoes or cheap Walmart watch!
With illegal and legal immagration at, depending on whos figures you read, is 2 million a year up to as much as 5 million a year! Add the birth rate of 4250000, and thats a lot of people added to the population every year. One site said there could be a billion! people in the USA by the year 2100.
With jobs being scarce, some people just become criminals or because they don’t want to work at all. On TV, they interviewed a gang member and asked him why he didn’t go out and get a job and he replied that he could make more in a day robbing or dealing drugs then he could make in a week or two working at some job!
I don’t know what the answer is. Old timers I’ve talked to, said life was much better in the 40’s and 50’s, execpt for medicine of course. Said they could live without computers and high tech toys. (and hardly any gun laws back then. Back then, you could mail order guns!) Take that Sarah Brady!
And even if you go to college and get a degree, when you go out to look for a job, you’ve got 75, 100 or 200 people applying for the same job. Employers know this, and offer to pay lower wages, because if you don’t take the job, someone else will. And forget about benifits, they will only offer part time work, no full time anymore. Two 20 hour shifts=40 hours. So a person will only get 20 hours a week getting 8 to 10 dollars an hour.
Not too long ago, Intel was hiring 25 people, guess how many showed up? On the news it said over 2500 people showed up to apply for a job.
The public schools today are more interesed in teaching children to be gay, anti-hunting, anti-gun and to obey the government (and the UN). Many mentally unstable teachers are pushing their own political agenda and not whats good for the students. Many female teachers who are women libbers give male students low grades and give female students higher grades. They also give boys strange psychotic drugs to keep them docile, kids anre kids and move around a lot. But the teachers don’t like that.

      • Richard

That has all changed and now we have a very devided nation witch has lost its cohiesiveness. This is compounded by political correctness and so called multiculturalism witch will never work. Th Baci in the 1960’s there wer real good paying manufacturing jobs. That is before free trade with china, and laws that encouraged investment by American money, in China and everywhere else but The USA wheere there was slave labor. The balance of trade and national debt are killing us and its all downhill at this point. I might also mention the police state america has become. I do not think anything can be done at this point. RC

        • Sandy B

I agree. I think it is lock and load at this point. But, everyone is busy chatting online, so they will miss the time to hit the streets and fight back. This country may go down without a whimper with people’s faces glued to computer screens watching the faux war being depicted while the real war is unmentioned.

      • Guido

I used to have an booklet published by an aerospace engineer who was against the Bosnia Intervention in the 1990s. He believed the Clintons and Liberals in general were concerned about Yugoslavia collapsing because it represented their ideal of a multicultural society collapsing. He compared them to the US and the Left’s fear that our own multicultural paradise could someday become “Balkanized” and go to war. Perhaps we’re getting there?

  • Ron

“We have changed, and not for the better.”
That is true, but if you go back and look at the REAL America, up to the 1950s, it was a nation that is UNRECOGNIZABLE compared to today’s Post-American America.
Pat Buchanan noted that in 1960 the US was about 90% White and Christian. The 1965 Immigration Act changed all that, the law was designed to replace the 1960 demographic with a new one, a people whose heritage lies in the 3rd worlds of Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

“Sadly, instead of coming together to work on some solutions to our growing problems, Americans are becoming more divided than ever.”

Even the liberal Putnam of Harvard admitted that multi-racial communities are anything BUT places of working for a common good.

“United we stand, divided we fall – you make the call America.”

Heartland Americans never got a chance to vote on whether or not they wanted to CHANGE America from what it was to what it is today. Nobody asked us if we wanted Jesus Christ kicked to the curb during our Holy Seasons. Yeah that is what HAPPENED to Our Lord, the non-Christians and the Communists got together and made it so that they can have Menorahs and Kwaanzas, and Moslem religious iconography at the White House and in the Town Square and airports but we can’t have a creche. Do you think WE asked for that?

Did we ASK for the TV shows like Family Guy to make Our Lord a PEDOPHILE as one episode did? Oh yeah or did we ASK for HBO and Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, to do a skit on Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2009 where David, with Seinfeld snickering at a Christian family, whose house the skit takes place in, URINATED on a picture of JESUS?????

    No we didn’t.
WE didn’t ask for the government to demand that banks give loans to unqualified minorities thus precipitating the mortgage crisis. We didn’t call up the government or the Bankers and ask for that. We don’t ask that immigration of millions of LEGAL entrants come in each year to compete for what jobs remain, and to jump ahead of us in the line through Affirmative Action and the like, we don’t DEMAND more and more H1-Bs, H2-Bs, L-1s, and the rest of the visas for workers from 3rd World to come in, LEGALLY, to take jobs WE WOULD DO. We didn’t ask for that.

The future is GRIM, that much can’t be argued.

“Yes, we should always stand up for what we believe is right, but we can do that and still love one another at the same time.”

Well I think maybe we should LOVE those who LOVE us for a change, we’ve all loved our enemies and what did we get in return? The demographic that you and I and most of the readers if not 99.99% of them, belong to are being carefully herded into EXTINCTION, and if you think that is hyperbole, then check the demographic projections.

“They love to divide us and play us off against each other. Everywhere you look in America, hate is growing.”

Every other single group has not just one, but a boatload of organizations fighting for them—who voices our concerns, who CARES about us, who foot the bill for our own dispossession? Surely it isn’t the government, where the AG of the US, Eric Holder testified UNDER OATH, that We, White Christians, have NO PROTECTION, under the 2009 Hate Crime law, that Civil Rights laws, ARE NOT MEANT for US.

I better stop here, I do so like and admire the man who writes these articles for us, he gives us lots of information and good insights. I have to say that the idea that people are fungible is not reality. The kind words he wrote in this piece well, In the past, I might have agreed with you.
In the future, you will probably agree with me.

Loyalty to ourselves is the missing threade

America the beautiful!! What a statement!! If it is so true, then why do we outsource so many things?? Why do we buy from China?? Why is it that when you call customer service at AT&T, you are speaking to a foreigner?? Why is it that the number one selling car in America is from Japan?? Since when did Chevrolet become a mexican car (Built in Mexico)??? What good family would allow their neighbors to suceed them??
When is this country going to wake up, and become loyal to itself?? The more money the unions make, the more money they spend in this very economy. If Toyota had to have the same set of rules that GM had, who would be suceeding who?? Why do we allow foreigners to come onto our soil, and outdo our locals, then take the money they make back home to where ever they’re from??…. and in many cases, tax free???!!!
When are we going to realize that when we buy a product made in China, we are advocating their labor laws, and undermining ours?? Why even have labor laws, if we embrace the products of unmoralistic others’ and their laws??? This is fundamentally a government issue, and must be addressed!!!!!
America, wake up!!!!! we need to get back to our own loyalties to ur own people!!! There used to be a sayong… “Buy American, the job you save could be your own!!”
I have a theory. The reason the housing market collapsed, is because the wall street gang had no other commodities left to sell, thus falsely driving up the prices for their own gains. Apparently not too many valuables left in this country anymore…. or at least ones that are owned by us!!??
This is a government problem…. they must do something to protect our own home grown industries!! After all they are certainly telling American manufacturers who, what, and when. At the same time, they are allowing foreigners to prostitute our marketplace, in spite of their immoralities. Go figure!!

It is #14 that really makes your point – that it is not leaders, rich nor republicans nor democrats, but Americans. All the Americans in the store have jobs, they have money and YET many of them still steal, in significantly larger numbers.

It shows a greedy selfish society, the others show individual’s characteristics, but you can watch The Killing or America and read of other historical moral panics and be dismissive that there is a change. But you cannot see a national trend like stolen inventory and be dismissive.

All we can do is to have a positive effect in our own little corner of the world.

I saw the 10 Commandments taken off the walls after I graudated in 1968. The moral fabric started to fall. At the same time the liberals started saying Christian’s were ignorant people that had no hope but in myths.
I have seen Socialism in liberals that would have in the 50’s and 60’s been labeled communist and be arrested and jailed. A nation that lose’s sight of God Almighty will fall. It will not get better. God punished the Jews for not following His laws. But a nation that does not support Israel will be cursed the scripture is very specific. The Jews are not the problem, it is the problem of each and every soul. We have murdered millions of unborn children, do you really think this nation will not be punished? Think again. As it gets worse, at least the true Christian’s have God’s protection, the lost have nothing and no hope. I have experienced God in a real way, I know He is real. I feel sorry for those who have no hope. Don’t put your trust in this govenment, the Lord calls them beasts. Would you really like a beasts to contol your destiny? You have a choice given you by God, I hope you make the right one.

Regretfully none of u get it. This has been going on through out the world for hundeds of years. Good VS Evil and it is not going to charge because most people are listening to the evil in their mind and heart and have been blinded (or brain washed) by teachers, media, friends, and so forth. Most people know right from wrong, but choose to do wrong.

When all is said and done, our problems are fundamentally moral in nature. The founding fathers cautioned us,

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” (John Adams)

“A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.” ((Ben Franklin)

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”
    (Ben Franklin)

Time has certainly borne out the truth of their observations, has it not? Freedom is not free, it demands high character and eternal vigilance, as Thomas Paine observed, “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”

If we are too preoccupied to study history, we shall find ourselves misled by those who misuse it for corrupt ends. If we are too lazy or preoccupied to govern ourselves, others will do it for us. If we are too timid to defend ourselves and our communities when they are attacked, we shall find ourselves enslaved. If we lack the character to govern ourselves individually, how can we hope to govern fairly and justly on behalf of others? If we renounce the moral basis of our society, and attempt to destroy the family, how can we build a future in which our children will want to live?

If we value winning over integrity, we should not be surprised when we create a winner-take-all society in which there is no honor, only the winners and losers. If we value greed over goodness, should we be surprised that our children say they want to be rich rather than good?

One can ask many such questions; where are the answers to be found? In our own hearts and minds, and our individual character as free persons. So, if you want a better nation, a better government – first, before all else, strive to be a better and more just person.

Unless we become better and more just people, our laws, regulations, and all other attempts to cure our ills, will come to nothing.

The time for nostalgia may be over. There was a short span of years when Americans lived well. For the rest of the thousands of years of civilization it has been a dog-eat-dog world. Change is the constant.

Just as we, as individuals, have a span of time when are young healthy adults without major health problems, that time passes and we grow old.

The destruction of the family is at the heart of the problem. We have lost that fundamental principle which was honored for most of civilization. We now have a me-first world with everyone out for themselves. Having children is now a huge expense without a payoff. People still want to experience parenthood but they find out the hard way that children are not reciprocating the love and commitment that parents put into them. It has become a huge energy drain to raise kids.

Enjoy every day to the fullest. Give thanks for all good things and good people. I’m not going to label myself here but I believe in a creator God every time I pass my flower beds and see how perfectly each petal is folded into its holder. Someone had to have designed such a beautiful, elegant thing.

I am grateful for the years I have had on this earth when life was good. I won’t feel guilty for being part of the generation that enjoyed the fruits of many years of hard work to attain a level of enjoyment of life that future generations may not be blessed with.

I’m stocking my house, not in an extreme way, but in a just-in-case way. I’m making contacts with people I trust with whom my family may band together with in case of emergency. I’m trying to stay fit so if I have to walk a long way or go without or live differently it won’t be too much of a shock. Being prudent.

Good look to all at these our last days of freedom and peace.

    • Virgnia

I think you are right about the family disintegrating. Raising kids now is a huge drain on energy and resources. Society pays in more ways than one. Americans are unaware of the consequences of their actions. Global unawareness. We all need a reality check because things could get real bad real quick.

If a marxist chump like Obama can be elected in the fallen contemporary UNited Soviet States of America (USSA)…I don’t think its a stretch to say America is waaaaaaaayyyy past redeemable.

So long America the idiocracy. You deserve everything you’ve reaped because that is exactly what you in your foolish love of marxism have sown.

Put a fork in her…she has been done for awhile now.

Don’t be shocked by a few dozen wild stories. There are like 400 million people in this country and most get along just fine.

  • Moses Malone

It’s another part of the puzzle. TV, music, all seek to demoralize us and control us through negative stimuli. Systematically bombarded with hate, sex, jealousy, mayhem, prison/cop shows, materialism…..

Surely there are good shows and good people, but don’t let your optimism and blind hope lead you to blissful ignorance. THe majority rules and the majority are the product of their environment……handed to them through their controlled 5 senses. Propaganda has been perfected.

911, Bush, Obama……what more do you need to wake the hell up.

  • Re: Your list of why America is going to hell in hand basket on steroids. Of all the stuff you list, there is not a single item that is new and unique. Crime comes and goes with the rising and falling fortunes of the nation. As for the political situation: Americans get who they vote for! How can you explain away that George W Bush was re-elected after what he did to the nation? Sheer ignorance of the masses.

  • didier

there is a chinese proverb saying “to learn bad is easy”

today many seem to agree that “to learn bad is courageous”… “thank” to hollywood

  • Francisco

Most people still seem to be oblivious to the real cause. Who is behind the moral decay (i.e. who controls Hollywood and the media)? Who controls the Fed? Who was possibly behind 9/11 (who benefited)? Google it. Google “controlled media” for starters. We are not just falling apart under our own weight; we are being systematically destroyed by a particular group of elites who have their own agenda. Find out who is behind all this and it all starts to make a lot more sense.

  • I’d like to add to the “seams” reasons that citizens have become deathly afraid of police – federal, state, and local – of whom all are intertwined together into one of the largest police forces in history. They are beholden to themselves only and not the public whom legend says they were sworn to protect. Even look sideways (innocently, of course) at a cop and you are liable to have the hell beat out of you (maybe dead or in the hospital)and arrested. Make no mistake about it, there are good cops – I only wish they would speak up. A pretty good Twitter feed exists called @goodandbadcops. There is no judgement of the police; it only highlights news and articles about corruption.

The US has lost 32% of its manufacturing jobs since 2000. An average of 50,000 jobs per month since China joined the WTO. back in 1970 25% 0f all jobs in US were manufacturing jobs.Today it is 9%. American have an addiction for cheap products from foreign countries. The US spends $4 on goods from China and China spends $1 on good from the US. In 2010 the number one export from the US to China was scrap and trash. Todaay there are 45 million on food stamps. Because of NAFTA and NAFTA of The Pacific the US could lose as many as 40 million jobs in the next two decades being sent offshore.

    • Lisa Langley

Yes, Americans love cheap goods. But the idea that our job loss is mainly due to trade agreements is a big fat lie. 14% of manufacturing jobs have been lost to other countries. 86% are gone because of automation… and that’s accelerating as technology increases exponentially. Prepare for future employment!!…there are plenty of decent-paying jobs open right now in areas of technology and healthcare–most only require a two-year certification program through community colleges. And there are satellite campuses in smaller towns to prevent having to drive long commutes. Pell grants and other aid are available to help with costs. But you have to be willing to do the work, and you can’t expect companies/ jobs to come to you. The US has moved past the agricultural, industrial and manufacturing periods in American employment. Continuing to live in impoverished towns, 20+ years after the local manufacturing plant has closed, while collecting government checks/food stamps and complaining about jobs that aren’t coming back is a dead-end life. It’s contagious. And it’s being passed down to young people who arent growing up knowing what it means to work hard, full-time for a living. Even people who once worked hard have now forgotten how. { I know of business owners in these areas that pay a livable wage ($15-$22/hr.) and they still can’t find/keep employees that will show up every day, on time, ready to hustle and do a good job. Often, their only dependable people are Hispanic/Mexican.} So the locals turn to drug dealing/manufacturing to make an easy buck, and now heroin and meth use is running rampant. Our rural areas have become the new ghettos and inner-cities of the ’70s & ’80s. Those who still live there have a choice: stay and sink, or take responsibility by going to school to gain necessary job skills. Then If the jobs aren’t nearby, you sell what you have and move to where jobs are. Government and politicians aren’t going to step in and save anybody. And blaming Mexicans, other countries, nafta, etc isn’t going to stop automation and companies from phasing out/replacing low-skill labor. The only thing you can count on is you– pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and do the work so you’re qualified for tomorrow’s jobs, not yesterday’s.

No, I think it started with the Frankfurt School pre-WW2.

“Maybe Kurt Cobain was right. Maybe we will have to eventually “sell the kids for food” (“In Bloom”, Nirvana, 1991). Hey, it’s better than tossing a baby in a dumpster.”

Well, Jonathan Swift came up with a somewhat similar idea a lot earlier; with his A modest proposal (1729).

  • If it was not for all whinny liberals (or people who never grow up) america would not be on a down slide. just like all the ocuppied wallstreet babies who would rather see thier on coutry destroyed then to get jobs when theres help wanted signs all around them. if repulicans (or grown ups) ran the show america would heal in no time.

You do not need a rocket scientist to tell you this: Marriage and motherhood is the bed-rock of all flourishing societies and countries. When the institution of marriage collapses as it has already happened, the society collapses and the country follows. This is what is happening now and the condition is irredeemable. Here is a list of some of the reasons why American marriages/society is breaking down fast:
    1. Feminist agenda/anti-family values
    2. TV and media promoting anti-family values
    3. Women joining the work-force rather than following their God-given duties and responsibilities of child bearing, child caring, leading to neglect, break-ups, divorce.
    4. Dating and pre-marital sex undermine marriage, lead to un-intended consequences like single parents, children out of wedlock, abortions, mental instability, infertility in women, bastards on the streets of America who don’t know who their parents/fathers are and many others..
    5. Lack of spiritual understanding and maturity and over-materialistic values lead to a few marriages without any firm foundation, hence a ticking time-bomb.
    6. Women perverting the institution of marriage by using it as a cash cow/ATM machine.
And the list can go on….
No amount of fresh investments, innovations, fresh thinking or political gimmicks from new comers can fix this problem. Hence the country is DOOMED. The smart people know it and they know whats coming.

#18 In the San Francisco area recently, fire crews and police just stood on the shore and watched as a suicidal 50-year-old man slowly drowned to death in the San Francisco Bay.

This happened just a few blocks from where I live.

America is falling apart because we have terrorists in our own government – working at the TSA – terrorizing American citizens. We have our own government trying to sabotage our music industry (do you have any IDEA how much money that brings in?!) – by making cover songs illegal. I could go on and on. Barack Obama is determined to finish us off.

  • The first settlers stole the land from the Indians- as a reward the Indians now live in concentration camps called reservations. Then the Americans stole land from the Mexicans-land which accounts for about 33% for the total land area. Then they went to the ME( Irak) to steal oil and other natural resources, etc. Now the Obama administration Is stealing the bank accounts and other properties of the American citizens. It will end in martial law with Barry Soetoro as the dictator.

  • Archyle

Look at all the great societies throughout history, their rise and fall and eventual collapse, the liberalization of society is always the force that weakens it, and it then falls prey to outside forces, because there is no common thread or bond in society to hold people together in the face of adversity.

  • JPconservative

liberalism has been a disease to American right especially when it comes to religious belief. For too long, liberal media has poison the weak minds of the American Populous from the truth that the government, congress and the Freemason is in control of what we say or do. How sad that nobody is seeing this coming.

  • Great chicken little article. You pick a handful of experiences that could have happened anywhere as support for your hypothesis that we are doomed. It must be a horrific existence thinking the sky is always falling. Our age has it’s fair share of troubles but we are living in the single greatest era of human history, if you can’t see that, you are the broken ones. NOT society.

Tell that to all the broken homes and the rash of infidelity going on. I remember the early 60’s and the moral fiber we had back then. Now I see broken homes and disrespectful children with entitlement issues and cheating husband and wives justifying their immoral behavior!!! Yes we are well on our way to collapsing!!!

  • angel smoyer

First if you blame religion preferences of an individual or rights to choose for women to work or be a wife or whatever you think is the blame for other peoples beliefs in personal work ethics and political standing then you yourself is just ss much to blame. On immigration yes the children need help but can we ss a nation in financial crisises help no not really. Theres a saying cleanup your own backyard before trying to cleanup someone elses. But my grandmother used to add this part in if you and a neighbor clean your backyard and their backyard them you both move over to clean another backyard and they join you to the next yard to clean snd so on then before you know it you and all who live on that street has clean every backyard by working together to be effective efficient timely cooperative and have accomplished something greater than individualism. You created a group conscience for the greater good needed to survive live and porsper. So take a hint before wagging fingers at each other use your individual opinions gracefully and help create together a voice and action that all of you can hold your head up high about help move all americans come together for the greater good. Even if it means to reverse some things. Sometimes it better to voluntarily take a couple of steps back than to be forced back a dozen at a time to move forward hundred step in the right and most porductive directions for all americans regardless of their standings in personal choices snd beliefs or political standings

Wow. You need to get out more. These are examples of insane individuals or small groups. How do 20 people represent the whole population of the United states? For each thing you listed here, there are 1000 people living loving, decent lives. There is more love than hate in the world. You just have to open your eyes to see it. :D stay positive,

My wife is leaving me after 24 years because she got BORED and wants to be able to text younger guys and have fun. She is 59 and tells them online that she is 43. When I met her she was renting a room and I sold my home and bought a home for her and I have been faithful and loving but I guess it is not enough! I know of at least 10 couples splitting up because their spouse is not happy.
What happened to committment and love?
We have one screwed up country!
